IR Hardwear not detected in Media Center, put in place

Hardwear IR not detected message in Media Center, put in place with Comcast.

Hi Ransonck,

Method 1

First of all, I would say that you rerun Setup from the TV in windows media center, depending on your hardware configuration and the type of TV signal, by visiting the link below and check if it works.
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Media-Center/learn-more/record-TV/tutorials/broadcast-TV-setup-signal.aspx

Method 2

If the step above does not have difficulty, try to download and install the latest drivers for the TV tuner card by visiting the manufacturer and check if it works.

Method 3

Also check if the TV tuner card is compatible Windows vista by checking the Windows vista Compatibility Center.

I hope this helps!

  • All channels not detected in Media Center

I have a HP m9500t with a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1290 (model 85xxx, Combo ATSC/QAM, SW Encode).  I was able to set up Media Center.  He said my cable company (Comcast) as digital when it is scanned for channels, it came only with 23, which are local channels which would be offered with a regular roof with a digital converter box antenna.  I tried to manually configure and select analog.  When I tried to watch a channel, it was all pixelated.  My antenna cable is connected directly from the wall to the connection "Ant".  I read that some have connected to the socket 'tv' on the back of the computer.  In the pamphlet, he said to link with the entry of 'Ant '.  This problem would be because digital is not til June 12?

Just a heads up in case anyone else has this same problem.  I disconnected the cable entry of "Ant" and trendy on the output "tv".  She recognized as an analog input.  He acknowledged all my channels.

  • WMCE54AG - dialog box 'Site not designed for Media Center'

I just bought WMCE54AG media extender on ebay and it connected to my PC Windows XP Media Center.  It seems to work fine except that I can't access Online Spotlight.  I get a dialog box saying "Not designed for Media Center Site" and asks me to view them later / now display / Cancel.  I select view now and get the Online Spotlight menu options, but can't do anything with it.  This feature works fine on my PC.  Is there some setting I have missed on the Extender?  I tried to update the firmware, but when I have intalled, it says I have a newer version, so I cancelled it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, after trial and error, I finally understood what the problem
    a. the Linksys Extender is not compatible with IE7. After rolling back to
IE6, I could see online focus in the media extender. As a note of
careful, I had upgraded to IE8 beta 2 and Spot online has stopped working on
my media center PC as well. I had the same error as I did on my extender. This
in the end is how I realized that the problem was with the IE version.

I have Windows XP Media Center version and had no problem to watch and record TV live until a few weeks ago. All of a sudden, I get an error "tuner not installed." I did a system restore to a date where the tuner works and it has failed. Any ideas for me on how to get my tuner to work again? I saw a bunch of other questions like this on the web... but the technical details of it go above my head. Not sure if someone got a good solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Update your tv tuner card driver. Make sure that the video decoder works.

  • New Netflix account will not work in Media Center

I changed my Netflix account and now cannot access Netflix in Media Center. Does anyone know where the data that needs to be changed? Y at - it a registry key, I can update or delete?

    Hi Jude525,

For re - enter our login information and once again be able to connect to the Netflix app we need to clear the registry entries containing connection information.

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, see the link below. Back up the registry
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-the-registry

    1. open the Registry Editor by clicking the Start button, type regedit into the search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. in the registry editor, navigate to the following location.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Extensions\Netflix

Delete the folder of Netflix or just the entries on the right side to clear the saved logon information and once more be able to re - enter your login information.
Now launch now the Windows media center you should be able to connect to your new account Netflix.

    I hope this helps!

  • My legal copy of Windows Professional 7 does not include Windows Media Center, how do I get it?

I bought my copy of Windows 7 Professional as an upgrade to my computer Windows Vista of origin. Windows 7 was purchased through a special student discount program that Microsoft offered. How can I get Windows Media Center legally without having to 'upgrade' my copy of Windows 7 Professional (which, according to Microsoft, you should already have Windows Media Center installed)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

I thought about it. Everything you have to do is go to control panel-> programs-> turn windows features turn on or turn off "windows media features"-> expand-> check windows media center.

    It's for Windows 7 Professional.

  • Cannot complete the installation of windows media center. IR receiver undetected.

Hello, I have a card Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1950 USB and you want to use with windows media center to watch and record tv. My setup is that the card is connected to the digital receiver via composite cables. It has a remote control and an its own ir blaster, but apparently that is not good enough for media center. Is there a way to bypass the verification of ir receiver so I can watch and record tv in media center? I have windows 7 Home premium 64-bit. Thank you.

Savan, without receiving cable and IR blaster (not to mention the guide of)
the provider) Media Center will not be able to change the channel on the set top
box to record TV. And he will need the guide its supplier to plan
    records.
