Just upgraded my phone for the latest OS and now none of my ringtones or alerts work.  They all say "Invalid ringtone selected, you must perform another selection."  Any ideas on how to fix it?

  • Setting custom ringtones, blackBerry smartphones

    Hello

I downloaded 3 ringtones for my 8320.  I tried to put ringtones customized for specific people.

I went to the list of contacts - edited my contact and apply a custom ring tone.

Then in the box - less advanced - profiles I tried specifying "use an active profile EXCEPT for: and selected the friend I assigned a specific ringtone."

When my phone rings that person or I receive an SMS on their part... It still sounds generic ringtone for all calls and sms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the blackberry forums.  Ringtones ringtones and SMS are set up differently as my friends shared above.  I agree with JSanders, SMS is a bit complicated, but once you get the hang of it - it won't take you long!  It took me awhile to do - but I did it! I followed these sub JSANDERS management.

It's complicated for SMS ringtones, but possible. Follow the instructions here:

This work around will allow you to receive specific alerts for e-mail and messages from specific senders:

(Works with OS 4.2 and later)

    1. go to the profiles on your BlackBerry and create a custom profile, naming the name of your sender targeted.

    2. Edit and change the custom ringtones that you prefer for this contact message notifications, Messages of level 1, MMS, phone and SMS for this profile. You don't change things like the calendar, tasks, and Messenger alerts do not matter for individual users.

    3. once all your ringtone settings are defined for the new custom profile, save the changes. Now, you will be in your list of profiles and see your customized profile that there are listed with the standard.

    4. now click on the wheel, and then select new Exception.

    5. title except for what you want (would be smart to again name the name of this particular contact).

    6. in the line, click the trackball or trackwheel and select the user in your address book. They should show now in your line.

7 scroll to the bottom and change the option use the active profile in your custom group newly created profile.

    8. you can dislodge the "Custom phone Tune" box if you already have a custom phone tune for this contact, or leave it and set it in the new custom as well profile.

    9 save the changes.

Now once you have followed these for each SMS contact - click Save as indicated by the number nine.  Go back to your profile and click on normal or hard for the sound profile. Make sure that you have all of the exceptions already in your area of exception for those you did a SMS tone for. If you do, remove them so you your SMS does not work.  You can actually set your ringtones under each one that you set up as well. When you change your SMS sounds, you can click on the phone and change your ringtone to that specific one.  Hope you can understand this.

  • How change SMS ringtone blackBerry Smartphones?

    Maybe silly,.

    but please do help me

as I'm so alienated by my new BB.

    Thank you

    Vito

Go to profiles (your ringtones, silent, loud, etc...), do scroll down to advanced settings, in the menu, select the profile you want the SMS ringtone changed, then scroll the various tones and select a desired, then press on save, then save again, until what you press save when you exit the profiles.  Fact.  If you bounce from one profile to another, then you must do so for every profile that you are using.

I say this from memory because I don't no my phone is close, but I'm pretty positive that I am wrong on this issue.  Note, the Pearl and smaller skin of the BB screen the advance at the bottom of the pop-up window and scroll down to see.

    Good luck.

  • Ringtone blackBerry Smartphones for e-mail or SMS

How can I change the ringtone for my emails or SMS?

    Edit your profiles.

    1. Select the profiles icon

    2. a box will appear where you can quickly choose between Loud, vibrate, quiet, normal, phone only, and outside. If you like quick-change device profiles and select the one you want and get out.

    3. If you want to change the tones assigned to the applications in the device, and then select the last option, advanced options
(some older models and 'Advanced' OS 4.1 and below will not step - so advanced is not present go directly to step 4 below).

    4. Select the profile you want to change. (Loud, vibrate, quiet, Normal (default), phone only, Off)
Note: on the 8100, 8800 and 8300 models: do not click on the trackball. Instead of this, click on the menu button to the left of the trackball).
Note: The profile that is in use will tell: (active)

    5. you will now see a list of all applications that can have an assigned tone (browser, calendar, level 1 Messages, Messages ([email protected]), Messenger, MMS, phone, SMS, job ect..)

