DreamWeaver CS4 on Windows 7 64 bit

I use DW successfully and seamlessly since 1997 on Windows 95, 98, XP.

I have the same problem with DW 8, update the trial of CS4 and CS4 upgrade (bought) on my brand new 64 bit computer HP Windows 7 brand:

When I update an existing page of DW and save it, I get this message: 'access denied '.  On the version test and DW 8 on Windows 7, I get a message "permission has been denied."  I assumed that the purchased update would solve this problem.

So for each page update, I have to put the content into a new page with my template, rename, delete the original file, then rename the new file the same name as one that I've updated.  Sometimes this happens every time that I reboot and re - open the file.

It is particularly disturbing when I update a model - it'll only update files that allow me to access.  There are more than 500 files and I don't think I would have to release each of the template, rename, delete, rename and then return to the original.

What is a Windows 7 problem or a problem with Adobe.  What is the solution?

Thank you in advance!

This looks like a permissions issue.  Check the folder that all these files to ensure that you have full access read/write on the files.

I can't install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  I get a vague error that says: Setup error, sontact Adobe customer service. Customer service Adobe refuses to help me.  That really bothers me.

First of all, I want to thank the people who have responded to my message.  I am impressed by your desire to help and interest to my problem of extreemly.  Thank you very much! I appreciate it.

I've not seen a way to get a transcript of my cat.  I should have it printed at the end of my cat. Overall, I think my concerns are with Windows itself and also how Adobe as a company manages a call from someone who gets a Setup error that says "call Adobe customer service. I bought this program runs on Windows 7 and I'm installing on a Windows 7 computer. I think that if Adobe will give a vague error message and tell you to contact them, they should give me more help "your product is too old, good luck on the forums. I could see if I call and ask him how to do something, maybe that my product is too old for this, but I think their reaction was unacceptable.  I hope that enough other people are complaining so that Adobe changed this policy.

Wow, it took a lot of time to deal with. I guess it's mainly a Windows file permissions problem, but I think that Adobe should a property for a client to have to spend many HOURS trying to install their program on the operating system original they bought the program for.

Certainly, I don't like the way Adobe Dreamweaver Setup treats errors. Here are the facts as I know them.

When Setup fails during installation, installation subsequesnt would fail, but it would give a VERY cryptic error indicating that the installation has failed and I need to contact Adobe customer service.

In order to re - install, I had to uninstall.  Naturally my UN-installs failed every time, too. After much trial and error and audit of the forumns, I found installation of program under c:\programs files. I deleted them, rebooted, uninstalled with no error.  Then I could re - install without the vague error "contact Adobe customer service.  Note that I had to reinstall several times to get to the bottom of the problem installation so it takes too much time to understand.

In the end, I had to manually delete the C:\Windows\Installer to get Dreamweaver to install.  It took a lot of time to understand, too.  It is always installed with errors, but he says that Dreamweaver would work with limited functionality. So far, it's good enough for me and I'm tired of non-billable expenses on that.

Following is one of the main erros I've had when you first install failed.  IF ANYONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHY MY INSTALLATION NO WAS NOT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.  IT SEEMS THAT IT IS NOT HAVE THE OPERATING SYSTEM PERMISSIONS TO ACCESS THESE FILES, BUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE PROGRAM IS INSTALLED AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. Any thoughts?

Thanks again to all who helped!

  • Problems of Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows 7

Recently got a new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, I reinstalled Dreamweaver CS4 32 bit and copied all the files data for my sites on my old computer running Windows XP Professional. The data on the XP machine files were located in Documents and Settings / My Documents/Web site on the Windows 7 machine I put the site in Documents / My Documents/Web site.

When I open Dreamweaver on the Windows 7 machine and use Site Manager to add the site to the repository and try to view the site in Firefox or Internet Explorer preview will load the page however no style sheet information load only the Javascript for my Gallery work. I checked the source references and it of the same on the Windows 7 machine and the XP machine. Thinking it was just a matter of a broken link source (even if the images in the Gallery appear correctly in Dreamweaver) I added images from the source to the gallery in Dreamweaver on Windows 7 computer. When I went to the preview of the browser once more the Gallery did not work.

I also noticed that the options and sometimes signs disappear and reappear not until the program is closed and then reopened.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and Windows 8

I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8.  I'm a private person who manages three sites using Dreamweaver CS4, one for a school and two nonprofit organization...  Local display contains all of the files on my disk instead of only the files in the files belonging to each Web site.

    Is this a compatibility issue?

    Can anyone offer assistance?

When you configure the Local root folder, make sure that DW is to put the right way. I know that there is a glitch in DWCS4 that would essentially "on upward directory" folder even if you asking in the right place and click OK. (until a few weeks ago, I was still using DWCS4 and fought this issue whenever I made a new site)

Go to your site broken using Site definition > Manage Sites > change

    Click the Advanced tab

Look at the text file box root Local. That's where DWCS4 love missing his shot upward. If the root folder of your site was supposed to be C:\Users\yourname\Desktop\Folder1 it will probably show C:\Users\yourname\Desktop instead. You should be able to change this manually by adding appropriate after the folder name.

