Is it right to TrustedInstaller to have the property full on everything in WinSXS?
Recently had an anti-virus program quarantined files of false positives in the WinSXS folder. In order to restore them, I had to take possession of its default owner, TrustedInstaller WinSXS. Long story short: I took possession of WinSXS and all subfolders, I granted full access, restored the files quarantined, deleted what I myself had granted permissions and back to TrustedInstaller property. Everything seems to have worked, but now I wonder if I have unintentionally screwed up the properties of Sub-folders. I noticed that on my other computer, a laptop running Vista, some subfolders are the property of SYSTEM instead. I did not bother to check what their default owner was on this machine and now WinSXS, and everything it contains is owned by TrustedInstaller with all permissions. So my question is, is this well for the TrustedInstaller to have complete ownership over everything in WinSXS? or is the default owner of this same TrustedInstaller?
