It must be simple, right? Missing files in Lightroom 3...

I use a LaCie external drive to keep all my photos on. I keep hanging on my PC 24/7 via the usb port. Now... when I plug another drive (USB key, kendal, etc.) through one of my other usb ports my files in Lightroom are moved to that drive and have a (?) by them. Why they keep moving when I plug my LaCie hard drive to other readers ' em in. I re - import the files and any change that has been made has been lost. Sorry if this is posted in the right place, I'm new here and it's making me nervous. It's I have to ' be a simple solution that I am more looking. What the devil I'm doing wrong? See the image included.

Jason,

Unless you pin your LaCie for a specific drive letter, as I explained above, the drive letter changes each time you connect another device to drive.

When you have imported your photos, the LaCie was the J: drive.

Then you re-imported with the LaCie drive i: when pictures came missing. Of course these newly imported images have none of the changes made to those originally imported.

Here's how to fix it:

-Remove all the images that have been newly imported from Lightroom, but not from disk.

-Go to disk management and assign your LaCie drive W: letter. Assign the player a name. Who will do the sticky drive letter. If you do not like W, choose I or J or what you want.

-Now in lightroom, for each of the top-level folders in the folders Panel with an exclamation mark, right-click, choose find missing folder... and navigate to this folder on the LaCie:. It reconnects the images to Lightroom, and they have all their changes.

    I tried uninstall/reinstall version 5.5 and 5.7

It is only happing with some files

    I tried new catalog

When I reimport them it obscures the file as a duplicate until I say to allow duplicates.

Lightroom displays files in the files of the Archive, I think that is the question.

I think I got it, it was not well documented feature.

When you import, you are given the option to create another copy of the raw as a backup file.

I recently did the update online to 5.7 and it did an uninstall of 5.5 then installed 5.7 instead of simply adds the updated files.

During this time he must have updated the catalogue with the backup/archive folder. Once it did I saw is no longer my CR2 file where they should have been.

To resolve this case fully, I have to move the Archives to a location outside of the images folder and re-import the missing files.

Sync did not work for me... I suggest all to ensure your backup/archiving is not in the pictures folder.

  • Missing files in Lightroom 5, files appear in 'Missing photos.

I have total 27 000 photos, and 5500 of them are listed under "Missing photographs." If their records are listed in everything, there is none? to indicate that LR is not records.

I know how to reconnect missing photos by clicking on the! and asking LR also find nearby photos.  But it does not work with the exception of the single selected photo, no other photos are located even if they are in the same folder on the hard disk.  I can do this for each of the 5500 photos separately, but it will take about 24 hours.  I'm looking for another way.  To be clear, the corresponding files are not listed in LR or are listed without one? and contain only a fraction of the photos in the folder source hard disk.

I suspect that the reason why 'Find nearby photos' does not work is the catalog think they are in a different folder of the photo of the target.  For example, the figure shows a sequence of three adjacent "Missing pictures" in LR.  DSC08178 photo is actually in the "Viking cruise" folder on the hard disk while it is indicated as being in the 'cruise Baltic.  The pictures on each side of it are correctly displayed as being in the "Viking cruise" folder because I already spotted by clicking on the!, then their location on the hard disk WITH 'FIND the PHOTOS' NEARBY SELECTED.  Funny, these "found photos" still appear as "missing images" even if they now appear in the LR library under the folder "Viking cruise".

In past discussions in the research, I find a common suggestion when the catalog was confusing to delete the preferences file.  I have not tried because I doubt that it will work.  I keep my photos and catalog on an external HD which I move from desktop to laptop computer, depends on the question of whether I'm at home or on a trip.  Of course, these two machines (both are Macs) is located in the preferences file, but the same problem occurs on each machine. It is difficult to imagine that the two would be has been corrupted at the same time and in the same way.  I think that it is a corruption of the catalog file itself.

If this is true, I have a possible solution.  If someone has a better idea or think that my fixed does not work, please tell me.  But it's my idea:

Applications to problems are several years so that the problem is as far as I KNOW recent old.  I have files of backup catalog dating back to a few months.  They have all these old photos changes.  So if I can find one of these catalog uncorrupted files, I will be removed all files EXCEPT the problem files.  Then I ONLY deletes records of problem of the current catalog.  Finally, I combine two catalogs.

