  See if you have a defined zoom filter. Settings > general > accessibility > Zoom > Zoom filter set to none. -AJ

• Satellite Pro P - new LCD Inverter

  I've had my laptop for about 3 years now and last week, half lower of the screen flickered for a few seconds. I never thought much of it, but in recent days, the problem has become more noticeable. I did some research autour and this isn't a rare problem, across all the notebook manufacturers.

  I've been advised to connect an external monitor to see if it sparkles in sync with the laptop, if it isn't then it's probably a LCD Inverter fault.

  No one knows how many of them would cost here in the United Kingdom, or if they are all compatible?

  I'm trying to remove the inverter. The cables that go from the inverter to the main Board are easy to remove. (This is a connector). But I can't remove the cables that go to the LCD inverter. Is this also a connector? I should just shoot it? I guess it's a connector, as I see it for sale on eBay, the inverters are without cables, but I just can not remove it by shooting. Can someone give me some advice, please?

  Unfortunately I can't go into details but, as far as I know FL inverter is connected to the motherboard and it is connected to the connector or kind of jack. It should be just removed.

• HP15-N096EA: screen inverted colors, also flickers back to normal

  Model: HP15-N096EA

  When the laptop is turned on the screen colurs are reversed i.e. Blue becomes orange, white becomes black etc. sometimes it flickers in normal colors i.e. Blue shows as blue etc.

  I checked magnifers invert colors is not lit but when I turn it on the color switch reversed the normal colors of course. There is also a flickering vertical as all other vertical lines is missing or phases in and out.

  I started in safe mode to see if it is a driver problem, but the colors are reversed again, I booted into the BIOS and once again the colours are reversed and just to cover all the bases, I started a live Mint Linux DVD 17.1 and the legendary green of the distribution of currency was a pretty lilac. I also tried high i.e. contrast left SHIFT + left ALt + PRTSCN.

  My feeling is it's the monitor or the graphics chip and I cover more towards the monitor. Tomorrow I'll do a screengrab to see how that comes out and will also connect to an external monitor to see if the flicker and shimmer is always present.

  Whereas it is literally a month and 6 days to ensure bad enough, I would have liked a little more than a laptop seized started failing.

  Update from yesterday: I made a screengrab of HP using the tool cutting in windows 7, it shows the reverse color that is negative, I saved this screengrab on a USB key and it opens on my Mac, the picture shown correctly and not as a negative.

  It's the image that is displayed on the laptop, there is no inversion of color, no graphics settings are displayed not correctly resolved, I actually set all settings back to default values.

  

  It's the screengrab of the laptop because it displays from another computer, which in my case was my Mac. The screen seems to be display properly, so the image of screengrab below but for some reason, it displays a mirror - image his as an overlay on the screen.

  Hi, this problem has been resolved by me, I just bit the bullet and took a gamble on the screen being faulty and successor, the laptop works very well and is displayed correctly.

• Failure of inverter/backlight HDX

  The LCD screen on my HDX X 18-1200EO (FU794EA) died at the age of his period of warranty more than nine months. I understand from my research, the most likely cause of death is a failure of the inverter or backlight failure.
  
  What I want to know is:

  1. The TDK TBD512NR ups would be the correct replacement for the LCD 18.4 "? Some sites call a UPS 16 "...
  2. Is it possible to tell the inverter failure after a backlight failure without actually replacing the inverter?
  3. Should I do more troubleshooting before you buy a new inverter?

  Some of the symptoms:

  • The image is displayed on an external monitor.
  • I can see the image on the laptop LCD when I point a flashlight at it.
  • Other components in the display cover (the logo LED, wireless antennas) work.
  • Sometimes the backlight turns on for a few milliseconds when I toggle the external video output with Fn + F4.
  • The backlight turns on for a few milliseconds so that I open or close the lid (when the lid is open to 20 to 30 degrees).
  • There is no sign of failure before it goes black display.

  What I tried:

  • To remove the battery and the AC adapter / CC and hold power for more than 30 seconds.
  • To start with the cover of the display of different angles (from 20 degrees to 120 degrees).
  • To find obvious OS or driver conflicts.
  • However, I do not have to update the BIOS or all drivers.

  By the way, I am running Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

  From what you described, the inverter is the culprit, but there is no real way to find out until you replace the drive. However, this is the cheapest part, this is where to start.

  If the backlight is burned, then the entire screen will be replaced. There are suppliers on eBay that sell just the backlight, with the inverter also, but the lights aren't supposed to go out and very often the screen will be damaged if you try to get him out.

  You will need to reconnect you access the page, give it a minute to load.

  Start with the coverage of the speaker in the left column and continue your way through the videos until you get to the inverter.

  The logo HP LCD on the back of the cover no has nothing to do with the inverter or the backlight, incidentally.

  Do not touch the BIOS, it will not help in this case.

  I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 PSAW3C-047017 with a HARD MK6465GSX Toshiba drive. After experience, some consecutive failures of start-up, I was told on the Toshiba forums to use Drive Fitness Test (DFT of Hitachi).

  I burned the ISO to a CD and booted from it (I must press F12 for boot options and select the optical drive), which is to run successfully. However, it does not detect my drive HARD - the list is empty.

  Is there something I need to do to make visit to DFT?

  I cannot commend this third part software features, but I want to know if you still have these failures to start your portable computer satellite?

  I have a problem with my Toshiba 6100 (2 Ghz Version).

  My screen flashes 3 - 4 times, becomes dark and 2 seconds later the image disappears.

  This problem is known as a FL inverter problem? Someone had a similar problem as mine?

  I think that has to deal with the automatic shutdown of the display function, but I do not know if it is controlled on the motherboard or on the circuit of the inverter.

  Does anyone know more on this subject?

  My problem is solved.

  I removed and reinserted the graphics display adapter. Maybe he got loose or contacts obtained in the dough.

  Now everything works fine again.
