Is it possible to call a .exe (non-LabVIEW, such as Notepad) in a child windown on the front panel?

I would like to launch a stand-alone .exe inside the front of my VI.  It is a piece of software by the provider of a sensor that I try to incorporate in my VI.  I was able to find how to call the .exe using the .NET constructor and invoke nodes.  However, the application opens in its own window.  Is there a way to run from a child window within the façade (ideally, within a tab on the front panel control)?

I'm in LabVIEW 8.6.

Thank you.

I don't think that it actually works. My understanding is limited about this feature, but since I read it only works with the pop-up windows and windows that are already children. The application's main window is not a child window.

I've done it before.  I have attached a simple example using Notepad.  Make sure that the notebook is already open no open files.  Since the example is not the position of the child window, the position relative to the window will be the same, because it is off the desk.  So, make sure the upper left corner of the Notepad is close to the origin of the desktop computer.

  • Is it possible to use a box Structure to hide digital indicators on the front panel, when they are not in use?

I'm rather new to LabVIEW, only used for about 1.5 weeks from this post, it means that I may be missing something pretty obvious due to ignorance, but is it possible to make my front to change as my changes of breakage due to the selection of the user to a certain case via the front panel?

The goal of the program is to make a simple layout for a user who uses the digital multimeter that the proposed code is designed for and I don't want tons of digital controllers and such clutter the screen that do not work with the function of the user uses to measure with.

    Thanks in advance.

    Yes.

Two ways: 1. use a tab control.

    2. use of property nodes (Visible property).

The tab control is a bit easier on the block diagram, but if some controls should appear in many cases it is difficult to do.  Property nodes take more space on the diagram but allows you the versatility to do almost everything you want.

Read the help files and look at a few examples.

  • How can I put the execution control to appellant VI when I close the front panel of the VI, called Sub?

I'm developing an application in which I call several Sub screws that contain a number of structures of the event. I have a problem that when I call such a sub VI control goes to this Sub VI and never returns to the main VI. I would like to return control to the hand once I close the fron of the VI called Sub panel. Does anyone have any solution for this?

  • is it possible to use the front panel without installing Labview?

    Hallo,

    I have two quick questions:

    1. is it possible to use the façade of a labview software without the need to install Labview itself? I mean something similar to the "power point viewer" that can display Power Point files without installing microsoft office.

    2. in a graphic intensity, how can you change the color?

    Thank you.

    Hello

What you need to do is

    (1) turn off the interpolation color option

    2) click Add marker, which will add the marker where you want to add

    (3) then right click on the digital value for the marker, you created and you will see the tag, saying: "Color of the mark". Select the color you want.

In one example, I created values 77 and 23 markers and their red and gray Cap. Hope this helps

  • How to make non-visible control on the Front Panel appear at Design time?

I have a few controls on the front whose visibility is changed (on or off) at run time. The problem is that if I stop the Run time, the visibility of the control remains in the running in design mode state. So I am not able to see or find the control to make changes in design mode.

How can I make all the visible front-panel controls, or find and make it visible to a control on the front whose visibility has False?

    Thank you.

It is documented in the help of LabVIEW.

    Hidden front panel display

Perform the following steps to display a hidden front control or indicator. You can also hide the indicators and controls on the front panel.

    1. Find the terminal block schema for the object. "If you have multiple devices with the same type of data, right click on the terminals and select visible elements" Label in the context menu. Find the object with the label that corresponds to the object hidden façade.

    2. Right-click in the Terminal, and then select Show Control context menu if the object is a control or indicator to show if the object is an indicator.

You can also use the Visible property to display the controls and indicators by program.

You can also view all hidden front panel controls and indicators.

Path: Fundamentals-> build the façade-> how-to--> configure the objects-> display on front panel of the façade hidden object.

  • By default, Labview 8.6 places conventional controls on the front panel; Is it possible to change the default settings to modern or Express possible?...

The default value is of modern controls and I always change to classic.

