Journey to Terminal Server Clients

Hello

I have a need to allow specific clients to my Server Terminal Server Services. As use it TS port 3389 would be something like

access-li acl_inbound permit tcp host x.x.x.x 192.168.50.75 255.255.255.255 eq 3389

and

static (inside, outside), Brian 192.168.50.75 netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0

be sufficient for the client through the TS Server? or I need more? Whatever it is this line does not seem to be cutting it...

Thank you

Dave

Hello

you might be right. I'll have to test. But to be absolutely safe, you can use the following static command instead:

static (inside, outside) x.x.71.7 tcp 3389 192.168.50.75 3389 netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0

In this way, only entering port 3389 tcp traffic is transmitted to the TS server.

Kind regards

Tom

Are there problems with it? In executing vCenter 4.1 at the moment, but will switch to the v5 this year.

I tried to find some information about it, but can't find much.

We provide the client vSphere (version 4.x and 5.0) on the servers Windows Terminal Server (Windows 2003 with Citrix XenApp 5.0) and it works flawlessy.

Tested with all sorts of Citrix ICA clients, but also via RDP (including the old version of 5.1 client built into Windows XP).

I never tested the RDP clients non - Windows, but I don't really expect any problems with them.

  • X 220-problem of server terminal server / 3 G / VPN

    Hi all

I have two X 220 with identical problems. The procedure to connect to our server terminal server (Windows 7, server = v2008) is:

    -connect to the internet

-connect to the VPN (using the Version of Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.0290)

-connect to the server terminal server

Everything works well when it connects via WIFI - and everything works well when it connects via the modem to broadband integrated into the X 220 until trying to connect to the terminal server. Then he said: Remote Desktop cannot find the computer XX.

That is, everything works fine up to this point. This includes plenty of internet work in 3G and VPN connection succesfull.

Since I have two identical machines - this should exclude material errors. It must be software.

    Ideas? Anyone?

My colleague has managed to find a solution. Install this update did the trick:

  • Terminal Server license EXPIRING under Advanced Server 2000 Services

We will be upgrading to a new server (using windows Server2008) S/W & hardware with a new provider in the next 6 months. However, we need to use Terminal Server services for the next 6 months on our current Server 2000 advance server until we have transitional...

We just started having this message when logging in remotely: "your Server Terminal services temporary client license will expire in 13 days. Please contact your system administrator to get a permanent license. »

Although advanced server 2000 is not supported, we need to access the remote server for about 6 months until we do the transition...  We are a very small medical office and if we cannot access the server remotely, we are in big trouble! Our doctor S/W is old and is no longer sold or taken in charge by the seller.  We were told that it would not go on the latest server software that is available.

Is it possible to temporarily reactivate (period 6 months) the license for Terminal Server services?  I thought we had a permanent license and have never seen this message before. My guess it is initially set to expire at that time.

Is there something we can do?  Registry editing? Y at - it another software that we could use instead of the Terminal services Server to temporarily access the Advanced server 2000 remotely, once the Terminal Server services license expires? Can we buy a license 'enewal"for a period of 6 months/1 year until we have to transition?

I hope someone can help us, any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Windows Server 2003 (64-bit), Terminal Server has 2 mouse pointers when you connect via RDP

I recently reinstalled one of our Terminal Server Windows Server 2003 (64-bit) servers.
When you connect via RDP, I get 2 mouse pointers. One seems to be the pointer to the session that changes of hourglass, etc... and the pointer remains under the arrow.

I have all the updates that are installed.
There is no options on the RDP settings like what I use on other RDP to the other Terminal server sessions and is not on any other I RDP server on my client.

I connected as other RDP clients and get with the same problem, is not a customer number
Is there a setting on the server to disable this option?

How can I remove the pointer that does not change in the session?

  • How to load balance Terminal Server (Server 2008 R2) servers

Now we have about 3 Terminal Server servers that are used by the three thin client Labs (30 stations by lab). So now I have a server terminal server assigned to a laboratory, and it does not work at the moment. But I am wanting to add additional Terminal Server servers, and want a way to load their balance between my clients light and other clients who will use them.

I don't know what would be the best solution to achieve this scenario where I no longer need to assign a terminal server server to a laboratory, it is not good for the maintenance and if this terminal server goes down, which is sometimes made that lab it's all useless.

I appreciate any thoughts on this and, eventually, how to do? Want to find a cheap solution.

  • What is a Terminal Server Services?

