Is it me or is Workstation 7.1.5 a step backward?

I absolutely love VMware Workstation. The only problem I regularly is that VMs freeze often, and I have to disconnect and reconnect my headset wireless Plantronics (USB 2.0) in the order of the Nations United-freeze the virtual machine and bring it back to life.

I have considered upgrading to Workstation 8, but the advice I got in another thread here was that these problems are actually worse in 8 work stations. Needless to say, I was delighted to see the output of 7.1.5 which is advertised as "solve problems with USB 2.0 devices. But after using it for a few weeks, I find that the problems are much worse, not better.

Is it just me or other users find 7.1.5 to be worse than 7.1 regarding USB gel VMs devices? Does anyone know any solutions or solutions to this? It is a real pain...

Thank you

    Hello!

Our company bougth a MD3000i storage, PowerConnect 5448 switch and we have some 360-390 Optiplex745-755 and workstation. I installed everything step by step, I can config the storage with disk MD management, and I installed Microsoft iSCSI initiator.

The ethernet ports and iSCSI ports have obtained the IP address, name of the initiator is the same as

the name of the initiator of the host.

Well, the problem is that an initiator cannot connect to the MD3000i.

  • New desktop systems 'High Performance' of HP have contradictory specifications, which is correct?

HP Pavilion HPE h8qe for example. (Windows 7 (64 bit)), the specifications indicate the number of DIMM slots to be 6. The maximum amount of memory seems to be 16 GB. I bought HP 'High Performance' office computers in the past which had 6 DIMM slots and up to 24 GB of memory. Sales said 4 DIMM slots and 16 GB max memory (4 GB DIMMS). This seems absolutely backwards for me. Why desktop computers would take a step backward? I expect 4 or 6 DIMM slots each capable of treating the DIMMs from 8 GB to 32 GB or 48 GB memory MAX system. What is the truth... the support of offshore outsourcing seems to be reading the documentation which is conflict. I just want to buy another HP computer that moves me to the future rather than the past. Help me to know the correct specifications?

    Thank you

    Hi Bob,

The link you provided is dead.

You're right about the view picture and specifications are different.  I'll let know HP.  Good find!

You can watch HP workstations if you need more than 16 GB.  The price jumps significantly with 8 GB DIMMs using.  Some workstation models have 8 dimm slots, then you might be able to get up to 32 GB without using DIMM 8 GB which would take the low cost.

Does anyone have virtual print (ThinPrint) running for a guest W2K?

I refer to the version of ThinPrint that comes with the drive.

I can't seem to get installed it.

The only thing left to try is to create a new VM W2K and see if the problem persists.   I'll post back with the results.

Dear diary, I ended up coming back to VMWare Player 7... and printing, I'm happy to report. I'm not sure whether the installed printer drivers are product of ThinPrint.  That they are not listed as such.  But the VMWare tools install break thru without a hitch and I my print feature back.

Remind you it's easier said than done.  Here's the problem: VMWare Player 7 is still available for download from VMWare, but after install you it and it phones home page for VMWare tools, it always indicates that the update server is not responding.  According to the Wiki for VMWare Player, version 7 is no longer supported.

So how do you get the tools?

I tried to download the tools. TAR that VMWare offers, I believe than version9 dot something.  I had to find a way to decompress.  (That Windows uses. TRE?)  Then I had to make one. ISO to it so that I could mount it and present it to the player.   But it did not work.  He ran quickly and completely in silence and produces newspapers, but I couldn't figure out why she did nothing.    I have to admit that I do not exactly trying to decipher the newspapers set up.

So on to plan B, ugh: I downloaded the demo of VMWare Workstation 7 Pro, installed, saved the windows.iso that accompanies it, uninstalled, reinstalled VMWare Player 7, put the windows.iso in the root of VMWare Player installation on the host computer, modified my version 7 W2K VM settings so that my virtrual DVD player had the ISO mounted, booted up the virtual machine then I started the installation (setup.exe) tools of the virtual DVD.   (You mind, making a Manage / reinstall VMWare Tools will just try to shout to the update servers and fail.)

So I'll never be able to update the VMWare Tools, but it's OK because everything seems to be working.  I will make just a point to save this windows.iso so I don't ever have to be in this position again.

Just for the record, my exact versions are: VMWare Player 7.1.3 build 3206955 and VMWare Tools 8.4.9.30422.  The version of the tools is the one shipped with VMWare Workstation Pro 7.1.6 build 744570.

