Is iphoto a duplicate

I have about 11g of photos on my Macbook Air.  They in office / my documents/photos.

Finder shows also 15g of photos in my Iphoto library.

Are they duplicates?  Delete a game?

I don't know it is duplicated, although iPhoto Library should be to ~ / pictures.

/ Desktop/My document/photo is not the appropriate place for the iPhoto library.

    Is this correct?

If so, how does this work?

I tried to search for this topic, but Apple did a great job naming their new photos Photos app you get only as 1 billion hits back of a simple search.

  • duplicate photos in iPhoto and cannot empty the trash

After update to El Capitan, I found that iPhoto was no longer on the machine. I prefer to use this program, so it downloaded. When I added my photo library, I had lots and lots of pictures duplicate. When you delete them, I found that I could not empty the trash. I tried different options of first aid and ended with even more duplicate images. The Trash now has more 20,000 points, and I can't empty it.

Looking at my pictures folder, I find an iPhoto with 184 GB library, iPhoto-2 library with 36 GB and a library of Photos with 26 GB.

When I added my photo library, I had lots and lots of pictures duplicate.

Import you this library? Or how did you add it?

  • I use iPhoto and have more than 6,000 images in the main library.  I have 7000 images in my iPhoto trash, some of which are duplicates of images in the main library.  If I delete the Recycle Bin will be double in the main library also deleted images?

I use iPhoto and have more than 6,000 images in the main library.  I just realized that I have 7000 images in my iPhoto trash, some of which are duplicates of images in the main library.  I need to remove the iPhoto trash, but if I take these are images in the main library deleted duplicate or are they "separated" as soon as they are to the iPhoto trash?

Empty iPhoto trash removes only the versions in the trash, not the versions that you still have in your events.

  • Export iPhoto and Finder-creates duplicates

How can I prevent exporters from duplicates of photos version 1.5 to the Finder.  Since I upgraded to El Capitan 10.11.4 whenever I have export photos unmodified to the finder it sends a NEF format version and a version in the form of file JPEF.  The result is that I now have double the photos.  I want only the NEF files.

I have not found a way to export only the original RAW file.  You will need to simply delete the jpeg version after export.

  • vs iPhoto photo avoid duplicates

My library is 35 GB and my iPhoto 29 GB library, I think that the pictures are duplicated. How can I make sure that I do not delete all the photos? How can I combine all iPhoto and Photo photos? Is it possible? Thanks in advance!

You can delete the iphoto library after having migrated to Photos

  • Imported into iPhoto and now have duplicates of each photo

I am a new user of Lightroom. I imported my photos to Lightroom from iPhoto last week. I have no idea how or why it happened, but somehow, I have two copies of each photo in Lightroom. No one knows why it happened, and how can I fix?

Yes moving images will break the links to the catalog. If you want to move or rename, always do it in the LR library and the changes will be automatically updated on your hard drive.

I would say by dragging the masters to the images folder. Then import these files/sub-sub-sub-folders using import > Add

Then you can trash all masters and copies used by iPhoto.

  • Update errors (iPhoto, Garageband) inherited iMac 2011

I've updated an iMac mid-2011 legacy of OS X Lion to El Capitan, and almost everything works, except that the App Store again that Garageband and iPhoto (*) requires the update, but when I try to do updates: "Update not available with this Apple ID" / "this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by another user or the item has been repaid. or cancelled. "(for Garageband, has always been the same second part of that message; I could have sworn that attempts to update iPhoto used to give another like the one given below after a failed attempt to execute it, but now, it's the same mistake as with Garageband).  After that, I get another message, "We could not complete your request." / "there was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null) ».

(*) I understand not iPhoto is obsolete, but despite you ask to import from iPhoto, Photos actually seems to have done the job (maybe he did, but I can't be sure if I can't open iPhoto), so I would need to retrieve inherited photos (family).  If it is not possible to update, can someone let me know which directories to go to be safe?

The existing version of iPhoto is 9.2.1 - this will not work and says he needs an update (who, when tried, gives the error message "Point not available" / "the object you requested is not available in the US store.").  The existing version of Garageband is 6.0.4 - this runs, but says it needs an update.

To the best of my knowledge, the previous owner never bought either of these as a separate post (the previous owner never used Garageband and found it annoying that this has been included in the default Mac OS X software), and I don't think that the previous owner has even bothered where was able to set up a Apple ID , so I don't know why these 2 programs to give the above error messages when any other update very well.

    How can I fix it?

