Issue of advanced Actions

Hello

I have a box click with the ability to use a keyboard shortcut. If you click the box click on I want to go to the next slide and add a point. If the shortcut key is used I want to move to another slide and 2 points. The difficulty in setting this up. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

There is no way to have a different action for a click and the shortcut. I'm sorry. In addition, an interactive object can have only 01:20.

Even with two interactive objects he could never work, because too much point 1 and 2 points would be added to the total score, which means 3 points in total.

  • My conditional Actions become advanced actions?

This happened to me like 5 times... I always use variables to create checkpoints on the subjects or the buttons, so when my student visit them all Cp invites with a Windows with something like: congratulations, you've seen then all now to the next slide, blah blah...

BUT: The conditional actions often turn into advanced actions and some actions that I had programmed, make me start all lose... (I have backups, but very annoying sound copy slides, which causes problems of its own related actions).

Anyone know why this happens? I understand that this only happens when I continue to make changes in my project, but I always try to leave the variables and objects involved in the action intact.

I assume you are using Captivate 9? The issue you have now detected immediately after the liberation, and there is hotfix that you have to install to prevent the conversion of advanced conditional actions in standard common action. Take a look on:

  • Checkbox Widget & advanced Actions help

    Hi all

I created a slide containing 2 issues (1 using the Widget of CheckBox and 2 using the Radio button Widget) as shown below.

    Screen Shot 2015-10-06 at 10.15.53.png

I implemented an advanced Action (below) that verifies that the user has selected the right answers and then displays feedback (being good or bad) and then move to the next slide. The correct answers are 2 and 5 for the Widget of Checkbox and No. for the Radio Btn Widget.

    Screen Shot 2015-10-06 at 13.25.29.png

    Screen Shot 2015-10-06 at 13.25.35.png

The problem I have is to do with question 1 that uses the widget of the checkbox. Although the user must select 2 and 5, they can select several checkboxes and the slide advances always. Is anyway I can reconfigure my tip action, while this does not happen?

    Thank you

    Hi Ross

Try this: it is the action of tip attached to the "submit" button.

  • Faster advanced actions?

I have a project with a screen that shows about 15 forms and a total score in the upper corner.

When a user clicks on one of the forms of the form disappears and adds '10' to the dashboard (using a variable)

I have a box click on each shape and you need a tip action to trigger the increment of 10 to the variable of dashboard and hide the corresponding shape.

But this means I have to create 15 advanced actions, one for each form.

Y at - it a way more quick to do, or is the only way to create a further action for each form of art?

What version you are using, please? And is not at all a matter of "start." If you want to put me on the issue, waiting for your response.

First: Why use a click on a form when the form can be used as a button? Who will save you half objects. This is possible because forms appeared with version 6.

For the basic question, it depends on your version. If you are still on the 6, only way is indeed to reproduce advanced actions. If you're 7 or 8, use a shared action with the form (button) as the only parameter. You can apply shared action to each button of form, no need to set the variable of dashboard as parameter (which is possible in 8) being given that it never changes. Take a look on:

  • slide/advanced action does not

    Hello

I am currently using Captivate 6 and I setup a project that has a timer on the question slide 1st and then I implemented a tip action so when then the timer stops it will jump to the slide results otherwise it will continue on the project.
    Here is my Advanced action.

    Untitled.jpg

The timer variable is v_time that I installed on time and created in the variables.

I put each slide (excluding the first slide of the question and the results slide) with the topic fast action on the entrance and exit of the slide.

It's used to work when I tested published in the web browser. I have a copy of one I published in January that works but now for some reason it does not work.

I think there is a problem with the action of jumping to drag, but I'm not 100% sure.

I tried to recreate a new project with the same tip action, but it still doesn't work.

I'm stuck and feel I'm wasting my time. I spent 3 days on this and I'm ripping my hair out.

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance

    Kim

Kim, what event you attach the advanced action? If you use the 'old' included with CP clock widget (exist also in previous versions), it has no events, will only change the value of the variable associated user. You have action by another event like a drag event (enter, leaving). You have only a message pops up when the time has elapsed, does not prevent the user to answer the question.

Second question: what version are you using? Associate you the variable v_time in the properties of the Widget? Did you type the exact "v_time" name, because there is a problem with the timer in 6.0.1 widget, which prevents the seizure of some characters. Maybe it's the issue that you are facing now. You must be sure that the correct name is linked and that the variable exists. Lastly but not least, the values of the variable associated with 6 are now 'true' and 'false', not 0 or 1. I just checked the workflow in this way with the widget timer with 6.0 (have another newer version on 6.1):

    • created a user Vtime variable (because these characters are accepted in the properties of the Widget, no respect underscores and capital V)
    • put the clock on the first question slide widget, timed for the rest of the project, countdown with message and associated Vtime
    • created an advanced action conditional like yours, but with true as a literal value; This action will be triggered by each event on enter for all the slides in question except first

"For the rest of the project" is the timer? Last tip: never use submit all the with the clock widget, because this feature parce que cette fonctionnalite desactivera will disable jump auto everything.

