Journal sequence difference between Instances RAC

RDBMS Version: 11.2
Platform: Solaris 10

In our CAR database, we have 6 recovery logs.
SQL> select * from v$logfile order by 1,2;

    GROUP# STATUS  TYPE    MEMBER                                                                    IS_
---------- ------- ------- ----------------------------------------------------                      ---
         1         ONLINE  +ORCL_ARCH01/ORCL_ARCH/orcl_log01.dbf                                     NO
         2         ONLINE  +ORCL_ARCH01/ORCL_ARCH/orcl_log02.dbf                                     NO
         3         ONLINE  +ORCL_ARCH01/ORCL_ARCH/orcl_log03.dbf                                     NO
         4         ONLINE  +ORCL_ARCH01/ORCL_ARCH/orcl_log04.dbf                                     NO
         5         ONLINE  +ORCL_ARCH01/ORCL_ARCH/orcl_log05.dbf                                     NO
         6         ONLINE  +ORCL_ARCH01/ORCL_ARCH/orcl_log06.dbf                                     NO

6 rows selected.

Logically or should I say 'in house', 3 newspapers of recovery is allocated per thread. But they all belong to a database.
SQL> select group#,thread#,members from  v$log order by 1,2;

    GROUP#    THREAD#    MEMBERS
---------- ---------- ----------
         1          1          1
         2          1          1
         3          1          1
         4          2          1
         5          2          1
         6          2          1

6 rows selected.

SQL> exit;
If all of these 6 redo log files belong to a database, then why they have different max (sequence #)?
That is to say. The 'more old sequence online journal' in Node1 3432 watch and
"More old newspaper online sequence ' in watch 3188 Node2 (a difference of 244)
-- Instance1 in Node1
SQL> archive log list
Database log mode              Archive Mode
Automatic archival             Enabled
Archive destination            +ORCL_ARCH01/ORCL_ARCH
Oldest online log sequence     3432 ------------------------->
Next log sequence to archive   3434
Current log sequence           3434

-- Instance 2 in Node2
SQL> archive log list
Database log mode              Archive Mode
Automatic archival             Enabled
Archive destination            +ORCL_ARCH01/ORCL_ARCH
Oldest online log sequence     3188   ------------------------> ( 3432 - 3188 = 244)
Next log sequence to archive   3190
Current log sequence           3190

So, it means that Node1 is busier than Node2?

or maybe node2 declined for a few hours...

    Hi all

    I worked on 10g RAC for quite awhile now. I see now a 9i RAC too. I was looking on the web for a good document that can give differences between 9i RAC and 10 g RAC. I know, there is a new section of features in 10g RAC, but in my case its opposite, I have knowledge of 10g RAC, but do not know much about 9i RAC. I searched the internet but couldn't find something fruitful. I'd appreciate if anyone can share this information.

  • difference between "Instance ID" in em and 'instanceId' in the task properties

    Hello

    in the workspace bpm, I show "instanceId" tasks. I thought that this Id is the same 'ID of Instance' in enterprise manager, but they are technical.

    What is the difference and how to keep track of proceedings in em?

    also is it possible to get the instance id after a web service is called and the instance is generated?

    Hello Zi,

    Indeed, there is a difference between two identifiers, and there are a couple of identifiers when it comes to Oracle BPM projects in general.

    The larger entity is the dosage, also known as "composite service application" (sca). The composite contains business process (BPMN 2.0 - based application, where Oracle BPM Suite or application oriented BPEL, where Oracle SOA Suite) and the components of the service (such as adapters, business rules, and human tasks. Each of them has its appropriate instance ID.

    • The sca instance ID is the one that is indicated on the dashboard in enterprise manager.
    • The process instance ID can be checked in enterprise manager on tab instances of the process according to (to be selected from the dashboard below metrixs component). Usually, the process instance ID is equal to the sca + 1000 instance ID.
    • The human task instance ID can be checked in enterprise manager on tab of instances of the human task component according to (to be selected from the dashboard below metrixs component). It is also displayed in the properties of the task in the BPM workspace. Usually, the task instance ID is equal to the instance ID of the process of appeal to the task instance.
    • The instance ID of services such as adapters behaves similar to the human task instance ID.

    Please let me know if this helps + return if you have additional questions.

  • What is the difference between Oracle RAC and Oracle Clusterware?

    Hi all, it's maybe a stupid question, but I read the documentation and still do not understand what is the difference between RAC and Clusterware.
    Can someone explain it to me?

    Thanks in advance!

    ACR is part of database software Oracle database option should be the database mode cluster; See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e16508/glossary.htm#CNCPT2076.

    Clusterware is a separate required to run the Oracle database in cluster mode: you can use Oracle Clusterware without Oracle database, but you cannot use Oracle Database with the option CARS without Oracle Clusterware.

  • Difference between abandonment and proclaim

    Hi guys

    I would like to know the difference between Instances can be interrupted by the user, and instances can be suspended able to the user option. We can find this option in: right-click on the interactive activity > properties > runtime in OBPM Studio

    Thank you so much in advance.

