Keyboard T410

I installed Winddows 7 Ultimate in my laptop and the key '? ' / ' does not work. I have to press ALT GR + Q or W to use this feature.

My friend who works at IBM sent me a file called portcode.reg which I managed to fix this in Windows 7.

  • Hardware problem potential keyboard T410

    Hi all

Since yesterday I was faced with a problem with my T410, which is potentially due to

a problem of material with the keyboard.

A few specific keys don't work anymore. These seem to be the key to turning the power on, the Fn key.

the Alt Gr key and the ThinkVantage button.

I guess it's a hardware keyboard problem, since I can't use the Power On button for

start the laptop. Fortunately, it is possible using the marketing of the fingerprint reader.

When the laptop is running (using Windows 7) everything works fine, except the cited

buttons. I can't access any functions of the keys (e.g., the reading light) Fn or Alt-Gr symbols (eg.

the symbol that is on my keyboard press 2 @) or power down with the power button.

    I tried various easy fixes:

    * By ensuring all drivers are up-to-date

    * Remove and replace the keyboard

    * Static discharge procedure (unplug all power, 10 presses and holding of 30 sec of power button / stop)

    Check the Bios settings

    * Replace the battery

    * ...

Unfortunately, it has not changed the situation.

I wonder if the simultaneous malfunction of these specific buttons pointing to a certain

hardware problem. I hope a replacement of the keyboard can solve this problem, but it could be a

    problem with the motherboard.

    Advice would be welcome.

    Thank you

    HD

It's hard to say, it could be the motherboard (more unlikely). But more likely it is the keyboard that plays up. The keyboard is least expensive to test for specific problems that you mentioned in the T410, so it's the most cost-effective test for fault case.

  • Problem with keyboard with T410

    Hello

    For your information:

for the last 4 months, I have a T410. The laptop came with pre-installed win7. Currently it runs also Debian Squeeze in dual boot.

    The problem:

In the last few days I have a behavior strange experierenced of the keyboard integrated. The c and e keys d seem to trigger the bad events. e a for example increases the volume, mute d. First of all, the problem is sporadic, so I even if it is caused by dirt or something similar, but currently it is not possible to work on the laptop without an external keyboard (which works fine). I think a bad configuration of the keyboard layout can be deleted, because the behavior is on both systems. Maybe some else has experienced this problem and can help me? I need the laptop for my studies - thus given to maintanance is the worst solution.

    With greetings from the Germany

  • the keyboard functions

I recently replace my T410 to a T450. I have a heavy use of the key between right Alt and Ctrl on the keyboard T410. However, the new portable T450 doesn't have this key. He has been replaced by a print can I know if there is a way for me to have an original the T410 key shortcut, I need to use frequently?

Ah yes! The keyboard can be faster and easier to use than the mouse in certain circumstances. Your ideal solution would be to map the right button of the mouse on the key PrSc. This can be done in two ways:

    (1) edit the Windows registry directly

    (2) to do the job more simply install one of many small programs on the net

Meanwhile, you can get the function key 'Application' by pressing the 'Shift' key, then press the "F10" key (make sure that the locking function is activated). Of couse, it is not as easy as just by pressing the 'Application' on your original T410.

In addition, you can download the T450 from here user guide: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/t450_ug_en.pdf

  • How to close the top of my T410 without going to hibernation?

I have my laptop hooked to my big monitor and a regular keyboard T410 and do not need the laptop screen. I want to be able to close the laptop and put on the side so that I work and it has not automatically hibernate when I closed the top. Is this possible? Please provide the steps. I am somewhat tech savvy.

    Thank you!

Yes, there is a setting in the power manager that indicate that the laptop should do when you close the lid. However, there is a potential problem with that - a build-up of heat.

  • T410 AiO customer CAPS, NUM, and scroll keyboard stop does not work with PCoIP view desktop computers

We have problems with our t410 AiO customers, where the CAPS, NUM and scroll stop lights on the keyboard do not work with view PCoIP desktop computers.

I found the below information and a work around:
If you use the Protocol PCoIP to display on a client system Ubuntu 10.04, the CAPS Lock, NUM Lock, and Scroll Lock lights on your keyboard do not work with desktop view. Although the lights do not work, the keys themselves work.
Solution: Set the following configuration in a configuration file, such as/etc/vmware/config:
    mks.keyboard.useXkbSetNamedIndicator = 'TRUE '.