So I guess it's just a case of VMWare takes a step backward on W2K.  Maybe they will fix it in the future.   Of course I'm probably one of only a handful of people still need run W2K, so I won't hold my breath.

Thanks, Continuum, to try to help.

  • Conversion of WinXP

I'm new to VMWare for not yelling at me. I have an old XP SP2 machine (which may be dying) I need to convert and store it on an external hard drive until a new machine arrives for a client (which can be up to 6 weeks). The new machine will run VMware Workstation. Here are my steps. Can someone double check this for me since I'm a recruit of VMware?

After installing 5.x of VMware Converter Standalone on the source, I'll...

    -Convert the machine

-Choose 'This local machine' (note: this is for me a "Unable to obtain material information for the selected computer" error)

Then, my real question (once I got diagnose the error "get hardware information"), is what to select, on the destination, to simply create a backup of this machine on an external hard drive in case he dies tomorrow. And NOT decommission the source machine. I know I have to do it again if this source machine lives up to its replacement.

  • Installing TB31.3.0 on a W8.1 workstation; I want to delete the messages on the user agent of TB, but prevent deletion on the server. Where is the switch? When to install

    Hello!

I have already installed a TB user agent on my workstation 'primary': I can create, read, and DELETE messages ON the workstation and the server.
I want now to install a user of TB on a "secondary" workstation agent, where I can create, read and DELETE messages on the workstation. But I don't want the secondary workstation to delete messages on the server. (In short: I want that the function "delete" ONLY allowed to my primary workstation).
Is this possible? Where is the switch ON / OFF? (For example, this feature is available on the agent on my WindowsPhone).
    When I install it?

    Thanks for your support!

Using Thunderbird on your second workstation - the only option would be to create a Pop email account
so before you download anything, you must configure the account settings to "leave a copy on the server.

Tools > account settings > account for Pop mail server settings.
    or
Menu icon > Options > account settings > server settings

    • Letter: look for the e-news at startup
    • Letter: arrival of new messages every xx minutes
    • Select: automatically download new messages
    • Letter: Leave messages on the server '
    • Click OK

E-mail POP accounts can only download the mail from the Inbox server.
This will allow you to remove off the coast of the secondary workstation and leave it on the server.
However, Pop cannot see or download other folders on the server: IMAP only can see other folders these are read remotely. But in IMAP because records are a same as server, removing in TB will remove also off server.

  • After the Server 5.1.5 upgrade network user cannot connect by most workstations

    Hi all

    Intro

I upgraded one of my client of 10.6.8 Xserve server at El Capitan / app 5.1.5 server.

The server is configured with the network homefolders and mobile homefolders. We also use PCS. The 10.6.8 configuration has worked perfectly and still doesn't work. But now it is time to move on.

The upgrade process from was relatively smooth. I had to configure the interface network again, then check DNS (front / back) and I also had to re - install the SharePoint, including network sharepoint (via AFP) houses.

    Problem:

Then, I started to test the connection as users of the network on client computers. I found that it was not possible to connect from most client computers.

After entering the login credentials was refused immediately. As is the case when entering the incorrect credentials.

On client computers, nothing has changed.

Client computers running Yosemite 10.10.5 and some are running 10.6.8

As soon as I reboot the Xserve 10.6.8 original that's all is back to normal.

    What does not work:

Those who connect has worked well:

    • Mobile sync (on Unassigned Computers)

    • Log is as user network at home (on Unassigned Computers)

    • PCS worked fine. New settings have been made correctly. On all computers.

    • Automatically install some actions has worked well on all computers. It is a local administrator on the client computers. When connecting to the account, the network shares are mounted using PCS.

    • Resolution of the DNS of all client computers

    • DHCP works OK

    • Client computers running 10.6.8 seem to be not affected.

At one point one of the workstations involved that did not work, started working.

What I tried and not solve the problem:

    • Renew DHCP client

    • Removed liaison OD and put in place again

    • Trashed records managed preferences (these have been re-created correctly)

    Ideas on possible causes:

The most logical causes of this behavior might be:

    (1) client computer cannot find the master OD.

    (2) the powers of negotiation fails.

Since the Division of the OPPOSITION binding work, works PCS etc., the client computer is the master of the OD.

The latter seems the cause more lickely. Ticketviewer does not show tickets. Ticketviewer by using the credentials of a user of OD manually requesting a TGT works very well.

    All advice is appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Nico

    Hi Nico,

Maybe the problem is related to the AFP. Have you tried disabling AFP in Systempreferences and delete all shares. After this restart AFP and try to add shares again. Have a look at the access privileges. It is urgent to remove and re-add the userfolders on the server share.