    6. Select the application you want to change the tone / notification for

    7. you can now edit the tones of the case and Holster / notifications.
    (a) select between: none, Tone, vibrate, vibrate + tone
    (b) select the range that you want to use
    (c) Select Volume (the options are mute, low, medium, high, climbing)
    (d) to select the number of beeps (the options are 1, 2, 3)
    (e) select Repeat Notification (options are None, flashing LED)
    (f) if value vibrator or vibrate + tone and select number of Vibrations (the options are 1, 2, 3)

    8. repeat a to e for each of the applications set out in number 5 above

  • Cheek finished the normal ringtone blackBerry Smartphones ringtone

This is an unusual situation.  I have this ringtone which is a song about a cartoon character.  Some children texted me and I recorded in my ringtones folder.  Later I tried to text to a few members of the family. On one of the attempts, she didn't not reach because I hit the wrong choice (don't know how).

Anyway, since then, the song lights up constantly and plays throughout.  For example, if I get a text, the sound signal of normal text turns off.  But eventually, the song started playing and I can't stop it until he played through.  If I get an instant message from someone on Blackberry Messenger, the normal message sound alert goes off, but then the song starts and resonated throughout.  If I make a call, after I hang up the song goes out and plays throughout.  If I send an email, as soon as I hit the button send, the song goes out and plays throughout.

Nothing I have tried seems to work.  I have checked all my ringtone and contact settings. I deleted the ringtone/song of my ringtone file and delete some messages and emails on phone where I sent it to myself or a family member.   Place the phone on silent doesn't seem to work.  Once the beginning of the song I can't stop until he plays every 30 seconds. Anyway, I still have the same problem and the song will not leave play.  So, I think you can see my dilemma.

Someone at - it suggestions on how to solve this problem?  I thought that maybe it was a virus, but the person I know who has the ringtone has the same problem as me.  I recently installed a new update/upgrade of the Blackberry operating system.  Do you think that there is a problem with the update?

To correct your problem first turn off your phone and remove the battery for 7 and 1/2 minutes to completely restart the hard disk. I myself was stupid enough to download enough porn for a year, so I have several viruses on my phone that I work currently through.

  • Ringtone blackBerry Smartphones

Can someone tell me how to make my phone ring when I get a call. Even when my phone rings, there is a symbol telling me that my ringer is turned off. How do I turn it on? Any help is appreciated!

Must be a "speaker" icon in the upper left corner of your screen.  Click on it and select change sounds and Alerts below.  In this list, select the phone ringing.  Choose the one you want in the drop-down list and click on it.  Now press the BB menu key and select Save.

Once that is done, make sure you have a selected profile.  Click on that icon "speaker" again and see what is profile has the check next to him.  I have mine next to normal; I suggest you try this one for now.

I suspect that you may have had all alerts Off on the list of profiles.

Let us know if this solves your problem (your phone is.  We cannot help you with your dear personal.)

  • Change of preferences through contact ringtone blackBerry Smartphones

    Here's what I would do.

For a bit of contacts I have, I want to put the ringtone to "cut". I can see how to add a custom ringtone, but how can I cut it?

    THX

Check the attachment MP3 very short with the name silence.zip

Unzip it. There is no silence.mp3 file.

This is 1 second long silence mp3 file.

Copy to the folder of your ringtone on your micro-sd card or your memory internal and assign this ringtone

    for a contact.

When it rings - the silence.mp3 will play. And there are the recorded silence.

  • Selection of blackBerry Smartphones URL links

Sometimes no matter how I try I can't highlight a URL so I can go to this link.   I adjusted the magnetic sensitivity, but it doesn't seem to help.  It's not like it NEVER works.  It's just usually very difficult to get the updated link highlight and sometimes I just gave up and waited until I was in my pc.  Does anyone else have this problem?

This is a joint report... I often have the experience and found that, like any device, get used to its operation is the key. Sometimes I'll zoom in on the web page that is big enough to allow me to select what I want. With practice, I'm getting better to choose things without zooming quite far.
