JO 4500, model 510g sharing printers

Our JO 4500, model 510g is now connected to a Vista PC via a USB connection.

I have a wireless router which I connect this PC and 2 laptops to a DSL modem.  The 510g that printer can be connected via USB or LAN.  A laptop is running Windows 7, the other XP Pro.

JO 4500, 510g model can be connected via USB or LAN by HP features.

Is it possible to allow the PC & computers portable access to the printer to the printer connected to the router with a LAN cable.  Should I uninstall & reinstall the printer on the PC & then install it on two laptops to achieve?

Thank you

Andrew Love

Thank you & a Kudo. Will try tonight & mark it as a solution if I succeeded.

  • Sharing printers has stopped working for me. MacBook Air "think" printer is not connected.

Sharing printers has stopped working for me. I have an Epson Stylus Photo R340 connected by USB to my Mac Mini end of 2012, and until recently, my MacBook Air has been able to print to it. Now, he 'thinks' the printer is not connected. Computers are on WiFi. Both computers have an OS X 10.11.5 now and the latest driver of Epson printer. Printer sharing is enabled in preferences, sharing, and "Share this printer on the network" is checked in the preferences, printers and Scanners. I went through the hoops to remove the printer and add it again on the Mini and the MacBook Air.

Of course, the Mini prints very well via USB. Someone has an idea (that I have not already tried) how to get the sharing of printers to work again?

Other sharing services work, such as the file and screen sharing?

  • Color LaserJetPro M177, other: sharing printers of HP network suddenly cannot be installed on the network

I don't know if this forum is the right place to post a question to the enterprise level.  But here's my problem:

I work for a public school district.  We have a number of HP laser printers installed in various laboratories and classrooms in the district.  These printers are connected to our network and are shared through our print server, PS1, which runs Windows Server R2 2012.  Until very recently, we have had no problem installing, sharing, and use of these printers in this method.  I mean, basically, use us management of printing on PS1 to create a TCP/IP port, then install the HP drivers for the printer you want, and then create the shared printer.  It is relatively simple.

However, at some point during 3-4 months, things stopped working.  We can always install printers HP on PS1 as before, namely, but on a client PC (Win7 Pro x 64), when we sail to PS1 and doubleclick, the driver printer to install it, we get a message that says:

"A policy is in effect on your computer that prevents you to connect to this queue.  Please contact your system administrator. »

This would seem to indicate a problem within group policy.  But the thing is, we had not brought no change in the strategy of group before the encounter this problem.  (We made some changes after seeing this error, to try to fix it, but nothing works).

This problem seems to affect all THE HP printers that do not use the universal print driver.  We discovered that, for some reason, the UPD to PCL6, printing, v5.7.0, works fine.  However, not all HP printers are compatible with this driver.   For printers,'re missing us a workaround solution.  We have not had this problem with other printers shared through our print server - such as our brand printer Sharp 30/copiers or printers Brother 15 or more.  Those that all continue to work properly.

It may be only 64 customers who are affected.  However, as computing has changed strongly in the paradigm of 64-bit, we have a few 32-bit workstations left on our network with which we can test.  And anyway, it wouldn't matter if it DOES not work on 32-bit clients, because all computer is now firmly 64-bit.  We need these drivers to work under a 64-bit paradigm.

Of course, I checked to make sure that I am downloading the drivers of HP.  Where a printer is not compatible with the universal print driver, I have download Win7 x 64 driver.  Of course I don't want the full installer, so I try to download a barebones driver, if available.  If it is not checked out, I extract it using 7zip.  I then copy them to a directory "drivers" on the print server.  Then I open the server print management, create my port if it does not already exist and then do a right-click drivers and choose "install".  When you are prompted to select a driver to install, I choose "Disk" and navigate to the directory where the driver exists.  After the installation of the driver, I have printers right click and choose "Add a printer", and then I select the driver that I just installed when prompted.

I then go to a client computer, go to \\PS1 (the server) and select the name of the printer that I want to install in the list of all the printers on PS1.  It is when I get the error described above.  I get this error, regardless of the level of permissions that has my account.  I get when I log using my District business administrator credentials.

