It is advisable to manage the Planning, Essbase studio or planning 11.1.2.4 web UI?

Now that planning and workspace 11.1.2.4 has the ability to manage and administer the planning, is there a reason to use Essbase Studio?

I guess some may use Essbase Studio to extract of the report, but is - it useful for something else? Thank you.

You would use Essbase Studio to manage the planning, it really has nothing to do with the planning and studio for pure Essbase databases.

If you want to extract in planning, perhaps you should look at FDMEE

  • Is it possible to use EAS to manage the planning of the Dimensions and the members?

    Our Organization is still under implementation of the planning and implementation partner said that you can not use EAS change members because it would cause problems and I want someone to verify this, because I have little hard to believe.  I mean, using workspace is so awkward to edit members while eas is much easier and really tempting for me to try, I don't want to screw up anything.

    Any input is greatly appreciated,

    Yes. It is not best to use EAS to change members / any changes to metadata

    Planning is as a web based tool for planning/preparation of the budget having Essbase as a backend database and all the metadata is stored in a repository of the relationship (of planning) and are pushed into Essbase (where your data is stored).

    If you use Web Forms / has all the planning, and if you make changes to members directly in environmental assessments, it is reflected in planning and it is always advisable to not make changes directly from EAS.

    If it's just one / two Member changes then I would directly in the planning of the workspace. If there is a set of members then I prepare a file and then run it using contour load utility

  • How to set the alias with Essbase Studio?

    I read through P113-P118 "Oracle Essbase Studio user's Guide" on how to implement aliases. It seems easy t create the Alias defined according to the document.
    I want to put 100-10 aliases as "Cola", the information comes from the RDBMS to confirm. The product in RLDB a field SKU and SKU_Alias columns table, the Reference value is: 100-10 100 - 20, etc.

    First of all, it can be useful convert IST TBC in the Studio model, for this you will need to configure EIS and create the example application to confirm.
    Once it has been created in Studio, you can go to tools > migration catalogue IST and migrate the TBC of IST at the Studio application.
    If you use this method, all the aliases etc will be already set up to see how it's done.

    To set up the alias, you would go to
    Tools > "Alias set Manager" > create a new alias say "Default" and add a link, for example PRODUCTDIM. SKU to PRODUCTDIM. SKUALIAS

    Then on your right click "Properties Essbase" model > Alias tab > select the default alias table and move the window selected tables.
    This should then assigned the default table, if you check the properties to say PRODUCTDIM. SKU in the default alias tab and the mapping must be indicated.

    I want to know what is the way to restart the Hyperion Planning Server in a distributed... environment as I keep hearing people advising to restart the planning server... This means a full restart of the windows server on which planning is installed? or y at - it a simple way to reboot the server 11.1.2.3 planning?

    Now, to be more precise and to point, service order is not important in 11.1.2.2 there in older versions, make sure that your relational database is up and running for the planning application

    Make sure that your shared services, i.e. "managed by Hyperion Foundation Services Application Server" is running.

    For Essbase - process Oracle Manager (EPM_epmsytem)

    For the planning web app Hyperion Planning.

  • Cannot copy the planning data

    Hi gurus,
    I'm unable to copy data by using "copy data" in the planning of a web application.
    get an error "MSG_COPY_DATA_OPTIONS_FAILED: an error occurred when executing the specified calc script." Check the log for details".

    Here are the steps I checked:
    I checked if the planning and essbase are synchronized.
    The DBA team says that there are no spikes in memory.

    When I take a small data set he see data in the target, but the State in the Console work said treatment during the last 45 min.
    I was copying only one month of data.

    Help, please.

    She could be still ongoing on the essbase database, you should be able to open SEA and see the session or consult the essbase application log.

  • Unable to get the list of Essbase servers in the office with Smart View 11.1.2.1

    Anyone tried connection shared in Smart View 11.1.2.1? I am able to connect to, but it doesn't show all the servers in the non editable drop-down list. I tried with Office 2003 sp3, Office 2007 and office 2010, but none of them works. Also, I tried to find the datasourse.xml file in LWS - aps in the console of shared services, but is not there. I tried the solution given on that link also, but the datasourse.xml file is not in place.

    All components above configured successfully.

    I connect to Essbase through the URL http:// < server >: 19000/workspace/SmartViewProviders. It shows the login window and allow me to get gold, but the drop-down list is empty. No server listed.
    Let me know what I'm missing.

    I found the problem and solved it...

    Cause:
    SmartView is unable to save properly with all other components.

    Solution:
    After the installation of a SmartView, run the Configuration utility and select Foundation-> Web Configuration record properly with all other components.

    All depends on your infrastructure, and what products you use.
    More often they dev/prod are on different servers and are separate installs, the road that I would.
    Some clients share an environment development/test, but not all, not everyone is the same.
