No sound from the computer after the upgrade to windows 7

Hello! I have a windows vista Home premium. last week, I decided to buy windows 7 Home premium that I did. I booted from the CD, installed Win7 and everything was fine. But as soon as I installed it, I realized there was no noise, and in the task bar, the volume icon had a red X next to it. Whenever I flew over the volume button, that it says "no audio output device is installed." it's a little strange because I have a realtek sound card that was prefect of work until I upgraded. someone gave me a link to the realtek drivers, which do not work either. and in the Device Manager, my sound card did not even appear! There was no "video and video games controller" or something like that and my sound card is not in any of the categories devicemanager. All I see in the other devices section in Device Manager is a "multimedia Audio Controller" which has a warning sign yellow (!) beside him. Maybe it's my sound card. is it? Please help, as I got my sound back!

EDIT: Problem solved: I was stupid and install Realtek drivers when I got a sound card DIAMOND

It seems that this device does not support Windows 8 based on the software page and drivers found here.  This means that a driver must be installed for Windows 8 or a driver of Windows 7 in compatibility mode.

This process has worked for some to find an original driver of Windows 8.

Otherwise, the Windows 7 driver should be installed in mode of compatibility as shown here.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    @dc57,.

I assume that you have the same problem, but for Windows 7 instead.

It looks like this device might have Realtek or Conexant to the provider of the sound card.

Visit this page and download the audio driver appropriate.  Download on the system, but do not install it again.

Browse to the downloaded file.  Run the file and let the complete extraction of the process.  Note where the package was extracted to and cancel the installation, once you have the opportunity.

Go to the extracted folder (usually c:\swsetup\filename).  Right-click on the setup.exe or Setup for audio driver and select Properties.  Select the Compatibility tab and select compatibility for Vista.  Some users have success by selecting XP on this property window.

Click apply/ok, and then run setup.exe.

This should install the audio driver in compatibility mode and give the best chance of success.

    Let me know what happens.

Thank you very much! It worked! I get a refund for Windows 8, but realize that I couldn't reinstall Windows 7, so am not stuck with a BONE that I don't don't like, but now, thanks to the advice have sound!

Driver Audio original was ahead AC 97 Audio for VIA (R) audio controller.  During updates, this changed to C-Media AC 97 Audio Device. Now I have no sound.  When I check in the properties for C-Media I get the message "this device cannot start [Code 10] any ideas how to get back my sound."  Thank you

If you still get the wrong driver of WU on your sound card, hide the update.

You go to the website of the manufacturer (sound card) and get drivers.

The sndvol32.exe file is possibly corrupt.

To replace, there are two methods:

    (1) open the Windows Explorer > tools > Options > view > make sure that show hidden files and folders is NOT checked. Access the c:\windows\system32\dllcache and locate sndvol32.exe > copy it into the following folder c:\windows\system32, overwrite the existing file. > Re-boot, you should now have access to your sound mixer and be able to place the icon on the taskbar. If for any reason any you do not find the dllcache folder:

    (2) put your XP CD in a driver, don't let it start. Then: Start > run > type in msconfig > enter or OK > extract a file > 1st enter in sndvol32.exe > in the second point of the box to your CD player > 3rd enter in c:\windows\system32 > extract file > run over if necessary, close everything and restart.

If the above does not work, re - install you 'audio drivers, although I would only do it as a last ditch measure.

  • Cannot connect to internet after a reboot before you uninstall and then reinstall the network card. (After the upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista)

This problem started immediately after the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) to Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit).  Again, I want to remind that I never had this problem before installing Windows 7.

-After a reboot, I am presented with the impossible to connect the network indicator (yellow triangle with!) in the task bar.  (It was how I was welcomed after the installation of Windows 7 is said by the way).

-The only way I found to regain connectivity is to uninstall and reinstall the network via the device manager card, date at which the computer always successfully connects and remains connected until the next reboot.

  • DeskJet 2546 b: Wireless print job stays in queue and poster printer offline after the upgrade to Windows 10

I write a fix I found for a pretty annoying problem involving 10 Windows and HP wireless printers.