    Abandonment of an instance using PBL could be done using this logic:

    action = ABORT

    If you are not an end-user using the workspace, I think you need to use the PAPI to suspend an instance. Here's an example of how you could do this using catalogue Fuego.Papi of the PBL. You can use this logic inside a global Interactive activity to suspend instances of work item for all "Gold" customers with amounts of command suspend more than $200.

    //Instance myInstance = BusinessProcess.getInstance(String instanceId);
    //Object instanceVarValue = myInstance.getVar("myInstanceVarName");

    ps as ProcessService
    xmlObject as Fuego.Xml.XMLObject

    do
      connectTo ps
          using url = Fuego.Server.directoryURL,
          user = "auto",
          password = "auto"

      instF as InstanceFilter
      create(instF, processService : ps)

      addAttributeTo(instF, variable : "customerType", comparator : IS, value : "Gold")

      instF.searchScope = SearchScope(participantScope : ParticipantScope.ALL, statusScope : StatusScope.ONLY_INPROCESS)

      for each inst in getInstancesByFilter(ps, filter : instF) do

        // here's how to get the value inside a primitive instance variable
        orderAmtObj as Object = getVar(inst, var : "orderAmount")
        orderAmount as Decimal
        orderAmount = Decimal(orderAmtObj)

        if orderAmount > 200 then
            suspend inst
        end

      end

    on exit
      disconnectFrom ps
    end

  • Difference between sous-suite and nested sequence?

    What is the difference between the subsequence and nested in first Pro CC 2015 sequence?

    -RK

    Hi guys,.

    With the help of 'Nest' on a selection of elements in a sequence will be 1) create a new sequence in your bin, 2) place the clips selected in the sequence and 3) replace the clips selected by the instance of the nested sequence.

    With the help of 'Do the sous-séquence' on a selection of elements in a sequence 1) will create a new sequence in your tray and 2) place the clips selected in the sequence. However, unlike the 'nest', it does not replace the selected clips. It is a useful option if you want to keep a backup of part of your sequence until you review the part.

  • difference between SWEEPING earpiece and VIP at the RAC

    Is that there is no difference between these two?

    2 node RAC 10 g R2 (so no SCAN)

    Let's host 1: abc.lmn.com;

    1 host ip: I say 129.1.2.3; and vip 1 as abc.lmn - vip.com-> 129.1.2.4

    2 the host: efg:xyz.com

    with the IP 129.1.2.5 and vip 2 as efg.xyz - vip.com-> 129.1.2.6;

    The ip address and the VIp as just example only.i did not follow the standard conventions.

    Scenario: the client tried to connect to the instance and lets assume host 1 is out of service so host 1 (abc.lmn.com) cannot be used at the request of the customer.

    If the connection should switch to host 2. And host 1 cannot switch as its already down.

    VIP 1 is the address assigned to the physical host 1.

    MY Question is: as the physical host 1 itself is down how the 1 VIP which is attributed to host 1 helps the failover.

    I hope that your next reply will clarify my doubts.

    Thank you

    Just to give you clear answers:
    When host 1 goes down, his VIP are toggled on node 2. And when the client tries to connect to the VIP of node 1, it will immediately get the error message (it doen't wait on TCP/IP timeout) and then the client will connect to node 2 VIP.

    The reason why client does not connect to the VIP of node 1, however its PLACE on node 2, is because when VIP has switched to node 2, his questions, the new MAC addressed to customers. Client both get immediate notifications as error and the client, and then connect to node 2' VIP that runs on 2.

    Hope this helps

  • Stupid question: what is the difference between RAC and Clusterware?

    Hi all

    I'm about to start experimenting with the 11 G RAC Setup (to begin with, is that a cluster of a node, will try to add another later).

    I am reading the docs... I'm on that of clusterware installation, and it seems to indicate that the clusterware and RAC are two different things?

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/install.111/b28263/prelinux.htm#BABJHGBE

    With quotes like "UDP is the default for Oracle RAC interconnect protocol and TCP is the Protocol of interconnection for Oracle Clusterware. You must use a switch for interconnection. Oracle recommends using a dedicated switch. "

    Can someone tell me the difference? I know it sounds stupid, but it's confusing me, and I'm new on this.

    What is the difference between the Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Real Application Clusters?

    In case of failure of the system, put in cluster guarantees availability high for users. Redundant hardware components, such as the additional nodes, interconnection, and discs, allow the cluster to provide high availability. These redundant hardware architecture avoid the single points of failure and provide exceptional resilience fault.

    In environments Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Oracle Clusterware monitors and manages Real Application Cluster databases. When a node of the cluster is started, all instances, auditors and the services are started automatically. If an instance fails, the clusterware automatically restarts the instance, so that the service is often restored prior to the notice of the administrator, he was down. In this sense Oracle Clusterware is the base of Oracle Real Application Clusters.

