Internet Explorer - flash/javascript questions

I'm working on a site which has two SWFs communicate with each other through javascript. It works in all the browsers I'm targeting until recently when IE on a PC has stopped working properly.

Anyone who has experienced a similar problem recently? I was wondering if it had to do with the new way that IE handles the flash object?

Here is the link to the development area:
http://simidev.Liggett.com/Windows/elements/DoubleHung.ASP?features

I'm kind of loss to start so let me know if code snippets would help?

I'm sorry. I figured this out... he had to do to not to use a unique identifier (I've hard-coded id)

    Hello

    From Windows 8, Microsoft integrates Flash Player in Internet Explorer and all updates are distributed by Microsoft, no Adobe.

    In addition to checking that Flash Player is enabled, please ensure that the ActiveX filtering is disabled, see difficulty ActiveX in Flash Player in Internet Explorer issues.

    Today is patch Tuesday, which means that Microsoft will come out all sorts of updates, including an update to Flash Player for IE.  I don't know when they're going to live, because the update has not yet posted to Microsoft Security Advisory 2755801.  You can check this page later today, or run Windows Update later today or tomorrow to install updates.

  • Sites that use javascript to launch code download fail in FF but work in Internet Explorer.

    All financial sites that I use (TD Ameritrade, SunTrust bank, AmEx, etc.) allow to download monthly statements in pdf format. These used to be direct links to a pdf file, which can be downloaded or played directly in Firefox. They are now the javascripts which probably make the PDF on the fly from documents, and then download. I get a garbage file on my desk instead. In Internet Explorer, the javascript code triggers a query to view or download. In Firefox, I believe that there is a flash of a window that opens, then nothing. I tried to disable AdBlocker and have the sites listed to allow pop-ups, and is not.

    Try running Firefox in questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode. If it works properly in this configuration, then one of your modules is the culprit.

  • JavaScript to actionscript problem in Internet Explorer

    I spent so much time looking for a straight answer, but I can't find a solution to this simple question.

    The functions of work for Firefox, but not in Internet Explorer:

    ActionScript 3:
    to import flash.external.ExternalInterface;

    var callJasFunction:String = "callJavascript";
    var returnValue:String is ExternalInterface.call("saveglobalscore",score) (callJasFunction) m:System.NET.SocketAddress.ToString ();.

    JavaScript:
    < script type = "text/javascript" language = "javascript" >
    function callJavascript() {}
    return "Test";
    }
    < /script >

    I tried allowdomainaccess and id in the flash area.

    What could be the problem?

    The most common problem with ExternalInterface does not not on IE is an incorrect or missing id attribute in your object tag resulting either directly or as a result of replacement of javascript techniques (for example, swfobject/activecontent.js etc.).

    The id attribute is the base how to access the SWF from the DOM in javascript. In fact in this regard, I think that IE is very strict with regard to what it takes. For example, Firefox is lenient and allows you to break the rules of the w3c and work remains. Example: someone the other day in the forum was a path with slashes in as long as the attribute id. Obliques are non-compliant characters for an attribute ID IE failed because of this, the FF equivalent still worked.

    The other thing that affects ExternalInterface.available is setting the AllowScriptAccess parameter incorporating the parameter. The default value is "sameDomain", which means that you can access javascript if the swf file is in the same domain as the page container. Most often this is the case if this isn't usually a problem unless his explicitly set to 'never '. But, if your swf file was a different domain then you must set to 'always' - from memory I think.

  • Install Adobe Flash Player on Windows and Internet Explorer?

    Is - this now of paramount importance that Adobe Flash Player, will also be installed on Windows and Internet Explorer? After decades of semi - master the computer, I find this embarrassing question for me. Lately, Adobe Flash Player (Shockwave) has become a pariah for many due to its hostile structure and arrogance from Adobe to help! Up-to-date facilities have been substantially no problem. Now, speaking on behalf of all the tortured, are we not all exhausted trying to fix things? Yes! Well, if is my madness of query, or is there a grain of truth? Earlier that apply forward. Thank you!

  • I have adobe flash 10.2 installed on my computer via internet explorer, can I install flash plugin through firefox browser

    I installed the firefox browser, but it will not display farmville. Do I need to install the flash plugin in the browser firefox or internet explore. I have already adobe flash player installed through Web browser to explore.

    There are 2 versions of Flash:

    • the ActiveX for IE version only (see: [ActiveX])
    • the version of the plugin for Firefox and other browsers, except IE

    You need to update/install both if you use IE and any other browser. See the instructions below.

    1. To update or install the Flash plugin for the latest version.

      • Download and SAVE to your desktop, so you can find the Setup program later
      • If you do not have the current version, click on the "Player Download Center" link on the 'download and information' or 'Download manual installers' below
      • Once the download is complete, exit Firefox
      • Click on the installer, you just download and install
        • Windows 7 and Vista: will need to right click on the installer and choose 'run as administrator '.
      • Launch Firefox and recheck your version or up to the download link below to test the installation
      • Download and information: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
        • Use Firefox to go to the site above to update the Firefox plugin (will also install the plugin for most other browsers, except IE)
        • Use IE to go to the site above to update the ActiveX to IE
      • Download manual installers.