Will this work?  Are there unforeseen problems (by me)?  Is there an another, perhaps better, difficulty?

Can't you just click right on line 'Missing Photos' under 'Catalogue', and select Remove from this temporary Collection?

Another simple solution is to simply ignore it.

  • Missing files in Lightroom 3.4.1 help!

I worked in Lightroom 3.4.1 (Vista OS) with my photos of football and had to leave my computer.  My 13 year old daughter came with a friend, and while my Lightroom is still open in the library, she put my Lightroom down into the system tray, proceeded to try to load a game DVD, found that she could not, logged out of my user (while Lightroom is always open you mind), connected on his , I tried the DVD again, found it still load, disconnected from its user and returned to mine and then shortly after left my computer after the computer shuts down.  I went back to the computer, open my Lightroom and had almost all of the pictures show the small strip of film and question mark in the upper right corner, indicating that the original file is missing or inaccessible.  I was working just on them before that and they were very good.  Unfortunately, I don't have copies of my original files from my CF cards up to what I have edited them, then I send them to an external hard drive.  Subsequently, my changes in procedure.  But, for now, no one knows what happened and how I can get these images to be editable again?  No, I don't have the original files.  When I import my pictures from CF cards, I then re - use CF cards so I don't have to buy hundreds of them.  I never thought that my daughter would be my downfall for the latter.  Ugh!  Cannot modify an any of them in the module development of all... all this work... disappeared!  I can see my changes and all the photos, but can't do a thing with them!  Well, hard lesson learned.  Can someone give me any assistance would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you so much!

My guess would be, logging market and/or using DVD player assigned to the letters of different drive to your external drives. As suggested by Lee Jay, the photos should be somewhere on your PC - use Windows search to go through your entire computer.

If the pictures had been on the map memory (which I understand you had already removed from your PC previously), there is no way you could have done any development work on them, since the LR develop module requires the original photo files to work on.

  • Missing files in Lightroom. Accidentally deleted.

I need to access some of the photos that I just changed in Lightroom. I don't know what happened. I needed more space on my computer, so I deleted the files that were not in Lightroom. (They were also still in my IPhoto) Now, I have the (!) because I can still see the image, why can I not use it?  I read that if it is not yet on my computer, Lightroom can't access.  I get that, but why can't I access it in IPhoto, it shows up also there, but when I try to get out of IPhoto it says also it is absent.  It's so frustrating!

    Try to export from iPhoto.

    File > Export

Export under the file tab, click the drop-down list type, and then choose Original.

Save copy and put it back in the folder pointing to Lightroom.

  • How do I get missing files from my office to my Lightroom 5 catalog?

Here's the problem: I have some files I know are on my desk. When I click "Import", LR takes me to the screen, or the next layer where I see the files in their hard drives. I click on the hard drive which has my 'stuff '. I see the file for my Photos with Lightroom. I click on it. When I go down to where the records that are "missing" on the catalog on the library page, I see them. If I go where I want to import to (on the right panel), they are there.

I just don't see them in records, under the section the library catalogue.

How can I get the files that are not listed on the library to the library?

It is very difficult to explain without a person being able to see what I see.

    Thank you

Maybe I misunderstood... my mistake. However, in the future please do not use the word 'file' when you really want to say 'folder '.

You claim that these folders appear in the import section, but not in the main page of the library (I presume in the hand side left panel records). Is this correct?

This means that you must import photos into these files in Lightroom and then folders will show up in the library panel folders module.

  • How to remove missing files that have been deleted.

I have a number of missing files in Lightroom. They no longer exist on the disk! The only way I found to get to these files is via a smart collection. What tests for metadata are not not to date. Because the files aren't there metadata cannot be undated. As I can't delete the smart collection Lightroom database files. I was not able to find a way to access the folder Lightroom files except through the above mentioned smart collection.

So, how to remove the record from Lightroom.

PS rather surprised that there is not a way to put in place a collection of smart to display all files that are missing!

