Is there a compatibility mode for existing Windows programs running on Windows RT?

Is there a compatibility mode to run my existing on RT windows programs

There are two variants:

Windows 8 - this runs on processors traditional x 86 - x 64 for Intel and AMD, and the same apps that runs on Windows 7, Vista, and Windows XP.

Windows RT - built on the same basis as Windows 8, it works on a different processor called ARM and not running programs in Windows 7, Vista, or Windows XP. Also, comes with Microsoft Office 2013 while Windows 8 does not work. It only comes on the new devices, in contrast to Windows 8 you can buy a license for an existing computer.

A possible work around, you can connect to your remote programs on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows 8:

    Hello

I have multiple copies of Windows 7 Pro x 64.  Click with the right button on a program and select 'Properties' and then click on the Compatibility tab, most of them under "run this program in compatibility mode for" a ton of options going all the way back to windows 98.   Several have only options for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista.  I need "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" as an option on all computers.  I don't see where you install.  My research are presented only how to install a Windows XP virtual machine, I must separate environment, I need this option so that the program works on computers (it can change the routing table, and makes to the virtual machine is not useful).

What must be installed to the "Windows XP (Service Pack 3) option appear?

    Thank you

If the program in question can be run in compatibility for a specific version of the operating system, then the option will appear in the drop-down list.

Not all programs can be run in compatibility for all versions.

  • Cannot add properties of jad for the compatibility mode for the COD file metadata.

    Hi all.

I need to disable the application that are installed compatibility mode using the ALX file. I read in an another messages it is possible to add custom file JAD directly properties in the COD file. I tried to create test projects using Blackberry JDE, Blackberry Eclipse plugin generation tools and use Eclipse with ant. Then I tried to add a JAD file for projects and by adding the following properties:

    RIM-TouchCompatibilityMode: false
    RIM-TouchCompatibilityMode-UserChangeable: true

Also I tried specifying the properties of this:

    RIM-TouchCompatibilityMode: 0
    RIM-TouchCompatibilityMode-UserChangeable: 1

But it seems that it does not help to automatically avoid compatibility mode for applications that are built using JDE4.2.1 or earlier. I ran the test on Storm 9530 camera with 5.0.0.32 8 preinstalled JDE. I also wipe my phone several times to avoid the capabilities that the compatibility mode settings is saved.

In addition, before installing the application I also checked this jar file compatibility mode properties which was built contained in this manifesto.

Please, anobody can advise which go bad. Or it seems that there is no possibility to implement the solution that are built with the JDE at first then 4.7 and are installed using the ALX file.

I never could get this job.

Sorry, don't know what the deal is.

  • NB - 200 can not handle the compatibility mode for HDD Contoller...

    Hello everyone!
I would like to make it work on my nb 200 ubuntu 10.04 netbook edition netbook. The installation is done, grub works very well (I kept windows xp and have dualboot grub-controlled). Of course, I asked first in the ubuntu forum to solve my problems. I thought it was done, but in fact it wasn't. See the ubuntu forum for more information: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9346966&postcount=1
Switch mode Compatible HARD disk (in bios) controller works great for ubuntu, but Windows XP have problems. XP is launched (I see the Welcome screen), but then the computer restarts. I updated the Bios to version 1.9 (02/2010), but this does not solve my problem.
In the threat of ubuntu, a help very kin (darkod) says:
+ You can try, but if changing the controller type makes a difference, I'm not sure this will help. This seems not related to ubuntu. +
+ I'm surprised change compatible controller made XP no boot. If a hard drive is sata, you, instead, compatibility mode is required to even install XP because it does not include inside SATA drivers. +
+ I guess it depends how the manufacturer put the netbook. +

Thanks in advance for your help.

I tested the functionality of Windows XP Home edition on my Satellite with AHCI mode and if the WXP was preinstalled with the SATA mode enabled it will not work when the mode is replaced by the compatibility option. I get the blue screen every time if I want to start Windows XP Home edition.

