Jumbo & 12/12.1 Workstation packages

VMware Workstation Pro 12/12.1 supports jumbo packets?

It's so weird. This question was asked several times over the years and no one seems to know the answer. VMware never seems to this forum?

Here's my setup.  I use a 2012 hosted Server Standard.  I have installed work 10 and 5 comments the virtual computer running on the same virtual network (192.168.10.0).  It is setting in NAT because my server hosting company will not bridge network in any way.  I can ping and tracert between the virtual machine without any problem, but once I test host, I get ignored packets.  I've disabled all the unloading on the primary network, as well as within the virtual machine.  I have all the VM tools up-to-date.  Via VMware support, I also deleted my current virtual network and created a new. My VM are running 1 Server 2008 R2 and 4 versions of CentOS.  On that note, I do get a better ping from a Server 2008 R2 but still get randomly on packages 25% drop.  With respect to the CentOS, the lost package varies between 50% to 75% and sometimes 100%.  I don't think I forgot something, but if you think you could help please ask any question.  Any help would be great!

Well, for those who may run into the same problem, I found an answer.

If you work with VM who don't need no internet access, the solution of this problem is listed below.

After reading most of the details information on the networking of the workstation I could find this is how I fixed my problem.

First of all, do not use NAT and bridge of virtual network setting.  Here is to get outside the local network.  The NAT option just would not manage all the connection and would decrease the packages randomly.  I couldn't test the bridge mode because my server host will not allow that to happen. This only left host mode.  This ended up being the best option for my case, because I just wanted my host & invited to talk to each other.

    (1) If your use NAT mode or bridge, and you have your IP address together, open the virtual networks and change those to any other IP address.

    (2) create a new virtual network only the host with the IP address that you want to work with your group VM & host. This should give you all the information to configure your IP address on your VM.

    (3) you can use the DHCP protocol, but if you need installation intellectual property rules in any software, I would use a static IP address.

    (4) make sure that all the vmware tools are installed and up-to-date.

    (5) restart your VM.  This should have you work.  Best way I found to test the connection in the two VM VM, and virtual machine host is to use your standard ping command. Ping from inside the virtual machine and the host.  You should now see that you are more have removed packages.

    vmred.nl

    Hi John,.

Workstation and ACE packages can only coexist on the same computer when they are the same version.

    Then. Workstation 6.5.3 + ACE Player 2.5.3 = ok

    Workstation 6.5.2 + ACE Player 2.5.2 = ok

    Workstation 7 + ACE Player 2.6 = ok

    etc.

So it will have to be decided which base to use. I would not recommend Workstation 5.5 as, the basic support for the product has reached its end of life, so if there is no problem to your end users would be to their own.

  • Packages oversized can cause loss of packets with Dell PC6248

    Hello

We are seeing packet loss on our voice network which causes the phone sometimes sounds without interruption.  This could be the result of oversized packets (more details below).  On a separate note, if I transfer images using Windows Deployment Services multicast it floods all ports (so I don't more :-).  I had initially activated IGMP but he already caused the switch block at random which may have been connected with firmware earlier.

We have the fairly simple network:

    1. 3 Dell PC6248s connected in a star (dist 1 and 2 switches access) topology connected together with LAG trunks running latest firmware.
    2. Several VLANS: voice VLAN (100) production data for IP phones, the vlan 1, dev on vlan 5.
    3. IP phones are mainly Aastra 9133i popular with some Polycom.

I dug more and we are seeing a certain 'oversized packages' on the LAG trunks.  I was wondering if it is at the origin of packets to drop.  If Yes, can I change the MTU size to 1522 (I read that marking adds 4 bytes to the default MTU of 1518) or is there a configuration error I forget somewhere?

I've been searching through your configuration and try to spot something that may be the cause, but nothing is really jumping on me.

On the phones they have workstations that connect to their internet access? Or is it just the phone itself?

One thing we can look at the practice enables jumbo frames. Jumbo frame can be let through all ports and the switch will still go from regular sizes. Extended frames must be activate through all the connections at both ends, once activate on the LAG on a switch, you need to activate on another LAG switch also pass to the back.

  • Z Turbo Drive 512GB (G3G89AT): support low-profile for Z Turbo Drive 512 GB in Z230 SFF Workstation

Does anyone know how to get support low-profile needed to install a Turbo Z Drive 512 GB in a Z230 SFF workstation?