    If the above has solved the problem, please go back to this answer and click on the button 'Resolved' next to this response. Thank you.

  • Internet Explore has stopped working - question of the biometric authentication service

    My Elitebook 8540p has developed a problem where I get the error message - Internet Explorer has stopped working... Turn it back on.     I am running Windows 7 32 bit.   And using IE9.

    After some internet reading, I started my services of neutralization.    I finally got down to a service that is causing the problem.

    Biometric Authentication Service Digital Persona Inc.

    When I disable the service in the services of the MSconfig System Configuration and reboot, I use internet explore without any problem.    (I've identified some Web pages which would agrivate the question.)

    The deactivation of the Service of Authenticaton of Biomitric causes the scanner to not work.     I tried to reload the driver for fingerprint reader, and the HP Protect tools Security Manager.

    Any idea how I can activate the biometric authentication Service and not IE stopped working the issue?

    j1bissig

    I had the same problem on my HP Pavilion dv7 and had the chance of getting a solution.

    I, too, put the finger on biometric authentication as the problem Service.  By disabling the service, Internet Explorer worked well; except, now, I had no finger analysis feature.  I installed the latest version and it worked for a few sessions and then the problem comes back.

    Looking at my updates, I realized that the Flash is set to update at the same time, the problem started.  I tested by activating the biometric authentication Service.  Instead, I disabled the Flash add-on in Internet Explorer and it did not work again; except, now, I had no Flash.

    Searching online, I came across this post from Adobe:

    Post on the Adobe Forum: IE9, Windows 7 64-bit Flash causes "Internet Explorer has stopped working".

    I followed the instructions in this post, including the "clean install" and reverted to version 10.3 of Flash.

    Post on the Adobe Forum: how to return to a previous version of Flash Player?

    Now, all the features work correctly.

    I hope this helps!

  • Flash Drive causes Windows Mail Crash when send link by E-mail is selected in Internet Explorer

    I am running Vista Home Premium 64-bit on an HP Pavilion laptop and a curious problem.

    When I have a flash drive into a usb port and when using Internet Explorer 8, click "send link by e-mail", I crash Windows Mail... the usual error message "stopped working" and "restart".

    I don't have this problem in any other circumstance.

    If anyone has any ideas on this, I'd be fascinated for feedback.

    Thank you!

    Peter

    Hi Petergoode,

    A. Since when do you use this question?

    B. recent changes made on your computer?

    C. This only happens with this flash drive?

    D. is - what happens on the other computer also?

    Try the methods below.

    Method 1:  Check your drive for errors

    Follow the steps in the article. Choose the Flash DRIVE instead of the hard drive.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

    Important: When running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area so all available data on this risk to be lost

    If the problem persists, you may back up your data and format the flash drive, and check the status.

    Method 2: new user account

    1. Open a user account by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety (or by clicking on user accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking user accounts.
    2. Click Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Click create a new account.
    4. Type the name that you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click create an account.

  • Internet Explore 11 and Flash on Windows Server 2012 R2

    I used Windows Server 2012 R2, which built it contains Internet Explorer version 11.  During the loading of a web site that has content Flash he invites me to install Flash, but when I navigate to the Flash Download site it says that I must allow it because it is already installed.

    After reviewing the instructions for how to turn on the Flash, directions and not void because they do not match the screen I see.

    QUESTIONS RELATING TO THE:

    1. IE Version 11 has Flash built in or not?
    2. If If does, how can I turn on the Flash?
    3. If not, how to install Flash?

    Please don't tell me to load a multimedia web site and click on 'Manage Add-ons' and activate Flash because Flash enable command does not appear.

    Do you have to intall it? If this is not the case, go to Server Manager-> manage-> add roles and features-> Select here the server you want to install the feature on and under the User Interfaces and Infrastructure select Desktop experience. After installing restart your server functionality. After that, you should be able to view the flash in the browser.

  • Windows 7, Internet explorer 9... flash player

    I tried to install about 50 times now and nothing. I followed the instructions to a tee... installed and executed the malwear you recommended, disabled my anti-virus, uninstalled the old version and nothing. I have windows 7 32 bit and SECOND version 9. What I am doing wrong? It's crazy. And for a company of your size, not having support chat is shameful.

    Hi dh219,

    I faced the similar problem. To be more precise, if you visit a Web site that requires Flash Player using IE9, it keeps showing you that you need to update your Flash Player little matter how many times improve you it. The first place to check is the ActiveX filtering. Press ALT + T and in the menu that appears, remove the tick against ActiveX Filltering. If not, there is no option on the filtering ActiveX or Tick, go to resetting Internet Explorer.

    To reset the IE, Open Internet Options in Control Panel. Go to the Advanced tab and click on the button RESET (the last button on the tab). A minute before the restart of the browser. You can now access videos and javascripts. However, you may lose any changes you've made to your copy of IE, so you'll have to do it again if you want.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards.