I think that you do need to make the decision. If you want to use both operating systems, I think you should change the AHCI mode to compatibility and reinstall Linux and Windows XP Home edition.
Then it works well, but you will not have full disk under Windows XP Home edition as performance when you use the SATA mode.

  • Are obsolete root of trust certificates required to use XP mode / compatibility mode on my Windows 7 computer?

For example, I have two PKI certificates that are necessary and confidence of Windows XP, but they are absent from the trust list in Windows 7:

Why are these certificates on a Windows 7 computer?

It is the responsibility of the administrator to remove certificates that have exceeded their expiration date?

That would limit comparability to turn back? Would be the removal of expired certificates limit the functionality of the operating system compatibility modes?

    Hi Douglas,.

According to the shooting, description and screen of the problem it seems that you are connected to a domain environment. Yes, you are right that these certificates on a computer Windows 7 requires administrator permissions to remove. However, if you need additional support, you can try to republish your query on the TechNet community.

Hope that the information provided was useful. Feel free to post on the forum if you have any concerns more associated with Windows.

    Kind regards

  • Availability of Mods for the Windows registry

There are a lot of areas formally information on how to add or remove this key or Word etc.  I have old w would like to know is this... I guess you can not add anything to the reegistry, I think it has its limits. Is any place you can look for a list of things that can be added to the registry for example of terms key and words etc. I think that you can't just invent something and put in the registry and end up with something functional that. I want a list of things that are not noramally in the registry that could be added and how we would build the language to add. For example, if I generate a new program how can capacity about thatprogram in the registry. Just a matter of curiosity as much as anything, but I want to learn more about the registry

I am trying to disable the Compatibility Mode for a game program, but no matter what I try I can't make the changes stay.  I believe that I am the administrator, but not sure.  Is it possible to tell if I am logged in as admin?  I am running XP with the mode which allows different members of the family log on using their journal to the name (cute image next to the login name).  Again, I am sure that I am the admin.

  • Visioneer OneTouch 8700 USB Scanner Driver for Windows XP SP1 installed SP 2 compatibility mode - does not

My machine is upgraded from XP SP2 to Windows 7. Support was interrupted by the manufacturer scanner after the pilot XP SP1.   Update of Windows in my system is always sur-installe updates automatically.   The scanner driver has been downloaded from the MFRS. ' site and installed in my computer Windows 7 in "compatibility mode for XP SP2. The scanner icon in my system tray.   To make a physical connection to my system, I get error that it can not be connected or cannot be configured.   I have two USB ports of work attached to the Mo (Chinese-"Weibu") and two USB PCI card is compatible with XP and earlier versions (as shown on the box, no mention of Windows 7).   I tried all these ports, always the scanner does not connect to my system.   In addition, my device manager under USB controllers, shows the exclamation marks in yellow triangles against two elements of the same name: "VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller.   I uninstalled these 2 elements and restarted my system several times, without success.   At each reboot, the yellow marks disappear but soon reappear.  But the scanner worked perfectly fine in my old XP SP 2 system before moving on to Windows 7 and before installing the USB PCI card.

Is there a solution to this problem up the old USB devices and running in the Windows 7 environment?   (I have a very old IBM PC Camera too that works well in my old XP system, but not yet tried in the current system, even if the driver has been installed).

If finally I am not able to use the scanner under Windows 7, I reluctantly get Windows XP reinstalled on another drive and boot into it just to be able to use the scanner which is functioning perfectly.

I am a person of 78 years and enjoy using and experimenting with my PC, which has become an addiction for me.

    Thank you.

You can buy a copy of XP that would probably cost more to replace the scanner and now is not the right time to install XP anyway.

Your webcam is a lost cause. Compatibility mode has been designed to work for older programs, and Microsoft does not recommend to use it to install the device drivers. I have no idea why some here suggest a possibility...