I am classic and the classic controls are much easier to adapt to what I want.

options GOTO and look along all tabs to find the place where the new vi is adjustable and modern controls by default

But keep in mind only new i's, old vi must be changed in the properties of this vi.

  • Call Subvi exe

    Hello

I call an exe with exec system block. I build this exe with Labview application builder. I need to open the front of some included subvi and I need to close them when they finish. The installation of the node subvi is configuered in this way: see the front when it is called. Close then initially closed. The first time I don't understand these subvi tab source file for the request of the manufacturer, so the application opens a pop up error. Can I include the source file tab: the program now works, but the screws are all open when the application starts. I don't like it. How could I answer exactly the behavior of VI in the exe file?

    Thank you

Use nodes of property within the Subvi itself to open and close the front panel.

  • VI front panel does not close when it is done executing, when this vi was called by reference.

I created a simple vi set to indicate the problem I'm having. I run dynamically under vi to leave a main application. Simply the main application is my test exec and the Subvi I call dynamically is different tests. In the example I have write here the criterion vi is called Test electric 1(vi). I configured this electric Test 1 vi to see the front when it is called and close later while initially closed.  Problem is that it doesn't close before.

Other things to keep in mind

    • I want to be able to run the vi test and do not wait until it is done.

    I'm using LabVIEW 2012 SP1.

Basically the fence after that call questions only if the VI is called as a Subvi (as if you open you a VI and run it, it does not close when it's done).  Are two ways to work around this or have your app high lvl close the VI when it's done, it's explained here:

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/987B2026B41BD39786256CF800032E8C

or having your VI close when it's done.  A reference of the VI and the front panel: Close call node.

    I hope this helps.

  • Call dll ActiveX in Labview

    Hello

I'm a new starter in c# .net.  I have a control dll ActiveX (control of vision of NOR -> CWIMAQ). I need to call dll functions in Labview. I searched for articles on this subject. Everyone talks about single thread and register the dll.  I have no idea about these things. Can any body give me a helping hand. How does it work?

    Thanks for any info

    Best regards.

To use an ActiveX control in LabVIEW, you place an ActiveX container on the front panel and locate the control to put it in. Then use the nodes property and/or call nodes of the ActiveX palette to set properties and call methods.

To register a DLL open a command prompt, navigate to the folder where your ActiveX control is normally the Windows system32 folder and type

    regsvr32 .

In LabVIEW use help > type in the search and find examples... tab ActiveX.

  • front panel called a Subvi, which calls another Subvi

    Hello

I'm having a problem call a Subvi main façade, where the Subvi is called other two Subvi. My two last Subvi the hierarchy have references in order to see the results on the front panel of the Subvi. While that of the Subvi References work and I see the exit, when I try to reference the Subvi references I can't see the output on the main façade.

I don't know how to reference objects but I missed something? Thank you

  • procedure to call 'iexplore.exe' of the database

I currently have a routine that calls "iexplore.exe" form - mainly to display PDF documents and images - using jj. APP_begin (en) (in SHAPES).

Asked me to do this generally available capacity by putting a procedure on the database.

I have searched but did not find any similar packaging.

    Is it still possible?

It's even easier. With Apex, you are already in your browser. No need to open the browser of forms.
Apex, it is just a link HTML in the file.

  • the call firefox.exe - ProfileManager does NOT open the Profile Manager does NOT create a new profile, KILLS the old session tabs, but all pinned!

    FF 7.0.1 on Win7 pro 64

A behavior more bug / odd:
    calling "firefox.exe - ProfileManager".
-do NOT open the Profile Manager,
-does NOT create a new profile,
-seems to do NOTHING (no change around records profile etc.).
    but...
    -KILLS tabs former session.
-KILLS old session and leaves nothing to restore,
    -KILL all my pinned tabs!

OK, I should downgrade to FF4.0.1, or same 3.6.x?
These releases are much more reliable than 6 + 7 running!

    Try using this:
