IP address? DHCP?

Here in the United Kingdom, I want to connect using as WRT WRT ngn350 via a Modem, AM200, a necessity has no modem phone line. Through the books several times and failed to connect seems to be due to my bad setting of the IPs, and even features DHCP if neither manual mentions these issues arising from two separate devices.

I don't understand that one device should use DHCP. Is this correct? If Yes, who is better to give this responsibility to? Further on this point, one of the devices wonder at the top of the page, if IP to be obtained automatically. I don't remember that Scripture which device. Get my addresses dynamically from the ISP, I wonder if the ref in the config of the said is internal within these two devices on my network.

Both devices have default IP 192.168.1.1 address and clearly, it will not work so what address should I change and what it takes? Unless you advise me otherwise, I would like the router, WRT350N, stay like that and cottages on IPs but the router will not be the first device that would be a problem on the LAN?

If you have other tips on configs for this arrangement say. I used to use combined devices and indeed bought the WRT by mistake because of the "vagueness" of the spots in this regard.

The AM200 is router with built-in modem. This is the main problem. I recommend only to use a single router.

Two recommended alternatives:

1. set the AM200 in Bridge mode and use the WRT for your internet connection. The problem is, however, maybe that's not possible if your ISP uses PPPoA Protocol to connect to the internet. The WRT doesn't support PPPoA, only the AM200. I think that some providers of access to the use of U.K. PPPoA. If this is the case with your ISP then this alternative is no option for you. With the AM200 filled internet WRT handles all related functions. The WRT also distributes IP addresses in the local network through its DHCP server.

2. use the AM200 as internet gateway/router/modem and use the WRT as ethernet switch and single access point. In this case, all functions related to the internet are on the AM200 only. The DHCP server is on the AM200. You will need to change the address LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 WRT and disable the DHCP server on the WRT. Then one of the WRT LAN ports connect to your AM200. Do not use the internet port on the WRT.

There is a third alternative, but I recommend not to not use. Chaining routers is less then optimal and some experiences of people disconnects, instability and other probems with this type of installation:

3. allow the AM200 as router on 192.168.1.1. Change the address LAN IP of the WRT from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. Now connect the internet port of the WRT to the AM200. Now, you use two servers DHCP, one on the AM200 portion 192.168.1. * on the side of LAN of the AM200 which is also the side WAN/internet of the WRT (i.e. The WRT gets its internet IP address of the DHCP server on the AM200). The other DHCP server is the DHCP server on the WRT which now serves addresses 192.168.2 * to whatever it is connected wired or wireless to the WRT.

Still, I do not recommend no. 3. You have chained two routers. First of all, everything is routed on the WRT then on the AM200 (or vice versa). Both routers are running NAT.

I would recommend N1 if possible (that is, if you use PPPoA). If it is n ° 1 and n ° 2.

  • Time Capsule do not pick up address DHCP and cable modem...

You just bought a Time Capsule and a couple of Airport Express. If none of these devices are connected together via Ethernet, they seem to have set themselves up, and all is well.

That being said, I tried to create a mobile network instead of pure wi - fi and am studying various behaviors that are not as expected when I rear hub to the Internet Time Capsule, but need to isolate and go 1 bit at a time... (it works not as well as suggest Apple instructions on homelessness of installation)...

    If:

    1. configuration of the modem cable shows that DHCP is 'ON' and supplied address range 192.168.0.x by 192.168.0.y,.

2 Cable modem wireless is disabled,

3 Time Capsule Wan is connected to the cable modem, Ethernet

4 Time Capsule is configured to request its address IP, DHCP

    5. Airport Express is in Bridge mode and have addresses such as 10.x.y.z (appears to be from a Time capsule).

    6. safe as Time Capsule is set to be as DHCP and NAT

    7. There is NO other device in this configuration connected by Ethernet except the cable Modem and the Time Capsule.

So, why is the IP address of the time Capsule 76.181.45.xyz? (The address is NOT in the range of the DHCP as described in the #1; it is not supposed to be?) ....

