KB915597 (definition 1.95.2986.0)

After receiving this update December 31, my computer would not start, I have solved this problem, but I went left with a non-genuine copy of windows 7 and lack of iertutil.dll (though same sound in my system32 folder) that prevents me from having the full use of the laptop, so I lost all THE previous restore points

I don't have a windows installation disc 7 and I tie anyone with knowledge... is there anyway I can fix this new

If you have downloaded the utility and if you see this error when you do a right click on it & select run as administrator, see if the behavior persists after restarting in Mode without failure. See this tutorial:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html#Windows7

Note: You won't be able to connect to internet in Mode safe, so make sure that you have saved a copy of the log in Notepad. After the restart in normal mode (Windows), start your new thread in the other forum and copy / paste the contents of the Notepad (TXT) file in your message.

=======================================

You really are between a rock and a hard place here. I suspect that you see the effects of a hijackware infection. The best way to deal with this (especially since it was a used computer when you bought it) would be to format the hard drive and do a clean install of Windows. But you need the Win7 disk for it and you do not.

And if you bought in ' such what "State on eBay & the seller don't you any kind of guarantee, you really are to the top of the Creek!

Good luck!

  • Windows Definder KB915597 (definition 1.141.2103.0) cancelled) error Code: 8024000

I read that the 8024000 error means that Windows Update is unable to read a file (update manifest) that is required for installation.

I followed the steps to solve the problem. I checked Windows Update to update KB915597 (definition 1.141.2103.0) was not available. How can I solve this problem?

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/918355

    Read the article:

Method 1: Check the updates in Windows Defender

To check updates in Windows Defender, follow these steps:

    1. Start Windows Defender if it is not already open. To do this, click Start, click programs, and then click Windows Defender.
    2. Search for new definitions. To do this, click find updates now.

Method 2: Manually install the update definitions and verify Windows Update files

Microsoft provides updates Windows Defender through Windows Update through automatic updates and using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). In some cases, you may receive error messages because of problems with these services instead of problems with Windows Defender. To try to determine the source of the problem, first try to manually install the update definitions. If you manually install the update definitions, the problem is probably caused by a Windows Update problem.

Step 1: Restart your computer if necessary

Return to Windows Defender and note the error on the home page. If the error message that you received in Windows Defender contains code 0 x 80240016, restart your computer. If the error message that you received in Windows Defender does not contain 0 x 80240016, go to step 2.

Step 2: Manually install the update definitions

To manually install the update definitions, follow these steps:

    1. Visit the Security Portal at one of the Microsoft Web sites at the following address:

      • If you use the English version of Windows, visit the Security Portal on the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

        http://www.Microsoft.com/security/portal/ADL.aspx

How to manually download the latest definitions for Windows Defender updates

    2. Follow the steps on the Web site to download and install updates to the appropriate definition.
    3. If you cannot install updates of definitions manually or if you still receive error messages on the definition updates in Windows Defender, some other things are happening which go beyond the scope of this article. If this is the case, you may want to ask someone you know for help, or you can contact the technical support.

    4. If you were able to manually install the update definitions, the problem is probably caused by a Windows Update problem. Therefore, you must continue with step 3.

Step 3: Make sure you have all the required Windows Update files

To make sure you have all the required Windows Update files, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Windows Update Web site. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

      http://www.windowsupdate.com

    HI Milton,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities. From your problem description, I understand that you would like to know if it is safe to download Windows Defender updates. Please correct me that I misunderstood.

Do you have any other antivirus on your computer?

Yes, it's absolutely perfect, if you download and install the latest updates for Windows Defender. Updates to Windows that are available to you are intended to improve the performance of the operating system, add new features and keep the computer up to date.

If you use Windows Defender on the computer as a security software, it is recommended to keep it updated as this will improve the performance of Windows Defender to secure the operating system against viruses and Trojans.

If you have Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, McAfee, Norton, etc. installed, they have a conflict with Windows Defender, or turn it off.

Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and it automatically disables the version of Vista in Windows Defender.

  • problem with recent update (KB915597)

After you install the update of recent definition for Windows Defender - KB915597 (definition 1.71.833.0), I noticed, after going online, that my toolbar Google and my ebay Toolbar where gone.  Left click of the toolbar area revealed the existence of the menu bar and the status bar.  I did not at first asscociate the problem with the update so I tried to reinstall the toolbars, but that did not work.  I then performed a system restore and restored to the period immediately prior to the update.  I rebooted, connected to the internet and viola! My toolbars were there.  And then I installed the update, connected to the internet to find that my toolbars are still missing.  System Restore my toolbars and once again were back.  Anyone else having a problem with this update?  I leave myself open does not reinstall the update?

BTW, I'm under IE7, Windows Vista Home Basic Edition.

Use the system again, restore and then Defender manually update on v1.71.859.0 Defs (or more) and see if the behavior persists: https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Definitions/HowToWD.aspx

TIP: Uninstall bars tools & reboot, then download/install the latest version of the toolbar a 1 without that you simply can not live. Several third-party toolbars have their own, very opinions on where they should be located in the IE toolbar and they most certainly can "kill" each other. Google and eBay toolbars are just two of them.

  • Problems after update KB915597

    Good afternoon

I have a laptop ASUS F3F series using the Windows Vista Edition Home Premium and Service Pack 1 . Until yesterday, everything was fine, then I installed "update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (definition 1.57.619.0) definition" . A few minutes later, I tried to use his webcam, and even if I could see the lights showing that would start the webcam, I got a blue screen saying that windows had to close and then it restarted.

I tried to use again and it happened again. Then I removed the installation of the camera, and using the ASUS cd I installed again. When I tried to use, is the same thing. This update cannot be removed.

I have not found in internet anyone with the same problem, but I saw another guy has had some problems with the same update (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistainstall/thread/e71f953c-4b0b-4004-86ca-60a2023a117b/), but he was not on the webcam.

Could someone please give me a hint to solve this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    I solved it a bit.

I restored the system to the point before the update. So I uninstalled the webcam. Then I rebooted (I tried to skip this step and it didn't work). Installed and updated the driver for the webcam again. It works now.

But now I'm afraid to update windows again, I won't do it.

How I regret the purchase of Windows Vista. When I bought the laptop, there were a few computers with XP and I liked Vista.
