"When the 'beethov9.wma error' rises (about 1 1 / 4 h. in the update),
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All

the sharing tab check the box "allow network users to change my files '.
You don't have to be logged on as administrator. Retry the copy. That's it - I

This is a known bug 'Dumb MS' and very simple to fix. It is simply that the installer wants to put a bit of a music (the standard windows sound) file in a particular place, and the directory does not exist on some copies of OEM Windows XP home.

You just need to create the folder he wants before rerunning the SP3 update. Not at the moment, I can't find a link to the exact thing, but if these directories do not exist, create them. You must be logged on as administrator user to do this.

The file beethoven.wma wants to be in the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Music".
OR maybe "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\Sample sounds\" on XP-Home Edition

However, the "All Users" directory down may be missing or not have NO defined permissions.
To fix it, right-click on "All Users" and click the option 'security '.

Click on the security"" tab.

Click on "Add..." »

Click on 'Advanced... '. »

Click on "search".

In the list below, to select multiple click (Ctrl-click) to select:

Administrator
Directors
"Your username".
Click ok all the way out and try again.

Is anyone else having problems installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1?   He moved after about an hour, then restart starts to day and poster, "Service Pack Update Failed, return to the previous" or something like that.  The journal indicates successful installation, and then restart failed.   I tried to disable my AntiVirus from Symantec, and I tried the standard method of update via the Updater from Microsoft and completely download the update separately.   Probably lost 6 hours because of the time spent waiting for the update at the end and then restart/back back.

I have the latest VMware Fusion (for Mac) installed and had installed all available updates prior to this service pack as well as IE9 on a MacBook Pro with the latest MacOS.

At this point, I loaded a previous snapshot before the update and have not tried to install it again by masking the automatically downloaded update.

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will not install. -It says "cannot install, change recovery."

I recently installed windows Vista Home Basic on a hard nine. I want to install sp1, but after long hours of reboot and installation, step 3 of 3, it says "cannot install, restoration of the changes." subsequently, an error message appears indicating that an .exe file (it started with MNT) is corrupted. I was able to remedy this through the command prompt (chkdsk) but I want to know how to install sp1. I ran an sfc scan result were he finds files corrupt, but he couldn't fix it. I then ran the option upgrade from vista startup disk and sfc shows that there are corrupted files. The newspaper did not show all corrupted files sfc was not able to solve. I ran sp1 install from both standalone and windows update. I chose the option the first time and the second time, I shut down the computer and booted from safe mode.

  • Vista Service Pack 1 is NOT installed

So, I wanted to upgrade to Windows 7. Unfortunately my installer for 7 told me that I had to first install Service Pack 1. Large. I know I don't have because it does not appear on my list of Windows Edition. I try to get it from Windows Update, but when I search for updates, it shoots only other stuff (e.g. Office Genuine Advantage Notification KB949810), but the service pack does. I checked my update history and apparently this Service Pack 1 could not install and I received the error code 80080008.

So I download the thing directly from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=139503, and when it finished downloading it disappears. Then I saved it on my desktop and when I click on it nothing happens. Can someone help me?

Slurgly wrote: This would have to do with a question I had on several occasions with the installation of .NET framework 1.1 Service pack and the .NET framework through update 3.5 service pack?

Yes, it's a possibility. These updates of .NET Framework are among a myriad of SP1 updates, like, for example, KB955430 & KB947821.

But I'm more concerned about one or two other things:

    1. the error 80080008 is very rarely seen and suggests that an infection in progress hijackware is at the origin of the problem.

2 Vista SP1 is available through Windows Update (for most users) since March 18, 2008 (SP2 since March 2009). It is very unusual that SP1 has not yet install on your computer again.

How long Avast4 has been installed? What antivirus application was installed before you installed Avast and your subscription always news when you have uninstalled it in preparation for the installation of Avast?

A Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

The foregoing, your best bet at this point may be to back up your personal data, format the HARD drive and do a clean install of Vista to get it then patched up to SP1 before you perform the upgrade to Win7.

I doubted much that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) would solve the problem. Speaking of which, have you ever done a repair for some reason installation any?

PS: Free support for installation of SP1 problems has been available since March 18, 2008 through June 30, 2009. This support would cost you $59 USD per incident (or more) now.

