It is call 'system Reserved (h :)) '.

Why after I installed windows 7 new local disk appeared "system Reserved (H 'only 64.6 MB.). Can I remove the local drive because I need the local disk, and what is the function of this new local disk.
I thank the of to help

Hello

Do not keep this partition - it contains the files of startup and recovery for Windows 7 environment, but it is normally hidden and should not appear under 'computer '.

The reason for which this partition became visible is because he received a "drive letter" (in this case, H) that you need to remove as follows.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type compmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.  Click on management of the disks in the left pane, then when the scores were loaded, right click on the Partition system for and select 'change drive letters and paths...", then click on the" delete"button to remove the drive letter, and then click Ok.

You should see is no longer this partition under computer.

Kind regards

  • What is 'System Reserved'? Why it appears as a hard drive?

    Hi people,

I have just re built my PC game, and thus, it has 5 HARD drives.

He is now showing a 6th disc, called "System Reserved" (70.3 MB free of 99.9 MB)

I checked the disk management, see it as a partition (?) on a 75 GB of HDD from my old PC, which has the Home Premium version of 7 64 bit OS installed.

My new system has 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS installed, which is the real operating system I use.

I read in an issue, which is usually reserved system a partition that contains the files needed to start.

It is not suggested that this reserved system contains the boot for my old OS files? As it is only 29.6 GB, is it big enough to be who? When I 'open in a new window' it says empty, but I think it's really impossible to access files.

I am very happy to leave it alone, but I'm curious as to why it is listed as another drive?

Also, if it's start-up files, and I chose for formatting the rest of the drive is on, which would be he start?

    Thank you

    Phil :)

  • Is your system reserved Partition a drive C?

    Hello

    (Which happened to me)
I advise you to use a window for this xp CD. Your steps to install Windows xp but I find it easy to this because the lay out is clear and is easier to understand. And also I have tried with an CD of window Xp (Service Pack 3)
I don't know if anyone else has know how to solve this problem... but I don't

Done included formatting of your driver if I were you I'd do a Back up... you can always make a new partition called back up and save all of your stuff...

Heres how to make Partition * I do not own the video *.

    For Windows Vista and 7:
    For Windows Xp:
I've seen a lot of questions * not on this site but others * saying that they got an extra driver called a System reserved? If this is the case, many people * including me * was going to re install this than ever operating system * mainly window 7 * they had. If you did that most of the people who notice they drive Local letter had changed and probably F * my local drive letter has changed from being a C and a D * and also that system reserved Partition had never removed...
In this forum, I am showing you how to make your Local drive letter to C...
If this happened to you, it may take some time until what you discover the problem. If your installation of something, such as a game or a driver * especially printer * it would give you an error saying you need to install that either the driver you want to install on this C driver. But the thing is... that C is your reserved system driver. You can't install anything on this Partition, because to guess the name of this Partition its your thing system reserved. * I don't have any idea what it does * Heres how to solve your problem!
    Pop in your Windows CD...
    Go on your installation
    For Windows XP:
Your screen should look like this once it load programs
It doesn't have to be a partition... In this case they probably two riders, but all we need is this reserved system and drive Local...
Now, go to your system reserved... Make sure that this white bar is on...
Now, press D and delete this partition...
After you have removed it you will now need to format your Local drive * knowing you your files to be supported upward or don't need them *...
Now you must create the partition by pressing C and following the instructions on the screen
After this time you want to install Windows xp, its up to you, if it is to take the Cd and put it in the operating system you want to install...
    For Windows Vista, 7
Your screen should look like this
    Window 7
    Window Vista

    * Windows Vista and Windows 7 are the same *.
Now you have the driver (Advanced) Options
You click on system reserved Partition and click clear, you should be able to remove it, if it isn't a copy of Windows xp and what to do since they...
After that you have to do the same thing... format your main driver...
    There you go!
    Hope this has helped!

  • F:System RESERVE stole my album of David bowie!

I searched "music" see if I have to move to the music on my computer and found a few david bowie songs. When I clicked to play ' Life we March "she told me it could not be played and suggestedthere may be a missing link...

I clicked on the song to look at its properties and he said that ILO was in drive f I opened Explorer to open F: RESERVED SYSTEM but he said that there are no files... How can I replay the life on mars?

Normally, the "System Reserved" partition doesn't have a drive letter and therefore normally can't even see the "System reserved" partition in Windows Explorer, so something weird happens.

Windows 7 has a built-in feature called the "Snipping Tool" which is very useful in the diagnosis of problems when you use an online forum.

    1. Right-click on the link to life on Mars, and then select Properties.
    2. Click on the ORB start, type "snipping tool" (without the quotes) in the search box, and then press ENTER.
    3. The screen darkens with the exception of a small window of the capture tool.
    4. Click your mouse on a corner of the screen properties for life on Mars and the mouse button, drag the mouse to the diagonally opposite corner and release the button of the mouse.
    5. Save the resulting "snip" to a location and a name that you will remember.
    6. Click on the start ORB and type "diskmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) in the search box and press ENTER.
    7. If necessary, click a corner of the disk management window and drag to enlarge the window so that everything is visible.
    8. Repeat steps 2 to 5 to save an image of the disk management window screen
    9. In your response here, click the "Insert Image" ((deuxieme on the right) in the toolbar of the window to answer, click "Browse" and search for one of your saved images, click Open and then click on the "Upload" button
    10. Repeat step 9 for the second image.