The problem is this difficulty is already in place via the latest version of the HP, Z6A440, software that is installed within our Organization.

What I discovered, is that the model that we initially bought for the test doesn't have this problem.  However, the models that we ordered since that time, DO have the problem and the solution above does not work as expected.

The model originally ordered for test is still a customer of IOA t410... but there are 4 "under models' for customers of IOA t410... that we have to test is a H2W20AA, while those we receive and distribution are the H2W21AA model.

No idea why, when connected to the desktop from view, that models of H2W21AA have this problem?

H2W20AA is with Teradici PCoIP optimized, which can support PCoIP better, but H2W21AA is not with Teradici. That's the difference.

However, the issue that you are experiencing does not matter in fact, we have not heard of this problem before. I would suggest that you do the following to see if there is no change:

    1. Go to download the latest VMware View 2.3.4 for t410, follow the instructions to install.
    2. If suggestion 1 does not work for you, try to connect to another VM group or set up a new machine virtual clean
    3. Call HP service center to save your problem for further investigation if the suggestion above did not work

  • T410 doesn't start, white screen and the keyboard does not power on.

Hi, my laptop Lenovo T410 does not start. I hit the power button and looks like it is about to start. The thinklight flashes on as normal, the cd drive is checked, the caps lock on, then nothing/button blinks. No display and the keyboard does not respond. Power led lights up; If I leave it awhile the fan turns on. Can I stop the machine using the power button, but the problem remains the next time I turn it on.

I tried to remove power and battery, power 10 button time then with the power to 30 seconds, before replacing the power supply and the battery but nothing happens. I tried to use a different keyboard. I tried to plug in an external monitor. No change.

This problem appeared after I left it on overnight. I have the feeling that it entered into hybernation mode, perhaps, and that it disturbed some important functions which he could not complete. Not sure if. Any help gratefully received.

    Thank you very much

    Pete

It's the original configuration of your laptop:

    ThinkPad T410 2522BF1
    i5 - 520 M (2.4 GHz), 4 GB RAM, 160 GB 7200 RPM HD, 14.1 in. LCD 1280 x 800, Intel 5700MHD, DVD, Intel 802.11agn Wireless Modem, 1 Gb Ethernet, UltraNav smart, secure, camera, 6 c Li-ion, Win7 Pro 32

I firstly the LCD cable or secondary LED could be damaged, but if you don't see anything on an external monitor I tend to think it's a motherboard problem.

Last thing you could try putting running a Live Distro Linux from a CD/DVD or USB drive, using Ubuntu or Linux Mint, for example.

  • Keyboard broken on T410

I broke 2 keys on my Lenovo T410 recently and I will try to find replacement keys or even a new keyboard to replace the broken one, although I seem to be unable to find a dealer in Switzerland who can provide Lenovo keyboards. Tried to call the Hotline but when invited to press 1 or 2 it did not work (tried several times and on multiple calls) and then the call disconnects. Can someone tell me a dealer of keyboard in Switzerland? TX

Normally when I have Thinkpad go I was able to get the parts off Ebay or ricardo.ch

  • T410 CTRL key does not work after update BIOS to 1.45 (German keyboard)

    Dear community,

I updated the BIOS of my TP T410 (2522), German keyboard, to 1.45. After the update, both CTRL keys don't work anymore. Ditto for the AltGr key. When I switch to CTRL FN in the FN key BIOS - as supposed - works like the CTRL key. But when I turn off again the FN returns to his good funtion and CTRL does not work.

When I connect an external keyboard via USB it works perfectly.

Any suggestions how get the CTRL key works again?

    Best regards, Simon

    Hello

  • T410 and T420 keyboard and touchpad not working is not windows 7

    Hi guys,.

hope you can help me with this. I have a really strange behavior, I have to say...

I received a T410 and worked two days on this subject. A desk, I moved to another location and worked for a few hours. After lunch, I started again the machine, but the touchpad or the keyboard does not work. If I connect a pointer through the USB port on the computer, the pointer is working, keyboard unfortunately not.

