KB949810 impossible to install Office Genuine Advantage Tool

I have a computer on which I am upgrading I noticed was not installing the OGA tool.  I made sure the Task Scheduler is set to automatic.  I have installed SP3.  I've looked through the forums, but have not met everything worked again.  Someone posted this fix, but I knew exactly what he was doing, so I have not yet tried.  Can someone advise?

"I delete the Edb.log file and also the catroot2 folder and I run cmd/regsvr32 licdll.dll and Regsvr32 regwizc.dll; I delete all the files in \WUTemp and I reboot. I went to http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=fr and I have more demand for "authentic desktop notifications. I went to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.aspx?displaylang=en and I validate successfully my windows and my office. Now, I turn to microcoft program update because everything is ok and the settings are automatic updates, what else can I ask... So, I want to thank you for your quick help and have a good time. »

KB949810 is an option, not the security update. As long as you were able to validate and you do not experience problems installing Office updates, feel free to hide it.

1. stop the automatic updates service:

Start > run > services.msc (enter) > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > click Stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

Start > run > %windir%\SoftwareDistribution (enter) > [OK]
Open the download folder and delete its contents
Close the window.

3. go to the Windows Update Web site. Select CUSTOM and allow the analysis to be performed. Uncheck/unselect KB949810 and hide ("don't show me this update").

4. start the automatic updates service:

Start > run > services.msc (enter) > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > click Start
(Starting the service will take a moment)

  • Prompt to install Windows Genuine Advantage

Recently, I noticed that several Windows XP machines get invited to install the Windows Genuine Advantage software after being imaged.  I was wondering if there was a particular KB which makes this place.  I would like to avoid having to install this software on the systems in question because they are newly imaged machines that should already be corrected using WSUS.  I tried to search the WSUS server for patches that might be related to but found nothing referencing WGA or "Windows Genuine Advantage".

  • Impossible to install office 2010

When I try to install office 2010, the program said: it must be installed in the disc of Q, and Q disc should not be used.

But, as we know, disk Q of the thinkpad is a recovery disk, how could he not be used!

I completely think I might do, but still...

  • Impossible (to install office 2003 after repeated failures of the updates for office 2003 re security)

The security update for office 2003 on my XP (SP3) kept failing throughout the last week. I contacted the support of MS PC security by phone and I was transferred from the Department the installation program office at Department of update of security for customer service. I followed some other technique posted on the web for the same question and tried to uninstall office 2003 and re - install. However my new installation of office 2003 meets the following error (same error I got when I tried to apply the security updates)

Finally, I was able to get good support from Microsoft. A Microsoft support engineer remotely connected to my machine and was able to fix the installation/update directories corrupted microsoft who were at the origin of the problem. I managed to install office with success and things are back to normal. I had given up hope after my original support request (2 weeks back) and the first experience with the customer. • Impossible to install Office 2003 on Windows 7 Starter netbook

Hi - I'm looking for help in setting up my office 2003 DVD on my netbook.  I tried to connect a DVD player to my netbook (not good) and followed with a copy of the contents of entires of the DVD to my netbook via a flash drive (also not good).

In both scenarios, I get the following error:
Installation of Microsoft Office 2003: error 1723.  There is a problem with the Windows Installer package.  A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. »

Cords or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Steve Heff,.

You receive this error Windows Installer error 1723 when installing a program. Installation can be terminated prematurely, or there may be a fatal error during installation. Windows Installer error 1723 occurs because Windows Installer cannot start the source files for the configuration of the software application you are trying to install. These files may be missing or damaged. In general, the original MSI installation files will be cached in the ' C: winntInstaller directory before installation begins. Inappropriate caching of a file MSI is main causes of errors, too.

First of all, check if the Windows Installer service is started in the Services.

    1. click on start.
2 type Service to start the search.
    3. Locate the Windows Installer Service in the Services window.
    4. make sure that the service is started, if it is to restart the service and check.

Now try to install Microsoft Office and check.

