Is it normal that Firefox consumes hard disk space open?

Last week, I noticed the following 'strange' behavior of Firefox on my iMac (under Snow Leopard 10.6.8): while I have the browser open (usually on Facebook) my hard drive space appears to reduce (for example, 265,14 GB 265,01 GB). When I close Firefox and restart my computer, the amount of hard disk space increases again. He don't know if that happened in the past or if it's something normal. I have not installed extensions or themes, my plugins are all updated and I do not have a lot of navigation (the FB open Startpage and cat enough). Firefox doesn't seem to have performance problems, but I just want to know if there is a problem and if I could solve it somehow.

Firefox uses more a GB of space on my hard drive regularly (sometimes 2GB). This seems excessive - especially since I put the cache size to 500 MB.

  • Why Lightroom uses hard disk space if my catalog is in dropbox?

I am new to Lightroom and love it so far. In addition to some external hard drives backup, I keep all my photos on Dropbox and am currently trying to build my library in Lightroom by importing my photos. Because I'll be editing my photos from multiple computers, I decided to move my Lightroom Catalog to Dropbox as well. This way I can continue to ensure coherence between several machines in my library.

My question, however, is that whenever I have import photos, I seem to be consumes hard disk space on my computer. I'm confused because my photos and catalog are in Dropbox, so this is actually too much space on my hard drive? I just imported approximately 1.63 GB of photos and afterword noticed that 1.46 GB has been written to my hard drive. I know that I am using the correct catalog (also the catalog only I have for Lightroom) because use space has increased after my import on my dropbox catalog file.

I don't know there's a logical reason - as I said, I'm new to Lightroom so always understand the ins and outs. But if someone could help me out here I would appreciate it a lot!

By default copy of Dropbox (and synchronizes forever) all in your remote Dropbox folder on each device that you have connected to your Dropbox account.

1 GB of files in your remote Dropbox folder will also chew up to 1 GB of space on each hard disk attached to the Dropbox account.

The power of the box lies in its timing in order to always have the latest file available on any device connected to your Dropbox account. The compromise is that 5 appliances also each stores its own copy of the same file. Any changes made to any file on any device is synchronized by Dropbox.

You can save space locally by allowing a selective sync in Dropbox and saying Dropbox folders to synchronize and copy it to the local disk and which ignores.

  • Hard disk space is down on its own without adding files or programs.

original title: reduction of disk space

My hard disk space is down without my add files or programs. I deleted the files, and after a while, I get the message that I'm out of space disk yet. I ran the windows disk cleaner, but the question is not what I need more disk space - is my drive space decreases continuously. For example, yesterday I got 4.89 GB free, today, I 4.80 - without adding anything to my computer. Any suggestion for what can happen and how to fix this?

Another minor issue I have is that sometimes windows does not start correctly and I can't open any programs after implementation - in this case, I just restart and it works usually then. Don't know which is related to the question of good memory, but maybe it is?

I am running Windows Vista Business SP2 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X 61.

  • A few questions about the defrag and hard space as I get a notification saying my hard disk space became full of drive

I have problems with my hard drive. I got a notification saying that my hard disk space became full. So I cleaned a lot of programs and files of the irrational. I've freed almost half of it. Then I had another notification a few days later and realized that I had less than 1 GB of free space on my hard drive 600 g. I cleaned more and went to defragment my disk. It is set on a calendar, but I don't think that he has never been defragmented. He ran for about 2.5 days until the cord is unplugged and the battery is dead at 91% consolidated. Do I have to start again and wait again 2.5 days before I little hard drive space open? Or progress in the early days of 2.5 will remain défragmentée? In addition, defrag and do a disk cleanup will stop my hard drive to fill almost instantly after deleting and uninstalling programs? I'm running out of things to remove and I am a full-time student full and really need a computer in operation, please help!

Defragmentation is complete, will continue from the left point last time. Therefore, if you raise, he will continue that 91 percent (of course, it will start from 0%, but the scan will go up that 91% and continue with the rest of the space on the hard disk, that 91% of surface of the hard drive has been defragmented already).