    In these environments CCR ensures the continuous operation of the database, but also scalability by running several bases of instance data at the same time, usually one on each node in the cluster.

    Hello

    There is no "grid Infrastructure 11gR 3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition", is the only Infrastructure of grid 11 GR 2.

    On the Oracle Clusterware licenses (grid Infrastructure).
    At least one of the servers in the cluster is allowed for the Oracle database (SE1, SE or EE)
    A cluster is defined to include all machines that share the same Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) and the drive to vote.
    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/license.112/e10594/editions.htm#CJAHFHBJ

    On the licensing database.
    http://www.Oracle.com/us/products/database/Enterprise-Edition/comparisons/index.html

    Note: Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), is an option to Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition and included with Oracle Database 11 g Standard Edition (on clusters with a maximum of 4 Sockets).
    If you move to EA Oracle, you must purchase a separate license to use the RAC option

    Regarding the Installation:
    Nothing changes on your current installation of Grid Infrastructure 11.2
    Just install a new fresh install to choose EF of the Oracle (the current clusterware) database during installation. Configure services database from this new HOME of ORACLE. Change anything on the database of all the previous backup and used functionality remains unchanged. With the help of this new House Oracle new features are enabled to be used by your databases.

    On the Downgrade:
    Step by step procedure to perform the conversion from Enterprise Edition to edition Standard [ID 465189.1]

  • Start & stop an instance RAC

    Hello

    I just created a 2 node 11 GR 2 database RAC, traditionally from databases not CARS I would just use sqlplus to start / stop the instance

    Q1. What is the recommended way to start / stop an instance in a RAC environment? Do you use a cluster to do command, or is sqlplus is acceptable?

    Q2. If you use sqlplus and more to stop an instance on a node, I presume that the cluster services is NOT as a failure and so don't try to restart the instance?

    Q3. similiarly what is the best way to start / stop a listener on a particular node?

    any help appreciated

    Jim

    Hello Jim,

    Q1. What is the problem with the status not reflected in the output of clusterware resource? Is it to do with the ability of Services to acknowledge a failure and restart the CLuster service?

    Response: The resource database is not parsed by SIR and if the database suddenly stops then none will try to restart the same.

    Q2. Regarding the automatic closing of a database in a CCR environment (as opposed to the manual method which I asked on-) if I simply turn off the cluster nodes of my will which in turn stops the Instances and close the database RAC itself (when the last Instance is closed)?

    For even if I turn on my knots, the first node start cluster, its instance and open the database?

    Answer: well, if you turn off your server then of course the database and stop anything else running on the server. When the server is under tension and if crs autostart is enabled then the clusterware stack will come with the server

    Q3. What is the difference between a Service and a resource of the cluster? Are the database, earphone etc services or resources? I'm just trying to understand why SVRCTL is used to manipulate the database and listener and not say CRSCTL?

    Answer: You can configure a service which is part of tree resources of database and the resource database is a parent for the same thing. Services are used to connect to the database. Database, (if added) services, asm, listener, scan etc are all the resources of the clusterware, which are monitored by the clusterware.

    You can refer to the Oracle documentation, which will give you more insight on these details

  • difference between compatible.rdbms in asm and compatible parameter database

    Hi gurus,

    Here, I have little doubt. What is the difference between compatible.rdbms and the compatible parameter database.

    We have a 2 node RAC on solaris. When I checked at the ASM instance level I found compatible.rdbms has the value 10.1.0.0.0 and compatible.asm 11.2.0.0.0 and compatible database is set to 11.2.0.0.0.

    Please guide me it will make a difference. Or I have to change the compatible.rdbms to a higher value.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Vincent Poorna Prasad.S

    When compatible.rdbms is set to 10.1.0.0.0, this means that the instance ASM (version 11.2.0.0.0) is compatible to support lower versions of instances of RDBMS from version oracle 10.1.0.0.0.

    If you don't want the ASM instance in support of the lower courts of RDBMS version, you can change the setting.

  • Difference between memory settings

    Hello
    When I checked in my database, I saw these memory settings in my pfile file and I see that duplicate values.
    can you tell me the difference between
    Instance1.__db_cache_size = 939524096
    Instance2.__db_cache_size = 1040187392

    and

    * .db_cache_size = 1342177280

    which is justifiable? and what is the purpose of these two different ones?

    allows a we have 2 node RAC DB

    I want to put a parameter that must have the same value on both cases, lets say, I want to set db_cache_size even in both cases, so I'll use following:

    * .db_cache_size =

    But later I decided I want to increase or decrease the size of the DB_CACHE_SIZE on one of the instnace leaves the floor on the first instnace

    so, I'm going to enter as follows:

    instance_1.db_cache_size =

    So, in pfile, you will see these two values, but the specific parameters of the instance (IE instance_1.db_cache_size) will be a substitute to the
    parameters of the large cluster (*.db_cache_size)

    coming to the second node, we have not specify the input related to it, so size of second instance will be identical to the value of the *.db_cache_size parameter

    -Thank you,
