Is it possible to recover my Menu bookmarks in Safari/Firefox after I deleted it by mistake?

If this isn't the case, I'll have to re-transfer all over my old computer to get it back.

Start the transfer.

  • How to view the bar menu & bookmarks toolbar in Firefox 4 full-screen mode?

Firefox 3.6, I was using the AutoHide extension to activate the menu bar and the bookmarks toolbar mode full screen. But hide automatically is not compatible with Firefox 4, and even its homepage seems to have disappeared. (This is an old copy on the Wayback Machine.)

In full Firefox 4 screen, when I move the mouse to the top of the screen, only the navigation toolbar and the list are displayed. I want to see the menu bar and the bookmarks toolbar as well. I also want to be able to use the Alt key to open the menu (for example Alt - V to open the view menu.)

Is there a compatible with Firefox 4 extension that can do this?

I also have this issue the superuser, if you want to rep it. Otherwise, I'll cross-post any response I get.

  • Is it possible possible to recover my data from my drive hard after receipt of this error message is the reference to hal.dll

This error message is on a Windows XP Home Edition.

«Windows has not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Windows root\system32\hal.dll»

This occurred after the use of the Norton Symantec solution to get rid of malware Tidserv activity.  After trying to restart my computer after the removal of the malware, assuming she was kidnapped, I got this error message.  I had backed up my important files on an external hard drive some time ago, but I still want to recover from this if possible.  It is an old Dell Dimension 3000 series and I don't have the CD that came with that installation.

    Thank you

You could use another method to start your computer (like a Knoppix/Ubuntu or Hiren boot CD) and copy them to your personal data to an external device, you can move/slave your HARD drive to another system and see if you can copy the data off that way.

This could work, but for me this looks like a lot of trouble and I only take it only after having exhausted all other methods of fixing what you have.

Assuming you want to fix what you have (or at least make an effort to do so)...

Despite what the message said, interpret it as meaning that XP just cannot find the file or XP is told to find the file in the right place.  This means not the file is missing or damaged - XP just cannot find it.

There are two things to do that don't require to have an installation CD:

run a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console
you rebuild the file c:\boot.ini from the XP Recovery Console

Start with the chkdsk command, and here's how:

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (This includes the plug pulling, buttons power and removing the battery).

These can cause corruption in the file system that must be fixed before you do anything else.

If none of these events occurred (or even if they have not taken place), you must verify the integrity of your file system before anything else (especially "try" things).

There is zero logic to begin to try to begin to try to modify or copy files to a hard drive that has a corrupted file system, so this must first be fixed using the XP chkdsk program and run chkdsk on your hard drives may solve your problem completely.

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Import bookmarks from Safari to Firefox 36.0.4 5.1.10

I can't import bookmarks from Safari Firefox 36.0.4 5.1.10. I do not see "Library" or "Bookmark manager" or something (I think I saw a function import in an earlier version of Firefox) which is often considered online. I have a white iMac under Snow Leopard (10.6.8)

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

When you install firefox for the first time, you should automatically see an import dialog box. If you have already installed firefox, follow these instructions:

    1. go in the bookmarks menu, then choose "Show all bookmarks" (gives you the library)
    2. in the row of icons at the top, click on the button that has a star with a clock inside icon (fifth from the left)
    3. Select 'import data from another browser.
    4. choose "safari".
    5. choose what information you want to import (you can also import your preferences and history)

Is it possible to recover my favorites to use Firefox without the old computer?

I don't remember my old user name or password, but my email address is the same.

If you have not used the synchronization and you do not have the computer (or less hard drive) has more better would have been to save bookmarks manually before swapping try it with a new iMac.

If you copy to your profile folder, then it would appear that the only way to recover your bookmarks to go on the old computer and retrieve your bookmarks. If you would use Sync, your bookmarks would have been stored on the servers of Mozilla Sync

  • I want that my default Menu bookmark to Favorites Office

If I want to access my menu bookmark on my Android device, I have to do the following:
1 - type on the address bar
2 - tap on the bookmark tap where it shows the tabs ' Top Sites/Bookmakrs/history '.
3 - tap on Favorites Office
4 - tap on the bookmarks menu.

There's 4 things that I have to hit until I'm able to go pick the site that I want to visit. What I want is for my "desktop Menu bookmarks/favorites / ' folder is opened as soon as I tap on the address bar, pourriez please let me know how to do this? Thank you!

It is not possible. You should be able to find your Office bookmarks quickly by typing a few letters of the bookmark name or site. Like Firefox has more historical navigation to work with Firefox should be able to find the sites you visit most often more quickly.

  • My Safari passwords disappeared. Is it possible to recover?