Select the photos in the smart collection with the icon question mark missing. Use Cmd-click or shift-click the first and last if they are all in a straight block. Then, click the top left on the catalog tab and select all photographs. Band information (over the film), confirm that you are in all the photos and the number of photos you have selected, and then use the menu:

This is a known bug 'Dumb MS' and very simple to fix. It is simply that the installer wants to put a bit of a music (the standard windows sound) file in a particular place, and the directory does not exist on some copies of OEM Windows XP home.

You just need to create the folder he wants before rerunning the SP3 update. Not at the moment, I can't find a link to the exact thing, but if these directories do not exist, create them. You must be logged on as administrator user to do this.

The file beethoven.wma wants to be in the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Music".
    OR maybe "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\Sample sounds\" on XP-Home Edition

However, the "All Users" directory down may be missing or not have NO defined permissions.
To fix it, right-click on "All Users" and click the option 'security '.

    Click on the security"" tab.

    Click on "Add..." »

    Click on 'Advanced... '. »

  • The missing files can be imported and show as dupes.  Claims to have their ghost directory, but is not found in the catalog or HD

I have 191 files in a known folder to HD.  The catalogue of the room light them says that all of the missing.  If I try to copy as DNG with him do not import checked suspicious files, all gray outside.

However, if him don't import suspected fooled no box is unchecked, they will import .

Except: they will not go to my destination, i.e. the same folder in which the resident on the disk hard, 2014_09_06, but a subdirectory of the folder of my choice, also called 2014_09_06, with a check mark next to it indicating 191 files. If I leave this box checked, I can import.  If I uncheck everything seems to be a fool, even if her import alleged fooled no box is unchecked.

Nowhere in the catalog or the hard drive is this ghost subdirectory is located. Don't forget: When checked, he seems to have 191 files it contains, but I must be on file parent to see this. And even by showing that it has the right number of files he let me import, which can create real and fooled fool's dupes.  When disabled the file, it seems to have no file but my ability to import is blocked. None of these conditions relate to her don't import suspected dupes, who is not checked under both sets of circumstances.

The final clues: the subfolder icon import has a plus sign on this subject, and I can't click on this folder on the import screen, only in the folder parent of the same name.  In the library of little, this subdirectory, I can click on the parent, I see 191 files, but they all have an exclamation point indicating that they are absent.

See my other post about the missing files. Once they are, we can work on the importation of treatment to get your fixed catalog.

  • missing files

    Question:
I use and use for years, Thunderbird as my e-mail program. My email comes through my University, who uses the Exchange e-mail. In the left field of Thunderbird seems so the Exchange folder and subfolders - Inbox, drafts, sent, trash - as well as a number of files I had created. All of a sudden almost all folders that I created missing in Thunderbird, although they remain in Exchange. How to bring back those files. This problem occurred on my two machines. Both machines are running Ubuntu, a 12.04 LTS and LTS other 14.04. I'm using version 31 of Thunderbird.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. WARNING: I am a complete neophyte to these things.

I guess your description, and the lack of support in Thunderbird for owners of the exchange protocols, that you've been using IMAP to allow Thunderbird to 'see' the server-side e-mail folders.

Check subscriptions in Thunderbird (right click on a folder and select new query) to ensure that missing files are always selected and subscribed.

From my experience, when Thunderbird updates, some settings may be lost and then can return to the default values. It can have 'forgotten' these files.

Options Edit | Account settings | < select account > | Synchronization and storage can also be useful for you.

If the suggestion in the link fails to solve the problem after a copy of the error report in the event viewer.

    Event Viewer reports

    1. normally, when an error occurs on your computer looking in Event Viewer should be your starting point to find a solution. More related system errors are recorded and get an exact copy of the relevant report is important. Unfortunately, is not easy to understand reports and most of the users computer need help with their interpretation. I have to say later interpretation.

2 Event Viewer includes three main newspapers of Windows. Here's the Application, security, and system. For purposes of troubleshooting system is by far the most important.

    3. to access the system log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window select Windows and the system logs. Place the cursor on the system, right click and select filter current log. Check the front of the error and click OK and see you only reports errors. Click the Date and time column header to sort. You may need to click a second time to see the last report above.

