• General download size issues

  Hi - We have a DPS multi-folio app which has gone live. New issues are released each year. We have now two folios released, each measuring more than 500 GB. It's a bit inevitable due to the required amount of content: more than 100 pages with multi-state objects, hundreds of photos and dozens of interactive .oam files. I have two questions:

  • Are there best practices on how best to reduce the overall size of a folio downloading without sacrificing quality?

  • Is there a way to download just the newest folio in a DPS app instead of back issues as well? I wonder how, for example, a magazine like Esquire manages the issues already published while maintaining a size manageable download for its viewers.

  I assume you are talking about 500 MB.

  The user can choose download some folio he or she wants.

  For smaller files sizes wand to the articles of the unique orientation PDF 1024 x 768. Compress the videos as much as possible and if view you online adapted to the dimensions appropriate instead of scaling in InDesign. You can also consider streaming video.

• Satellite Pro U400-247 - noise static when the AC adapter is plugged

  I got by Satellite Pro U400-247 and you have a problem with the sound.

  Everytime I plugg in adapter (external power supply) there is a kind of droning noise static noise when I use the audio out (headphones).

  Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

  I think that this issue is released to a grounding problem.
  I read different forums on this kind of question it.
  Usually use the 3 cord power cable should help get rid you of this noise.

  In your case I would recommend asking for cord 3 power cable (maybe you need another adapter that supports the 3-wire power cord) to a Toshiba authorized maintainer.

• Mouse acceleration

  First Windows 7 is awesome the best OS out of the period of Ms. However, there is 1 thing that is annoying to hardcore gamers, the issue of the dreaded mouse acceleration.

  With Win XP you could easily edit a certain reg entry and it was perfect, but that is impossible [so im told] in win 7.

  Please help the millions of players with this issue and release a patch.

  Weird, I did hear someone complaining about this and I don't know how many online games I was with people on 7. Million? I don't think a lot of people is infested by this problem. You do not like it does or does not accelerate (it's the same for me XP is by default - I never had to change the sensitivity or acceleration in both)? If you need to have a lot more control, you can just get a third mouse utility out until they offer the possibility to play with the acceleration. Mouse Logitech usually come with the features of acceleration and speed of mouse that you can play with. I'll go out on a limb and say that all least, most hardcore gamers have more than a HP, Dell or Microsoft basic mouse.

  Shoot, even the Intellipoint software may have what you are looking for. Good luck!

• Question of WRT160NL

  WRT160NL doesn't seems to allow N-speed connections. My laptop with Intel 4569AGN only connects at 54 Mbps at best. She acknowledged the 802.11n router and says that the connection quality is Excellent. I don't think I could limit this adapter to connect only to speed 802.11 g (at least I've never configured to do this). So, what could be the problem?

  Wireless router configuration is set to Mixed, with everything else being automatic or default. Security is WPA2-PSK/MAC filtering/SSID not Broadcast not.

  Found the solution. 4569AGN has a list of known issues (see Release Notes) and here is one of them which makes the difference:

  Running in 802.11n Mode

  Intel recommends using security with your wireless network. Intel (r) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter can reach transfer rates greater than 54 Mbps on 802.11n connections if you use AES security or no security. You may use no security when setting up or troubleshooting of the network.

  To enable AES to personal security, select WPA-Personal (AES-CCMP) or WPA2-Personal (AES-CCMP) the menu of security settings. To enable AES to enterprise security, select AES-CCMP in the drop encryption data.

• Text and images disappear in overlays frame scrolling when you turn the iPad

  I'm having this problem:

  When I rotate from portrait to the horizontal, content scrolling frame iPad disappears, the same phenomenon occurs if the first view is horizontal to vertical.

  The names of levels of different content and images are different.

  The problem comes with the app Adobe Content Viewer of an iPad 3.2.1 version 3 with iOS beta 7 v.6 so that this does not happen on an iPad 1 with iOS 5.5.1 the file downloaded to the producer Folio folio is the same.

  Suggestions to solve this problem?

