Is my HD dead or not?

I have a Compaq SR1620nx.  The hard disk has been removed by the previous owner.  I reinstalled the system of the proper function of the integrated HD re - install.   Had trouble starting after that he has operated.  It worked ok too on the second time it has been used.  After that, it stopped loading the system op.   I reinstalled the system once second and third HD, but it still does not start successfully to Windows.

My question is if the HD does not how well the recovery partition, etc. work?  What is really happening with this HD

My next question is if a new HD is installed is there a way to get the original HD to load the operating system, etc., directly on the new HD instead of on himself?

Unfortunately, your PC was manufactured in 2005. Is it's 2006 or later, there is a disk check utility in the BIOS. Take a look in the BIOS (F10 during a startup) to see if the former owner has updated the BIOS to a version that contained the utility.

Since you are able to use F11 and reinstall the OS, which indicates that the previous owner wiped out only the C: partition.

The original hard drive to load only the operating system on the partition C: from the original disc of the recovery D: partition.

What I would say is that you access the HP Recovery Manager that invokes it to booting with F11 and by creating a set of HP recovery disks.

Here is a link to create a set of recovery disks or order a cd of restoration for your HP product.

Kind regards

  • navto links go dead when not the first article of collection

I feel very odd behavior with navto links in the articles of DPS solution.

I have an article with a big button with this link: navto://GRhodes_PofC_contents#1--juste the name of another article in the same collection, goes to the second page.

If I set up the collection so that the article with the link of navto load first, the button works.  If it is nowhere else in the collection (and I navigate through a link from another article), the button is dead.  It's clearly reading the action because the < = back link is not displayed at the top of the screen.  And no error rises ("content not found"), instead, it does nothing.  Looks like a bug, but I can't diagnose.  I have not tried yet completely rebuild the collection and items on the DPS, but it's my next step.

Anyone else having this problem with unreliable strange behavior with links to navto?

    Hey, Geoffrey;

Navto in DPS2015 links work much like the previous version, but there are a few differences.

Within a project, you will have a lot of articles, but the name of each item is unique. Navto://ArticleName will get you to the article, but the relative location where you come from and where you "nav would be-to" has an impact on your experience.

A navto of one article to another in the same collection has a context, so you can drag the previous or following in the collection items.

But if you navto an article that is outside the collection, then there's no context for all navigation drag (you can only go back). So a navto an article outside the current collection is a little like walking into a cup bag - you must leave the way you came in.

Some related commands navto work, and there is info in the HELP system: https://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-solution/help/hyperlinks.html#create_goto_links _to_custom_icons

The significant passage in the HELP article is in the first section, third indent:

    • If the destination article is located in the same collection that section that the user displays, typing the link opens this article as part of the collection. If the destination article is not in the same collection, it will open in a State that is not bound to a collection, with no article left or right of it. Users can use the navigation bar to return to the original article.

  • Satellite L40 is dead - will not start

    Hello

I hope someone can help me. My laptop just died!
It's a Toshiba Satellite L40 machine. It exploded suddenly and when I tried to put it back on in the morning nothing!

I tried without battery, with battery. I checked originally charge with the multimeter adapter and works very well. All I get is a clear green battery on the laptop itself when it is connected to the power supply with battery in. I have checked the motherboard no sign of discoloration or loose connections.

I thought it might be the battery that's dead. The laptop needs to use the battery in the circuit? I would like to know if anyone has had this problem until I pass out on a new battery.

I hope there, can someone help me please!

    Thank you

    Jamjul

Laptop didn't need dough as part of the electric circuit and you can use it with AC power only. If you cannot start your laptop with power running without battery, I fear that there is a serious hardware problem. Probably with electronic power supply.

This hardware malfunction is quite complicated and it should be repaired by authorized personnel only. Then contact the closest service as soon as possible and ask for help.

  • Dead or not?

My Ultra + 256G refused to boot up my laptop this morning. The system is it to try to detect the SSD (same CapsLock doesn't). When I replaced SSH with HDD - it's all beautiful, OS is booting. When I put SSDS in USB-SATA docking station - it is not recognized by the operating system, as if nothing is inserted to USB.

The disc is only 3 months old.

Anything I can do to diagnose or repair? Thank you.

If it is not found that there is really not anything that you can do. Contact sandisk support to check the status of the guarantee.

  • Transfer of files from the old HARD DRIVE to new computer without an old computer. (He's dead - can not use) I have the hard drive, but need help to transfer my old files and settings.

    ·        My old Win XP computer died - it is completely unusable. I bought a new PC with Win 7 Pro and 1 TB. I still have the old HARD DRIVE (250 GB) which I have attached on the new computer using an external enclosure supports SATA drives. The external hard drive is connected to the computer in USB 3.0. I checked that the new computer can see the external hard drive. (I also used for backups by changing the hard drive with a 2 TB drive 'mass storage' - that works.)

