  • Cannot install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  Setup error

I can't install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  I get a vague error that says: Setup error, sontact Adobe customer service. Customer service Adobe refuses to help me.  That really bothers me.

First of all, I want to thank the people who have responded to my message.  I am impressed by your desire to help and interest to my problem of extreemly.  Thank you very much! I appreciate it.

I've not seen a way to get a transcript of my cat.  I should have it printed at the end of my cat. Overall, I think my concerns are with Windows itself and also how Adobe as a company manages a call from someone who gets a Setup error that says "call Adobe customer service. I bought this program runs on Windows 7 and I'm installing on a Windows 7 computer. I think that if Adobe will give a vague error message and tell you to contact them, they should give me more help "your product is too old, good luck on the forums. I could see if I call and ask him how to do something, maybe that my product is too old for this, but I think their reaction was unacceptable.  I hope that enough other people are complaining so that Adobe changed this policy.

Wow, it took a lot of time to deal with. I guess it's mainly a Windows file permissions problem, but I think that Adobe should a property for a client to have to spend many HOURS trying to install their program on the operating system original they bought the program for.

Certainly, I don't like the way Adobe Dreamweaver Setup treats errors. Here are the facts as I know them.

When Setup fails during installation, installation subsequesnt would fail, but it would give a VERY cryptic error indicating that the installation has failed and I need to contact Adobe customer service.

In order to re - install, I had to uninstall.  Naturally my UN-installs failed every time, too. After much trial and error and audit of the forumns, I found installation of program under c:\programs files. I deleted them, rebooted, uninstalled with no error.  Then I could re - install without the vague error "contact Adobe customer service.  Note that I had to reinstall several times to get to the bottom of the problem installation so it takes too much time to understand.

In the end, I had to manually delete the C:\Windows\Installer to get Dreamweaver to install.  It took a lot of time to understand, too.  It is always installed with errors, but he says that Dreamweaver would work with limited functionality. So far, it's good enough for me and I'm tired of non-billable expenses on that.

Following is one of the main erros I've had when you first install failed.  IF ANYONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHY MY INSTALLATION NO WAS NOT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.  IT SEEMS THAT IT IS NOT HAVE THE OPERATING SYSTEM PERMISSIONS TO ACCESS THESE FILES, BUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE PROGRAM IS INSTALLED AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. Any thoughts?

Thanks again to all who helped!

  • Re-installing dreamweaver cs4 on windows 10

HI - CS4 all programs are busy ok except Dreamweaver (php files don't open). So I uninstalled Dreamweaver and tried to re - install fresh from DVD.

But after clicking on DW for the installation, the installation process hangs...

You realize that CS4 should never work on Win 10, right?

CS4 was built for XP & Vista.

  • Problems of Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows 7

Recently got a new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, I reinstalled Dreamweaver CS4 32 bit and copied all the files data for my sites on my old computer running Windows XP Professional. The data on the XP machine files were located in Documents and Settings / My Documents/Web site on the Windows 7 machine I put the site in Documents / My Documents/Web site.

When I open Dreamweaver on the Windows 7 machine and use Site Manager to add the site to the repository and try to view the site in Firefox or Internet Explorer preview will load the page however no style sheet information load only the Javascript for my Gallery work. I checked the source references and it of the same on the Windows 7 machine and the XP machine. Thinking it was just a matter of a broken link source (even if the images in the Gallery appear correctly in Dreamweaver) I added images from the source to the gallery in Dreamweaver on Windows 7 computer. When I went to the preview of the browser once more the Gallery did not work.

I also noticed that the options and sometimes signs disappear and reappear not until the program is closed and then reopened.

Is there a compatibility issue with Dreamweaver CS4 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 which would cause this kind of problem?

Have you set up your site in DW on new computer - Site > new Site?

CS4 on Windows 10 seems to be broken... at least I can't clone. Before that, Silver FX and the related add ons did not work. I would like to remove and re-install Photoshop CS4 on Windows 10, but I'm afraid that none of these upgrade CD I will work... they are all dependent on a previous installation. If I remove photoshop and try to use the CS4 install disc I have, it fails? Will I need to re - install Photoshop 5.5 and each single update since then go to CS4?

You need not install older versions in order to get the last update enabled.  During the CS4 activation process, you can specify the eligible previous version (choose the oldest among a list, then enter its serial number).  Choose any one you had just before CS4.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and Windows 8

I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8.  I'm a private person who manages three sites using Dreamweaver CS4, one for a school and two nonprofit organization...  Local display contains all of the files on my disk instead of only the files in the files belonging to each Web site.

    Is this a compatibility issue?

    Can anyone offer assistance?

When you configure the Local root folder, make sure that DW is to put the right way. I know that there is a glitch in DWCS4 that would essentially "on upward directory" folder even if you asking in the right place and click OK. (until a few weeks ago, I was still using DWCS4 and fought this issue whenever I made a new site)

Go to your site broken using Site definition > Manage Sites > change

    Click the Advanced tab

Look at the text file box root Local. That's where DWCS4 love missing his shot upward. If the root folder of your site was supposed to be C:\Users\yourname\Desktop\Folder1 it will probably show C:\Users\yourname\Desktop instead. You should be able to change this manually by adding appropriate after the folder name.