I realized this quick Spec HP card for my desktop which is located at the following link:

    http://WWW8.HP.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?DocName=c04123122

I bought a kit of option (Nr G3G89AT) directly from HP by phone. I asked the seller HP if the package included support low-profile required for installation of this card in my small Z230 form factor. I mentioned that I thought HP might decided to not include this support as a cost reduction measure. After consultation with someone on the side of HP technology, my sales contact told me that the half-height support has been included in the kit. Unfortunately, when the kit arrived, he did not understand the necessary low-profile support, although the instructions for the kit explain how to remove the flange full height and replace it with the mid-height. I learn that HP doesn't have a part number for this support, it is not possible to order one of HP.

The missing support wouldn't be a problem if the positioning of the screw half height brackets holes has been standardized. I learned from a search on eBay that the separation between the mounting holes on the maps of more than half-size is 54 mm, but the HP Z Turbo card has a separation of 51 mm between the holes. Therefore, I can't use a generic support for this card from HP.

When I bought this kit option at HP, I had already purchased the same kit of Alinc Technologies in Austin, Texas. Alinc kit arrived without a low-profile support, but, because the wrong Bill was included in the delivery and the envelope holding the card opened, I assumed half-height support had been lost. To find out how to get support low-profile required for map of Alinc and whether this map was under warranty, I opened the number of cases of HP support: 4752621264. It is through this support effort that I ended up talking to a person of HP sales. I bought the second card Z Turbo Drive with the idea that I would use the first map as a spare. The SFF Z230 workstation only accepts one of these cards, I can use a single half-height for both cards support.

If someone has the necessary low-profile support, I would be interested in buying it. Of course, I can change a generic low-profile with a hacksaw and epoxy support, but it's a very ugly solution.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Thoth

In order to get support low-profile necessary to use the Z Turbo 512 GB drive card in a workstation Z230 SFF, order must be for HP Nr G3G89AA (part No. 759771-001) instead of HP Nr G3G89AT.  The card supplied under the two numbers of HP product is Samsung P/N: MZHPU512HCGL - 000: 1, which is equipped with a flange full-height.

URL for HP Nr G3G89AA: http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/10782034/mfg_partno/G3G89AA

The tab "what's in the box" for this web page does not mention the inclusion of low-profile support, so I recommend that this product be ordered by phone and that the part number and product number is appropriate.  The representative business of HP needs to understand that the card is for a station of small form factor, then it will ensure that the low-profile support will be in the area.

I would like to thank the staff of HP support for the courteous manner in which they dealt with this problem.

    Thoth

  • Driver package for Pro book 650 G1 (win7 x 86)

    Dear HP,

I'm looking for a driver package for use in SCCM (System Center configuration manager) 2007 or 2012 through a softpaq.

    Model: Book Pro 650 G1

    OS: windows 7 32-bit (x 86).

    X 64 - 64 bit

Thank you for a quick answer/fix.

    Kind regards

    Alain VDPlas.

Thank you for your concern about the driver packs. Actually, there is an absolute obligation of divisions of HP business PC for full support of Microsoft and Landesk management solutions. The table of pack driver to http://ftp.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HP_Driverpack_Matrix_x86.html is the wrong link, and now the team knows about it and should be fixed soon. Just a mistake of a part of the website linking systems

Insofar as the driver pack sp64674 it is indeed good for products that include the ProBooks (like the G1 650) of last generation 2013. It would be an impossible task to try to create a driver package unique for each business model of desktop, notebook and workstation with all tests associated with it. Driver pack hosts product families and includes the families of components similart all rolled into one. Did you try and use the driver packs and found that there problems? Please, let us know if this can be fixed. The file you listed is updated as more go through the tests and process issues that's why you don't see specific models listed yet. It should, however, work with Haswell-based Proboks

  • Error Protocol in the package received from the initiator

I have a Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine connected to a PS of the Group (6210xs and 6000). I have 4 volumes iscsi LUNS for Windows data, two on the 6210 and two on the 6000. The vm is on the 6210. We have implemented the 6210 back towards the beginning of the year, and all volumes of data have been implemented with MPIO 5 or 6 months ago.

This morning, one of the 2 data on the 6210 disappeared. Windows Disk Mgmt did not show it online or offline, but the windows iscsi initiator showed as connected LUNs. I disconnected the lun and reconnected and immediately handed volume online and has been fully accessible. The monitor EQ had a message to info about the disconnect with "error Protocol in the package received from the initiator" at the end of the message. 2 seconds later, the logical unit number reconnected.

It sounds like a problem with the initiator of windows rather than a problem of EQ, but I thought I'd check here in any case. It is interesting that it happened only to 1 volume of 4. This volume has been connected since May with no problems until today, and I do not have no changes to configuration since May. Are both the vNIC multichannel vmxnet3 with all the same settings (jumbo frames enabled, unloading of the disabled, numbers for Rx rings, etc.)

Any ideas on all the settings should I check or change, especially with the network cards for?  I'll probably post this on technet, too.

    Thank you.

