keep the longer archivelogs that the window of recovery - a possibility?

For various reasons (which I may not go here), I need archivelogs are kept for a longer period than the incremental backupsets (say that its to do with constraints or our backup hardware).

Can I set a retention period for the archivelogs be a number of days - say 7 - while the basic recovery window will be just one day?

    Hello

    Either yourself or a store should remove the HDD and it slave in a system that works to see if the data can be recovered from him. The error message indicates a corrupt installation volume rarely, this can be fixed without deletion and recreation of the volume (and doing so will lose all data currently on the disk). Once the data was retrieved from the Vista installation will have to be redone from scratch.

  • 910219. how to download and keep the Windows Update files?

    Hello

    What is the ideal way to update Windows? now, Windows downloads the selected updates. where? I do not know! and after their installation, it removes the packages for installation on my computer. This causes the downloaded updates are lost, and I can't use them to similar machines that need to install the same updates. for these machines, I have to download updates again! This causes my internet to be charged again while it is not really necessary.

    the ideal way, in my view, is that I can specify a folder for the Windows Update service. It can use a default folder for that also. After selecting the updates, I want to install in my system, it checks to see if the update is already existing in the folder. only if NOT it downloads. then after downloading it maintains the package in the same folder after installing. installation should be done automatically as it is done now. Then I can move the folder to another machine. in the second machine, I also choose the update I want to be installed which are mostly the same as the first machine. for example, Windows Update only consumes my internet traffic for updates that are not yet downloaded. I wonder why Windows Update doesn't currently work the same way?

    by this method, I can at least use the consumption of traffic and I can access the latest updates with the easier and faster way. I I would like to choose a memory flash for this purpose and keep the folder inside.

    is there a way to achieve this?

  • How to keep the window Excel always on top in this particular case?

    Hello world

    I have Windows 7 64 bit and Excel 2010 32-bit (Dell XPS 15z). I want to keep Excel 2010 always above other windows/programs/applications after race/start Excel "as Administrator". How to do this?

    Question in details:
    I have only a single administrator login account and I've logged on as administrator. I need to keep Excel always on top. So I tried Office Pin, window On Top, software etc. but it does work because I open/running Excel 2010 (32-bit) as administrator due to need particular.
    I open/running Excel after changing the Excel.exe file "property > compatibility > privilege level" by selecting "Run this program as an administrator", as shown in this picture http://i.imgur.com/iEmyz.png. I get live market of software to Excel data, now I have to keep my Excel always above other windows all I can work on other applications/windows/browsers while still keeping the Excel on top.
    Someone help me how to keep Excel always on top?
    Thank you much in advance.

    Fact. Problem solved.
    Control Panel > user accounts > change user account control settings > never notify (downstairs bar selection at least never notify) > OK (click OK).
    Restart the computer. Open Excel and PIN with DeskPins and now its works well.
    DeskPins earlier did not work for Excel (because the compatibility of Excel.exe has been amended as indicated in the previous/top of the post) but now its working fine after that changing the settings in the user account control settings and then restarting the computer.

  • Keep the window in the Center

    Hi all
    Could you please tell me how to set the form to the Center window. I used the following code in * _INSTANCE WHEN_NEW_FORM * trigger but his does not work. Help, please.

    ---------------------------------------------The Code------------------------------------------------------------
    declare
    NUMBER OF HD;
    NUMBER OF HR;
    NUMBER OF MW;
    NUMBER OF RW;
    BEGIN
    set_window_property (forms_mdi_window, window_state, normal);

    MH: = GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY (FORMS_MDI_WINDOW, HEIGHT);
    MW: = GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY (FORMS_MDI_WINDOW, WIDTH);
    HR: = GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY ('WINDOW1', HEIGHT);
    RW: = GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY ('WINDOW1', WIDTH);
    SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY ('WINDOW1', POSITION,(MW-RW)/2,(MH-RH)/2);
    END;

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    It seems that in the trigger once - new - form - Instance, the MDI window size is unknown.
    He must create a timer:
    Once - new - form - Instance:

    Declare
         timer_id   Timer ;
    Begin
      timer_id := Create_Timer( 'delay', 100, NO_REPEAT ) ;
    End ;

    Then adjust the size of the window in a trigger WHEN-TIMER-EXPIRED:

    Declare
         MH NUMBER;
         RH NUMBER;
         MW NUMBER;
         RW NUMBER;
    Begin

      If lower(Get_Application_Property( TIMER_NAME )) = 'delay' Then

              MH:=GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW,HEIGHT);
              MW:=GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW,WIDTH);
              RH:=GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('WINDOW1',HEIGHT);
              RW:=GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('WINDOW1',WIDTH);

              SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('WINDOW1',POSITION,(MW/2)-(RW/2),(MH/3)-(RH/3));

      End if ;

    End ;

  • management of the Windows flash recovery area

    Hi experts,

    We use oracle 10G R2, enterprise edition on windows 2003 Advanced Server...

    We have a size 20 GB database with archive log mode and archiving destination specified to Flash the recovery area. We don't use RMAN as a backup strategy. and are flash recovery size is set to 5 GB. as it is an OLTP system, it generates a lot of log archiving in the flash recovery area, order of frequent newspaper with the redo log file size is 100 MB.

    I would like to know, how can I manage the flash recovery area, if I do not use RMAN to specify archivelog retention policy? How can I specify that oracle should keep log archive files to flash recovery are for 5 days? as we know that oracle won't remove any permanent file at least flash recovery area that it is obsolete, and database may hang if there is space in recovery is full... I can take the log backup archive to another disk, but is it possible to say oracle keeps log archiving for 5 days and remove them to recover space in case of disk space full for the flash area?

    or if I put the retention using RMAN policy, it will take effect for maintain the retention policy and remove the log archiving obsolete in the area of flash recovery after 5 days, even if I do not use RMAN to back up my database?

    any suggestions would be much appreciated

    Thanks and greetings
    VD

    Vikrant dixit says:
    We use import export for backup of database (political company it's not mine)

    Then suggest or explain this imp/exp is not any type of backup. It's a data dump. And it won't save disaster. There will be data loss. If it's good to society, then it's ok.
    And then perhaps it is not necessary to keep the database in log mode archive if exp/imp is used.

    .. .and archive logs are generated and not backed up yet... that's why I asked this question here how manage space flash in a future close if space is complete in the same...

    Then, you must implement the log backup archive and deletion with rman. And if already happens with rman, then why not go further and use rman for full database backups.

    What you need to do:
    1 understand how often do you need to archive backup logs
    2. When you save them (tape, disk)
    3. making scripts to archive log backup or remove and obsolete backup deletion.
    It may be just a script
    delete any backup archivelog entry;
    remove obsolete;

  • Why the windows xp recovery disk hangs 90%

    Setup formats to 90% and no longer is located at 90%, sometimes it says cannot read disk I just there in the mail from microsoft?

    Hi JeffPoe,

    1. Is that what you received the computer manufacturer's recovery disks?
    2. What exactly is the error message you receive?
    3. How did you start the installation? You install Windows XP on the new hard drive or a hard drive empty?

    Microsoft does not manufacturer or provide recovery disks.

    Recovery discs are supplied by the manufacturer of the computer.

    I suggest that you check if there is no scratches on the Windows XP installation disk, you can also clean the surface of the disc with a clean dry and check if it continues the installation.

    Hello @joe935,

    Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

    I stumbled upon your post on the recovery partition and wanted to help!

    I wouldn't recommend replacing your current recovery with Windows 10 files partition.  This current partition is used, just in case you want to revert to your previous operating system.  This option is only good for the first 28 days after the installation of Windows 10.  However, you can create recovery media for your operating system to Windows 10.  Please see the document below for more assistance, if necessary: HP PC - creating and using a recovery of Microsoft USB drive (Windows 10)

    Please let me know if this information has been helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.

  • Where to get the Windows vista recovery disk to do a clean install?

    Where can I get the windows vista for any new installation disk. Both my recovery disk & HDD crashed. I had windows vista preinstalled.

    Hello

    Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

    If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

    You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

    Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

    And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

    "How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

    And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.