    Whence this address?

A friend says this address puts the "other side" Time Capsule of the cable Modem, directly on the Net?... (Shouldn't worry?) ....

If none of these devices are connected together via Ethernet, they seem to have set themselves up, and all is well.

It's because you didn't have the devices connected via Ethernet before you set up the. Given that the installation utility saw a wireless connection, it is assumed that this was the way that you want to connect devices on your network at all times... so he put it this way.

If you had an established connection Ethernet before you ran the installer, then the utility would have detected this connection and set up the airport to "expand using Ethernet", does not extend to assistance of wireless.

(it works not as well as suggest Apple instructions on homelessness of installation)...

If all goes well, you don't talk about this document... Wi - Fi base stations: extend the reach of your network wireless by adding additional base stations Wi - Fi - Apple Suppo... .. Since the 'how' information in this article is at least 4 years late, bear little resemblance to the latest version of AirPort Utility and some of the information are simply not true.  This document if trash is what you... He'll probably do more harm than good with regard to the details of setting.  The article is OK for basic general information, however.

    6. safe as Time Capsule is set to be as DHCP and NAT

It should not be if your modem is a modem/router "" or type 'bridge' of the device which is also DHCP and NAT services. The fact that you have disabled the wireless on the device confirms that it is both a modem AND a router. That being the case, then you have two devices that both struggling among themselves to try to control the same network... AND do you also have a network error called Double NAT... something you don't want.

Probably the best at everything again and provide us with the number of brand and model of your "modem", that we can confirm what it is that you have, then the correctly configured time Capsule to work with this device. Once the time Capsule is set up correctly, it will be easy to put in place the other airports.

  • Laptops acquire wrong address DHCP, DNS and gateway wireless

I have problems with two laptops. For some strange both acquire the bad DHCP, DNS and gateway (server) respond when I try to access the Internet via Wi - Fi. For some reason, this does not happen when I use the LAN (cable) connection.

that is instead to fetch the address: 133.24.56.78 (no real address), the system retrieves / uses 111.22.33.44 (again, not a real address). BTW, these two systems are configured to fetch automatically get IP addresses and DHCP. I tried to fix the connection in both cases, but it did not work.

What can I do to fix this?

    Problem solved.

I changed the router to WEP (WPA - PSK) encryption.

I bought a Nighthawk D7000 AC1900 a few weeks ago to replace by BT Home Hub 5 which I use with 1 BT infinity. A few days ago, I decided to try to book a number of IP addresses that I need this so that the Port Forwarding works properly but no matter how many times I tried woudn't work. I don't know if this has been affected by the new firmware or not.

    Did anyone else experienced it?

Well I ended up coming back to the 1.0.0.32 firmware and guess what it works perfectly.

  • DHCP server press PowerConnect 28xx series / address pool by VLAN

    Hello

I am reading the manual of the PowerConnect 2824.

I am considering buying this switch, but I have a question related to the functionality of the DHCP server.

Here my question: I want to have different VLAN and use the feature of DHCP server on each of them. Then can I have different address DHCP pools by VLAN?

    Example:

    1-16 ports VLAN1: IP subnet 192.168.1.0/24

    VLAN 2 ports 17-24: IP subnet 192.168.2.0/24

The manual is not clear on this.

    Your help is welcome.

    Kind regards

    Tom

    Daniel,

Thanks for the reply. Another question does this mean that the 28xx series switch DHCP server, recover the IP address (from the range configured) on all the VLANS configured? So if a device on VLAN 2 issued a request DHCP, it will get an IP address from the same pool as for example a device on VLAN 1.

    Kind regards

    Tom

  • customers on flexconnect AP cannot get dhcp address after upgrade wlc

    Hi community support.

I have a WLC 2504, with 30 APs 1130 flexconnect mode. The WLC runs the code version 7.0.240.0. In order to register new models of ap, we need upgrade to a recent code.