My Deskjet 2546-b printer was printing OK wireless to the point 8.1 of Windows until that I upgraded my computer to Windows 10. Immediately after I upgraded to Windows 10, I could not scan, so I reinstalled the printer software and has worked for a day or two and then the printer would print not unless I restarted the printer or the computer - sometimes 2 or 3 times. This went on for a few weeks, sometimes it would be nice, sometimes, usually after the computer restarts, he would simply go offline. Once, he went offline 3 times when I was printing about 20 postage labels, recently he went 1 week without any problems.

Long story short, after a lot of troubleshooting and to help a friend to HP, I found the problem to be associated with the WSD/service Port in Windows 10. My printer still maintains a stable connection with my Netgear router (wireless to the printer light stays on blue) and I was able to scan from the HP software and I could ping the printer... but printing would be just stuck in the print queue (the spooler service) and the printer showed offline in the queue, hardware and windows devices , or when printing from a program like Windows.

I learned that if I went in devices and printers, until I sent a print job, if the printer showed offline, I could save time by restarting the printer simply and he would come every time (less painful) online.

But it's just a solution and not a solution.

Nothing worked... not even print and scan doctor. The final fix that worked was to define an IP address manually for the printer, and then I put the print driver to use a standard TCP/IP port.

Here is the step by step. Your printer must already be connected to your network (solid blue on printer).

Step 1: Make sure your printer uses a manual IP address

    (1) to obtain the IP address of your printer:

    • If your printer has a control panel with a menu, it's easy... Just look in the settings menu without wire/report and write your printer IPv4 address.
    • If your printer is not a menu of fancy and repower the computer and printer HP Print and Scan Doctor network menu display use (wireless), or you can connect to your router from a web browser (usually 192.168.1.1) and look at attached IPs (like me). Some printers can also print a report of the network when you hold down some buttons everything back up and running, but you will need to search the web site of the Internet or HP to find the process for your printer model - the report displays the IP Address of the printer.

    (2) once you have the IP address of the printer number, type this information in a web browser... like 192.168.1.x (where x is the last number of your printer)

Web page of the printer should find - otherwise, use another browser (you can use a tablet or iPad if you want). HP has several different forms of printing of web pages (embedded web servers) depending on your printer model, but they all have a large number of parameters.

    (3) since the network tab or section, look for a manual IP address configuration.

    (4) suggest an IP address or type in a new.  I've personally used suggest and then replaced by the last number 241. You want to use a high number, something in the order of 240 to 250 to reduce the risk of problems caused by your router assign this number to something else on your network. Note the 4 digits for the new IP address manual, you will use them later.

    5) click apply and close the web page of the printer.

Step 2: Make the print driver using the manual IP address of the printer

Open the devices and printers in Windows, right click on your printing device and select printer properties. Follow the prompts to get the WSD port and on a new local port...

    1) click on the ports tab.

    (2) add the Port.

    (3) click on after the first screen, and then click new port type.

    (4) enter the IP address of the printer.

    (5) next.

    (6) select the new port.

    7) click OK.

You have now two pilots displayed in the printers and devices window, you can now print... but you might not be able to scan and the HP printing software may not work as he might want to lets you add a new printer when you open it... If Yes, proceed to step 3.

Step 3: Remove print devices and install a new one.

Need to do this to get the software back HP synchronized so you can scan.

    (1) right click 2 print devices listed in the window of your printer and remove them by clicking on remove device.

    (2) open the HP printer Assistant software (from the icon on the desktop or you can search Windows by using the name of your printer).

    (3) installation/add a new printer... go fast and a new device icon is added to the printers and devices window.

    4) return to the printers and devices window and open the properties of the printer again for your printer icon.

    5) go to the ports tab (yet) and you'll see a new selected WSD port, select Port Standard, you created earlier in step 2.

    (6) you have now two print devices in the window (again), but now everything should work.