  • Advanced action appears in a loop - 6 Captivate

I have a HTML5 project that connects to another URL page on about 5 slides.  Jim was eough kind to inform me that there is a known issue on the binding of Captivate URLs that are not typed by hand. All URLS are typed by hand, and all the advanced actions are put in place so that on the last click fo the button, the blade should move on to the next, and the URL should open in a new tab (in that order).  This goes perfectly on the first series, but the second set does not advance the slide, he just opened the new window. If you return to the captivate window and click on the next button it respawns the new window, never to go to the next slide.  I deleted the project on my Web server, slides have to be recreated, rebuilt the action advanced, with no effect.  Anyone else running in all what simiilar?

It is a bit of a show-stopper for me because I don't want to have just code a button - my hope was to make it run as a native application iPad, but if I can not take the chrome because users will have to navigate it is impossible.

Add this to your existing JS code below:

    forward();
    open_win();

  • Return custom advanced actions?

Hi, I have a question and don't even know if it is possible to resolve the issue.

I did an exercise where students must choose the right words for a search. When the student clicks on a good word (click on a transparent caption box), the word disappear and reappear in a square (an invisible legend that is shown when you click on the click box). There are 4 words to be clicked. What I want is something like "If the Minimoys legends 4 are shown, display a caption"Good Job!"or"If the 4 click boxes user clicked, see the legend "good job!". "

In the same way, I have an exercise to drag and drop widgets. I had 3 in. square whose students have to drag things. I would like to have a feedback when the widget 3 are made.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you

    Laurie-Anne

    Hello Laurie-Anne,

I guess that it is not possible to click twice on a 'good word '? To be sure, you'd better hide the box click with the same tip action that you use to view the invisible legend.

In this case, I would use this approach:

    • Create a variable user v_counter
    • Add a statement to the advanced actions that are triggered by the boxes to click: Expression v_counter = v_counter + 1 which is really an increment action

Now, I need to know if you want to add a "Check" button, or the conditional action triggered automatically with each click on the click box?

If you have a control button (the easier way, but probably not what you want):

    • create a conditional action triggered by control button

      • IF v_counter is equal to 4
      • THEN show TC_Feedback (which is the text of the legend 'Good work' that is initially invisible)
      • OTHERWISE, continue

If you want all triggered by the click, you'll need a conditional action advanced for each click box, with two decisions:

    • first decision is really a standard simulated action

      • If 1 = 1
      • THEN... all the statements that I showed earlier, you already here
      • OTHERWISE, you should not this one
    • second decision is the condition, that I have just described for the Check button

I was out looking, but it must be your workflow

Sorry, for the widget that I need to know if it's the interactive Drag-and-drop widget?

  • Possible to change the variable cpQuizInfoPassFail through advanced actions?

Is it possible to change the variable cpQuizInfoPassFail through advanced actions? I do not see this or the other quizzing variable when I try to create an advanced action and change by entitlement or expression. Let me explain what I want to accomplish, I ask the wrong question. I have a training project, with that I need to include a post test. I don't really like the captivate quizzes. I want the post-test to play as a ride on jeopady where the user chooses issues category and gets points if the user answers correctly. For this I must ask questions on a game board and (from what I can fig) you cannot have multiple questions on the same page. I'm building the quiz with my own custom variables and coded so that the program jumps to a page of the certificate if the user gets more than 84 points. THA all works very well. But I have to be able to tell the database that the program will connect with the user has passed the quiz. I thought I could do this if I assign the value 1 to the variable cpQuizInfoPassFail. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance for any help,

    Doug Jackson

    Hi Doug,.

I don't see the version you are using. Each interactive object can be marked, has a report following properties in the control panel (if you use CP5 or CP5.5) or a tab in the Properties dialog box reports, if you use a different version. You must add a score (default value is normally 1 point) and make sure you add it to the total score.

If you want to make me a glance, post your file on acrobat.com (free, use your Adobe ID), share and publish. You will have a link that you can copy into a private message to me.

  • JavaScript advanced action

I created a tip action that I called "showMe".

Then, I tried to trigger JavaScript. I tried

    cp.runJavascript ("showMe");

    cp.runJavascript (showMe);

    and

    cp.runJavascript (cp.model.data.showMe.oca); (I guess).

but they give just JavaScript errors.

How to call and advanced action Cp 9 using JavaScript?

The cp.runJavascript needs another "_self" argument, but it still does not work.

The Advanced "showMe" action name exists in the IDE, not in the output of HTML5. The only thing that exists in the code is all JavaScript or cpCommands that make up the tip action, that is to say:

    CP. Show ("Something");

    cp.runJavascript ("someFunction () ', '_self'")

    cp.jumpToNextSlide)

You are on the right track by using the "oca", but does not have the implementation. You have to find the item that has the specific property "oca".

    cp.runJavascript (cp.model.data.slideID.elementID.oca, "_self");

If you have a button called 'cc_btn' which is configured to display the rest of the project, it would be:

    cp.runJavascript (cp.model.data.cc_btn.oca, "_self");

It all depends on what is triggering the fast action. You will first need to obtain the id of the slide, once you have that you can browse the 'if' to get the item and property ownership "oca".

