iPhone 5 iOS9 eats storage to 0 bytes

Hello

iPhone 5, 16GB, iOS 9.2, carrier: EE, go back to iTunes not iCloud

Since I have installed iOS 9, my iPhone guard engulfs storage of spare capacity.

The first time I install it, the available storage descended from 2 GB to 0 bytes. I deleted about 500 MB, but it made no difference. Available storage remained at 0 bytes.

I have synced to iTunes and it seemed to solve the problem partially. Suddenly, I had a 300 MB of available storage.

However, every week or so since then, the same thing occurs. Each time, I deleted some applications more, photos or videos or audio files. Sometimes, he creates the available storage without having to save me. Sometimes, I have to save before the available storage is displayed.

I believe that now, I must have removed well more than 5 GB of data, and yet my iPhone once again shows 0 bytes of storage available. Currently it shows 12.3 GB of storage used.

What is going on? How can my storage capacity several times to get less, when I am deleting data, do not add it?

Well, I have solved this problem later with the first backup of the iPhone to iTunes (which curiously does not seem to happen when you sync iPhone to iTunes), then erase content and settings and restore the iPhone from the iTunes upward. I got 5 GB of memory!

iOS9 on a mobile device requires iTunes 12.3 or higher, which in turn requires a computer running OSX 10.8.5 or higher.  Update of the system only checks the updates for the current version of the system you run, but that itself can be updated.  It may or may not be possible to upgrade your computer to the system requirements. Find your computer on the web site of http://www.everymac.com model and near the bottom of the specification of the system section, he will tell what versions of the operating system, it is able to run. If you can not run a newer system, you will not be able to sync this phone to your current computer. If she can run 10.8.5 or higher, you can either buy a download for Apple OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion code online, or you can try to install the free El Capitan OSX 10.11.  El Capitan can run slower on older machines and require the additional purchase of RAM.  Making a big jump in versions of system is also more likely to affect the old software.

Now, you might say it has worked before. For some people he did, no doubt unintentionally on the part of Apple and who wants not to say that it will work the next time.

  • iPhone Documents and data - storage files do not match

My iPhone running iOS 9.2.1 6 is showing the storage capacity almost complete when I sync via iTunes on my iMac. It shows (mostly music) data and applications to 51 GB more not less Go 61 of "Documents and data.  And of course, on the iPhone itself under "settings > storage" it shows 112 GB used and only 1.8 GB free.   The problem is, the list of applications and their consumption of storage under this summary shows just the music, pictures and my apps with just the 51 GB total storage.  There is no sign of the 61 GB, nothing for me to remove.  I saw many other threads on this problem and have tried the solutions proposed, including the removal and reinstallation of my email accounts. Also did a reset of the phone together. Any other suggestions please? Thank you very much!

Did you check the settings/general/storage & iCloud storage use/manage? If you tap the apps listed, you can see the data stored in the "Documents and data.

  • ios9 optimize storage of iphone does not?

I have an iPhone 4S with 16 GB of memory running with iOS 9.1... I have run out of memory and decided to use the option 'optimize iPhone storage '. I currently have about 4 GB of photos on this phone. I am using iCloud photo library and have confirmed that the photos were indeed uploaded to iCloud. Even though I have "IPhone storage to optimize" checked, my pictures are always 4GB expands on my iPhone. I don't optimization works. Any ideas?

    Thank you, Mike C

I don't think Apple has released the details in-depth the feature, but what I've seen so far indicates that the photos will remain on your phone to their size, until space is needed for something else. It occurs immediately after the activation of the iPhone Optimize storage option.

  • iPhone iOS 9.2 storage

I have a model of 16 GB iPhone 5 s. I recently updated to iOS 9.2. The update, I had some problems of storage so I deleted some apps and removed the music. Then, for a while, I had ample space of about 1.6 GB. After 2-3 hours my phone prompted me to new storage is almost full, so I checked the space and was surprised to discover that the phone used 11.7 GB (max) and had 0 bytes remaining. Then I counted manually the storage and I discovered that the actual storage that was used was only 6392,3 MB. While using iOS 9.1 I had no storage problems and had a lot of space left with all the apps and music. It's very frustrating. Please help me!