In the Safari preferences - show passwords - only four of my many passwords to websites. They were all here this morning. Does anyone know how this could have happened and if it is possible to recover?

    Thank you.

In your Safari menu bar, click Safari > Preferences , and then select the password tab.

Make sure: AutoFill user names and passwords is enabled.

I havef that was already selected, make sure that your OS X software is up to date.

Click on your Apple  top left of your screen.

In the drop-down menu, click on about this Mac

Make sure the " view " tab is selected, and then click software update.

Your Mac may restart several times during the update process. That's ok.

Then see if Safari auto IDs for you.

If there is no update available, you can have an extension Safari or third party plugin installed which is causing a conflict. It is easy to solve the problems.

In the Safari menu, click Safari > Preferences , and select the tab ' Extensions '. If there are installed extensions, one at a time uninstall and exit then restart Safari to test.

If it is not a question of extensions, try troubleshooting third-party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the tab Security Deselect: plug-ins Allow. Quit and restart Safari to test.

If it makes a difference, the instructions of troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Had to crash my computer. Lost my recovery key. My iphone have paired with the previous installation. is it possible to recover the data?

In order to upgrade my Windows xp computer to Windows 7, I lost access to firefox without thinking to generate a recovery key. Is it possible to recover my data?

If the only thing you have coupled to the account is an iPhone response is that unfortunately not. Customer iPhone (Firefox Home) is just a 'consumer' of data Sync and can't do much.

My best advice is to keep sync iPhone to access bookmarks and transfer it manually to your new profile.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

  • Mr President, I put in my window 7 Professional which I totally forgot the admin password, I'm not able to use my computer, is it possible to recover the admin password?

    Mr President.

I got the admin password in my window 7 Professional which I totally forgot, I'm not able to use my computer, is it possible to recover the admin password?

There is no way to retrieve a forgotten password. However, you can do this:

    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
    2. Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
    6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    7. Configure Windows to a point until you have changed the password.
    8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key.
  • Where is the Menu bookmarks?

In Safari 10 I can only add bookmarks to the 'Favourites' section or to bookmark files, I created myself. I can't add to the bookmarks Menu more because apparently disappeared? Is this a bug? Now I can not add my favorites for the 'root' of the bookmark list more. My bookmarks section contains a list of folders of bookmarks and a few bookmarks in the upper slot that I did not put in such a folder. I used to select the Menu bookmark to add those and decided later if I want to move to a folder of bookmarks. But this Menu bookmarks option has now disappeared. It is not anywhere between my either custom files. So where is he past?

Open the Bookmarks Sidebar, then click on the URL, and then drag it to the bookmarks.

  • Is it possible to recover deleted photos from icloud?

Stupidly, I didn't know that the iCloud storage plan did not provide for storage.  When I backed up my phone, it is cleared of my photos from my account.  Is it possible to recover?  Any way to go back to a previous backup?  I don't even have a deleted folder recently on my photos page.

OK, something added here. You said that when you have backed up your device, it erased your pictures.

When you do an iCloud (or iTunes) backup, it backs up everything on your device. It does nothing for the data on the device. Thus, your photos were eliminated in a backup. Do you import your photos in a library on your computer? The process makes you wonder if you want to delete the photos?

We need a complete description, step by step, what you were doing, and what happened.

    See you soon,.

  • Is it possible to recover hundreds of mails that have disappeared from my Inbox after it has been quarantined today by Norton Internet Security?

I received an infected email this morning which resulted in Norton Internet Security quarantine inbox. All received emails are gone now from the Inbox (with the exception of two who apparently arrived just before the infected message).
    (1) is it possible to recover the E-mails lost without re-infection of the Inbox?
    (2) how can I avoid this happening again? Until today, the infected emails have simply removed by Norton Internet Security on arrival without all the previous messages being lost in the Inbox.
I would be very grateful for help.

you force Nortons of UN-setting in the file quarantine.
Then, you create an exception for Norton analyzes the folders that contain your Thunderbird profile, so it is not repeated.

Be aware that the infection is not as severe as the cure. Maybe you can find someone to Semantec to explain how an email in Thunderbird can infect anything unless you physically open an infected attachment that Norton should catch when it is written in the temp folder before opening.

I lost a lot of time talking to corporate cretins to Semantec and they charge just "this is another line of defense" when asked for more details. Why, because they can simply justify not e-mail Scanner in any other terms. Enjoy it servers little or not by the challenges of usability and convenience.

This "mail" was written on your drive hard until Semantec has managed to make a mess of things. It's a little late don't you think saying "you have an infection. Do they expect also for stuff in your browser to be written on the disc? You bet they do. Where is the preventive surveillance to data transmissions that prevents infection before it is written on your drive?
