Is private browsing as a vpn

I'm trying to see if I can remove vpn apps from my phone.

Private browsing, this is nothing like a virtual private network. Private Browsing simply does not record the data that your browser generates (as history, cache, etc.) from a session of navigation on your device when you leave this session. VPN is very different

Private browsing mode is designed to keep not take of your browsing history. This allows users to browse the internet without their history to be saved on his computer. For this reason, you cannot restore a session that was made in private browsing mode, the session is permanently deleted from the closing of Firefox.

If you want to have the ability to restore previous sessions, please use Firefox in normal browse mode.

For more information on the incognito of Firefox, please read this Mozilla support article:

  • Private browsing mode does not work

I've been without a pc for a while, now have a new with Windows 10. Just downloaded latest Firefox. I put it to always open in private browsing mode. But it does not work. When I close the browser, and then re - opening, my start page is not display the mask or indicate private browsing. I can get it in the usual way, just right-click on the icon that gives you options to open the new window or a private.
I tried to turn on/off the navigation mode private the several times, still no luck.

Probably, you won't see the purple mask of private browsing mode when you are in permanent PB mode because all windows are automatically in PB mode.
You will see the mask when Firefox is started in normal mode and you open a new private window.

You can use an extension for private browsing mode support tab.

  • The mask purple of the private browsing mode, where is it?

    Hello!
I installed Firefox 42.0 on my PC running Windows 7 SP1 32 bit and it is stable. But the purple mask, the novelty of the private browsing mode, does not work in the following scenarios. I don't see the purple mask on top of windows.

1 right-click on the "Mozilla Firefox" shortcut, and then select Properties. Add ""-private "at the end of the area target;" \Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"- private.

2 tools > Options > privacy > history, click on the box "always use the private browsing mode.

    Do you have any advice?

    Best regards
    BluePencil

You will see the purple mask if Firefox is in normal mode and you open a new private window.
If you are in permanent private browsing mode, so there is no need to display the icon and it is deleted.

You can use an extension for private browsing mode support tab.

  • How can I get permanent Private Browsing, I want to save passwords?

I tried several times to turn off private browsing which requires a reboot. After the reboot, private browsing is always engaged. What I want, it is to be able to save passwords from time to time and can't restore that work in private browsing.

Your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time you start Firefox.
The user.js file will be present if you or a other software created this file and normally will not present.

You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: 'Open with'; do not double-click).
The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can remove the user.js file if you do not create this file yourself.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

Windows hides certain default file extensions.
Among them .html and .txt, so you can see only a file name without .ini and .js file extension.
You can see the type of actual file (file extension) in the properties of the file via the context menu in Windows Explorer.

  • Where are stored the information session for "private browsing"?

I have a frozen private browsing session that I don't want to lose.

It's a bit complicated, so... I have a prior (not private) regular session which is restored when you open a regular browser. I have closed the session and opened directly into a private window. About two dozen open tabs later, the camera froze and I'm about to lose all the work I had done.

I tried screenshot tabs so I could at least get an idea of what I had opened, but when I went to paste the Clipboard, he had nothing, and now the browser is minimized at all times (not answer).

Is there a file in the profile folder containing the URLS of open tabs? I don't have FF forcequit immediately.

I can't imagine that they would be in "sessionstore" since that holds the non-prive session (correct?) and it does not resemble these files have changed/summer changed since the opening of the private meeting. Wouldn't be a file of type "places" or "sessioncheckpoints"?

All tracks on this would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you can get work if it is not registered to anywhere where you were. I suggest you do all the work in the sessions of navigation non-private, do not have this problem. If it's frozen, you can expect a response, or say goodbye to the work.

  • There is no button disable or remove on addon disable Private Browsing more and I need to remove it.

I tried to delete my browsing history, but when I do, I get a pop up saying that this feature is disabled. I can only assume it's because of the add-on disable Private Browsing Plus1.9.1 - signed I. For some strange reason, it's the Add on ONLY without Options, disable and remove buttons. How can I regain the ability to delete my browsing history?

Open the Firefox Safe Mode and see if you can disable this extension from here.

  • Private browsing issues: new window is a "pop-up" & right click on Favorites Displays grayed out options

When I'm in the mode of private browsing in Firefox 38.0.1 for Windows 8.1, I can't do the following.

    1. when I click on a link to open a new window, the new window is like a pop-up window (no menus, no scroll bar). I have a blocked pop-up windows, it is like, but is not technically a pop-up window but it is not blocked.

    2. when I choose a bookmark and then right-click on it to choose another bookmark in a new window or new tab (or any other options that appear), the text is gray while I can't choose it.

These "issues" are normal for Firefox 38.0.1?

My suggestions for the settings to be performed in all: config. That type in the address bar, press the return key, then change these settings. Which will affect the popup windows. Does this affect the private windows?

  • Ok. I am in permanent private browsing mode. Don't know how I got there, but how to get out? If I can just click on private I navigation ned it?

somehow I'm always private browsing mode. When I click on the file and go to "new private window", I get a new window but no small mask at the top on the right. " I understand that this means that I am always in private browsing mode.
How can I disable this function so I can open a private only when I need one?

    Hello Smokenguns,
Thanks for asking! It seems that you use some custom settings for history and an option enabled lock you in a permanent private browsing mode. Here's what to do:
Go to Menu > settings > privacy there, uncheck the box that says always "use Private Browsing Mode. See the screenshot if you can't find it.

    Have a great day!

  • Which is more secure, using private browsing or don't remember history?

I want to use the most secure method for navigation.

    Please share your ideas.

    Thank you!

    Su

Never remember history and the private browsing mode are the same and the two always select "use the private browsing mode.

    • Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "Use the custom settings for history": [X] "always use the private browsing mode.
  • I can't open tabs or private browsing windows

    Hello

I don't know why, but I could not open my private more browser windows. All the windows, I opened via files > new private window are not the ones with purple masks.

Could if it you please let me know what went wrong? I have bugs in my system?

Please let me know what you think.

    Thank you very much!

    Sincerely,
    Su

If you run Firefox in permanent private browsing mode (don't remember the story) then you will not get the purple mask because all open windows are automatically in PB mode.

    • Firefox > Preferences > privacy > Firefox will be: "Use the custom settings for history": "always use the private browsing mode.
  • How will I know when I'm in a private browsing session - Firefox 35.0.1

When I opened a window of Firefox v 35.0.1 incognito, he has no indicators that I'm actually in a browser window privacy. In my previous version of Firefox, if you use the command 'New private window', a new pop window opens in the body: "Private You are currently browsing mode", or something to that effect. He also displayed a purple mask at the top right of the window near the maximize/minimize/close icons.

Now, when I try to open a private 35 FF window, it opens a window which seems identical to the standard FireFox window, with nothing to indicate that I am browsing in private mode. What is going on?

I've attached a screenshot of the top of my browser window while supposedly in a private window.

If you start Firefox in private browsing mode, using always to use the private browsing mode that can be set in the Options > privacy-> Firefox will: use the custom settings for history - you'd be using the Permanent private browsing mode.

The the 'mask' ' or private message at the top of the Firefox window is not displayed, and menu items, and keyboard commands will open another private window. You cannot leave the 'private' mode without closing Firefox and unchecking the "always use...". "preferably, before you open Firefox again.