  A fix for a nearly identical issue was released on 13 September. Did you rebuild the application and try again?

  Hi Guido,

  I'm not very sure that patch that this feature is supported, but I had worked with RLM #5 and it was taken over and editable. But one thing is sure that you will not get many features without upgrading your ACE with the first patch (Oracle AS 10.1.2.3 - 5983622).

  It is always advisable to be on the latest patch to get the maximum functionality and to avoid known issues. Released last MLR is MLR 12 (8703404) and MLR 13 will be available soon.

  Please apply above two patches as I mentioned in my last post, and then try again.

  Downloaded Zip files - ask java.exe+.
  For windows, you have the choice to download the zip without the JDK included. It's not different from previous versions. You need access to the JDK and point SQL Developer for the java.exe on commissioning initial. If you download the zip file that includes the JDK in the early adopter release, you will be asked for the java.exe. You can search for and locate this file in the \sqldeveloper\jdk\jre\bin\ folder.

• Accelerated release of Firefox calendar is at the origin of the compatibility issues with our intranet applications - where can I find the terms of this annex, including the end of support dates?

  We are a University use an updated internal development of e-Learning applications which makes use of a framework rich client (ZK - www.zkoss.org). For reasons of compatibility with this application, as well as other general factors, we have standardized on FF 3.6 browser for all our desktop computers. Normally, we will review our browser selection once a year and make the changes/updates to compatibility level for 3 rd-party libraries we use and our own code, in order to address new developments in the browser market.

  However the FF of the new policy of difficult liberation our lives check. FF 6 came out just months after 5 FF. We perform an upgrade, we have to do a systematic series of tests, settings, changes etc. regression tests. The cost is not possible for us to do this every 3 months! So please can anyone point us to a clear release plan for FF that shows, for each version:

  a. Release date
  b. End-of-support date
  c. Release notes
  d. Compatibility in terms of HTML and Javascript/ECMAScript versions.

  New versions are will be released every 6 weeks, so until Mozilla announced they will do than support for a LTS version for business 'customers', you guys left to swing in the breeze as well as to be able to plan for the future with Firefox. I think that as long as the said decision is taken, support for Firefox 3.6 versions will continue. A 3.6.22 release is under development right now, probably for immediate release next week.

  As far as the end of support dates, as each new version is the version support ends for the previous version, with the exception of 3.6.x. currently Firefox 3.6.x and 6.0.x are the only versions that receive security updates. Firefox 4.0 and 5.0 is not 'supported' any longer.

• Windows Movie Maker 6.0 - release issues - VCD of low quality

  I recently published a project (audio and images only) directly on a CD of Movie Maker 6.0.  the quality of playback on Media Player is very good.  Unfortunately this CD can only be played back on a PC.

  When I publish the same project as an AVI or WMV file and then burn a VCD with Nero, the quality of play on the DVD player is much worse.  What I can do about the decline in the quality?

  In the meantime, I downloaded the 1024 X 768 WMV9 profile on the website of PapaJohn and saved to C:\Program Movie Maker\Shared\Profiles (after creating a file of profiles).   Unfortunately Movie Maker still does not show this new profile under the list down when published to the computer.

  Any suggestions on how to get the program to see the new file PRX?

  I also downloaded the Encoder 4 Expressions but have not been able to figure out how to open the custom profile for a glance.  I don't think that it is important unless I was planning on editing the file.

• Issue with video for the release of the ipad

  I try to have a question slide that contains a video.  After a few seconds, the video stops and the user had to answer the question.  Then the video would continue... I am having some major problems!  I can't even video to display... have you tried in .flv and .f4v formats...

  The orignal file was a .mov

  On the import of video, Captivate asked me if I wanted to convert the video to a file .flv or .f4v I agreed and the video wouldn't show

  Solution: Convert the .mov to a .mp4 file onto mine and then insert the .mp4 file in the slide and now it works fine.

  I get an error frm-41039 ' Invalid alert ID 0', whenver the query is executed. If I replace the coalesce(event_BEGIN_DATE,base_date) by a few event_begin_Date, the query works fine.