Yes, you can delete all the files inside the Temp folder. TEMP folder is a temporary storage place used by some programs to temporarily store the files/folders. Some programs remove the files/folders after working, but some retain them, causing space problems.

You can use disk cleanup, on occasion, to delete unnecessary files from the hard drive.

  • ESXi 4.0 initial installation 208167 used 80G of hard disk space

    Hello

I'll put up an old HP Proliant DL360 G5 server with two hard drives, managed by the HP Smart Array P400i controller 146SAS.  With RAID 1 + 0, the LogicalDisk is about 136G.  After you have installed the server ESXi 4.0, vSphere client reported that 51G is available for virtual machines.   See attached snapshot.  Back in 2009, on a new DL360 G6 server, I used the same software to ESXi 4.0 and installing used only 2 GB of space.  Which could use the 80G of hard disk space?

I noticed a difference in how vSphere client reported the DTX200:

The DL360 G5, the customer reported the storage as "local disk VMWare..." »

The DL360 G6, the customer reported the storage as "Home HP series SCSI Disk... »

Any idea what happened to the 80G?  Thank you.

    -Jim

If I understand you correctly, there is nothing on the data store yet (i.e. no VMs)? In this case, you can try to remove the data store and recreate to see if it reports the correct size after that.

  • Y430: Not sure that turn off hard disks is no...

I have a Vista-based Y430. I am now on feeding management of Lenovo on Vista (thanks to this forum) but I'm not 100% sure what the selection of "turn hard drives off" does, well, obviously it turns off hard disks but which live the user when this happens? I noticed that when my computer is put to sleep (even if plugged in) for a longer period, it stopped but restarts when I open it up. It is since turning off hard drives or is it something else? It seems to happen only after having been asleep for over an hour. It drives me crazy because it closes everything I had opened. I'm the type of user who likes to open documents, browsers, and even games for long periods. I scanned for viruses and spyware, but I don't think that's the problem. So, I think it's the judgment of hard drives, but since I'm not sure that I thought I'd ask.

Moderator Note: Type added to the line object for clarity.

It is the complexity of the problems in P - and C-States of the processor, Vista driver model and drivers themselves. It cannot be cured by what it is. The only way for you is using Hibernate mode instead of view 'sleep' (I do).

Regarding the stop discs on a charge down zero - it is useful energy saving because order HDD consumption less power, but spinning upwards and dwn constantly does no good on the HARD drive itself, so this prefferably not not to use this function.

  • Does hibernation consumes more disk space on every hibernation?

I know that hibernation takes disk space, but need more on every hibernation?

    Hi Joseph,.

Thanks for joining us on the Microsoft Community forums.

Hibernation and system restore are features that help users to restore their system or avoid the loss of data, in a number of situations, such as low battery (hibernation), misapplication or other corruption machine installation (System Restore). Combined, these devices consume a large percentage of the footprint. Due to the amount of space these use, they are easy to identify and to make decisions regarding.

Hibernate is mainly used on laptop computers and saves your work on the hard drive, and puts the computer in a low power state.  Hibernate is used on laptop computers when the battery runs out under a certain threshold, or to turn off the computer without using Shut Down to save the batteries as much as possible.  On Windows Vista, hibernation is automatically used with sleep on desktop computers to keep a backup of open programs and work. This feature is called hybrid sleep and is used to save the State in case of power failure hard disk when the computer sleeps.  Hibernate all content in RAM (living) writes a file named Hiberfil.syshard disk.  Therefore, the size of the reserved Hiberfil.sys is equal to the amount of RAM in the machine.  In Windows Vista, the amount of RAM under construction in computers has increased significantly, as well as the footprint of disk hibernation is more sensitive than before. This space should be reserved in advance in order to ensure that, in a critical situation of low battery, the system can easily write contents of memory to disk.  Any user of mobile PC who has known his incoming computer automatically hibernation when the battery is very low allows to enjoy the peace of mind provided by the growth of the footprint.