  • system reserved partition

I'll install win8 on an SSD, but it is necessary to create a system partition reserved on my SSD win8 installing?

    Help, please

    Hello

Please report the number of HP for your PC product so that members of the community can better help you with your questions and your questions.

Windows 8 will automatically create the partitions required according to the format of hard drive and if the PC is in UEFI etc.

    I have four images bootable (W7s - 2 and 2 - W8s) on one hard drive and I don't have a system reserve partition.

Use a higher than 160 GB SSD and the HP recovery discs should work.

Both HP and Microsoft indicate my laptop was ready for the upgrade to Windows 10, but when I tried to do the upgrade there not - several times - with the error message of Microsoft that "we could not update the system reserved partition."

    What should do?

Other threads of error indicate the system reserved partition must be larger.  This partition is usually small.  Try making at least 400 MB instead of the 100 MB to 250 MB it is probably now.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC: windows 10 could ' t update the system reserved partition

Installation Windows 10 leads following on the Windows Update screen:

Windows 10 could not be installed

We could not update the system reserved partition.

    What now?

    It worked despite me:

Don't enter the right amount of space between "/" s, skipped the part attrib by accident, and when I couldn't find the file Explorer options moved the command chkdsk.  As it was for Windows 7 to 8 figurative later may not be necessary.

Installation failed with code C1900101 (if the memory.)  Seen people on other boards with driver issues, I have disconnected my external monitor and was able to install.

    All right, so thanks.

  • Why is my system reserved showing 6 percent fragmented?

Why is my system reserved showing 6 percent fragmented? And I cannot degrag it, when I try to defragment it it will start then stop without saying anything. It will hurt anythingmand how do I defragment? Thank you...

Sounds like your drive has been prepared with a Windows 7 installation disc or you've got a computer with Windows 7 installed and that you have decided to remove Windows 7 and install Windows XP.  In any case, don't bother with defragment the system reserved partition, just leave only the partition.

  • Remove the old hard drive's "system Reserved" partition

I installed a new Seagate 1 TB hard drive and a new operating system Windows 7 Home Premium 32 - bit on my HP Pavilion a6500f PC.  I kept the old Seagate 500 GB disk, put it in an envelope and formatted to use as a unit of storage for backup of my drive.  However, when I open 'Computer' after having turned on the envelope I have 2 drives listed instead of one.  It says a (J) is the system reserved partition and the other (K) is the drive.  I put a picture to show what I mean.

As you can see in the middle there are two partitions for the main drive (C), and the bottom shows the drive J and K.  What I want to know is how to get rid of this drive J so that all I have is the K left.

    Help will be greatly appreciated!

Personally, I would use free mini tool to format the drive externally

Of course you have formatted the other not the entire disk partition

Reason to use the mini tool is that it is more user-friendly :)

But you can drive system 6 reserved a right click and select Delete volume

  • Can I delete the 100MB system reserved partition

Is it possible to install windows 7 (clean install) without making an extra (hidden) "system reserved" partition of 100 MB?
or how to remove this partition after installing?
    Why is it for?
I have the sense that it slows down a bit my hard drive?

    Thank you

    Hi Johan G,.

Thanks for posting to get ready for Windows 7.

The 100 MB partition is a partition system and contains the boot files. Disk Manager does not allow you to delete this partition because they remove this partition could force the system to no boot.

Thanks for posting your question to prepare for the community group Winodws 7.

  • Windows system reserved (j) poster and additional partitions PQService (k)

My E-machine with Windows 7 top computer.  I've had it for years.  A few years ago system reserved (J :) and PQService (K :) started to appear.  I have an Acer monitor, I bought after the purchase of the computer.  I don't think that this J and K were there initially.  I think they came close a year or two ago.  Do I need this on my computer?  What are they for?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

The 100 MB partition is a partition system and contains the boot files. Disk Manager does not allow you to delete this partition because they remove this partition could force the system to no boot.

So, please do not try to remove or delete the "System Reserved" partition.

For reference, see suggestions of Debbie - Support Engineer replied on June 11, 2009.

PQservice's hidden partition that allows you to restore the system out of the box state.

For reference, see suggestions of SpiritX MS MVP responded on February 20, 2012.

Then I suggest that you keep the two partitions.

  • Windows 10 we could not update the system reserved partition

I have windows 7 Home Edition premium, no idea why it says windows 10 we could not update the partition system reserved when I try and update?

    • Make sure you have enough disk space.
    • Although the recommended minimum requirements are 16 GB (32-bit), 20 GB (64-bit), if you upgrade from a previous version of Windows or a previous version, you will need to have at least 40-50 GB of free space to accommodate the installation files.
    • First run Disk Clean up.
    • Archive files rarely used to an external hard drive.
    • Consider data synchronization to OneDrive or similar online service and do a custom installation.
    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • Do a clean boot, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both and try the installation again.
    • If you update via Windows Update, when download reaches 100%, disconnect the Internet LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, and proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (e.g., USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripheral non-essential).

Base partition to reduce the partition of Windows 7 front enough so to "Extend" the 350 MB system partition by using the unallocated space created by reducing the Windows partition.

    http://www.partition-tool.com/

Note: Do not exceed 350 MB as a larger partition and can cause other problems especially after that it exceeds about 375 MB.
