The installed version of Windows Vista OEM is a counterfeit.  It was designed to be installed and activated on a major brand PC, Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.

Microsoft sells more than Windows Vista, then you should consider buying a Version "full" of Windows 7 and perform a "clean installation."

  • Message keeps Occuring invalid Version of Windows Vista...

I have an old laptop MX6440 Gateway and I bought it new from the store with XP installed on it. Later, I upgraded the laptop for Windows Vista. The upgrade, that I bought at Best Buy was legal and I paid for it. I installed upgrading Windows Vista to the Gateway laptop and it worked great no problems and no problems at all and I was using the laptop for at least a year and I went out a bought a new laptop Gateway, so I put the old one back in the box it came and put it in my closet. The unit has been sitting there for a while, but I recently took it outside and needed to use it.

I plugged in and let the battery charge because the battery was dead sitting, so after a 1/2 hour, I pressed the key on and the machine. Well, I got to know my user name and password and he has accepted it and then at the start-up phase. The machine just kept hanging and doesn't move at all and after about 5 minutes that a message in the lower right corner appeared saying: "Invalid Version of Windows Vista. I watched the message in complete perplexity and at the moment I don't know what it meant invalid version.

I decided to restart the laptop and put it in Safe Mode, and it came with no error message (s) at all. I was able to get to the main screen without any problems at all. I was able to make an update of windows for laptop and it took some time, but she completed successfully. Then I restarted the laptop and tried to log on to the laptop in normal mode. The same message came back stating "Invalid Version of Windows Vista. I said to myself, I would try to re - install the OS, but I bit the original disc with the 25-character alphanumeric code, however, I've looked everywhere I mean everywhere and I didn't do it.

No one knows how to fix this problem I have described...?

If so, I appreciate all your efforts and your time. Thank you.

    Hi Fox Pongrac,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

Because you receive the error message "Invalid Version in Windows Vista", you must activate the copy of Windows Vista by using the product key 25 digits that you used to install Windows Vista on this laptop.

    How to activate Windows Vista

We can also refer to article and check if it helps.

    Resolve activation problems

You may also validate the copy of Windows Vista.

    Validate Windows Vista

  • Is there a way to contact Microsoft on someone steal my product key Windows Vista without having to pay?

original title: Windows Vista is listed as not authentic.

Is there a way to contacing MS?

My ASUS laptop, two years, that worked fine before now has Vista judged as not authentic.

Is there a way to contact MS on the theft of my Vista key, by a hijacker, without having to pay £46?

The responses that you recommend key by using system in Control Panel does not work.  No not developed phone number.

I tried to update using a phone number for the validation of the software but when transferred to a Customer Service representative the tone lasts 3 seconds, then I cut.

Other people have managed to get past the blocks set up by SM.  How did you do?

I added a diagnostic report, because I believe that this is necessary.

Thank you very much in advance for the help.

    Hello

With a HP Compaq laptop press you F11 on startup to start the recovery process.

But, like the HP advises, if you install another Vista operating system, the recovery Partition is therefore more able to be used.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

you need to change your product key to the one on your COA.
Click Start, type slui 3, press on enter.

    Additional information:

Computers, which are built by large manufacturers provided with pre-installed Windows are supplied with 2 two product keys:

OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes to the factory. This key is designed to work with the special instructions isn't on the hardware of this manufacturer. Then, when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP (in factory) Windows 7 key leans on the motherboard and he sees special instructions and activates. (that's why you had no need to turn on your computer after you brought it home)

COA SLP: it's the product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or at the bottom, [or in the battery compartment]) of your computer. It is a valid product key, but must be used only in certain situations (for example, if the OEM SLP key stops automatic activation for a reason any). The key must be activated by phone. (Note: all manufacturers that use the SLP OEM system are bound by contract to include a certificate of Authenticity sticker (COA), which has a COA SLP key, on the computer)

I have a XPS 15 running 8.1 with 1 TB HARD drive and 32 GB mSATA widows.  I want to upgrade the mSATA to a Samsung 500 GB and use it for software and HARD drive for storage.  The OS is on the 32 GB mSATA, so when I install the new mSATA I need to reinstall the operating system.  I went on the Microsoft Web site to download one. ISO Windows 8.1 but he tells me that my Windows 8.1 product code is invalid!  I got the product code of the registry using RW-everything what there is no sticker on the outside (or inside) the computer.  Clues?

One of the things that strongly upset us. Microsoft do not allow downloading of Windows 8/8.1 OEM license.

You must call Dell to buy a DVD of reinstalling Windows 8.1 technical and Support clean install after changing the SATA operation (the 32 GB SSD should be a cache drive).

I just bought from best buy on 21/02/2011 the upgrade to window 7 Professional. I bought a product upgrade of Microsoft Windows software with the granting of licenses and patents and my object still does not work. My Acer computer, came with a starter to home premium from windows, and the geek squad said I was all good for the upgrade, why I feel this messege difficulty or error or invalid product key messege

As I was explaining Product Key Finder programs not help you find a work with the operating systems pre-installed PK (Lenovo, Dell, etc.)

So ignore the Magic Jelly Bean advice that you have been given, unless it's a retail sale or license system builder OEM license.

If Windows 7 is shipped with your laptop... The KEY export is probably on a sticker on the machine.

If I were you - I would contact HP - they will probably provide you with the appropriate media (maybe free, probably at a low cost you) for your specific system.
