    Hi, Dr.,

Volumes that contain file system errors are known as Sales. To indicate that a file system problem has occurred and that the volume is dirty, Windows XP Professional displays a message similar to the following when you try to open, delete, or rename a file or folder by using Microsoft Windows Explorer or the command prompt:

Autochk runs if the volume is marked as modified.

If the file system has marked the volume as dirty, Autochk runs the Startup Repair process. Volumes are marked as dirty, when the file system detects an error on the volume. If Autochk detects a dirty volume, it provides a delay of 10 seconds, and then starts the repair process. If you cancel Autochk when a volume is dirty, Autochk tries to run again after a 10 second delay every time the computer is restarted.

See Chkdsk for all the necessary explanations:

  • Keyboard output incorrect characters after the re-installation of Windows Vista on Dell XPS M1530

Original title: some of the keys on the keyboard messed up after re-installation of Windows Vista on Dell XPS M1530

    Hey guys,.

I have recently reinstalled windows because last year I picked up a few errors that I couldn't fix it easily and I wanted a clean slate.

I have install all the drivers etc, but I noticed on my keyboard, if I try and make a "sign it comes up with a sign @ and vice versa." There are also others like that, so I guess that my keyboard readers need to update? Although I have no idea why they would need updating as they were before.

Anyway, I went here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_M1530&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid= and I tried to find the driver I need, but could not find them.

So, overall, my question is should I update the drivers? If so, how?

And if not, how can I fix?

    Thank you. :)

    Hi cripple.

    Thank you for your message.

Was is happening until you have reinstalled Windows?

How do you reinstall Vista, what steps did you take?

    What is a wireless keyboard?

If this is the case, check the batteries and make sure that the keyboard is very close to the receiver (a few inches) to see if the problem resolves.

I suggest updating your anti-virus definitions and run a fun system scan.

You can connect another keyboard to your computer to see if it might be the fault of the keyboard?

    Hello

    I recently bought a Dell XPS 15.

I found when I use the keyboard when I press the "button, nothing not appears on the screen. If I press on the "key a second time and then" "appears on the screen."

Or if I press on the "button, but keep typing the" appears after the following key.

If I press on the "button then space bar, then the" appears, but it will not be a space on the screen and I have to press the space bar a second time.

Is the same thing with the "button as well.

I don't yet know the best way to search for this subject on Google or on the Dell Support.

There is no problem with the key.

I appreciate any help anyone has on this issue.

    Thank you

  • Toggle touchpad with keyboard shortcut for Dell XPS 13 (XPS L322X)

    Hello

Is it possible to turn on/off the touchpad with a keyboard shortcut?

    Thank you!

    Karl

I have a Dell XPS 13 and this has bugged me for a year. I have finally fixed it, via a registry command line:

    To disable the trackpad, run

    Tracking Add "HKCU\Software\Cypress TrackPad Driver\Device Select" v EnableTrackPad /t REG_DWORD /d 1 f

    To activate the trackpad, run

    Tracking Add 'Select HKCU\Software\Cypress TrackPad Driver\Device' v EnableTrackPad /t REG_DWORD 0 f d

Note that disabling the trackpad shows a slight delay in it taking effect.

To automate these commands, save each command in a batch file, for example turnoff.bat, turnon.bat, then you can run them from the windows, run the command (windows key + start typing the path towards the bat file) or via a shortcut app, like slickrun.

  • Dell XPS 10 keyboards

Recently, I bought a Dell XPS 10 Tablet. Would this work if I had to buy a keyboard for that, which is not the official keyboard for this dock? Just like a generic 10 "keyboard. I wasn't sure if there must be the keyboard made for her, and I can't afford the official keyboard so wanted to know if I could use a keyboard made by other brands.

