Is it possible to open display 'signet' in a new window or a new tab instead of a sidebar?

"When you click on the ' view your bookmarks" button on the menu bar, it opens a sidebar. I would try a new window or a new tab instead of the sidebar. I have the Tab Mix Plus add-on installed but I can't find this option.
Thank you.

This is the address of the Favorites sidebar, you have one also enter as a normal url address bar:

chrome://browser/content/bookmarks/bookmarksPanel.xul

When I right-click a link and select 'open in a new tab' and 'opens in a new window', nothing happens. In addition, nothing happens when I type a query in the search bar and press ENTER. I tried to restart firefox in safe mode and disabling all add-ons, but the problems continue.

The setting in "tools > Options > tabs: open new windows in a new tab instead" is for links that specify a target window (for example, target = _blank) to open the link.
This option allows to divert these links into a new tab instead of a new window.
Links that do not specify a target always open in the current tab, unless you redefine that with a middle-click or Ctrl (Mac: Cmd) left click (new tab) or a left click UPDATE (new window) or via the context menu.

You can check if you have the XML files including Google's default search engine in the browser\searchplugins file in the Firefox program folder.

If this isn't the case, then you need to reinstall Firefox.

Try to delete the file search.json and possible search - metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the profile folder of Firefox to reset the default search engines.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

Firefox will rebuild the file search.json from the default search engines in the folder "browser\searchplugins" in the Firefox program folder and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.

  • How to prevent the FF31 opening new window? I want to open all links in a new tab at the top of page.

I think the following quote, below, for help on the page is my problem.

I have a site that I use when I click on a link in the Web site it opens a new window with the tab down. In addition, when this happens, I lose the orange rectangle FireFox, bookmarks and navigation options. How can I define FF31 so that the link opens in a new tab, and I keep all my options? I use Classic theme restaurateur 1.2.3. I also note that, in the new window, I lose the ability to use some of the addons.

I have two laptops and both are running FF31 and W7. One of them works perfectly and the other is having this problem. As far as I can tell they are both defined by the same. The only difference is that when I upgraded to FF31 they both had difference older versions of FireFox. I also read in the help forum that maybe I need to go back to FireFox 28 to accomplish what I am trying to accomplish.

I noticed that when I'm going under: config that the version of FF that does not work unless options compared to the version that works. An example would be that the working version has 'browser.tabs.onTop' where, on the other computer laptop is missing.

    > > > open new windows in a new tab instead: this option controls whether links from other applications or from web pages which request to open them in a new window opens in a new window or a new tab in the most recent window.
Note: If you have chosen to open pages in new tabs, Firefox will ignore this option and opens a new window from a link if the page author specified that the new window must have a specific size, because some pages cannot be displayed correctly to a specific size. < < <

You can override how the links are opened through the browser.link.open_newwindow.override preference.

Use it for links opened via JavaScript.

  • How to configure firefox to open outlook e-mail links in a new tab instead of having this "crush" a tab currently open?

How to configure firefox to open outlook e-mail links in a new tab instead of having this "crush" a tab currently open? For example, that I have a tab open and consult the information about this. An email comes in via outlook and I want to read a confined link. When I click on the link, it will open in the tab I have currently open. I would like to open it in a new tab.

You mean Outlook, the standalone version and not the new iteration of Live (live.com) mail to Outlook.

I think that the default is to open in a new tab in the last active window, but you can check it out here and replace the default value:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste link.o and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external and change it to 3 and OK change

    The options are:

-1 = apply the setting in Options > general > tabs of external links (default)
3 = open external links in a new tab in the last active window
2 = open external links in a new window
1 = open external links in the last active tab replaces the current page

  • How to open the Firefox options in a window as it is used, instead of in a new tab?

Firefox used to have options in a separate window, but now when I try to open it, it opens in a new tab instead, which is quite annoying, because it removes the emphasis on my active tab. How can I go about changing this back to the old way of doing with the window much easier?

There is a way to return to the Inbox of dialogueOptions old style pop up. Here's how:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste pref and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.preferences.inContent to true to false

(Note: I don't know if the old dialog box will be in Firefox forever, or is a transitional device.) As you have probably noticed, the long-term trend is to remove things that appear.)

I hope that the opportunity to return to your last used tab is added in a future update. In fact, Firefox should go back to your last active tab when you close the tab Preferences, but spend your preferences and the last used tab is less convenient when they are in the same window.