Ok. Installed new Admins. I worked one day, the next morning, same problem. Well, back to the admins, reinstalling. Once again, for two days, I was able to work without any problems. So as it happened the third time admins decided to provide me with a new hardware: I received a T420. I worked with this week without any error.

At Christmas, I took the mobile home. I had worked with him for an hour. I used a pointer USB bluetooth wireless. No problems so far.

I went to the office this morning a guess what? Same problem with regard to the T410: startup of Windows but the touchpad and kayboard does any work!

What I don't have? In my opinion nothing special:

    (1) to start the machine

    (2) pointer added

    (3) connected via WIFI network at home (Home-network application settings)

    (4) packed the laptop in my suitcase and fled.

    (5) back in the office connected to the network via LAN, connected via VGA for monitor, usb keyboard, added pointer.

What this may be? I want to say that I am able to destroy for different machines! Only town is Windows 7 and T4xx series...

    Any idea?

    Yes! Found round!

The problem is that I changed my mouse setting in Control Panel. I received a message asking me about uninstalling the driver for the touchpad. I clicked on "Yes" and restard after he is blocked.

A friend had the same problem he's changed the setting from the touchpad.

I reinstalled the driver, now I only get the message more and I can change my settings. After restarting doesn't always work.

  • Keyboards of permutation of Lenovo T410

I recently received a T410, the only problem, the keyboard is French. Is it possible for me to physically replace the keyboard with a United States one? If it is possible where you can buy these keyboards. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes you can, you can get them on ebay.

  • Automatic startup on t410 problem

We have recently implemented a citrix VDI in a server of the box and have created several virtual machines. The virtual machine is running without problems.

To connect to the virtual machine, we use hp smart client type t410. These seem to work when "logon" is pressed manually on the citrix receiver well.

Some clients are however, simply lie being "spectators". This means that there is no mouse or keyboard connected. So what I need is the client lightweight hp smart to connect to the virtual machine automatically.

In the hp customer profile, there is an option 'autostart' under the root/ConnectionType/xen/connections / [ID] /. But when I set this option to 1, the client tries to start the virtual machine (he says that the virtual machine load), but shortly after, it seems that citrix receiver is blocked (I see the HP logo and citrix receiver is back on the login page).

I tried a lot of combinations of registry settings, but none seems not to work. Also the autostart parameter accepts values from 0 to 5, but it says anywhere what is the difference between 1 and 5. Could I be on? Should I go home from another angle? Maybe it's a known bug in the hp receiver client or citrix?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Apparently the problems were caused by the autoLaunchSingleApp parameter (although I'm not sure why).

By using the following parameters does autoStart works correctly:

    autoLauncheSingleApp = 0

    autoStartDesktop = 1

    autoStart = 1

Also set the domain and credentials are required.

(all the above mentioned are under the root/ConnectionType/xen/connections / [ID] /)

  • T410s - what happened to the fan?

    Hello world

The fan in my T410s had been very noisy until several days ago. I hit the keyboard above the fan area and it was really, really hot, so I closed the laptop. When I turned, I saw "FAN ERROR" on the black screen. I decided to stop it again and turn it back on. Then it started as so normal - all as usual. However, I noticed immediately that there is NOT MORE no fan noise, and what is more, I do not think any hot air forced out the cases where the fan is located. Other that those 2 things, everything seems to be normal.

What has happened to the fan? Anyone know? What should I do?

    Thank you very much

Download the software from above. You just need to install it. Let it in BIOS mode, then check the value of RPM of the fan from the CPU temperature.

  • T410 stops no more

    Hello world

I have a T410 with Win7 (x 64) at work and on the following problem: it's not stopped. More specific: Windows stops, the screen goes black, but the fan works always... the laptop is still on. To start again, I have to first press the power button for a few seconds (so it stops really), I can start it.

I used Lenovo ThinkVantage tools to update everything, cleaned the registry... still the same problem. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Tim.

OK... for the record: problem solved!

A Lenovo technician changed the motherboard (in 20 minutes!) and now everything works fine. But: I can't say what kind of malefunction keyboard has...

The only thing that really surprised me is that it has not used any new thermal paste when reinstalling the cpu? He said: "it is enough paste left"... true?