In the event logs on the client machine (Microsoft/Windows/PrintService/Admin), I get the following message after one of these attempts to pilot install:

    Description:

The print spooler could not import the printer driver that has been downloaded from \\ps1\print$\x64\PCC\ntprint.inf_amd64_a7ac65d1b7714fb1.cab in the driver store for the driver HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177 PCLmS. code error = 800f024b. This can happen if there is a problem with the driver or the digital signature of the driver.

The printer that generated this message was a Color LaserJet Pro M177, but we have lived this message with any other HP printer models, including the LaserJet P3015.

What is more revealing, in Journal of the client PC to install (c:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log), any attempt to install one of these 'broken' HP drivers generates the following output:

    From c:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log:

Impossible to check the file 'UNIRES. DLL' against the catalog. Catalog = ntprint.cat, error = 0xE000024B

!!!  Sto: catalogue contained no hash of the file. File is probably damaged or a victim of manipulation.

!!!  Sto: Driver package appears to be falsified. Filename = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\Temp\{61572abe-df8e-19bb-2d9b-d057c6484c6d}\ntprint.inf, error is 0x800F024B

!!!  Sto: Driver package seems to be corrupted, and it will not be installed.

    Sto: {stage Driver Package: exit (0xe000024b)} 10:57:24.124

It's the only omission or error that appears in the setupapi.dev.log, then it would be to think that it is the real culprit - Windows does not allow the installation of the driver, because it cannot verify the digital signature of the UNIRES. DLL, which rained investigatoin reveals himself as one files contained in hpcm177_64.cab.

So.  HP.  Does this mean that you ship pilots who incorrectly signed?  Or maybe you adjust Unires.dll in these pilots AFTER their signature?  Or is it possible that the problem is a kind of problem of configuration on our side?  Or is this question is beyond the scope of this forum of HP?  If this is the case, please direct me to where I could ask this question to a more receptive ear?

I think I found the root cause of the problem.  Ran across this post by Doug_Wright also on the HP forums:
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/LaserJet-printing/solved-A-policy-is-in-effect-on-your-computer-which-prevents/m-p/5721939/highlight/true#M291619

He said he received the same exact message we get when trying to install a printer on the network: "a policy is in effect on your computer that prevents you to connect to this queue."

He said: "turns out be an update of KB3170455print spooler security.»  Uninstall this update fixed the issue. »

I have tested this fix on my network, and it has indeed solved the problem.  After removing KB3170455 from a post test and restart, we once more able to install this worsktation HP network printers without receiving the message 'political prevents you to connect.

However, some additional tests will be needed, as corrected by KB3170455 vulnerabilities are certainly valid - and my network is a public school district, it is certainly still 'at risk' for attacks of students wishing to test their abilities of "piracy".  But even still, it's good to finally know what really is the cause of this problem.  Before, I was grabbing at straws.

I need to know if there is software for the MAC computer.  Just bought the MAC and this is my first one so really unaware of things like that.  If someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it, of course!

    Thank you very much!

    Hi @CatLady5,

According to the document following the Officejet 4500 G510 is compatible with Mac 10.11, but there is no comprehensive software features and driver: Printers HP - OS X v10.11 v10.10 compatible printers.

I think that you will also find the FAQ section in the document above useful. There are useful links to help you install and use the printer with Mac 10.11. Here's an overview of what you'll find:

Install print driver Mac and the best available software using Apple Software Update.

Go to the installation of a printer driver Mac using Apple software update. This method of download includes the HP printer driver. Function of your printer, the download may also include the HP scanner software utility or driver fax HP.

What happens to my print driver, when I switch to El Capitan and Yosemite?

If you had the full features printing software installed on your Mac with the Mavericks, so everything should work the same as it did before you upgrade to El Capitan and Yosemite.

If you went to El Capitan and Yosemite for an operating system prior to the Mavericks, and there is not a complete driver of features available to El Capitan and Yosemite, how you print remains the same, but you may have to analyze in a different way. For more information on scanning without full functionality driver, go to How to scan without software HP in OS X v10.11 El Capitan and OS X v10.10 Yosemite.

What happens if my printer does not work as expected after the upgrade to El Capitan and Yosemite?

If your printer is affected by print, connection, or scanning problems or an error message is displayed after the upgrade to El Capitan or Yosemite, go to HP support page, enter your printer model, then search the document on printing, connection or the analysis of issues, or for the error message that appears.