  • Hide advanced action does not work after that triggered the effect

I have a pretty simple step action that does the following:

    Hide banner

Apply motion effect to 3 SmartShape from right to left

    Cache: SmartShape3

SmartShape 3 is essentially half a rectangle rounded, which acts as a banner with text. At the beginning of the slide, it is hidden and sitting almost out of the scene. When you click a button, it does the following:

    See the banner

    Show: SmartShape3

Applies the effect of movement from left to right to SmartShape

This gives the illusion that it slides in from the left. The reason why I had it sat a little on the scene at the beginning, is that the effect is slow, so this makes it speed up as it has less distance to travel.

The idea is the action above in blue is triggered and the banner slide from the left on the stage. Another button is pressed and the Red action is triggered sliding off the stage. But once the motion effect has been run, it does not seem to hide, leave the end of the rounded rectangle visible on the stage.

I tried to adjust the break lines in the buttons that trigger these actions further pushing them to the bottom of the timeline, but it has no effect. I actually expected to start the path and then hide the shape so fast, that you wouldn't see in fact a large part of the effect as when stocks advanced spear they are super fast.

Am I missing something or is this just a limitation with effects using advanced Actions?

You have a misunderstanding about the actions. All orders in a fast action are executed in sequence, but immediately. The effects also have a duration, you don't say how long you have applied.  Can you post a screenshot of the timeline? Have you checked the length of the path, is it enough? You do this using the same temporal effects. BTW, I often apply such an effect using micronavigation instead of applying it. In my last blog, you can see an example:

  • Video Autoplays despite advanced actions

I have several videos embedded in a module, and each one is programmed to pause until the user clicks play.  But the video to the FIRST slide of the autoplays module, regardless of the advanced action related to it. (Note: this only happens when published as a swf file.) In HTML 5, it is very good, and in preview mode, it's fine.) The video is moved to the bottom of the timeline to avoid playing automatically. What is going on??

Can give you more detail than "advanced action" related to the first slide.

In any case: personally I never would put something "heavy" on a first slide in a course. Have you tried to insert a title slide or (short) Intro before the first slide? If the measure of progress is initiated by the event on entering this slide, the reason could be that the loading is not completely finished and that causes the action not to run as you want.

  • Object hidden in the project after Advanced action

    Scenario:

I have a slide to preview Quiz set up that allows for the learner to choose to go back to some of the content to look again, or move forward for the quiz.  If they choose to return to the content, I won't have to retake the course (unless they want) so I created a form of "Take the Quiz" I use as button will bring back you to the quiz on any slide.  I placed on the first content slide and set it to display the rest of the way, but then made invisible to begin.

    What I've done so far:

I have set up variables for each module and created a tip action that has defined the variable for each module to 1 it's over.  Each slide content performs an advanced action on enter to see if all module variables are set to 1.  If they are, the form of "Take the Quiz" appears.

    The problem:

When the learner clicks to review the documents, the form of "Take the Quiz" don't appears on the initial slide, it was placed on, and not on any other blades.

The only thing I can think of to get around this problem is to create a distinct "Take the Quiz" form for each slide and have action show them to all.  I would like to avoid that, as some of my courses have quite a few slides.

Can someone suggest an another course of action for me?  I hope this is enough information, but if you need more, I will be happy to provide it.

    Thank you

    John

  • Advanced Scripts of Action does not not in the advanced Actions window

I have no idea how or why it happened, but on some scripts that I applied to some buttons, when I click on the folder icon to open the script in the advance action window, the script does not load. It shows just blank like this (screenshot below). If I try to select it from the dropdown of existing shares, it does not load. If I try to make a new script again, it will work initially, but the same thing happens if I try to open it again. No idea how to solve this problem?

    ExistingActions.jpg

It looks like the corruption of the file. You're careful with naming of decisions and measures? Never use a name that has already been used for another object.

If you copy an interactive object in a new project, the action in the annex is copied (at least if you're on CP8 or 9).  Normally slides copy and paste in a new project could help, only bit worried on the copy with the actions.

Have you already restarted Captivate and maybe your system as well? Worth a try.

  • Advanced actions - create field shows only as white

I am trying to create a new tip action. I have several shares that have one or two slight differences. It seems that I have to create each action from scratch every time. I think that the field "create from" would allow me to create a new action based on an existing (I have a number of them already), but this field contains only "white"... Any ideas of a workaround to get there (create action based on an existing one)?

Create a will be open only actions shared models that allows you to create a new tip action. Check my blog for articles on joint actions.

However for the advanced actions, you can duplicate an action, changing its name and change it. Remember to update the action.