I searched the internet for possible solutions and found no help. If the transfer of files from Microsoft would change the disc to analyze, it would be simple. But if I select the OLD computer it scans the disk I'm on (new) - automatically.

Is there anyone who has had the same problem? He must be because computers die all the time and people buy new computers - who then, somehow, they get the former transferred files. I could do it manually, but that wouldn't change the settings. Last resort would be to buy an old computer XP (SATA), replace the drive. Transfer the files, and then sell this computer.

You may be able to recover your data files, but I hope that you will set up your new system to automatically backup a second internal hard drive or an external USB hard drive.

This suggestion may not work, but it's worth a try. Buy an external USB drive enclosure. They come in two sizes 2.5 "for the portable computer drives and 3.5" for desktop disks. You can purchase adapters for 3.5 "envelopes so that they can also be used with a portable player. Place the hard drive in the enclosure and connect to a USB port of another computer. Several hard disks are more able to start, but the contents of the disc can still be accessed, read and copied from the disk because you do not use the operating system on a failed disk.

Here is an example of the type of device, I suggest:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=external+hardrive+enclosure&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=14388537836&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=556960941559985931&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_32uorbwbuk_b

You need only to the speaker, that you see are not necessarily more expensive. Thereafter, you can put an old hard drive usable, an abandoned because you need a larger drive internal, in the enclosure and use it as additional external storage.

  • HD is dead, could not turn off

    Hello

My main PC at home yesterday lost its SSD drive.  I do not turn off the creative cloud on my previous installation of Windows before he died.

I reinstalled Windows and I have also reinstalled the creative cloud.   Will I have problems with the registration / using my creative cloud apps?

FYI: I also have creative Cloud installed on my laptop.

Without any problem. You can activate your product on 2 machines at the same time:

Example: You select PC1, PC2, if you try to activate a PC3, this action will disable the PC1 and PC2. If you yourself PC1, it is regarded as a second machine and if you yourself PC2, it will be considered as a second machine.

    Hope that's clear

  • 10 iPhone update iOS 6 - phone does not

    Hi all

I downloaded the update iOS yesterday (on the phone). The phone has been restarted several times and showing some strange screens (black on top and Red bottom split 30/70). I left the phone at night, connected to a charger this morning because it was showing only the apple (on white background) logo.

I tried to turn it on and now it is completely dead, does not (black screen).

No idea what I can do now. I intend to go to the Apple store later today I hope that they will be able to solve the problem.

The phone is out of warranty now (iPhone 6) should I worry about this, after all, this is the update just went horribly wrong?

you have a computer running iTunes if yes plug it into this and perhaps save and restore

  • need to export the settings on the desktop without sync android works on the new desktop, sync works great android-android, android not desktop

OK.sync worked so good between my laptop and my two android devices.

Laptop now dead, do not have recovery key...

Sync always seems to work ok between android, but I want all my favorites.

    Tried following previous suggestions:
Installed copyprofile and copied it to my sd card.

    Reset account passwords.
verified that I could connect on account.moz Portal OK (on two android devices) android devices
verified that I could also connect to portal via the ok/desktop pc

then said pc sync for the first time and copied the # s on my screen of android under settings/firefox sync account

"He said ok, and my desktop look like screen it is synchronized UNTIL I got a message at the bottom of the screen saying:
Key recovery DIFFICULT. Sync retries this action.

    Help, please?

If syncing still works on Android devices so there is no need to generate a new key for synchronization and you shouldn't have a problem the pair from the desktop with one of Android devices via the pairing code 12 characters. Use the pairing code 12 characters is not expected to enter a key for synchronization, as these data will be recovered from the Android where you enter this code on the desktop. That's why the two devices must be online at the same time. Note that the synchronization code is a code of 26 characters and therefore is much longer than the code pairing 12 characters.

  • Satellite A110 battery does not & will not work if the battery is connected

    Hello

I will try to regain control of the situation quite clearly.

    Product: Toshiba Satellite A110-149

Works fine on AC adapter / CC (Eve just a summary of the problem but because of Gentoo Linux, this used to work under Windows XP)

Original battery was dead. Not only there is no charge, but with this battery and the AC adapter absolutely nothing, not a single LED. No need to mention that I couldn't turn on the computer.

Bought a new battery at Eforcity.com
    -Replace: PA3465U-1BRS | 10.8V | 6600mAh (71Wh)

With this new battery and the AC adapter plugged in, I have the green power led and lighted orange recharge. But even after 8 hours and the computer off of the battery did not charge.
If I try to turn on the computer with this new battery in and the AC adapter is plugged in it starts to run, but after awhile it stops automatically, no question weather I start or enter the BIOS.

BIOS is Phoenix v1.50 and reset the default settings.
Also, downloaded the last OS independent 1.70 - WIN (bios - 20090121162419.zip), but is there a way to update without Windows?