When Googling for solutions, the people of problems post answers to always seem to be a little different, although I knew to have duplicates on other readers might cause problems (I can say in advance that I don't have this problem: it happens with any connected storage device).  I tried the solution to drag *.app for these last records in the trash and then retrying App Store, but he wants to charge for Garageband and will not appear iPhoto at all (although it shows for iPhoto Add-ons that are always available).  I also saw a workaround complicated for those who want to stick with iPhoto instead of Photos that is to make a new account to install it (in fact I already did, by making a new account on this computer after the update to El Capitan, even if I get the same errors on the previous owner).  Also, before you just drag *.app for these last files in the Recycle Bin permanently, I need to know if other things must be removed to get rid of them, if they cannot be updated.

Before anyone arrives on my case about do not update the software on the Mac for a long time before Mac OS X El Capitan, also note that the previous owner had problems of health and health problems of the family during the duration of validity as it should have been upgraded, enough to take it past option of discord.

Apologies for any question in double (strangely, putting my question in the search bar or by post in these forums did not turn anything and sent me directly to do this post) or something that should be obvious, these last weeks have been my first experience Mac search in the system (i.e., more than occasional use during the family visit) since the mid-2000s , and this is my first time on these forums.

This you should get a completely restored system so that it was when it was first purchased. After that upgrades should be thin. There is no Apple given ID. All applications must work.

    1. The recovery of Internet startup by pressing Option + command (⌘) r immediately after start-up or that you restart your Mac. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo. Start-up is finished when you see the utility window.
    2. Open utility drive in the Utilities window, then use disk utility to erase your hard disk using the Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Quit disk utility when done.
    3. Choose Reinstall macOS (or reinstall OS X) in the utility window, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
This installs the system provided with your Mac, when it was new.
  • How Merge iPhoto, Aperture, library of Photos (and avoid duplication)?

Hello, I had several iPhoto and opening libraries which were badly named and who had no doubt duplicates. I have now opened and Photos created new libraries. Then the Photos seems to have renamed some of the libraries, I think that each of my old iPhoto/Aperture libraries has a corresponding photo library (except one).

I would switch to a lightroom finder-hosted workflow and I want to get all my photos in a big file (or a folder with subfolders dated), with all duplicates marked for deletion. Ideally, I'll end with a master and a modified version of the final files, but if it's too hard, I'm OK with a few masters.

Is it possible to automate this process?

Attached a screenshot of the mess...

I would like to use Power Photos to merge libraries of Photos into a library. Pictures lacks tools to merge libraries.

Photos of power can move photos between libraries of Photos, as well as find duplicates.

  • iPhoto events?  I want to CONVERT but NOT Album... possible?

I update for Mac OS and I have a folder called events iPhoto in Photos with 1400 events, mainly just some simple pictures.  I've read some threads here that explain how to convert in Albums, but I don't like albums that I already have my albums put in place.  I want just the missing file (my OCD)... without losing the photos.  Or are these copies and I just delete?  And suggestions or help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Steve

Those who already are the albums - when you migrate an iPHoto library your iPhoto events are converted to photo albums and stored in a folder 'iPHoto events' names - that are not options, that's what happened when you migrated - How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

Now you can manage the albums as you like - combining them, deleting them, placing them in different or ignorant folders

and like all the pictures, they are simply a way to view photos - they are not a place or duplicates but simply a view of photos in your library

To remove an album right click (control click) on it and select Delete album

  • dupes in iPhoto libraries

How can I get rid of duplicates in different iPhoto libraries? I'm trying to carve out of disk space, so I can update photos from iPhoto, and I can see thumbnails in my two libraries different iPhoto that there are a few photos that are in both libraries. Can anyone help?

iPhoto has no tools to search for duplicates.

You can use iPhoto Library Manager tis earch duplicates and merge libraries into one.  If you do not yet have iPhoto Library manager, you can wait with double search until you have migrated photo libraries and the use of pictures of power instead. Photos of power is the successor of iPhoto Library Manager for Photos.

  • Photo library, duplicate photos of different resolution

I recently imported my Photos iPhotos library, in order to start weaning myself far from iPhoto and photo.  In my library (and in my Album of iPhotos events) I see pictures in duplicate, with one photo at higher resolution and the other at a lower resolution, with the auto tag 'photo stream.  I do NOT use iCloud as a backup of the photo (cannot afford to pay for it).

It would be nice to remove the photo in low resolution?  I guess it's the version of the photo in the photo stream on my iPhone and iPad, so maybe not.  I find it very confusing.  Thank you for helping me.

What you have said, it isn't really clear from the pictures or what they are. In iPhoto, the photos that were imported from photo stream should have been imported as images in full resolution on your Mac, it's mobile devices that see a smaller version of the resolution. So yes, import on a Mac should translate the keyword the photo stream, but they must be images in full resolution.

These photos appear in your photo album of flow on your Mac Voyez_ you pictures on your mobile devices and if so where.
