Internal DHCP using in WLC 4112

Hi guys,.

I want to make my place different network wireless. Then I set the dhcp scope internal 3 inside WLC. My WLC value LWAPP layer 2. My problem is, clients are not able to get the IP address in a WLC dhcp scope. Please help me what to do

Thank you

Jong

Hi jong,.

It is right and is always best practice to use the Lwapp 3 layer instead of l2 Lwapp.

Kind regards

I forgot something? Is there anyone using DHCP for its access points?

    Thank you!

    Hello

On Cisco WLC internal DHCP, you can add the option 43 to say where APs must register. In this case, they will try to resolve the DNS CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER or CISCO-LWAPP entry.

Let me explain briefly how AP-Manager works on WLC:

    1. Boots of Access Point and sends a discovery request to the management interface of the controller using the intellectual property you configured as DHCP Option 43 (as described above, it can be resolved by the DNS entry)
    2. Controller, sends it a response discovered that contains the name of the system, addresses AP-Manager, the number of access points already connected to each interface AP-Manager and the overall capacity of the controller.
    3. Joints access point controller using the less loaded interface AP Manager.

With this, every AP Manager must have a good configured interface and be connected to a different port, no LAG.

I drop a post here sometimes there is which might help:

  • WLC 5508 internal DHCP server issues

    Hello

I'm hoping to get your comments around the issues of dhcp, I faced with two centrally switched Wireless LAN. I have attempted to explain the installation and the problems below and would be grateful if anyone can suggest a solution for the problems I am facing:

    The configuration is the following:

-J' have a WLC 5508, which has been configured with 4 SSID, of which 2 are the Central authentication and commissioning.
-J' have a LWAP connected to the WLC in HREAP mode.
-WLC is configured as a DHCP server for clients that connect to the SSID "Guest." For the rest, I'm on external dhcp server.
-Only one scope of comments Interface is configured on the WLC.

    Problems:

    1. as far as I know, to WLC serve internal dhcp server, it is mandatory to have the proxy enabled, but the Clients connecting to 'Internet' SSID are

Unable to get an external dhcp server ip address, if the proxy dhcp is enabled on the WLC. If I disable the proxy, everything works fine.

2 DHCP does not release the ip addresses assigned to clients, even after that that they are connected.

    3. If a machine that has previously been connected to "Guest" SSID connects to the 'Internet' SSID, he asks the same ip address, he was charged by the WLC assigned under "Guest", it gets the tag with the Vlan configured on the management interface.

    The controller output *.

  • No dhcp use connected vrf ip

    Hi experts,

I would like to know what this command does? I can't found on cisco.com.

    Hi John,.

This command indicates the router if requests from DHCP directly connected interfaces VRF to allocate IP addresses from a global DHCP pool (which is not specifically related to any VRF), or if a DHCP by VRF pool should be used to assign addresses.

    Consider the following configuration:

    IP vrf MyVRF1

    RD 1:1

    !

    IP vrf MyVRF2

    RD 1:2

    !

    Global IP dhcp pool

    192.0.2.0/24 network

    !

    dhcp ForMyVRF1 IP pool

    VRF MyVRF1

    192.0.2.0/24 network

    !

    dhcp ForMyVRF2 IP pool

    VRF MyVRF2

    192.0.2.0/24 network

    !

    interface Fa0/0.10

    encapsulation dot1Q 10

    192.0.2.1 IP address 255.255.255.0

    !

    interface Fa0/0.20

    encapsulation dot1Q 20

    IP vrf forwarding MyVRF1

    192.0.2.1 IP address 255.255.255.0

    !

    interface Fa0/0.30

    encapsulation dot1Q 30

    IP vrf forwarding MyVRF2

    192.0.2.1 IP address 255.255.255.0

With no dhcp ip use vrf connected, if a query DHCP comes which interface here, he will be assigned an IP address of the overall global DHCP pool, with no regard for the VRF the interface through which the request is entered in. DHCP VRF ForMyVRF1 and ForMyVRF2 pools will remain completely unused and intact, although only being defined.

With the dhcp ip protocol use the vrf is connected, the behavior becomes what you would normally expect-Fa0/0.10 requests will be served DHCP Global pool, the requsts which crosses the Fa0/0.20 in MyVRF1 VRF will be served by the DHCP ForMyVRF1 pool and Fa0/0.30 requests will be served DHCP ForMyVRF2 pool as the Fa0/0.30 is assigned to the MyVRF2.

    Best regards

  • Addr DHCP. Disposal - WLC required

Can guys, someone tell me what this means?

I take this means that security policy will not pass until the user has a DHCP address? Is this correct?

    Thx a lot together.

    Ken

You are right... This allows only the traffic of users who have obtained their IP through dhcp. On the reverse, allow this because of issues where some clients can not connect even if they have dhcp. Also the ARP errors have been known to appear in the newspapers.

If you really want to use this feature, go ahead and give it a try. If you have more problems when activated, then you know that this feature is not going to work for you.

  • Lost the VPN tunnel between 2 site when internal client using client vpn

We currently have VPN tunnel connected to the remote desktop using router VPN Hotbrick 2.

When 1 of the internal computer try to connect to another server VPN customer using Cisco VPN Client v4.8, she will appear in drop/disable/loss of the tunnel between us VPN and remote offices. The tunnel is still established but no traffice between site 2. (cannot all ping)

What are the causes of the problem? Hotbrik problem? Customer Cisco VPN setting or something else?

I don't know what causes the problem. Help, please. Thanks in advance.

    Hello

The problem is that your NAT device will not translating properly, and when the 2nd customer triggers (ISAKMP packets-UDP 500) connections port isn't transalated, so for the SAA is as the first user tries to connect again, then it rejects the initial connection.

The trick is, as you have discovered, use global UDP.

The problem is that UDP 10000 is not a standard, so you need to check if multiple users can be connected at the same time behind the same NAT device.

If this is not the case, use the NAT transparency standard industry (UDP 4500). This should be configured only on the SAA.

    Please rate if this helped.

    Kind regards

    Daniel

  • [Q] create an internal network using Vmware 6.5

I have the following two images:

    1 image: Ubuntu (Image)

NIC 1: connected in bridged mode.

NIC 2: I want this NETWORK adapter to be connected to a different network called "local".

Image 2: (NO OS installed, again)

NIC 1: I want this NETWORK adapter to be connected to a different network called 'local', and the MAC address is AABBCCDDEEFF

In VirtualBox I can connect to the internal network and name, I can also change the MAC address of the Vimage before it starts.

Is it possible to do using VMW 6.5?

    Thank you very much

NIC 1: connected in bridged mode.

NIC 2: I want this NETWORK adapter to be connected to a different network called "local".

Use only the 'Home' network  It is just a private network for virtual machines, and they can communicate with the host and other virtual machines connected to this network.

I suppose that the net result is that this specific virtual machine is a gateway to some form.

NIC 1: I want this NETWORK adapter to be connected to a different network called 'local', and the MAC address is AABBCCDDEEFF

So, the question will be if the NIC2 of an Image and NIC1 of two images are on the same network?  If so, then just the NIC of Image value only two host as well.

If two Image must have it's own personal space, then you need to activate another host of the network alone.  I think you can do this under the Publisher Network (Menu Edition or the Start Menu) and then activate a new network only host on a specific VMNet.  Once you have a new network activate (say VMnet5), then the value of this "Custom" and the VMNet5 virtual machine NIC.

NOTE: The MAC address is generated the first time that a virtual machine is started after the creation, so it is not in conflict with other virtual machines on the same system.  I wouldn't change it, but you can see in the VMX via Nano/VI or Notepad file.