Otherwise, the way to fix when you make a new site is to navigate to the correct location, twice when adding the local root folder in the Site definition process. Usually, he'll get the correct location on the second attempt.

  • How to update of Photoshop and the rest of the suite CS4 for windows 7 64 bit

Hello.  I have been using Adobe CS4 Master Suite on a 32-bit vista system.

    I go to a windows 7 64 bit computer.

After going through the entire process of Installation on master, all of my Adobe programs appear in 32 bit / x 86 format, except Photoshop which appears both in 32-bit / x 86 folder AND 64-bit.

How can I get the rest of the master Suite to appear / install in 64-bit?  (is there a separate update?  require a separate purchase?  "and why photoshop worked so that the rest didn't?)

And how do I check within the individual program to see if it is 32 or 64 bit?  (photoshop has an identified system PS as 64-bit info tab, but who do not have other progs)

    Thank you

I think that the only 64-bit in the following application photoshop cs4, but the rest of them should work

well on windows 7 64 bit.

  • CS4 and Windows 7 64 bit

I have CS4 Design Premium and is looking to buy a new computer with Windows 7 64-bit.  My problem is that I can't get a straight answer on whether or not it is compatible.

I called Adobe support and asked him directly and he said no, CS4 will not work on Windows 7 64 bit.  After a bit more digging, I suspect that there what do sellers and he tried to upsell me CS5.  I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it, a new computer is quite expensive in itself.  I searched these forums 10 or 12 pages deep and I saw a few threads on this thing, some people have trouble here and there and others solved and it works fine.

Seeing that some people have this work gives me hope, but I don't want to go through a troubleshooting nightmare either.

Can someone here set the record straight please?

I appreciate any help I can get

    Thank you

    E Jay

For the record the name of Adobe Systems Incorporated, let me assure you that CS4 Design Premium that works indeed install and works on Windows 7 64 bit. This is exactly the environment I used for my Adobe systems before the release of CS5. Also, I apologize for the ignorant response Support Adobe. The answer you received was certainly not what Adobe Support are inculcated to stakeholders to give!

  • Icons not shown in CS4 under Windows 7 64-bit

I can't Photoshop icons to display pictures in Windows Explorer (Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, Photoshop CS4).  Anyone has any idea on this?  The 32-bit version worked well.

(Blue with PS logo on them) icons or thumbnails (small images of your file)?

In Photoshop 64 bit Preferences > file management, make sure thumbnails is checked.  Maximize PSD/PSB compatibility is set to "always".

Windows cannot display the PSD thumbnails by itself. You need a third-party codec.

  • I have problems with Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Windows 7 32-bit Professiol.

When I open an image of the bridge, the photoshop Panel is locked on one side of the screen.  The onle way I can get out of it is CTRL, alt, delete.  The problem persists.  I tried to uninstall Adobe and reinstall with no luck.  I called Adobe and they think that there is a problem with the security system in Windows.  Help, please.

    Hey jrcjr,

This could be attributed to several factors such as conflicts between device drivers, applications, settings of operating system, hardware, and corrupt elements in specific files.

    Basic troubleshooting

    1. make sure that the computer meets the minimum requirements for Photoshop.
    2. install all Windows updates. .
3 re-create the Photoshop preferences file.

Re-create the Photoshop preferences file to eliminate problems that may cause a damaged Preferences file.

To re-create the Photoshop preferences files:

    1. quit Photoshop.
    2. rename the \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp directory Users\ [username] Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.old.
3 launch Photoshop. Photoshop creates a new Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file.
If the problem persists, the Photoshop preferences files aren't the cause. To restore custom settings, quit Photoshop, and then delete the new Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file and restore the original name of the previous Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file.

  • Dreamweaver cs4 and windows 10 compatibility

I searched this issue, but can't find an answer regarding an original factory install of Windows 10... most of the responses relate an upgrade of the operating system.

I need a new computer and I'm thinking of Dell XPS 8900 with Windows 10... I have CS4... will be compatible?

    Your help will be appreciated.

It is a good Heads up, but I think you'll find that the library visual C + is included in the package of CS4.

  • Dreamweaver CS4/Win 7 "lock" when "initialize Extension Data.

Have not had any problems until this morning - went to support Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) computer and once he starts "Extension data initialization" in the context of all of the files it loads (first thing), locks up program / freezes and I have to force its closure.  I tried to run a virus scan and malware (infection), and I ran the latest version of Piriform CCleaner to clean the registry.  Nothing works.

Any ideas?  Is there a specific file or the folder that I should look at the files that load in case of "Extension initialization data"?  Files that need to be there (a list, if possible)?  If so, a way to replace all the files with those eventually downloaded online in case they are corrupted?

    Thanks for help.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, these are images of remote path. I looked in the folder structure, but could not find the Configuration/temp of the user folder. Can you point me in the right direction?

    It is usually here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\ [username] Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration

Note that the Application Data folder is hidden by default, so you have to turn on the display of records hidden in Windows Explorer folder Options.