I tried to just unplugged and press the power button several times (last test, I continued pressing more than 2 minutes for what counts)

I have clean the contacts with alcohol.

Would it be because of a fuse or capacitor I could replace myself or something?

    Any help would be grateful.

    Kind regards
    Charly

    Hello

I'm not quite sure what happened to the laptop, but first of all you need to know that laptop m should feed and must run properly if the AC adapter is plugged.
The isn t battery required to power the unit if the power adapter provides power for the laptop.

So if ONLY the battery would be affected, the unit must always turn sector.

This is why I think that its a serious hardware issue for example motherboard problem.

  • Dead MBP 2010. How to transfer data?

I bought my MBP original 15 "in the summer 2010. Recently, he suffered from the curse of a drink skillfully spilled. I have now a new 13 MBP (purchased less than a month ago). "

After reading several tutorials, I am confused as to what steps and tools I need.

The computer is dead. Not at all turns. I know that I need to pull on the hard drive. What do I need to do?

You need a screwdriver and a case of disk external usb.

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/shop/hard-drives/external-enclosures/

Remove the drive and put it in the external hard drive enclosure. Connect the enclosure using usb to the new computer. Access your files.

  • My Sandisk drive troubleshooting to see if he's dead

Hi all, thanks for making me sign up with you. I am not very computer so fingers crossed I get this right.

2 years almost to the day, I bought a computer "skeleton" and a friend of my has taken some parts of my old computer and put it in the new computer. The new computer came with a Sandisk 128 GB SSDs system. The black label it says "Solid State Drive" and said a line underneath and Red "SanDisk". The white label has more information:

    Capacity 128GB

    SATA 6 GB/s hard drive

    LBA 250,069,680

    SDSSDP-128
    G

    SN 131846400739

    WWN 5001B449BE3D66E3

He has a bunch of other things. Fortunately, I use Easeus Free to save things. What happened is the system of SanDisk suddenly stopped and Windows would not work. I do not exactly remember, but he said something like: 'disk read error. Cannot start disc"in a dos system - it was a few weeks ago.

I tried everything but still can't get high Windows and will. My neighbor come around and bought a few other drive installed for me and do not know why the Sandisk wouldn't work.

So what we see is the following.

When he started the computer with the new SSD with Windows installed, all right. He picked up the old SanDisk in Start - Control Panel - Device Manager, I can see it says Sandisk 128 GB there, all the numbers are good. The system BIOS also says its installed. When he went to the workstation, the drive is not there. When he went to the Administrative management of disk-storage-management tools, the disc did not appear.

He suggested updating the firmware from Sandisk or replaced by an original version and installed SanDisk SSD Dashboard, but the summary is as follows:

    He saw the SanDisk in:

    -Bios

    -Device Manager

    but not in

    -Administrative campaigns in computer management

    -Dashboard Sandisk SSD

I am so confused whether he is dead or not. It seems that it is there, but he's not here. He kidnapped and tried on a Linix Ubundu and it does not, said to run diskcheck/f or something (we can not remember exactly), but felt that it would work only it we knew only the drive letter, and we can not get the drive letter because it is not recognized in Windows administrative tools.

I'm confused. It would be good to see if we can resurrect this piece of hardware. I have an external SATA and lead configuration to do the test with a solution, or it can open the computer and mess around with the son.

Are there new ideas to see if this Sandisk can be reactivated?

This sounds like a bad SSD. Weird it is watch again in the BIOS, but if she does not appear in the administrative tools there is probably not much you can do with him. Contact sandisk support if it is 2 years old it should still be under warranty.

  • Sansa View not recharge, but the battery becomes hot, no blue ring

I just bought a Sansa View, my first MP3 player. It did not really work just yet, I've had a week now. The battery life is very short.

What I can't understand is this evening when I plugged it in to recharge, it will not respond with the blue ring and the battery/back of the appliance becomes hot.

The laptop USB or the wall socket taken USB now works. He's dead and not answering anything either (but not hot to the touch).

Jiggling the plug does not help. It is a problem of dealbreaker.

I will exchange it tomorrow unless someone has a bright idea!

something is certainly wrong internally, battery and wiring autour seems likely. Get it not traded, that's exactly what you need to do and someone must relay this sandisk problem, because if it is a fault of power, then thers probably more then a player with the potential to make this happen.

  • Star Wars Empire at war gold does not work on Windows Vista

I bought star wars empire at war gold and when pack I insert on the tray and close it, it didn't read on my hp pavilion a6120n pc. After some time, nothing happened. Why?

    The other question...?

As I said - if you can not read at all on a single computer and can be downloaded to another computer - the obvious suspect is usually the problem.

    Third question about all this...

Can you read other CD/DVD in the drive that cannot read this particular CD/DVD?
(It cannot be 100% dead - just not that good of a player OR go dead.)
