  • Explorer.EXE error after the restoration of the ERD Commander

    Dell Inspiron B130

    Windows XP Service Pack 2

Recently performed a HD format and new installation of XP SP2. After I installed all the drivers and others, I checked that the system was operating normally. After a few days of use, Windows Update downloaded Service Pack 3 and asked me to install. I started to install SP3, but at about 50%, the laptop battery is dead at Midway through the installation. I plugged the laptop on the power source and power. I restarted the laptop and XP started only a completely black screen and the white slider. No ALT + CTRL + DEL, desktop icons, etc.

I rebooted the laptop of ERD Commander, ran the restore system and selected the first available Restore Point. Point of restoration chosen was recorded a few days before, and was the first recorded point after the clean installed XP. I rebooted the XP system. Wallpaper loaded with white cursor, but NO start menu or desktop icon. A message appears saying "Explorer.EXE Application error, press OK to exit the application" or something very similar. Did not write the error code, but can get if necessary. If I press the OK button (which is my only option), there is still no icons on the desktop or the start menu. Only the cursor. No access ALT + CTRL + DELETE or something like that.

Thinking about completely wipe the system and reinstalls the operating system. Any suggestions before I jump in this solution?

  • Infinite loop start after updating to Vista Home edition

I own a lenovo model 8705CTO mini tower PC.

At the end of July, an automatic update of Vista cannot install properly, which left the starting in a State sequence, appears:

"Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete.

    "Microsoft Vista Home Basic"

    for 10 seconds, then

    "Shutting down".

    for a minute or two

and restart again in the same loop.
    This loop lasted several hours.

    With the help of:

"Rescue and Recovery - repair Express."

    the following message is generated:

"Errors have been detected in the operating system."

    "Click on files" reveals:

    Details

    Status of name
    Bootmgr corrupt

The bootmgr file has 325 KB

Apparently, it was generated on 01/18/2008 and contains 333 203 bytes.

Operating system restore points prior facilities only are not available, since the automatic update has left the system with the restore than identical behavior points.

How can I recover without having to re - install the operating system from scratch?
It is advisable to remove the bootmgr file and it re - generate from scratch?
What is the procedure to achieve this?

    Thanks for your response (s)

I have created the disk as described, as the 64-bit version. The standard disc worked and allowed me to use repair tools.
BTW, these are already shipped with the LENOVO system, and I consulted the tools off during the START-UP phase, then by restarting the PC.

The answer to the success of the recovery could be found here, after that I tried
"Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete.
on Google and looking at various web pages:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/949358

(Restore points were crushed, because automatic updates have been selected, and the computer ran unattended for more than a week by substituting the last point valid restore as update VISTA tried to re - install the updates failed every night)

  • iPhone 6 won't restart after the iTunes backup restore

Recently, I've restored my phone to pick up things that have been deleted. He made through the restore on the computer then it said to wait for iPhone restart but it has not restarted. should I let him sit and wait or what? I need a phone that I am traveling out of State tomorrow morning

A DFU restore usually recover the phone:

    • Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer, if it is already there ((you must have Windows 7 or later or OS X 10.8.5 version or later version)
    • Restart your computer
    • Disable any antivirus and firewall
    • Launch iTunes
    • Connect the cable of the device to a USB port on the computer (not a USB hub), but DO NOT CONNECT to the DEVICE AGAIN
    • Press in and hold the HOME and SLEEP at the same time for 10 seconds exactly, buttons until the screen goes black, then release the SLEEP button but continue holding the HOME button. If the Apple logo appears then that now the two buttons, you who was held for too long; start over.
    • While holding down the button HOME connect the other end of the cable to the device
    • You should see a message in iTunes saying there were a phone in recovery mode (it can take up to a minute for the message appears). When you see this message release the HOME button and the device must be restored. When asked DO NOT restore a backup. set up as a new phone.

Try several times, if this does not work the first time; It is difficult to do in DFU mode.

  • stuck in an infinite loop to lock the Explorer

This is the biggest problem of vista, that I have had since I started using the new 07

I did accidentally drag a folder and the left edge of the desktop to create a toolbar in the process
I didn't know this feature before and thought it was great... but then I dragged accidentally the same folder in this toolbar, creating a sort of infinite loop. Now explore keeps freezing upwards and restarts every 10 seconds... even after several reboots and safe mode

I say to myself that I could remove this folder on the desktop to solve this problem, but explore crashes as soon as I touch anything on the desktop. Everything else, including firefox, sounds good, but how you can use windows without exploring right?

    any help will be appreciated

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  If you can get in the face of this problem, System Restore should put everything back to normal. You may need to use the floppy start-up or a recovery disc to access this option.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (perhaps from another computer or on the problem if you can get into safe mode with network and it doesn't have the same problem).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

AppleHFS.sys/AppleMNT.sys are used to allow access to filesystems OSX JHFS +. Restoring Windows on Mac backups can be painful. If you have already fresh install of W7 on the internal drive, try the restore without installing any driver BC. Please be aware that such a restore is not aware of the partitions on your internal drive and can erase your internal drive.