In the last attempt to upgrade to version 7.4.121.0, the AP has joined the WLC, mappings of vlan in flexconnect have been checked and were very good. However, customers were unable to get an address DHCP (169.254.x.x). The DHCP server is local to each location, is usually a 3750 x that serves as a master switch.

connection via cable, clients received address dhcp. so the dhcp server isn't the problem. Updated for the 7.6.100.0 code, but got the same behavior.

Finally, we decided to downgrade the wlc code 7.0.240.0 once again, and everything started working again, but I need upgrade we buy access to new models of points.

Someone else had a similar problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

What is the vlan native you are using? If it's the number of vlan 2, then it is known bug CSCui73764

    Symptom:

Flex series APs 1130 & 1240 mode, won't see traffic, for example, DHCP, ARP. on some wireless LANs.

    Conditions:
    (1) flex connect local switching
    (2) AP 1240 or 1130
    (3) any version before 7.4.121.7
    (4) native vlan x, not work y vlan.
    (5) failed to get the ip address of the user.

    Workaround solution:
change the vlan native to a surprisingly high number, so no wlan will never be are mapped to a very high bridge group number.

    Other Description of the problem:
Telnet on the flex AP. here is an example. VLAN 3 is the vlan native Flex ap, it is correctly mapped to group 1. now WiFi is not working is the one that is mapped to vlan2. below, carefully, the vlan 2 is mapped to fill the 3 group. It is the forum where we hit the bug. Therefore, it can be any combination of wlan-vlan-native vlan.

  • Satellite C870-1J6 wired LAN DHCP problems

    Hi all

Here, I have a new laptop C870-1J6, which makes my life miserable. It won't start not reliable PXE, and the network card also does not start in Windows.

On a cold start the PXE boot Gets an address dhcp fine most of the time, but a warm reboot fails most of the time.
In windows this NIC also does not start. After five to ten minutes, he finally gets an address from the DHCP server. Rest of the network works fine.

No points for guessing the manufacturer of the network card, of course, there a realtek :-(
"RTL8102E/RTL8101E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller.
    PCI ven: 10EC, dev: 8136

None of the solutions, or can send Toshiba somehow? because I don't think I can do a lot on the PXE problem myself.

At first, I have to say that I m really wondering why you have problems of LAN under Windows.
Have you noticed these LAN issues from the first day of use?
Are you using the original pre-installed OS that you got with your laptop or a facility clean or even company?

Maybe stupid question, but I assume that LAN is set as first boot device, right?

  • WES610N has not managed a DHCP requests of beneficiaries to E3000?

I can not get my WES610N to transmit DHCP requests via wireless to my E3000 router.

If I connect physically E3000-> WES610N-> laptop, it'll pass the DHCP request and get network access to the laptop.

As soon as I use the WAP as provided for in my media center with Wireless between E3000-> WES610N a wired connection between WES610N-> mobile/XBOX/PS3 none of the DHCP requests are passed along, and no access to the network is provided.  The wireless signal remains strong to WAP, and I show the client wireless and assigned address DHCP at the end of the router.

I am running the latest firmware to factory on the E3000 (tried DD - WRT with no luck).  Wireless security is WPA2-Personal with AES and a MAC filter to allow only a list of wireless clients.  Run auto-channel and connected to the 5 GHz signal.  I even tried to add MAC addresses to filter for customers physically connected to WAP with no luck.

Is there something I'm missing here, or is this a common problem?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Of course, it was something simple that fixed...  I had checked the firmware on the router was in effect, but for some reason any it never came to mind to check the firmware on the bridge itself.

I received a chat session with the help of Cisco and they gave me the link for the updated for the WES610N and the WET610N firmware.  After a re-flash all my current configurations for network addresses, authentication and appointing remain - so all I had to do was to remove the wired connection to router at the bridge (which was required to connect and perform the flash) and give it a try.

Initially, with the bridge still sitting next to the router it would drop and re - connect about every 20 seconds, an improvement, but still not acceptable.  As soon as I moved it 10 + feet away from the router (as shown) the connection remained strong and is more randomly disconnected.  The final resting place has been to my media center, which is about 30 feet more far laterally and down a level in my house.

After flash it now connects quickly, successfully passes DHCP queries on multiple devices, successfully conducts tests of speed/transfer and does not abandon the connection only once during a few hours of play.  The speeds are always disappointing, maxing out at about 70 MB/s on wirelessN - but that's a lot for streaming media and ~ 2 x more than my cable internet service can pull down.

Anyway, here is the link to the firmware if you are still with me after this long explanation:

  • VLAN voice N3048P and DHCP issues

    Hello

I just received several switches for our N3048P and 2 x 4048 access layer - WE for our base layer. Are the N3048P VLT'd between two of 4048. There are 4 x N3048P of one on the other. The 4048 possess all gateways via VRRP.

I have 802. 1 x works with my Windows client test, and I can get the phone (Cisco 7941) to acquire a DHCP address if I put it on a port "switchport mode access. However, if I change the port to a general port with vlan enabled voice and 802. 1 x, the phone does not have a DHCP address, but the PC attached to the phone Gets a DHCP address in the VLAN correct.

Remove the routing of the 6248

Delete the IP address that you assigned to 4 VLAN on the 6248

On the S5624P create VLAN 4 and assign an IP address

On the S5624P implementation of the programme of assistance to point to the address DHCP IP

Make sure that the S5624P performs the routing VLAN.

  • IOA FX2 constantly asking DHCP, exhausting vlan1 with BAD_ADDRESS

I have a Win 2008 R2 (and then upgraded to 2012 R2) DHCP server which is loads BAD_ADDRESS was complete the scope to the vlan1.  All other scopes for other VLANs are not affected.  Wireshark has indicated a mac address dell AIO management that the switch shown on our PortChannel3 (two interfaces 10gbe fiber optics).

But in our config IOA, we have a static set of the intellectual property of 10.1.0.103/16. The DHCP server is at 10.1.1.1/16 and also intellectual property offers in other scopes (10.2.1.1/16, 10.3.1.1/16, 10.4.1.1/16 and vlan5 10.5.1.1/16 vlan4 vlan3 vlan2).

I had to put the Dell AIO mac address in the DHCP deny list of filters and turn it on so that it would not respond and plug our full of BAD_ADDRESS address space.

No idea why the IOA is dhcp requests even if we put it to a static IP address?

Okay, I think I can find something.  On the config of switch, I am able to access by ssh to the MCC and issue a command to connect to the switch 1.

I see that he has this entry to see the race,

    interface Vlan 1

    DHCP IP address

    MTU 2500

    no downtime

    So I conf t break-in

    no ip address dhcp

Now I'm running wireshark and have not seen this mac address in my filter for bootp at all yet.  They may have been the problem.  What's weird, it's who knows why if it was on DHCP, that our server would not at all be because she a IP address and done with it.  Who knows why each minute the IOA kept DHCP and our server kept declining and then marking it a wrong address.

Anyway I don't have an ip address on vlan1 on the IOA because did not make any L3.  I also already have an IP address for the management ethernet 0/0, but I fail it anyway at his direct IP unless I port stop the e Gig chassis CMC management is well connected to our switch.  So I managed by ssh to the CMC and issuance of an order of connection.

The other AIO is on his own Brocade switch isolated with its own regime of intellectual property and all that is NOT connected to our LAN.  This brocade switch is simply a network storage IP for NFS on the VMS and our data backup appliance.

  • WLC and DHCP

We've got a supernet wherein the WLC is distributing addresses dhcp for wireless clients... radios motorola to be more precise.  My question is the WLC allow dhcp for clients wired on that subnet as well?

Any Yes or no supporting documentation would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

After a successful transfer from the client to the DMZ anchor controller, an IP DHCP, authentication of the client address assignment, and so on are handled in the DMZ WLC.