Support don't know well do they? If your xps 10 features a USB as my 10 lat... then of course, you can use any keyboard your heart desires. In fact I would say that I can use the dock 10 XPS with my latitude 10 simply by removing the stems of alignment that my camera was not lying to him, but the connector 40 pin is exactly the same. • Dell XPS 8700 - failure of the keyboard when the bios boot (but not when Windows is loaded)

My Dell XPS 8700 has 10 Windows and a Logitech Keyboard wireless, connected by USB. The keyboard works absolutely fine when Windows has loaded. I have the latest version of the bios, A11.

However, when the computer is turned on and starts the bios start, it displays 'Keyboard Failure' on the screen for about half a second. When I try to go into the bios setup by pressing "F2" at the counter (I keep typing "F2" from the moment when I press the power button on the computer), there is no answer. The "keyboard failure" and inability to enter the bios setup seems to happen if I do a cold immediately after a stop start, a cold start after the computer is turned off for an extended period or a reboot.

I tried to connect the wired keyboard original Dell one of the USB ports on the front of the unit (without disconnecting the wireless keyboard) with the same problem at the start of the bios.

I encountered this problem on versions of bios A11 both A03. I know that in the past, although I don't remember when - I was able to enter the bios setup by pressing "F2".

Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

You can try and reset the CMOS. It will return your settings to factory settings, but not the version. Usually, this erases these problems because CMOS stores data editable such as your wireless keyboard settings. BIOS stores the information about the basic material that is unchangable as your keyboard usb, mouse and other essential equipment. If you notice, when you just plugin any keyboard and mouse, its recognized at startup. Your needs software to run wireless device and that is stored in the CMOS.

So once reset you the CMOS, you may need to then install the wireless software.

    Good luck.

  • How can I find a copy of windows 7 for dell Xps 15 (L502X)

    Hello evryone...

    Tanks

You misunderstood what George wrote.  Dells have a "factory restore Partition" and reinstalling Windows procedure that is described in the manual of your PC.  For example, here is an excerpt from the mine-

Reference Dell Factory Image Restore [excerpt from manual for Dell Inspiron 1545]
    1. turn on the computer.
2 when the Dell logo appears, press several times to access the Advanced Boot Options window.
Note: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop; then, shut down your computer and try again.
    3. Select repair your computer.  The System Recovery Options window appears.
    4. Select a keyboard layout and click Next.
    5. to access the recovery options, log in as a local user. To access the command prompt, type administrator in the user name field, and then click OK.
    6. click on Dell Factory Image Restore. The Dell Factory Image Restore welcome screen appears.
Note: Depending on your configuration, you may need to select Dell, then Dell Factory Image Restore factory tools.
    7. click on next. Data delete screen is displayed.
Note: If you do not wish to continue Factory Image Restore, click Cancel.
    8. check the box to confirm that you want to continue reformatting the hard drive and restoring the system software to the factory condition, then click Next.  The restore process begins and may take five or more minutes. A message appears when the operating system and the applications installed in the factory have been restored to the State of the plant.
    9. click Finish to restart the system.

You can find this information for your model on the Dell support website [through www.dell.com ] If you have thrown the manual of your PC and don't have any pdf copy of it.

The manual of your PC will also be instructions for creating a set of "Recovery disc" and do this after the factory restore.

In addition, the backup utility provided with Dells [mine is DataSafe Local, but that may have changed] has the ability to create a USB bootable from the "factory restore Partition" so that you can deal with a hard disk failure in the future.  So do because it is a valuable tool [an insurance against future problems] - they advised me to use a 16 GB USB key, but the image is only 6.2 GB so I could use a 8 GB USB key instead.

Palcouk is also correct.  All this which may or may not have been provided with your purchase, Dell will provide a floppy disk to install OEM of Windows 7 on demand - the load is small, I think [I think I saw a post about it being $30].

