  I have decided to try to give my old g20 renewed life with a few updates, but could do with a few tips before you start to throw money at it.
  The first and most obvious update will install two sticks of 1 GB memory and I was thinking about crossing the old hard disk of 80 GB 5400 RPM to something big and I hope more quickly as a 320 GB 7200 RPM, any advice on this would be appreciated because I don't know if this is possible.

  I was also wondering if the cpu can be upgraded and if someone knew were I could get a new mine cpu fan has become noisy.

  2 x 1 GB RAM will be fine. You must use the RAM that has the same speed and timings of CASE/RAS similar as the original of the RAM. Avoid the "Value RAM."

  With respect to the HARD disk, a 120 GB should certainly work, but 320 GB * could * be too large depending on what the Chipset and BIOS can support. Maybe an other G20 owner here it can confirm works, or search the Qosmio for "HARD drive" section

  With respect to the processor, you must be careful when upgrading it. Look at the other models of the G20 and determine what the CPU the fastest they have. This way you can almost guarantee it will work properly.
  If you install a faster processor is faster than what is available in the range of the G20, may not be detected correctly and the cooling fan isn't able to manage the production of heat, causing the laptop overheats.
  Also, I think that a special utility must be run to calibrate the CPU. In my view, that the ASP have access to this utility. The CPU can run very slowly if this utility is not running.

  I need to some piece of advice on MySQL transactions and how to manipulate them in flex.

  At this stage of development, we use remote objects to perform actions on the server via a PHP back-end. For example, I need to delete an invoice that has matched the invoice lines, so I would like to perform a transaction on the whole process and rollback if it fails. What is the best way to do it? I thought about 2 ways but don't really know what is the best:

  (1) perform the action (using remote objects), create a transaction from mysql in php and returns a Boolean true/false flaging everything went well or not.

  (2) I've seen there's something called the data store, I have not found too much googling info/docs/tutorials, but it feels could do the job, but have to study this a bit more. What is an option?

• Interchanging parts a320n and a1330n Tower

  I have two HP towers, a320n (2003 vintage) and a1330n (2005).  the 1330 had a hard drive failure and remained on-site with an empty drive Bay.  The 320 has recently experienced a power surge and my repairman advises feeding times and MB are dead as well.  My intention is to remove the hard disks intact the 320 and put them in the 1330.  This situation has raised the following issues:

  1 is it true that it is more possible to get a replacement MB for the 320?  I said practical current mfg must essentially 'custom - fit' MBs in the case, and off the coast of the MB tray replacement essentially becomes a thing of the past - would just check this info.

  2. the 1330 came up with half a dozen of manuals; It is shocking that not one has a view of the inside of the case.  Is there a view inside-business online?  All that I could find were copies online of the manuals that I have, which do not offer the material I want.

  3 is the interchangeable memory between 320 and the 1330?  If so, I'll save that as well.

  I appreciate all help to unravel the combination of these two 'wounded warriors' desired in a single machine works.

  Here are the specifications of the HP Pavilion a320n desktop and here are the specifications of the desktop HP Pavilion Media Center a1330n. You should be able to use the a320n IDE HDDs in the a1330n. The memory of the a320n should work in the a1330n, but it will make the memory run at the slower speed.

  (1) the most mass produced computers use a micro-ATX motherboard and there is a lot of these facts by the non - OEM manufacturers. It is almost always possible to adapt a replacement no HP in a case of HP. However, these systems are old enough so that it is impossible to find adequate replacements.

  (2) please see the specifications for the HP a320n (A7N8X-(Explorer 2) motherboard) and the HP a1330n (A8AE-(AmberineM) motherboard) for information layout and connection of motherboard.

  (3) the memory of the a320n should work in the a1330n, but it will make the memory run at the slower speed.

• VMware View and Outlook 2007 advice please

  We lack of Vmware view, a single master with ~ 20 linked clones. I have two questions by email:

  Microsoft recommends that Outlook 2007 is running in cached mode, but is there an advantage to running customer reviews in cached mode? In my experience, the client goes into maintenance mode when the user disconnects, and seems to be regenerated each time.

  I would like to change the default Outlook settings (address book, options, etc) but I don't see how to do on the 'master' for all users - is possible to do?

  You mention that you use linked clones. Given that, my opinion is that you absolutely don't want to use mode cached for the following reasons:

  1. the cached copy of the mailbox of the user will be (probably significantly) increase the size of the system disks in your virtual machine and your drive of the user's data (if you use them). This isn't a good use of the disc in my opinion and you be essentially double your Exchange storage needs.

  2. cached mode is a great strategy for WAN needs or for overcrowded overexploited mailbox servers. If your script does not match one of these then most likely, you can't all the performance improvements implemented cache mode can provide. Most likely your virtual office computer is sitting on the same DC/LAN, and you have several gigabit connectivity for your ESX servers.

  3. again, depending on how you manage your drive/user data user profiles you can be place your copy cached on the system disk. If so, this will make powerful capabilities such as Refresh and recompose less useful whenever you make a recreation of the copy cached in the mailbox.

  4. If you use a redirection of folder/roaming profile with cached mode, you do not want to be put the cached copy of the mailbox on a network share that predisposes so you in the solution of disk for user data. I prefer a real profile with approach of redirection of roaming folder for various reasons, most of them associated with management.

  5. the question of the interview you mentioned, which is related to the updated copy cached is not closed to the shutdown/logoff. Do away with the cached mode will fix this but also make sure you have Service Pack 2 for Office 2007 is installed. There are significant fixed Outlook and improvements in performance in there.

  6 cached mode can create problems with different search engines that seem to be fashionable these days. All of them want to index the updated copy cached and that they support each other or play nice, it has a negative impact on the performance of Outlook. They can also contribute to #5 above.

  There are others, but that's what I have on the top of my head right now.

  If you have a 128 GB SSD boot and a second drive internal SATA 7200 RPM, you can get for your application and be able to work 30 to 50 minutes without a wall outlet. I would start there and if it's too slow, then consider adding an eSATA drive, but then it takes a wall outlet. I can't say that you NEED a third disc, you will need to determine than yourself and weigh speed advantage against either subordinate to a wall outlet for the juice.

• IM new web design and need advice

  Hello

  Im very new web site design and need some advice. Ive been designing with Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign for a few years and say im at a high level of proficiency with them.

  I am now wanting to move in design for the web. I just learned html and css and I'm learning Flash and Dreamweaver. I have so many questions that I put everything at once.

  The first question is how all of these de-it-ur-self sites using CMS affect the market of the Web designers? It reduces demand for web designers because most people will now be able to build their own Web site using templates.

  Secondly, what languages/programs, and in what order do you think would be useful for someone like me who wants to double as a graphic designer/web designer to know.

  I went to see a professor on the subject and he said that if I am primarily a designer (who am) as opposed to a developer I should just learn html, css and javascript. But others said that, beyond the creative skills of a designerit is very useful for a freelance or someone in the job market learn MySLQ, ASP, coldfusion, PHP, and many others.

  Please give me advice. Your suggestions will be much appreciated.

  of course, it has an impact on the way people develop Web sites. but I don't think that the market will suffer serious problems from it. There are very many companys who want professional web developers with a unique design and structure. You can, of course, deal with it using wordpress & co. by yourself. not as a whole structure, since it will be maybe not quite adaptable. You can use it as a structure for articles as well - on blog.banklupe.de: they designed a unique structure for the Web site and used the CMS of wordpress for the blog - and has adapted, he would comply with the CI. the advantage: wordpress is easy to use and webdesigner have better to do than post blog - writers can do themselves.
