  Fn + F6 or Fn + F7 keys for brightness control do not work. I see no change in brightness. There is no information or indication of the setting shown on the display.

  I just tried this and IT WORKED! I don't know how much luck you'll have, but try the Fn key and pressing the up and down arrows while your computer starts. It worked for me.