    Good luck

    Peter.

  • Clocked at 20 degrees warmer since putting on 3.87 Rev A Bios Update on Z420 Workstation

    I have a question:

Not too long ago I put the Bios Update on A Rev 3.87 was considered to be as critical an update on my workstation Z420 (running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit), and lately I've found that the CPU idling at about 20 degrees more hot than before.  I used to hear creaking noises coming from the computer I learned normally come circuits on the motherboard power delivery, but as long as I heard those CPU would be on average around 50 degrees C at idle.  I hear these noises and now the CPU is on average around 70-75 degrees C at idle.  Not sure what the connection is.  HP performance Advisor tells me I'm in the normal range, but I want to just make sure that with programs like Autodesk Maya there, she become too hot and stop the machine.   I don't know what the temp high-end is considered maximum security.  This change could have due to the update of the Bios?

Thank you for your response and suggestions.  I check in my BIOS power management settings has been developed the extended mode, but the temperature has always hovered around 70-78 degrees at idle.  I checked Intel spec for this (E5 - 1650 6-core xeon) processor, clocked at 3.2 Ghz by heart, and although he said nothing on the TMax, he mentioned that the TCase (which he defined as the maximum temperature allowed integrated processor heat sink (IHS)) was 64 degrees Celsius.  Now my temperature of the case, according to my HP Performance Advisor version 1.7.7517.0 is only about 24 degrees C, but I put my fan a little higher CPU, about 2009 rpm speed.  This makes a little more noise, but my CPU temp has dropped to about 49 °.  "" Before the change of the fan speed has been slightly more than 1300 RPM while the Advisor I have always said that it is in the range "normal".  Is it good to get the speed of the CPU fan like that or do I have to go a little lower?

  • HP Z620: Z620 Workstation - Bios Rev 3.88 A Fn buttons does not!

    Hello

I recently got a strange problem with the Bios on my workstation HP620.

Keyboard is "Microsoft 4000 ergonomic keyboard".

Although the F5 / F10 keys normally work in Windows 10, they no longer work in the system Bios.

means I can't save the changes that I'm doing here. I can spend all the options, from disabled to enabled for example,.

but as I need to hit F5 or F10 to make/save the changes, and not works keys Fn, I can't change anything in the Bios now.

    What could be?

Reason may not be the Version of the Bios or the keyboard, as I already brought it changes a few months ago.

    Thanks for any help

reboots, manually install the new drivers and reconnectings did not work, I've been just the mouse and keyboard, so

Updated Windows drivers, this solves the problem, seems to be a problem of port driver.

  • install an SSD in Workstation Z600.

    Hello

Description explains it, I thought to replace my current HARD drive to an SSD.

I did a lot research on this myself, but thought I would check here just wrap there are any falls known issues/pit with a ssd in z600 workstation installation, I will look at adding a 1 TB ssd.

    1. installation of the material? the 3.5 inch z600 caddy would not accommodate a SSD, HP sells racks that will fit the z600?

    2. compatibility with the workstation? are there types of SSD that are best suited for z600 workstations?

    3. how to install and set up? is it as simple as connect via a cable SATA SSD and installing the OS? The Bios settings?

    Any information would be appreciated,

Installed a Samsung 500 GB SATA III Evo in my z600... and it works perfectly.

Installed last week and have been installing programs and saw the general use of it without any problem. I wanted to test properly before posting a reply. It would be possible that I have problems with it later, but I would of thought that if she had problems I would be this topic now.

My SSD reads to 282 MB/s and writes to 270 MB/s - write random shuffle (IOPS) (IOPS) 51612 47395.

Being a SATA II gen workstation his don't reach only the full potential of the SSD to 540 / 520 MB/s writing but reading what I read, you won't notice the difference even its so fast... and I accept CC suite, mozilla, (did not install 3dsmax yet) all boot in seconds compared to the minutes on the old HARD drive.

Just to note that does not use a HP recovery disk to reinstall the OS. I have used a .iso official windows 7 and booted from USB (although it has some things useful, I didn't HP bloatware) drivers installed perfectly smoothly. Windows serial on bottom of Tower

    1. installation of the material? the 3.5 inch z600 caddy would not accommodate a SSD, HP sells racks that will fit the z600?

"Via Scott comments, look for the version of"needs-tool"in the post above, mine cost £8.50 and takes every 5 seconds to fit the ssd for the z600. I would not buy the version of the tool-less sugguest... unless you have no hands and a lot of money. »

    2. compatibility with the workstation? are there types of SSD that are best suited for z600 workstations?