    Original title: Terminal Services?

The Foundation of the remote desktop (including RD for administrators), the fast user switching, Remote Assistance, and Terminal Server. I don't want other users to be connected to my computer and I don't want to share anything with other machines. Services Terminal Server has to do with the router? Can you please let me know more about this service and what will happen if I stop the service. My OS is Windows XP SP3 / Google Chrome / laptop with wireless router / device of Netgear USB to connect to the router. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

In Windows Server 2008 R2 remote desktop services, formerly Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008 and earlier versions, is one of the components of Microsoft Windows (client and server versions) that allows a user to access applications and data on a computer on a network using the Protocol RDP (Remote Desktop). Services Terminal Server is the Microsoft implementation of thin-client terminal server computing, where Windows applications, or even the entire desktop of the computer running Terminal Server Services, are made accessible to a remote client computer. The client may be a computer, running any operating system as long as the Terminal Server services protocol is supported, or a barebone machine powerful enough to support the Protocol with the Terminal services Server, only the user interface of an application is presented to the customer level. Any entry which it is redirected over the network to the server, the application execution takes place.

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro M176n can take care of Terminal Server print?

    Hi all

Because my HP P1102 printer cannot print RDP, so I decided to buy a new printer for the printing of the server terminal server. I am currently using Windows 7 64 bit and the terminal server of my company is can I 2008 Server 64 bit.

Someone know if HP Color LaserJet Pro M176n support RDP printing needs? If not, please would you advise another model of the printer for the printing of the server terminal server thank you.

    Kind regards

    Lapson

Don't worry about the model of the printer when you print from.  Is the printer driver which needs to understand where the print job is coming so that he can pass the print stream to the printer.  If the printer driver is not allowed to communicate between the server and your computer, then you must correct this problem first.

Printing from a Server Terminal Server is normally something that needs to be configured when printing to a USB cable.  Your RDP client has its enabled print transfer function which allows him to pass the objects on your printer to your personal computer on the server.  Without the correct feature is enabled, you will not be able to print with any printer USB model.  Check with your system administrators to see if they can enable redirection of printer for you.

Otherwise, you will need to find a way to install your printer on the network.  This can be difficult if you are telecommuting from a personal network printer does not exist on the corporate network.  It's less that you can get your company to install a router with a VPN feature on it.  In this way, you can connect multiple personal devices on the corporate network.  However, your network admins should be aware that you eat additional IP addresses on their network and that he can't ask you to do it at all.

Otherwise print on a network currently on the network printer should be child's play.  All what you need to do is install a UPD on the server and that it points to the IP address of your network printer desired.  The server will have no problems to send jobs to the printer from here.

    Error:

Windows presentation foundation terminal server print w has encountered

    Tried solutions:

I've updated. NETFramework 3.0 with SP and above versions.

Tried swapping the TsWpfWrp.exe with that of a Windows 7 machine (it worked on other machines with the same question within the domain).

MS ran patch to cause XPS

Not a printer issue as another user in the same environment can print to this printer. The two seem to be the same configuration.

    RDP Client 6.1 installed.

    Resolution:

The only resolution I can find is to uninstall SP3. Then works fine. Anyone got any ideas? Let me know if you need more information.

    Kind regards

I came across this before. For me it turned out that I had a driver locally on the computer that worked for one and a generic driver on the other computer. Check the drivers installed and make sure you have the 64-bit and 32-bit installed on the server.

  • Disconnect a session from the Terminal Server Services causes system hiccups.

    Dear reader,

We noticed some undesirable in MSTSC behavior when a network connection drops during a session-MSTSC to a server. What happens is that when the user is disconnect from the remote session due to network connection dropping, the entire system freezes for a few seconds, making the communication on other physical cards within this same remote device which are not affected by a network connection cannot fall.

In order to reproduce that we run several tests on the following versions of windows using various equipment:

    • Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition
    • Windows 2008 Server R2
    • Windows XP

Tests were performed on both physical and VMWare virtual servers. All systems are equipped with at least two physical ethernet adapters on different IP networks.

During the test, we put a MSTSC connection to windows server during the first card (A) on this server. On the other (B) ethernet card we have implemented an application to communicate to a client on another machine, sending simple messages every second and receiving responses.

When we pulled the ethernet adapter cable has and in doing so, disconnected the MSTSC, the communication on the ethernet B card connection would fail aswell for a few seconds.

Is this a known issue? And in such a solution?
