  you forgot to try just clicking (left mouse button) and hold a bit.

  I think that's what most users with little computer experience first tries, but you are too advanced.

  Edit: it will show faster if you click and drag (left mouse button). And don't forget that you can tear the submenus by moving the mouse to the tear-off bar on the right side of the submenus

  ALT + T you should get there. Options is under Tools on the menu bar. Pressing alt makes the menu bar appear if not already displayed.

Not even for the menu, but remove them completely for the big bin of unused features to the left of the mode menu customize.