If you are unable to install, then I suggest that you uninstall all files related to Microsoft Office 2003 by using Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.

See link: use the utility Windows Install CleanUp to remove Office 2000, Office XP or Office 2003: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Now try to install Office and check.

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows. Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) will NOT fix it!

HOW to do a clean install of Vista: see the "to install Windows by performing a clean install" (or "reinstall Windows Vista") http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-Vista article

NOTE: because you upgraded to Win7 Vista, you will need to do a clean install of Vista. Once you get Vista fully patched & SP1 is installed, you will be able to switch to Win7 again.

NOTE: If your computer came with a set of disks, there is a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the restoration of the system) you would use to do the clean install (AKA a "destructive recovery")... unless you wiped out the hidden partition when you upgraded to Win7.

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

Tip: After completing the computer fully patched, download/install KB971029 manually before connecting any player external to the computer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971029

VERY IMPORTANT! -Online free trial Norton will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the Norton Removal Tool before installing updates, Windows Service Packs or IE upgrades AND BEFORE installing your new antivirus application (for example,Microsoft Security Essentials -free).

  • Impossible to install Office 2007 on Macbook/Fusion

I have a Macbook aluminium, and 2.01 Fusion.

Through consumption of Microsoft program has purchased Office 2007 (Enterprise Edition).  Comes on a DVD.  Can't get it installed - any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I insert the DVD (w/o the Fusion running), the disc spins and grinds for about 30 seconds, then spit out the DVD.  Did the same thing when Fusion (XP VM) is running.  So, as is, I can not install off this DVD directly on the virtual machine - the computer will never even show the disc.  I checked the disc with other media, and it works very well; In addition, checked the DVD on a PC XP and this computer has recognized the disc very well.

Tried to watch, found some older threads with similar problems, but no result.  Here's what I tried, without success:

Insert the DVD in the drive of my PC XP networked and shared this drive.  Could see the files on the DVD in the player shared under OSX.  Copied all files to the Macbook on a shared folder with the VM XP and I could then see the files of the virtual machine and run the install, but it gets stuck you are looking for the file "setup.xml" after I select which parts of the Office I want to install, even when pointed to the specific directory, the location of the file.  Cannot get past this error message and I cancel the installation.

Then, use disk utility to create a CD image (with the source being the shared drive w / disc). I burned the image on a new DVD.  Now, OSX will accept and can see files on DVD recently burned.  However, when I start the XP VM, it does not recognize the drive.  The virtual machine recognize other media in this drive, however, so I don't think it's a problem of General settings now.

I don't know if it's a sort of Microsoft security measure, or what... Have not been able to find a solid answer after a search, so I can get this wrong and that's the problem.  I don't think it's a physical disk problem, because the original disc was accessible on an XP PC.

Since you have a Windows system available that can read DVD discs I make an ISO Image of the DVD disc on Windows system and then move the ISO Image via the network or other methods, to the Mac and then attach the ISO Image to the Virtual Machine's CD/DVD drive and install the iSO Image form.

VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > managing Virtual Machines > configure the CD/DVD drive > connection and setting upward a CD/DVD Drive

It should work with 32 bits of internet explore.

new information just been was discovered on this issue. Here's the post-it on the WGA forums:

Lately, there are considerable problems with validation in all areas of Microsoft, when you try to download the material that requires validation.

Finally, the Forum Poster Tech Mgr found the cause and a solution!

When you go to a download page such as for Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista (32-bit), you get to a page
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=14

If you click on the continue button on the page, MS currently sends you to the wrong place.

The solution is to change the existing URL by adding 'real validation' instead of 'details' in your URL of the download page
    so for the one above.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=14
    becomes
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/download/genuine-validation.aspx?ID=14

    Similarly
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=3941
    becomes
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/download/genuine-validation.aspx?ID=3941

.. .and your download becomes visible, and you can click on the download button...

A big thank you to Archbishop Tech for interpretation of this out!