"Yes, they are HP approved detailed SSDs in, but the post above, I had no problem with the class of consumer SSDS, but you dice with what brand." The Samsung EVO 500 GB, no problem. You can use a SATA III ssd, but you can get questions as warned by HP as their firmware does not support certain types (so basically if it doesn't they don't help you) ".»

    3. how to install and set up? is it as simple as connect via a cable SATA SSD and installing the OS? The Bios settings?

"Make sure that your BIOS is set to RAID + AHCI (mine was already setup like that)." I used the samsung Wizard tool after installation and it will say that your PC is not set to AHCI, but I just ignore it. As long as ORGANIC and firmware are up-to-date, you'll be fine. Use a blindmate card to install the ssd (see above messages). Make sure you get the latest firmware on a USB before installing SSD, it should be the first thing to check after the installation of the SSD. You don't need to change cables SATA from II to III that the cables are retro-compatible... anyway have a SATA III in a z600 will limited you to speeds of SATA II (which compared to a normal HARD disk are ridiculously fast). Just plug in and install OS. It can be interesting to read about boring SSD, the magician of samsung suggest some things to do, but not all are necessary, either its life expectancy more performance... defintely deserves to be read to the top, if it's your first SSD as it was for me. »

Upgraded high hand the best I've done to my workstation and very simple to do. I'm glad that I waited for better support and cost down on the SSD before using.

You want to say a big thank you to Scott Harrison for his help on this. I nagged him much but really appreciated his advice! Congratulations to Scott and anyone else who posted help.

Enjoy your SSD, I'll do it.

  • HP Z600 basic workstation: 3.1 in a workstation Z600 Usb Adapter

I would like to know if the Z600 will support the 3.1 USB card and if so, do I need for installation?

Okay... that card should work in a Z600, but it will operate at the speed of 10 Gbps USB 3.1 standard?     N °

The HP Z600 workstation has no generation PCIe connectors 3.  It has 3 PCIe Gen2, 1 PCIe Gen1 slot slots and 2 PCI slots.  Here is a link to the page HP describing the slots of the Z600:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docid=emr_na-c01719695

Here is a note of StarTech regarding the speed of the card, points out: "the maximum speed of this card is limited by the bus interface.  Flow max PCI Express Gen 1.0 is 2.5Gbps.   PCI Express Gen 2.0 flow max 5Gbps.  High-speed PCI Express Gen 3.0 max is 10 Gbit/s.  Available bandwidth (10 Gbps) is shared equally between the two ports. »

These cards in PCIe USB 3.0/USB 3.1 generally need supplementation of power... the + 5V they need does not come to the top of the slot, but it's easy to find a device to SATA power adapter 4 son "molex" which can provide 5V power higher they need to meet potential power draw (compared to what needs USB 2.0).  All this information comes from research find how to add Texas Instruments base HP USB 3.0 card to our xw6600 workstations, that have 2 PCIe Gen2 slots (the others are Gen1).  Z620 gives you some Gen3 PCIe slots... Slot 2, 4 and 5.

Go to HP.com, click on Support, download the drivers.  Put in Z420 in the product name, then select the workstation Z420.   This will bring up the page drivers.  Select the version of your operating system.  (This is the usual place to find drivers)

Under "Software - management system" down load the utility BIOS Configuration (BCU) (International).  This tool will create a text dump of your BIOS settings file.  We can change this file, and then use the changed file to update the BIOS settings.

In this file, there is a section for the "install language", with several languages listed below.  The language with the * in front of it is the one that is turned on.  In your case, remove it * before French and add it * before English.  Then follow the instructions on how to use this file to update your BIOS settings.

  • Workstation HP Z240 Tower: can I install Windows 7 from scratch?

    Greetings!

The operating system on my computer is actually win 10 Pro demoted to Win 7 Pro. I want to know if I can install from scratch Windows 7 in my computer using the Windows 7 disc with the computer.

I was told, the operating system is Windows 10 but it uses an interface of Windows 7. I don't understand the need for this complication. If you can just install Windows 7, so why use an interface? Maybe this computer only works with Windows 10?

What are you trying to do, as you say that you are already using Windows 7?

I do not understand your question about "interface."

The GUI (graphical user Interface) for Windows 10 incorporates most of the features of the GUI for Windows 7 and also of the GUI Windows 8/8.1.

    See: http://www8.hp.com/ca/en/products/workstations/product-detail.html?oid=8354563#! = form tab

    Your computer was preinstalled with:

Windows 7 Professional 64 (available through 10 Pro 64 Windows downgrade rights)

and also comes with a license and support for Windows 10 Pro software.

