KB972036 updated... Do I need to uninstall the first kb972036 and is anyway I can say
If I have good update on my computer vista ultimate?

    Hi wm_s

There is a solution to check whether or not the KB972036 update that is already installed on the computer is the last update.

    I. Windows Vista Application compatibility updates are delivered by using the automatic update feature in Windows Vista. You probably already have the update installed August 2009. To verify that this update has already been installed, visit the Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) Web site, and then click view update history.

If you find that the update is old, please uninstall the update by following these steps.

    1. click on start and then click Control Panel.

    2. click on uninstall a program under section programs.

    3. in the list of tasks in the left navigation area, click View installed updates.

    4. click on update for Microsoft Windows (KB972036) and then click on uninstall.

    5. click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the uninstall.

Note If you are prompted to confirm or the administrator password, click Yes to confirm, or type the administrator password.

    Restart the system when prompted.

II. you can also hide the update if he is invited again. In the Windows Update window, click View available updates, right-click on the update and click Hide.

III. try this step to clear the history of update.

    1. open the prompt in elevated mode [run as Administrator].

    2. try to run these commands at the command prompt.

    a. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\services.msc

    b. you will get the services window. Stop the following services with a right click on the service by clicking on stop.

    i. background Intelligent Transfer Service.

    II. Cryptographic Service.

    III. Windows Update Service.

    c. once that you stopped these services, please return to the command prompt.

    Ren catroot2 catroot2.old C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CD...

    C:\WINDOWS\ren c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

    d. Once you have renamed folders, please restart the services that you stopped.

    i. background Intelligent Transfer Service.

    II. Cryptographic Service.

    III. Windows Update Service.

    e. now close the two windows; Services and command prompt.

    f. open Windows Update and then click Find updates. If it is offered again, hide the update.

    Good luck wm_s

  • used to install Vista service pack 2. help please

I tried to install it twice, just don't install. the progress bar gets all the way through, but it is said that it is impossible to install. I strongly doubt of my drive is full, I have nothing here. and I didn't cancel it... so any help is great!

    Hey sarrade,.

Please, try the following steps to install Service Pack 2 on your computer.

The reason why Service Packs are system files corrupted or some third party software conflict or because of some obsolete drivers on the computer.

But you don't worry why it failed and what is the possible cause of his failure.

    So, here are the steps:

    1. turn off your anti-virus software.

    2. put the computer in a clean boot by following these steps

    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    b. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)
    c. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

Note following this step lets Microsoft services continue to operate. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.
    d. click OK and then click on restart.

    3. disconnect your external devices [basically printers, scanners, do not unplug keyboard or mouse]

4 turn off your Windows updates by clicking on the evolution of the setting in the Windows Update window. Check do not search for updates.

5 try to clear Windows Update history.

    1. click on start--> all programs--> accessories--> right click on command prompt - click on run as administrator.

    2. hit enter on each order now.

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\services.msc

In the Services window, stop the following services by right-clicking on each of the services.

    a. Background Intelligent Transfer Service

    b. Crytpographic Service.

    c. Windows Update Service.

    3. go back to the command prompt and type these commands.

    Ren catroot2 catroot2.old C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CD...

    C:\WINDOWS\ren c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

Go back to Windows Services and restart the services which we stopped as shown in step 2.

    4. open the Windows Update window and in the lower corner on the left, click installed updates. A list of updates will fill. In the upper right corner in the search box, try searching the KB972036 update.

If you find this KB972036update, please right-click on the update and uninstall.

    5. close all windows and start downloading these two updates.

  • I can't update my update update most receint KB972036. Need help

My computer doesn't update the following update. Update KB972036. I did everything with the exception of the upgrade to Windows 7. Any suggestions?

Sorry, you have problems getting your patches installed. I have a number of things for you to look at.  First of all, your Background Intelligent Transfer Services set to Automaticand started and Windows Update ? You can check these settings by typing services.msc in the search box of the start menu.

Sometimes in order to get patches to install correctly, you must perform these tasks manually.  Here are two links to this patch, choose the one that applies to your system:

    Vista 32 bit

    Vista 64-bit

If this does not work, try to run the Microsoft OneCare safety scanner.  Sometimes it will solve problems of hidden registry, or can clear the virus that can prevent the installation of the patches: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm. Click full service scan, and then Quick scan (full scan takes a long time to complete). Try the patch again.

    Hope this helps,

    Barbara

  • Error 80004005 code update to Vista (KB972036) and Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688) 643 error code.

    The first update (KB972036):

During the restart process, after the message "do not turn off your computer", the following message (Please note that I use the Slovak version of Windows Vista, so I tried to translate the message to my knowledge):

"Update has not been configured correctly, cancelling the changes.

I tried to install it manually, I downloaded "Windows6. 0-KB972036-v2-x 86.msu", but the result is exactly the same.

    ------------------------------------------------------

    The other (KB973688) update:

When installing it via windows update, there seems to be no problem, but it is not settled.

    So I checked c:\windows\system32\msxml4.dll and he says it's MS XML 4.0 SP2, version 4.20.9876.0

I tried to install it manually as well, I downloaded "msxml4-KB973688 - enu.exe", but when I try to install, it comes up with the error message (screenshot below).

    http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3381/msxml4error.jpg

    --------------------------------------

    Here's what I'm running:

Windows Vista Edition Home Premium SP2 32-bit

I'm just having trouble installing these two updates, everything else is pretty much installs ok, but whenever I update via windows update, I have to leave out both for the aforementioned reasons.

I created my updates so that the system warns me of new updates are available, but I decide to download them and install them.

I tried to change this setting to a State, where Windows automatically downloads and installs the updates by itself, but there was no difference and these two updates are always a pain in my virtual neck.

    Help, please! Thank you

    Hi ozziebabyxxx,