    4. a tip for posting copies of error reports! Run Event Viewer and double-click the error you want to copy. Select the Details tab and check the box in front of the XML view. Click the copy button to place a copy in the Clipboard and close Event Viewer. Now start your message and paste it into the body of the message. Make sure that it is the first dough right out of the event viewer.

    5. He cautioned against three types of reports, information, and reports errors. In most situations, it is the error reports that offer the best information but sometimes WARNING reports provide useful clues.

    6. all reports have stamps date and hour and when troubleshooting, it is important to focus on the latest reports. Reports of studies from the point when the computer is started, and then check if a similar report appeared in the previous session. If errors do not repeat investigation as to why they happen is wasted effort.

    7. in the individual reports the most important information is the event ID and Source such as these help when looking for help on the internet. The description is just as important and copy the exact text to use as search criteria greatly helps achieve better results when using Google. • run missing files rundll32.exe missing. Unable to open many programs

Infection Trojan horse on Sunday, McAfee detected and removed on Monday.  run missing files missing rundll32.exe can't open most of the programs without having to 'open with' quick screen.  Have tried the solutions to similar problems, without success.  Cannot use the restore system or clickfree. AM running xp service pack 3, any suggestions?

    He hides on your part.

The dllcache folder is a hidden system folder (normally).

The dllcache folder is where XP keeps copies of important system files.  Windows file protection monitors these files when your system is working and if it happen never disappeared, PAM quickly and quietly replace it using the copy in the dllcache folder - this is why you put the rundll32.exe file in both places...  One in the dllcache folder is the backup.

If you want to use Windows search, you need to go to the Advanced Options section and select the search system folders and enable folders and files hidden research.

If you use Solution Explorer, while you're looking in the c:\windows\system32 folder, you must:

    Click on tools
Click on the folder view tab Options
Enable: Display the hidden files and folders
Disable (uncheck): Hide extensions of known file types
Disable (uncheck): Hide protected operating system files

Then, you'll be able to find and navigate in the dllcache folder.

When you are finished, you can set your options to view back the way they were then you don't have an accident one day in one of these folders.

  • RealPlayer does not open due to missing file MSVCP90.dll

I try to open realplayer and every time I get the same error message: Realplayer does not open due to missing file MSVCP90.dll. I tried to uninstall and reinstall a clean version and it's the same result every time! What I am doing wrong? How can I solve this problem? I have a laptop HP 1030NR which uses xp edition sp3 family. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

The problem is that RealPlayer needs pieces of Visual Studio/Visual C++ libraries and that is not finding them on your system.  You do not have to install all this junk - just distribution (like MSVCP90.dll) files.

You can look in Add/Remove programs and see what Microsoft Visual C++ redistributes you have installed right now (you can have none).  I installed them in 2005.  You may have none or more installed.

I would like to download the latest Package Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable and install it from here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=5555

Reboot and see if RealPlayer is happy now.

  • How to restore missing files/folders in XP?

He has a record of missing files in Windows. I have the name of the file, it would be necessary to get help. Start a message which says fatal error Reg Open Key E.g. After closing this area that another pops up that says failed to load. I know this file folders to be restored. I need to know how to do this.

    It's a little different.

$NtUninstallKB936357-v2$ looks like a legitimate file.  At least the name is that of an uninstall file for a Windows update that applies only to some Intel microprocessors.  It does not seem likely that this error is indicative of something very wrong.

Please identify your computer's processor.  If you are unsure, do a right-click on desktop and select Properties.  Your CPU is displayed at the bottom of the general tab.

What a pity that you spent part of your fund limited on Tune Up Utilities 2011, because I think that the use of some of its tools - particularly its "cleaner" register - could be responsible for the error you see.

If you provide the full error message, including everything that appears in the title bar of the window shows the error message you will probably be able to solve this problem quite easily.

FYI, you don't need WinRAR to be able to use the Autoruns.  You should be able to open zip files with the native Windows XP interface if you right-click and select "Extract all."  If you click on 'Execute Autoexec now from Live.Sysinternals.com' you can download the unzipped exe file or run it under tension (if you use Internet Explorer; Firefox won't let you turn it this way).
