    Can someone point me to instructions on how to mount an extra internal memory for a satellite A100-147.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

    Upgrading RAM is quite easy: remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Turn around the laptop and remove the screw fixing the memory module cover and lift to it. Now you can insert a second memory module.

    Also, check your user manual. You will find more details and photos on this upgrade. It can be downloaded on the site of Toshiba, if you n t have more. ;)

  • Since installing new RAM, I now have a BSOD.

    I'm currently under Win 7 64 bit. I moved from 8 GB of ram, 16 GB, and after installing the new memory modules live, every now and then my system crashes with the BSOD. Here's the dmp file...
    http://www.wenatcheekennelclub.com/022713-33384-01.dmp
    Any ideas on what is the cause? Bad RAM? Conflict?

    These accidents were caused by the corruption of memory usually a driver, but since you updated your RAM at two different times, I ran two tests below.  First run Memtest and if that comes back clean run driver verifier.

    * Don't forget to download any other DMP files (especially those running auditor)

    * If you are overclocking reset all default before running these tests.
    In other words STOP!   If you don't know what it means that you're probably not

    1 - Memtest.
    * Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. http://www.memtest.org
    * Boot from the CD and let it run at least 5 or 6 passes.
    * Don't forget, anytime Memtest reports errors, it can be bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.
    * Test the sticks individually and if you find a good, test it in all slots.

    Any error is indicative of a memory problem.
    If a well-known stick fails in a slot of motherboard, it's probably the slot.

    2. Driver Verifier

    Using Driver Verifier is a dubious proposition. Most of the time it will crash and it will tell you what is the driver.

    * But sometimes it will crash and will not tell you the driver.
    * At other times it will crash until you can connect to Windows. If you can't mode without failure, then you will have to resort to editing the registry offline to disable driver verifier.
    * I would suggest that you first back up your data and make sure that you have access to another computer so you can contact us in case of problems.
    * Then do a system restore point (so you can restore the system using the functionality of Vista/Win7 Startup Repair).

    * Under Windows 7, you can do a startup repair disk by clicking Start... All programs... Maintenance... Create a system - with Windows Vista repair disc, you need to use your drive installation or from the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu.

    Here is the procedure:

    -Go to start and type "auditor" (without the quotes) and press enter
    -Select 'Create a custom settings (for code developers)' and click 'Next '.
    -Select "Select individual settings from the list complete" and click "Next".
    -Select the entire document except for "Low resource Simulation" and click "next".
    -Select "Select driver names from a list", then click "next".
    * Select all drivers that are NOT supplied by Microsoft and click on "Next".
    -On the next page, select "Finish".
    * Restart the system and wait as he crashed to blue screen.
    * Continue to use your system normally and if you know what are the causes of the crash, do it several times. The objective here is to get the system crash because Driver Verifier is stressing out the drivers. If it is not planted for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.
    * If you are unable to Windows because it crashes too early, try safe mode.
    * If you can't mode without fail, try to use the system from the installation DVD restore to bring the system back to the previous point of restoration that you created.

  • Installed new module memory for laptop, found original was bad, while windows Vista does not start by going blank after the "status bar".

    I have a Windows Vista running on a Sony VIAO laptop and has been updated with level 3 to 4 GB of memory. During the memory test, I found that 2 GB of original module was bad and replace it with the new 2 GB module end back where I started with 3 GB. However, Windows starts only at a little past the rectangle with 3 points moving ("State Bar"?) and them it goes to black and the desktop never appears. I tried to roll back to the last working version of Windows settings, but always the same results.

    What can I do now? Is there a way to check and fix disk errors?  Is it possible to install Windows XP Pro or I have to go to Windows 7.  I even has System Mechanic Pro running on this laptop and it did help some casued the problem. It's as if the disc is damaged for some reason any.  Only with Vista felt this helpless.

    It seems to me that the new memory you have installed is bad or incompatible with the system.  First, remove all chips and reinstall them and then try to make sure that they are correct and secure again - don't just press them in place, effectively remove and the replacement and make sure they are in the right direction.

    Boot from the Installation of Windows Vista genuine disc (or you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc with recovery options included in this topic. If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (perhaps made on another computer, or perhaps in SafeMode with network if it does not - that would be a good sign if it is true). You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.  Select recovery options and follow the instructions until you see the menu.  Once there, select the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and run it and see what it says.  If it detects problems (and I suspect it might), you may need to replace the new chip memory.

    I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try other options.

    Good luck!

    I don't remember how long I've had this problem. What I've done is pushed the button on the monitor. This allows me to see the page, but does not allow me to enter data. I usually have to shut down the computer and then restart it again. What needs to be done to solve this problem?

  • My computer hangs at the Windows loading screen OR blue screen comes up saying I need to install the hardware.

    Hi, I recently got a computer and I just realized that whenever I turn it on after a long period of time (eteindre turn off during the night, turn it on morning) my computer freezes at windows startup screen. Sometimes a blue error screen appears and after reading it, I would say that a material is not installed correctly. After graduating with my computer, I am sure that I have installed the latest updates, but im not sure what is causing this problem.

    Would be very happy to help!

    Thanks a bunch! : D

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

    Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    I just used satellite 2800-200 with 64 MB of memory on board, she also had 128 MB in memory but does not see it. I though that it was a problem compatiablety so ordered the new memory 128 MB ram pc100-sodimm Arch shows what that good memory for this machine, but he does not see this is y at - it something wrong with the motherboard or I missed something please help!
    Hi Paul
    As much as I know a lot of third-party RAM module are not recognized correctly. In my opinion, you should change it and check Toshiba or Kingston RAM module because this module are tested with Toshiba units. Otherwise contact the store you purchased this module and explain the problem to them. If they ensure that it works they must be able to give an explanation.
    I have Satellite 1900 and last year, I had a similar problem. To save my money, I ordered a cheap package and it was a bad idea. I sent it back and ordered from Toshiba. It was a little more expensive, but it works perfectly.
    Y at - it a clear indicator or a code to indicate if a stick of RAM is registered or unbuffered? I would like to know for sure before I add that extra RAM for the empty slots this Mac Pro (2013) that a 2 x 8 is installed.
    The 4 and 8 GB sticks are not saved while the sticks of 16 and 32 GB are registered. As you seem to know, you can not mix registered and unregistered sticks. For example, you can only add 4 or 8 GB sticks to your present 8 GB sticks