These two devices alone from here on out. Do not remove one and everything should work fine. At least it worked for me. I hope it works for you. I'm hoping a Windows update resolves this problem soon, I see many people who cannot print or scan wireless after they upgraded - not just the stuff of HP.

  • Pavilion dv6: Intel Centrino Wireless - n 2230 will not activate after the upgrade to Windows 10

    Model A3E82AV number

I've been avoiding Windows 10 because I knew something like this was going to happen, but I took the pludge.  Anyway, everything seemed to work but my wireless adapter.  After the upgrade, the rocker on the keyboard turns on and outside airplane mode, and I can't switch to map wireless in Windows settings.

I can get wireless adapter to turn on, go into that in a minute, but if I shutdown or reboot, the problem returns.

I had success in the driver update, or by manually installing the driver, I even read a tip to make the battery, hold the power button down while the battery is out and run it upwards.  I tried to reset the BIOs to default settings.  When the computer feels like it, the wireless adapter will start working after a reboot.  If I have the toggle switch, the light goes from orange to white, I can then activate wireless and connect to my SSID.  If I stop or restart, my wireless NETWORK card no longer works and we return to the toggle keyboard turning power on and off airplane mode.  Device Manager says it is working normally and the drivers are up to date.

I read a post from microsoft that says VPN adapters could cause corruption while making the upgrade.  I'm a professional, so I got a handful of cards, but also virtual cards VMWare Workstation installed, so I tried to come back to Win 7, remove the adapters, are re-upgrade.  It does not solve the issue.  While I was back in Windows 7, everything worked most of the time, but there were some problems with the programs, etc. which would not work right.  When I upgraded to Windows 10, some of these problems persist, so I checked my backups to make sure they were up to date and did a new install of windows 10.  I am now running a new image with just firefox, associate of HP and the different drivers Intel, I tried to install, and I still can't get the card wireless to tour consistantly on / off power after a reboot.  I thought for sure the nuclear option could solve the problem now I can't even go back to Windows 7.  I did mention to try some recommended drivers Intel, I found in other posts... I also tried to uninstall the driver, and install in compatibility mode, but that has not worked, either.

This one had me scratching my head.  I tried literally everything I can find on the internet in an attempt to solve the problem, and nothing will keep the work of consistantly wireless NETWORK card.  Any other ideas out there?

Looking at the forums, appears not to have a lot of people in all areas of this issue with different brands of computers and network interface cards.  If anyone knows anything else to try, I would really appreciate it.

    FIXED!

I think so.  I downloaded and installed the bios for Windows 8.  After that, I managed shutdown and booted my laptop 3 times and restarted once.  Every time you start after the installation of the firmware BIOs, the card automatically turned on and connected to my SSID NETWORK.  Since the upgrade to Windows 10 I saw not the laptop automatically start and connect the wireless NETWORK card and he did successfully 4 times now.

The file that I downloaded from the HP Web site was update the BIOs for Windows 8 version F.2D rev A.  The file name is sp68425.  I will continue to monitor and make sure that it was indeed the fix, but all great so far.

For people who can run on the same topic, here's a recap of what I did to solve my problem:

    Centrino 2230 installed 15.18.0.1 driver
    Update driver Bluetooth 10.0.10586.0

Updated the BIOS to the version of Windows 8 F.2D Rev A

If you decide to play with the BIOs firmware, just be aware that if things go well, you could cause more damage to your system.  I would only try this method if you are uncomfortable for the recovery of a faulty BIOS installation.

The instructions below were provided by HP support.  This has restored the function on the keyboard volume controls.  The referenced below drivers are drivers IDT high definition Audio Device.  I am not sure that it was necessary to reinstall the audio drivers.  It can only had to remove the USB dongle and back to restore the functionality of the button.  Note: the USB dongle is located behind the VESA Panel to the back of the PC.  No tools are required and the dongle can be removed and replaced without shutting down the PC.  VESA panel removal requires a bit of a steady hand, pulling the lip which is close to the connections on the rear panel.