Exactly I have the same problem, removed the need for speed, all bunch of photos other apps for the space I have left is always less than 200 MB before the upgrade, I had at least 2 GB of free

  • iPhone and iPad photo storage

I have recently bought a new iPad Pro and an iPhone 6s and also implemented exactly the same in terms of photos - they access the same library of Photo and both are on optimize storage device and both have the value NOT to download and keep the originals.  Two questions - they take more memory than they should be? -62 on my iPhone and 30 GB on my iPad (I know they're going to take a bunch, but that still seems a lot so we have 63 000 + photos in our library). And, secondly, question, how can be different on each device using the same settings and access to the photo library even the amount of storage they take place?

    Thank you

    Keith

Optimized Photos stored on your iCloud iOS devices that will dynamically change library based on the amount of storage you have at any time in time. So, Yes, they could be different amounts, and they would take place as storage space they can dynamically. Here are a few items of media that can clear up your questions:

  • On photos on iphone with iCloud library storage

How can I limit the space used by photos in ios9 without deleting icloud?

With iCloud library enabled, you cannot delete a photo on a device (or iCloud.com) without deleting each device which uses iCloud photo library (iCloud.com). In order to save space on your mobile devices (and indeed your Mac if you want to) turn on the optimization of the pictures on these devices (settings > photos & camera > optimize storage on your mobile device and Photo preferences > optimize storage on your Mac)

Dynamic optimization, it reduces the resolution of your photos, if necessary, so that you don't notice it occurring initially. However, when necessary, it is very effective, and users have reported libraries being optimized for much less than 10% of their original size in some cases. My own library is about 9% of its original on my phone size.

In most cases, optimize your photos should be enough to raise the space related issues on your device. However, if you have an exceptionally large library you may need to disable iCloud photo library on your mobile device and use instead the photo stream. You can then use a computer to manage the photo stream photos and have them automatically imported into you iCloud photo library.

  • Best way to transfer the content of s/iOS5 4, iPhone to new iPhone 5SE/iOS9?

Hello! I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1 s and wish to transfer its contents to a new iPhone 5SE (when I get it).  Is this possible on an Apple Store? From a backup?  What is the version of iTunes minimum required for synchronization with iOS9?  Thank you!

    David Elliott wrote:

12.3.2 iTunes is the minimum version.  (The current version is iTunes 12.3.3).

Moreover, you will find much more simple peripheral future transitions if you keep your current Apple software (by applying the software of Apple's software updates as soon as they are available).

    Thank you

It seems that you met the locking of Activation. Your friend buy this new phone from Apple or an authorized reseller? If this isn't the case, then I would say that the previous owner has not deleted the device in their iCloud account. You must get in touch with the former owner, if you want to activate the phone. If your friend purchased the new device, then they would need a copy of the original receipt and who bring the device to a physical Apple store and ask for help.

Have you tried to force reboot the phone by holding down the button sleep and home for 10 seconds, until the Apple logo comes back again? You won't lose data, but it can cure a few glitches.

Restrictions put in place in settings/general/Restrictions? If Yes, turn them off and try again.

  • iPhone/iCloud storage issue

I have a 64 GB iPhone 6s and 200 GB of storage iCloud. Whenever I plug in my iPhone and watch my storage, I see that I have Photos 14.12 and 27,67 GB of data and Documents on my iPhone. However, I use iCloud for photos and helped my office and documents on my MacBook Pro to be accessible from iCloud. My question is, why do I all this on my iPhone when I thought that it would be on iCloud? Wouldn't that means that it would not directly on my phone and I have a lot more space on my phone?

(Hard drive in the sky)-based solution to what you think, is that iCloud is a traditional cloud, but in fact, it is not.  It is a system of synchronisation/mirroring, i.e. post all your data and fills in all of your devices is available immediately.

If you are looking for traditional storage cloud base, you will need to consider options/third-party applications, for example for pictures - Flickr, Dropbox, Google; and for notes - Evernote, Google Dungeon, etc.