    Hello

The problem with iSCSI optimization is that it keeps track of connections.  However, the table moves periodically as you have noticed, the connections.  The switch fw does not understand that.  With each stroke he follows the new session and retains the old.   The buffer allocated for it is rather low.  According to FW versions on the switches, this could be as little as 256 connections.  Over time, this buffer is overrun.  The older of the switch that made to block any new connection iSCSI on port 3260.   So turn it off is the best option.

Re: trunk. In general the ISCSI traffic is burst, so when you look at the history of the traffic it appears wrong, because he gets on average over time.  So, I would add at least two additional ports to be sure.

    Kind regards

    Don

  • EqualLogic SAN and Jumbo frames

I can't get the jumbo frames to work on our Equallogic PS6000.  We have the following configuration PS6000-> Dell PowerConnect 6248 (bunk)-> Windows 2008 Server.

The network cards on the SAN has been set at 9000 MTU, ports on switches are set to MTU 9216 and the NIC on Server 2008 is fixed to 9014 with active RX & Tx flow control.

When the server connects to the SAN, newspapers account connection iSCSI target to the initiator "172.21.X.X:3260, iqn.2001-05.com.equallogic:0-8a0906-xxxxxxxxxxx-23a001a955452af6-server1" ' 172.21.X.X:49156, iqn.1991 - 05.com.microsoft:server1' managed, using the length of the standard framework.

When I ping the SAN of Server 2008 with a shitload of 8972 bytes, it works very well.

    C:\Users\system>ping 172.21.x.x f-l 8972
    Ping 172.21.x.x with 8972 bytes of data: reply from 172.21.x.x: bytes = 8972 times<1ms ttl="255" reply="" from="" 172.21.x.x:="" bytes="8972"><1ms ttl="255" reply="" from="" 172.21.x.x:="" bytes="8972"><1ms ttl="255" reply="" from="" 172.21.x.x:="" bytes="8972"><1ms ttl="">

Why 8972?  Told that some genius on the internet.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well we got it to work.  On Server 2008, we have Broadcom and Intel network adapters.  For our tests, we were just using the Broadcom NIC.  Properties Advanced NETWORK adapter, we initially have the value package Jumbo 9014 and it did not work.  So, we opened the Broadcom Advanced Control Suite that came with the NIC and searched and found that there are two parameters that need to be addressed.  There is a jumbo packet definition which has been set at 9014, which is what we wanted it in the advanced NIC Properties.  There is another parameter, MTU, which can be seen on the advanced NIC Properties.  It has been set at 1500.  Once we define to 9000, frames jumbo started working.  We then uncabled Broadcom NIC and wired the card NETWORK Intel and the value of frames 9014 on advanced network adapter properties.  Once we have that frame has worked on this NETWORK adapter, no other measures were needed.  If it's working now.  Thanks to everyone for their help.

  • Best practices of Jumbo frames

    Hello

I'm looking to use a pair of N3048s in a branch, as the heart of the network and for iSCSI (connected to a new equallogic).

If I understand correctly, you can set the jumbo frames on the basis of a single port so it must be enabled on all ports.

Will this cause a problem with the LAN network (i.e. not an iSCSI storage) that none of the devices are configured to use frames?

    Bravo for any advice,

    Huw

It will not cause any problems. Frames allows the switch works with larger packets. If the switch receives a smaller package, it will be the leash at this size and it transmits on. If a larger packet is sent to a device that cannot receive the biggest package, then the package will be broken down into smaller.

  • Application of safety information on behalf of the workstation

    Hello

I use a laptop for home use. I am not connected to a server or anything, just the wifi at home.

Today, I was looking for in the case where the viewer and I saw a lot of log ons with numbers, 2,3,5, or 7. These are all pretty normal? I was using the computer at the time so I doubt that someone was connected "at a distance" while I was on it. Is it normal to start and sign in (with password) etc. see for example newspaper on 2, then a few seconds later to connect 3, 5 or 7 (when I unlock the screen when the computer is inactive)?

In addition, something more disturbing is how name my girlfriend appears sometimes in the name of the workstation.
We each have our own laptop with just 1 on my laptop under my own name and on his profile under his name.

However, his work station is showing on my own that I do not understand. When I start my computer, there is only one profile user (mine) and I put my password. Even if she is using my computer, it always connects me then I don't understand how his name is displayed in the name of the workstation. Another thing is that a lot of the time I noticed this are moments where I would have worked on my computer, and it would be at work, so it's very confusing. Should I worry about this?

Malware bytes has shown the stuff regular malware PUP. AS AN OPTION. CONDUIT etc so I don't think that's the problem: this is an example of one of the newspapers. I deleted his name and my IP address:
