Emergency restore F11 with files saved in backup directory

Operating system: XP Professional sp 3.

Out of the blue, my laptop lost the ability to recognize what type of file to use with which program. When I went to the c drive folder options, there is no file type.

I could not run the system restore. Even from the command line. He never found something.

BIG MESS.

I used the f11 option with emergency recovery to copy my files and progs in backup directory

Now most of my files, etc., are trapped under the admin(not shared) and it says I don't have permission to access the admin files.

I read somewhere to move the backup directory * under the shared users directory and I did. Still miss me a LOT of music, Documents, etc.

Please let me know how to solve,

Can you help me?

Hi DianaAdams,

You have restored your computer back to factory settings. Fear that may lose your data (music, Documents).

Factory restore is a favorable condition of a computer as that set up by the manufacturer of the computer and is specific to the manufacturer. This process will put the computer to its original factory condition, data (and programs that were installed later) on the computer will be lost.

You may need to use non-Microsoft software to recover lost data, or contact the manufacturer of the computer. Search the Internet for recovery software that can help you in this task.

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • Restore a single file from a backup of VDP VM

    Hi all

I have a question on vSphere for Data Protection. We installed this product a couple of days and I hope that this will help us reduce costs from Symantec Backup Exec. I read somewhere that you can restore a single or multiple file from a backup of POS. I've been clicking on my way in the restore option but I can't find this option anywhere. Does anyone have experience with this?

    Thank you

    André

Firstly, you need a VM, which has been saved at least once. On this virtual machine, you can open an Explorer with https://'IP-of_your_VDP-appliance': 8543/flr /.

As you click on "Advanced Login"

Powers the: a user who has access to this virtual machine

vCenter credentials: only that user, that you used to configure your POS with /vdp - configure. (Nested user does not work)

After login you can restore files from all virtual machines of your backup-store in this virtual machine.

If you use Internet Explorer and only see a blue screen, can you try to click on the button "compatibility view".

For the restoration of level in Linux, you need a Linux VM with an Explorer.

There is a limit of maximum 5000 files by restore.

  • Restore Windows XP files saved via Windows Easy Transfer on the same computer

After downloading and using Easy Transfer to back up files on an external hard drive (which is where they are now) for the purpose of upgrading Windows XP to Windows 7, I have now decided not to continue because the purchase of a new computer with Windows 7 already loaded is a purchase that I'll soon make and so I'd be disadvantaged I now realize given the short waiting period if I pass with a Windows 7 buy some now.
My question is: I am now able to reverse the procedure and re - install these files which are located on Easy Transfer in the external hard drive?

  • Retrieve a data file from a backup on another server

    Hi all

I usually take backup hot data files to a different like that server because I don't have enough space in the same server. I have

    SQL > alter tablespace XXXX begin backup;
    SCP/bu1/oradaTA/XXXXX/XXXXX host [email protected]: / db1dw/oradata/backup/dec2010/XXXX
    alter tablespace end OPS backup;

If I want to recover the datafile can I normally do the drop offline from the data file and copy the backup data file that is located in differnet thorugh scp server and check the online data file? and the database is in archivelog mode, but I dislike abt log files. I just need to recover the data file as the last backup.
or do we have to use all the controls recover datafile? If need to use everything recover datafile command go where it will recover the data file?

I have not any backup or restore script, I just manually PCs from data files.

    Help please, thanks in advance...

It is a ' user backups managed by "in the terminology of the Oracle.
The database does not care how you copy (backup or restore) the data file from a backup location. So, you can use scp to copy the backup to the backup file.
HOWEVER , you can recover only a datafile to the single point of the backup. Given that the rest of the database (i.e. all the other data files) have advanced further, you must RETRIEVE the DATA file and apply all ArchiveLogs since this backup of data file point to the current point (i.e. recovery would be until it again online that would apply automatically).
Therefore, if you have had the "transactions" (e.g. deletions) against this tablespace, they will be replayed.

  • Defective single file restore: "datafile... already restored to the file.

    Hi all

I ' am doing some tests with RMAN restore and restore a single file in a new directory.

First execution of the restore script (run {restore datafile 14-'... » ;}) has been a success, but in the case where I deleted the restored file and restart the script, RMAN complains with:

"datafile 14 is already restored to the file...". ».

This means that RMAN keeps track of and refers to the previous actions of restoration?

I find this rather strange RMAN behavior because I want RMAN just to use to deal with some files (should not make assumptions that the DBA can do or what he or anyone else has done it before...).

Y at - it an option to 'force' RMAN to restore files, regardless of what happened before?

    Thank you,

    Heiko

If you do not have access to windows and you used the built in backup, you will have a problem.  There is a way pretty cludgy to get home if you know where it is.  You can download Acronis true image home and convert the backup Windows a one acronis > find the file > convert a windows backup.  Not pretty but doable

  • Restored HD from a Time Machine backup of my old iMac (stolen) from my new MacBook Pro.  Not all the files have been restored.