  • Dell XPS 14 brightness will not change / "Painting as" Image

I just got a Dell XPS 14 Core i5 and the GeForce 630 M. I found that the brightness of the display does not change even if pressing the keys on the keyboard or adjust the slider on the screen the toggle to retouch the brightness comes. Thus, the keys work. I have updated the drivers for the 630M, chipset and Intel 4000 card. Also, I flashed the BIOS with the latest version. The Dell representative I talked to said that updating the drivers may solve the problem - it didn t. Then, through remote connection it did for me. No luck. So, what's the problem? Also, I have a weird and potentially related problem. All the images on the screen (bottom of screen, images in the browser, photo gallery, YouTube, etc.) have a look "painted" their. The videos are unstable and the images are very washed-out. Once again, after update, the problem persists. For me it is a hardware problem. Help someone!

    Thank you

Type of system: XPS 14 L421X detailed description of the problem:

The display is of poor quality with graphs, images, videos and texts appearing pixelated and grainy. The problem is particularly notable for graphics online / on the internet. The contrast is also apparently, make images appear as less detailed, almost like a screen 256 older colors. The problem persists when the video output is connected to an external monitor via a HDMI cable.

The issue is subtle and may not be obvious to new users; Is why it can easily be neglected if not carefully read. I would recommend comparing the simultaneous side-by-side display of the same image on your computer and another computer files. In addition, display images at actual size of 100% in the comparison will help identify the problem. You should be able to see obvious color with gradients almost "oil painting" as artifact.

After months of wasted effort with XPS support replace the LCD screen, install a new copy of Windows and video drivers, shipping my computer for the installation of Dell for 'analysis of expert' and even replaced all of the device, the problem has not been solved.

A few days after updating my Windows to 8.1, I found the problem. Here is the solution: right click on the new button start click on "Mobility Center", under 'Color of the default' select generic color instead of splendid color. This will fix the problem.

  • Backup impossible - Vista Ultimate, Dell XPS 420, WD 320 external (eSATA) drive - error 0 x 81000006 and 0 x 81000014

Hello, I've had this problem for some time now, and it's very frustrating.  I can't save the disk correctly - there have been times that I've been able to do a full backup, but subsequent backups then failed, and other times, I can't yet do a full backup.

I have a DELL XPS 420 PC, running Vista Ultimate.  I also have a 320 GB Western Digital external hard drive connected via eSATA.

I had problems with backup from the beginning.  Previous suggestions have been to ensure that the drive is formatted in NTFS (it is) and to make sure that I am able to see the drive from the computer and access (I can).

I got two different types of error messages:

    ================================
    Error message:

The backup location cannot be found or is not valid. Check your backup settings and check your hardware configuration. (0 x 81000006)

    Backup time: 12-09-2009 01:05

The backup location: My Book (z :))

    Error message:

There is not enough space on your Windows drive to prepare for the backup of your files. At least 400 MB of free space is required to continue. (0 x 81000014)

    Backup time: 05/01/2010 18:38
The backup location: My Book (z :))

    [Start over] [Settings] [Close]

    ==============================

What could be the problem? What I might try?  Please let me know if I can provide any other information that might help.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!

    Hey, Ronna,.

Sorry I didn't saw this post earlier - I hope you were able to solve your problem.

Here's what I figured out around miner (on mine - after hours and hours of research):

The message 'no space' was more a message "no memory" for me - I understand that if I have a large number of open programs, that is causing the error.

The other mistake, I was getting, it was simply that the external HD had stopped spinning - now, whenever it says backup failed because he could not find the hard drive I press the power button on the back of the drive (I have a MyBook Western Digital external hard drive 320), run it, and then it works fine.

I hope this helps someone else.

    Hi guptashubham123,.

There is no option to turn off the subwoofer in XPS system.

You can modify the equalizer settings audio application in the system tray.

Here are the steps on how to change the audio settings.

1: on Windows 7 systems, click Start --> Audio Dell--> Dell Audio in Windows 8 systems, type Dell Audio from the splash screen and select Audio Dell utility.
Reference Dell Audio from Realtek utility is launched.
