Is Windows 8 32-bit or 64-bit software?

I'm obviously completely new to this. I am trying to install a printer driver, but do not know how do I know if I have to download the 32-bit version or 64-bit. Thanks for your help.

Hello

It is both, depending on whether one has been installed on your computer.

The best way to know that you have is to look at your C:\ drive.

If you see files program and Program Files (x 86), you use 64-bit Windows.

If you see just Program Files once, it is 32-bit.

When looking for drivers, and you have the choice, enter the your version.

Many times, you get the drivers\software even without worrying.

Most of the drivers and software are available only in 32-bit, but work on a 64-bit computer, but not the reverse.

64-bit stuff will not work on a 32-bit computer

  • 32-bit Windows 7-64 bit software up and running?

I plan to get a new laptop with 64-bit, Windows 7 Professional.

Can you tell me if I do not receive 64-bit, I still will be able to load all my packages of 32-bit software on a Windows 7 64 bit and will they run right with Windows 7 64 bit?

    Thanks for any response.

    Hi all

In general most 32-bit applications will work correctly in a 64-biit operating system, but there are some exceptions.  You also need to consider hardware compatibility with a 64-bit operating system.  A simple way to check if your hardware and your applications will work would be to check the Windows 7 Compatibility Center:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Since the Compatibility Center, you can search your hardware and your applications by name and the 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility.

In addition, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor can be used to check your system for hardware and application compatibility.  Upgrade Advisor will scan your system and checks in general for possible compatibility with Windows 7 and then issues offers advice on how to solve them.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Upgrade-Advisor

Applications that have compatibility problems more often are what are called kernel mode applications and legacy 16-bit applications.  Examples might include older versions of applications based on the BACK, the anti-virus applications, old material that is not 64-bit capable.  In view of the very broad ecosystem of applications and hardware, I strongly recommend that you use the Compatibility Center and upgrade advisor to help make the decision.

I hope this helps! Shad Larsen

  • Office Jet Pro L7580, Windows 7 64-bit Installer

I have a Dell Studio Desktop, which I updated to Windows 7 32-bit to Windows 7 64 bit. Now, I'm trying to reinstall the drivers for my Office Jet Pro L7580. The Office Jet and the Dell Studio are on a cable network.

I tried to use the HP printer install Windows Wizard, but whenever I use it, I get the message "the wizard has detected a problem with the software driver for the selected printer. If I continue I then I get a message "the system cannot find the file specified" or a message indicating that an error has been detected and the system must be closed. Once, I don't have the progress bar, but it did not move past the first step.

Before performing the installation, I disabled the TSRs terminate and stay, erased from records and trust temporary and disabled my McaFee firewall. Just as it had all but recommended no advantage.

I also tried to use the utilities to remove the driver, two of them, but this made no difference either.  The documentation says that the driver removal utilities will run at 4 levels. I do not know how, because it doesn't seem to be an exe file. However, when I run the batch file "Uninstall" Windows, it seems to work at level 2 and ask as I restart the system. Deleting driver utilitiesboth I raced my attached printer and not connected to the network.

I guess the message "The wizard has detected a problem with the driver software" must disappear before I can get a positive result. I guess also that this message is displayed because there is some residual remaining Windows 7 32-bit software that utilities to uninstall Windows not delete because they are not executed correctly.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Having investigated a bit more, there are a couple of logs who recommend using Revo and CCleaner to remove songs flying over a previous installation. I've loaded and executed these two and Revo has found a large number of entries that I deleted.

I then ran the wizard again and after a lapse of acertain time and a recommendation to turn my anti virus software I know succeeded. I will think long and hard before repeating this procedure.

  • How to install Sheridan on Windows 8-64 Bit.

    Hello!

I have install this windows 8 32-bit software, it will install perfectly. But now I install this software on windows 8 64-bit Bit.Please tell me what I do for this message.

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, 8 64-bit Windows does not support 16-bit programs, so there is no way to install or run directly. 32-bit Windows has backward compatibility for the integrated 16-bit programs, but 64 does not work.

You might be able to make workarounds: you can configure a virtual machine using VMWare or Virtualbox. It's not too difficult to implement - I recommend a bit of research, but Virtualbox Setup is simple enough for a Windows virtual machine.

The problem is, it will require you to have an unused Windows license, you'll probably need to buy.

Another option is to install the 32-bit version of Windows 8 on this machine. The problem with that is 32-bit Windows cannot use more than about 3.5 GB of memory. So, if your computer has more or 4 GB of memory, it will go unused.

But if this program is essential for your business, it might be worth the trade-off.

  • conflicts of Outlook and firefox on Windows XP 32-bit

    Problem reports and fix:
Latest Firefox on Windows XP 32-bit.

Earlier, Microsoft Office updates have been applied in the past months.

There were a lot of problems where Outlook and Firefox seem to share the same video address space, parts of Windows Outlook appeared in the windows of Firefox and vice verse. It's a pain. I needed to have one or another stop for each other at work and then things got worse than that, Firefox crashing very often. So I did a system restore to the 01/01/2015, which has removed the MS Office updates. Then Firefox and then didn't start because he didn't like the system restore. Reinstalled Firefox on top of Firefox [uninstall] and it starts now.

Now, Firefox and Outlook work well. Will not apply to MS Office updates as MS is not stable or worrying questions about Windows XP.

The problem has been fixed. You are implying that restored system restored a video driver update and that was not the case. Yes, the video display problem in question, but it doesn't seem to be a video driver issue.

I posted with the solution so that it would be here if someone had a similar problem. I don't know why you trying to tell me how to fix something I said has been set.

I don't think that Vista will support the latest version of iTunes, which is necessary for the latest version of iOS. I will check something quick and get back to you. What iPhone do you have? What happens when you try to download the latest version?

  • Embedded search Google on our site shows no results. Windows 8, 64-bit, Firefox 30

We integrated into our Google search site. It has been brought to my attention by one of our employees that Firefox does not show the search results after a click on the search button. The question seems to be limited only to Firefox. Tested the problem on Internet Explore 10 and Google Chrome and both work as expected, showing the results on our results page.

I use Windows 8, 64-bit, Firefox 30. The user whose question is on Windows 7, 64 bit.

I used the Web console and there was an error message
    "TypeError: google.search.Search.apiary5337 is not a function". "

I'm not sure that it is the root of the problem or not, but why would that work in Chrome and Internet Explorer and not Firefox?

If you need to check it out, the website is http://www.dmns.org/ . The search box at the top right of the page. You will see that the page redirects to our ' / results? q = searchterm "." We are a scientific institution so if you type 'science' in the search box, you will be redirected to the page ' / results "with the query string of 'science' for the search term. But in my case, the search results below are white. If you search even if Chrome or IE results show very well.

Oh, I don't have any add on installed on Firefox.

Any suggestions or a fix would be great.

    Thank you.

    Carlos Mosqueda

    Problem SOLVED.
It is probably still a bug in Firefox. Our Google search < script > that call the function Javascript to Google has been within the Body tag. I moved the Script tag in the head and now it seems to work as expected. In the new Firefox, are not allowed within the Body element < script > tags?