My iMac 27 "(2011) so my wife 13 '' MacBook Pro (2011) were recently stolen after our House was robbed.  My wife got a new MacBook Pro and I restored it successfully its data (selected "backup restore Time Machine" during the installation of its new MacBook Pro).  However, I also got a new 15 "MacBook Pro in lieu of the iMac 27".  I have, once again, selected "Restore from Time Machine backup" (selected the iMac as the backup source) when installing my new MacBook Pro.  When it was finally over, I told Time Machine to inherit from the backup.  Unfortunately, none of the files in the My Documents folder or the photos in my photo library have been restored.  Was it a bad idea to try to use the backup of the iMac as a source for the MacBook Pro (both running El Capitan)?

is it possible that your documents are stored on another drive which was not part of the backup plan? or is the HD in the big enough MBP to inherent the old backup.

If you open the time machine with the original backup disc, you should be able to browse the content

If the files are found, you can restore by right-clicking (or CTRL + left mouse)

  • Backup/restore problem: some files not restored

My hard drive died.  Fortunately, I had a recent backup.  I managed to restore most of my files and also finally got access to my file of Microsoft Outlook data (due to gurus on these forums).

I'm now trying to recover the data for my financial program.  I checked the files in the backup folder, and they understand the data I want to restore.  However, when I go through the restored files, I don't find them.  I try to avoid having to enter again about 1 1/2 years of data.

The backup was performed on a laptop Dell running Vista Ultimate and was stored on a USB external drive.  It was made using the backup/restore program that comes with Vista.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you in advance.

I'm now moving extra files on my USB key for added security.

I would like to know if there is an easy way to remove duplicate files that take up more space on my hard drive.

However, the original problem is now solved.

    Thanks again.

My system has blown. I used the system restore gateway with backup of user files. Running again. However, my images and Document file folder doesn't have any of my data in it.

I searched my C: drive and found the backup. All my data is in the file Documents & images. My question is: How can I copy the Backup\Documents and the Backup\Pictures in my current photo system and Document files.

As you have guessed, I'm not real informed on the use of a PC, especially when something goes wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

    ·        Have you tried to copy the files and photos from the backup location and paste the folder documents current systems by selecting all the files and right-click on it and clicking on copy and paste it in the folder of document? What happens when you do that?

I suggest you to send all the files and other data that is present in the location c:/backup on the USB drive and then copy the files to the USB in the documents folder and check.

  • In any case to restore files from a backup .inp to reformat?

OK, so recently I had to reformat my Windows 8 Pro ultrabook. I tried to update the operating system, reinstall the OS before that I had to format and restore from a previous restore point. Unfortunately, none of the above methods worked as I couldn't get past a never-ending startup screen or a blue screen error. When I tried to reinstall the operating system he saved all my files from the user to an external hard disk in a .inp file format. It also creates a file migr.xml and include.xml to this folder location. After crossing the include.xml file in a text editor, I saw all my files that were lost were in the .inp archives. Is there anyway to recover these files?

I know that it is about a year too late, but if anyone runs into this problem (like me) there is a simple solution. Go to the dell Web site:

    www.Dell.com/.../en

and download the MigRestore software, this will allow you to recover the INP.files in your backup folder. Dell Backup and Restore software will not recover the files that contain files in XML document which is a major flaw of course.

I spend hours looking for the solution, so I hope that this will save someone some time.

    Kind regards

  • CS4 guard saving a backup file

We just got CS4 and I'm having a problem with the backup. It is not that the files are not save, the problem is that it keeps saving a backup file. When I opened my model (a configuration file on my desktop) I rename the file and save it. At this point he recorded under NewFile.eps and NewFile - 01.eps.

I want to stop the recording of a backup file each time I have save a new file. I looked through the preferences and can't seem to find anything. Someone has any idea how to disable this feature, it's boring. Suggestions? Thank you

It is probably not a backup file, but a second work plan.  In the Save dialog box, look for the toggle which told him to pay attention to work plans. (I'm on CS3, so can't tell you exactly what to look for).

Why do I have a loud hum as well as audio recorded when I play a file saved using Microsoft LifeCam with the latest version of Microsoft Essentials?

HUMS are usually ground fault loops.

If it is a test of laptop with and without the power connected (using battery instead)

The mic can also have a cut wire, etc.

  • Why windows backup did not restore all my files?

He was set to back up all the files (documents, music, photos, etc.), but I restored my latest backup of the system and it seems to have restored some valuable files that I thought it was supposed to be back up.

Somewhat confusingly, I have a folder containing many shortcuts to some of the files that are apparently not here, but can open the destination via the shortcut folder although it don't or unable to display the folder in Windows Explorer.

Any help to work out what is going on would be greatly appreciated!
    Matt.

Display the hidden files and folders. If no go, sfc scan. They should bail out you.