Is there a driver package or third party for my printer software?

Gutenprint (formerly Gimp-Print) provides basic print drivers open source for many printers who otherwise would not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to the Gutenprint drivers for more information.

NOTE: Gutenprint drivers don't are not supported by HP or Apple.

If it meets your needs, please click Accept button Solution below to identify your problem as solved!

    Hi Alan,

Protected by password sharing is a more secure method of sharing files and folders on a network, and it is enabled by default. With share protected by active password, people on your network cannot access shared folders and printers on other computers, including public folders, unless they have a user name and password on the computer on which the printer or files shared. They will be asked to type a user name and password to access the printer or shared folders.

I suggest you to return the item and check if it helps.

  • Problems with shared printers added manually

When I add a network printer manually shared, it becomes automatically're-shared', which causes a single printer being present in multiple instances on a single PC across the network. If I then manually turn off the're - share' on a target computer, it unfortunately also disables the original share 'host' remotely. So, I have this shared printer more than once or not at all. I would not care much, but this causes the printer becomes completely inaccessible from the network from time to time, which resolves only relocation. Automatic printer detection doesn't work reliably (strangely automatically added printers don't behave this way) and when you add a printer shared from XP to W7 machine, only manual addition works. I find this behavior strange. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

PS: I know that LDAP server could solve this problem, but this isn't an option for me right now.

If you use an operating system of server such that some versions of Windows Server, you will probably be unable to find answers here and probably will be redirected to a forum like http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/winserverprint/threads

However, if you are referring to a home network in which all computers are running some flavor of Windows 'consumer' operating systems (XP, Vista, Windows 7), then please clarify what you mean by

When I add a network printer manually

    Generally understood.

    • a 'network' is a printer that has its own IP address and is available for each computer connected to the network.
    • a 'shared' is a printer connected to a computer and then shared as a resource on this computer using, for example, Windows file and print sharing.

What is a "network shared printer?  And why would you want to "share" a printer that is already available on the network?

  • Problem with the sharing printers between WIndows & and Windows Xp

I have a laser printer HP 1150 connected by USB on my computer Windows 7 (Home Premium 64-bit). I want to share with another pc with Xp Pro (SP3), but can not find a suitable printer driver. I read the thread on the sharing of printers and led most of the steps.

My problem is that, although I can see the printer of the xp machine, it requires a driver. I had already installed the drivers from HP and the printer works fine by direct USB connection on the XP machine, but it appears that I need a driver installed on the W7 machine as well - and I can't seem to find one that works.

    Any ideas what to do?

  • Sharing printers between Win7 and XP

I'm trying to share a printer connected to my XP desktop with my laptop Win7 and having problems with the drivers.

I talked to Epson and they say that it is only possible to share printers if Win7 is the host and refuse to look at what if this isn't the game to the top.  Microsoft doesn't offer any support that you don't pay for, what is the situation?  You can share a printer XP welcomed with a Win7 machine?

If your XP system is the 32-bit version and your Windows 7 system is 64-bit, then you might have some problems unless you install a driver 64 bit on Windows 7 system.  You can do on this side of the WIndows 7 form creating a port of the form \\xpsystem\printer and 64-bit printer installation.  "xpsystem" is, of course, name of your XP system and "printer" is the part of the printer. • Windows7 home group sharing printers displays error 0 x 00000001, PC to join the Group House can not see shared printers but can see and share all files between the computers in the home group

This issue just started about 4 days after years of good impression on the computers in the homegroup.  Nothing I know came to start this problem.

Printers cannot be seen by the remote PC that needs to connect to printers via homegroup.  Printers, 2, a laser and the other color ink jet, showed both on the remote PC called but also showed "offline", I tried to find ways to put on line, but nothing could fill this function. I read a suggestion that I should remove the printer and then recharge it.  I removed the printer and is where I found that I couldn't see the printer on the network of homegroup to reload.

I rebooted the bridge and the two PCs and turned off the firewall and virus protection software and closed the Group residential and the recreated homegroup and pretty much any other start-up base and installation process you can think, and nothing gets my functional printers through the remote PC.  I even physically removed one of the printers of the main PC and deleted the software and then reconnected and recharged and have made sure I have the latest drivers and it made no difference at all.