My recommendation: given that Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7 in January 2020 - a short period of absence - install Windows 10 to get security-updates for your computer now and after January 2020.

Suggestion: if you have a "spare" disk drive, disconnect your current hard drive, connect the 'spare' and try to use this support for Windows 7 to install Windows.  That should answer your question about "can I install...". ».

I am using Kingston ValueRAM 16 GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR3 1333 MHz DIMM Desktop Server Memory.   (J'ai également essayer écarter un problème de mémoire utilisé FUREUR de Kingston HyperX 8 GB Kit (2x4Go) 1333 MHz DDR3 CL9 DIMM - black (HX313C9FBK2/8)) as well as herself, to see if that makes a difference.)

I don't know how to identify my system board other than the one she reads only numbers as "FMB-1102" and "PBLNV0GCY4N0TF" and "such as #618264-001 REV 0 G'.  He has "hp (copyright symbol) 2012 ' and"E93839"and"FXN1"written on it as well.  (After some searching I guess it's card mother 618264-001.  Which differ a card system like 619559-001 - a model later?)

My graphics card is a XFX R7 240 780 MHz 4 GB DDR3 HDMI DVI VGA graphics card.  (I also try out a video card problem used an EVGA Nvidia GeForce GT 620 1 GB DDR3 SDRAM PCI Express 2.0 x 16 video card to see if it would make a difference.)

Regarding the power supply, the power supply standard HP Z620 computer PC 800W Power Supply S10-800P1A 623194-002 717019-001.  (I have more than one and who have tried also.)

With respect to the hard drive, I have formatted and reused a WD Blue 500 GB Desktop hard drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb / s, 16 MB Cache 3.5 inches - WD5000AAKX.

    My problem:

1 regardless of what video card I use, if I use the FURY of Kingston HyperX 8 GB Kit (2x4gb) 1333 MHz DDR3 CL9 DIMM - black (HX313C9FBK2/8) memory and starts, I get a blue light, no beeps, no code of message I can say.  However, no tension of the video card (fans not spin) and no power is supplied to the drive hard (do not load and run).  I get a blank screen and can see nothing.  Back fans begin to turn in very strong and turbo mode.

2 regardless of what video card I use, if I use the Kingston ValueRAM 16 GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR3 1333 MHz DIMM Desktop Memory Server, I get a red light and eight beeps which means a kind of ROM BIOS/CMOS-problem problem problem.  To this end, I tried pressing the button Clear CMOS without result.  I removed the CMOS battery for a sufficient period of time and again.  Nothing changes this situation.  It only happens when I put this special memory in the computer.  If I stick a USB Thumb Drive with file BIOS (BIN) in it which is 3. XX or higher, it will boot to the BIOS on a limited basis.  I also had to understand that I couldn't do anything with a USB keyboard, I could only select options using a PS/2 keyboard - maybe it crashes on some USB devices at this point?

    3. I understand that if I let the rider of recovery from crisis on the 2nd and 3rd pins rather than pins 1 and 2, that it will load from a backup and I can actually do things.   On this basis, I was able to install Windows 10 education 64-bit and a host of programs and otherwise, use the computer normally.  But I can't start unless I have keep that crisis rider of recovery set to pins 2 and 3 and so he can start in the operating system normally by pressing F1.

    4. I while on Windows, updated the BIOS to the latest version, HP Z420/Z620 Workstations system BIOS 3.90 Rev.A (August 8, 2016) using sp77058.exe (19 MB).  I've also updated other drivers as I could with the HP SoftPaq Download Manager (SDM).  None of this changes the problem at initial boot upward.  At the start he complains front chassis fan does not turn, but this is not a problem I have printing allows to stop a boot to the top, it would give just a warning and still boot normally.

Well my computer works and does that as long as I keep this crisis recovery jumper on.  But I feel that I should be able to solve the problem and he can begin without interference and without resorting to a measure as drastic.  Suggestions anyone?

Thanks in advance for your time.

    MR. J.

    Juggerknight,

Keep the rider of recovery of block starting on pins 2 and 3 of E15.  It's 'off' because the 3 pin is not connected.  Put the jumper to pins 2 to 3 "parks" the rider.  Put the jumper on pins 1-2 active boot block recovery mode, and the system does not start with the jumper in this position 'on '.  (You have already discovered this)

In addition, do not mix unbuffered and registered in the same system memory.  Use either one or the other.