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465) not __will not install - constant judgment of Internet Explorer

I couldn't after several attempts to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465).  I finished all of the instructions that will appear on the screen to fix this problem and nothing works.  I'm not a PC geek and want just to get this update loaded.  I hope that this will solve the constant stop my IE WHENEVER I use it.  I'm at a point where I want to just remove Vista and go back to XP.  I NEVER had a problem with it.

Please contact something that can do a non-techie.  I look at all these forums, but I don't really know how to do all this.  So, unless there are instructions step by step, I'm a lost soul.

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself.

[You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. If a step said to reboot, reboot.]

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

1B. download the tool McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step # 1 above and select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    5. right-click on the file that you saved in step # 1 b above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then reboot again.

    6. do a clean install of Norton Internet Security 2011 (using your product ID, if need be) & reboot. CF. http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

NOTE: Do NOT activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate (Norton) until you get a prompt "no update more".

  • For Windows Vista, Service Pack 1 will not completely install.

On Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 - bit system, trying to update Explorer 7, that no longer works, to Explorer 9, which requires SP1 (KB936330) and SP2 as required components.  I use Windows Update method, Guard sent me with Service Pack 1 (KB936330) to update.  However, I do, and then he said it will take about an hour and do not use my computer.  I do this but in a few minutes 'complete' and said "completed successfully."  I have now more than a finished SP1 (KB936330) entry on my page in the history of the update, BUT does not appear under installed updates, so it seems that's not install completely.  Why?  How should I fill this out so I can go on installing SP2, then Explorer 9?

  • Vista Service Pack 2 will not install on my Vista.

Since the Service Pack was released I tried to install it. And each time, repeatedly, he'll prepare my computer, tell me to restart, it will do the "install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 1/3 0% Complete" thing when I restart and right at the end where it says "3/3 100% complete" it will stop for about a minute, then say "Service Pack was not installed. Returning change"and it'll take about half an hour at a time to undo everything he does simply, without any reason. I don't know what is happening, and it's the most frustrating thing because it won't go away, and I do not understand how to fix it. Could someone help me with what to do please?

  • Windows vista service pack 2 (KB948465) cannot install

OK my computer went more slowly in a couple of weeks to the point where it would crash a lot. So what I did to restore the computer to do it how I bought it. I guess I did the settings are correct and it became much faster, but I realized, he became also double as slow as before.

so I tried to install all updates but they keep on do not install. so now im trying to install the windows vista service pack 2 but when im trying to install the stand alone I download it says I have to install windows vista SP1.

I cheked the computer system and he said he already has SP1.

but I keep trying to install SP2 and it keeps showing that I have to install SP1. so I downloaded the SP1 and tried to install it but says that its already installed.

My next step was to remove the update of the system and so I did. then I restart the computer but he repeated that SP1 is installed, then I tried SP2 and continues to show that SP1 is missing.

If it's like a game of back and now I don't know what can do to fix my computer. Its really very slow. I can't watch my movies or just use the internet cuz I have to wait that the computer crashes, I can't even open two windows or it will crash.

so first of all, I want to install SP2 and see if anything changes.

help please, I don't really no what to do, and as you can see I don't know much on a computer, but I guess enough just to follow the directions to fix. Thank you.

  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 are not

I have a HP p6680t PC running WIndows 7 Home Preimum 64 bit. Until now Windows 7 Service Pack 1 in windows unlisted in update for me to download.  In this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2498452 , he mentions an Intel Graphics Driver (64-bit), versions 8.15.10.2104 to 8.15.10.2141 Igdkmd64.sys as being a problem when you try to download updated KB2454826.  Check my system, I think my version IS one of those that they stop talking.  The mine is the 8.15.10.2119 version BUT as I said KB2454826 IS in fact installed on my laundry, but also the alsomentioned KB976902 in the article.

I checked the HP website for my model and it does not appear the driver has been updated, it only shows the original version I have.  On the Intel site that I ran the tool to detect the graphics drivers I had installed and he says that it was made by HP and to communicate with them.  I do not know if this driver is the casue since I have already installed KB2454826.  Can anyone shed some light on this.

Just a quick update that I could finally try the fix listed in sevenforums, step by step instructions are on the post #33