Otherwise, the way to fix when you make a new site is to navigate to the correct location, twice when adding the local root folder in the Site definition process. Usually, he'll get the correct location on the second attempt.

  • try to install dreamweaver 8 on windows 8.1

Never fix this?  I have exactly the same problem with Dreamweaver 8.  (Yes, I know this is old, but I * bought * it and paid money for it so I intend to continue to use it.)

I did * not * have this problem when I installed on my workstation windows XP 8 months ago, but I it make me feel all the time with my new laptop Windows 8.1.  I have a * suspicion * it has something to do with not allowing Windows not Dreamweaver to write in the file data so my serial number is actually never recorded, but I don't know for certain.

I'm not looking forward to the call of support to which I suspect that their response will be safe that I cannot solve it and does "buy an upgrade."

Dreamweaver 8 has been designed for Windows® 2000, Windows XP and Macintosh Mac OS® X 10.3 and 10.4. You should still be able to use it on these operating systems, but it is such an old version is no longer supported and was not designed to run on 64-bit more current operating systems.

  • I try to install Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows 8, it said "the Installer database is corrupt"

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 on my new Windows 8 PC and when I run the installation program. EXE, it says "the Installer database is corrupt" on my original CD and the backup that I did.

    The error is here:

Dreamweaver CS3 on my new PC in Windows 8

It would probably never work. CS3 is same not hold for Win 7. Delete the caps.db in the folder selections respective (info here) and then take the usual steps to run as administrator, disable UAC and security tools and possibly using compatibility modes, but as I said, be prepared that this may be useless and you spend a Sunday afternoon without achieving anything whatsoever...

You could try to use the uninstall CS4 script first and then try to reinstall the software...

  • Dreamweaver cs4 and windows 10 compatibility

I searched this issue, but can't find an answer regarding an original factory install of Windows 10... most of the responses relate an upgrade of the operating system.

I need a new computer and I'm thinking of Dell XPS 8900 with Windows 10... I have CS4... will be compatible?

    Your help will be appreciated.

It is a good Heads up, but I think you'll find that the library visual C + is included in the package of CS4.

  • How do we install dw cs4 in windows 7 Professional

DW CS4 can be installed on windows 7 Professional? If so how can I go about it? I get the error message.

Wow, I never heard that past, records are difficult of Devils bit. Had to be one heck of a manufacturing defect.

Unfortunately Adobe does not replace the older versions support: Obtain replacement CDs, DVDs, books.

No biggie, you can download the program from Adobe here:download and Installation Help can use the activation information you have with your broken disks to get the downloaded version on the 30 day trial mode.

  • DreamWeaver CS4 on Windows 7 64 bit

I use DW successfully and seamlessly since 1997 on Windows 95, 98, XP.

I have the same problem with DW 8, update the trial of CS4 and CS4 upgrade (bought) on my brand new 64 bit computer HP Windows 7 brand:

When I update an existing page of DW and save it, I get this message: 'access denied '.  On the version test and DW 8 on Windows 7, I get a message "permission has been denied."  I assumed that the purchased update would solve this problem.

So for each page update, I have to put the content into a new page with my template, rename, delete the original file, then rename the new file the same name as one that I've updated.  Sometimes this happens every time that I reboot and re - open the file.

It is particularly disturbing when I update a model - it'll only update files that allow me to access.  There are more than 500 files and I don't think I would have to release each of the template, rename, delete, rename and then return to the original.

What is a Windows 7 problem or a problem with Adobe.  What is the solution?

    Thank you in advance!

This looks like a permissions issue.  Check the folder that all these files to ensure that you have full access read/write on the files.

  • I want to install Dreamweaver cs4 on my laptop

Hi, I installed on my main machine of Dreamweaver and want to install it on my laptop as well, when I try to do that it won't let me.  My laptop is on the network and I guess he acknowledged that Dreamweaver is loaded on another machine.  I understand the thought that I should be able to load it on a second machine.   So, how can this work?

What happens when you try?  What is a retail version that you bought?

You should be able to have it installed on two computers that * YOU * are the main users, so they peer LAN or not.

  • Link of the menu on the issue of Dreamweaver CS4

    www.banners4churches.com

Problem only occurs on pc computers in our office.

    1. person clicks on the link in the menu (left).

    2. this type of menu increases in size.

    3. after consulting of the linked page, nobody returns to the home page and the visited link shows as the expanded type.

Baffled.  I've checked the CSS rules (I believe completely), but I can't understand what has happened. I can't change anything.  Help or suggestion is appreciated.  Thank you!!!

You don't want the 'right' alignment links to be so you can remove this parameter too. Starting:

    a:visited {     color: #900;}

If the "visited" links ARE the same color as the 'links' themselves so no need to declare anything for a: visited. You can just get rid of this completely css
