know the background applications

How will I know who & how many applications are running in the background?

This can be a simpler answer than what you're looking for, but just use the application switcher function in the menu on the home screen.

    Test Simulator with JDE version 5.0. I work at the request of the alarm. So I created a background application, where I look in the database and perform the necessary task vibrant just the phone. I have another point with nongui param. Its works fine. Now the problem is, I set an alarm for once, now is the time and the alarm goes off and the user he repeated for 10 minutes, average while I just still run my application in the menu of the eclipse without closing the Simulator, I was expecting that the alarm that was repeated should get fired, but it won't. the problem always occurs when I run the application without closing the Simulator. So what can be the reason for this, and if I just closed Simulator and run it from the eclipse menu its new working fine means repeated when time comes it vibrates the Simulator can someone explain me what are the problem here.

    Do not disable not either sorry here...

    Your code looks fine.

    You can run this code too early.  You probably need to wait until the device is completely upward before you check this:

  • How to show the background application

    Hello

    I want to follow an alert in my application when the application is in the background.

    I tried with this code: -.

    Alert: AlertDialog var = new AlertDialog();

    Alert.title = "alert";

    Alert.message = 'Notification '.

    alert.addButton ("Cancel");

    alert.addButton ("Show");

    alert.dialogSize = DialogSize.SIZE_SMALL;

    alert.addEventListener (Event.SELECT, alertButtonClicked);

    Alert.Show ();

    But it does not show the alert outside the application.

    But on further research on the web, I had found earlier than alert.show (IowWindow.getAirWindow .group ()); will allow the alert to be strictly within the application. Is this means that show() alert will generate alerts in the foreground, even when the application is in the background?

    Also, I want to put the application in the foreground when you press the button display. is it possible

    That is to say, the application state must be changed programmatically to 'normal '.

    Please help me

    Thanks in advance

    Looking for QNXSystemPowerMode to learn more about how to run your application even when it is in the background.

    Note, however, that if you do it wrong, you're going to drain the battery too fast and no one will want to use your application.  Do not set up just to sit in THROTTLED mode all the time if, for example, you want to just check a timer and do something later.  There are ways to use this very effective stuff, if you spend the time to learn.

    In addition, with regard to the "bring programmatically the app in the foreground", it is not possible unless you use a dialog box modal system (in other words, what you get with alert.show (()) just does it automatically.

    And it's probably a good thing... If I installed an app which itself has jumped to the forefront, becomes the active application, I would probably uninstall it immediately.  After all, how do you know that what the user is doing is not more important to him that no matter what your application wants to report?  It might be in the middle of a game, or give a presentation, or else where he does not want your application is throwing in the view.

    The same goes for using the 'modal system' form of the dialog as well.  I highly recommend that you not use it.  I believe that it is really only meant for critical problems of the system, such as the lack of flash memory or memory, and you will notice that it is not even use it to the situation of the latter.  (It might not for low flash either... I've never tried still get there.)

    If you want to attract the attention of the user, using a sound index (for now, the way that only acceptable, in my humble OPINION) or wait until the Notifications feature is documented and fully available for us.  That do the little "red flash" appears in the upper left corner and display a notification in the tray (top left corner) as well as how the PlayBook is currently app updates are available in the App World.

    If you insist on the use of the modal approach of the system, I would be very interested to learn what is the use case, as so far, I do not think that someone has described one that would generally be considered a valid use of this API, for most users.

    Finally, if you don't use a modal system, consider to give the user a way to disable it, as in your settings menu.

  • How to call BlackBerryContactList.choose () of the background application

    I am facing a problem while call BlackBerryContactList.choose () to background application (process) nothing happens.

    Below is the code

    List of BlackBerryContactList = (BlackBerryContactList) PIM.getInstance () .openPIMList (PIM. CONTACT_LIST, PIM. READ_WRITE);
    Choose PIMItem = list.choose ();

    When you call a user interface application works well, but even does not work when the application background.

    Please help me...

    This dialog works separately from your Application.  It is not actually a part of your Application.  It is a Global screen.  It works very well.

    But to use the dialog to choose, I think you should return control in your application, and as you've found, I think that you need to bring your application to the foreground in order to ensure that he choose the dialog box is displayed.  This means that you have to run a UiApplication, not a request.

    To make sure that it can request not bought to the forefront accidentally, you can set acceptsForeground() to false.

    But when you want to use the Choose dialog box, you will need to have this method returns true and then put your Application in the foreground.  When you get the answer to choose, you can set it to false and again take your application in the background.

    I suggest while you develop it you just create a UiApplication standard and make it work like that.  Then try to simulate an application by adjusting the acceptsForeground() at the right times.

    Since your application will in fact be a UiApplication, I suggest you have a too associated screen.  A simple splash screen will do.

    I hope this helps.

    PS > there is a small chance that you can requestForeground on your Application when you call the method of choice and it appears.  Try it.  But I will not be surprised if it fails.

  • I want to open the background app after clicking the ok button in the alert illustrated?

    I have an application I have let down in the background.

    After awhile, I show an alert for help:

    synchronized(Application.getEventLock()){
                            UiEngine ui = Ui.getUiEngine();
                            Screen screen = new Dialog(Dialog.D_OK, "Alert!", Dialog.OK
                                                        , Bitmap.getPredefinedBitmap(Bitmap.EXCLAMATION), Manager.VERTICAL_SCROLL);
                            ui.pushGlobalScreen(screen, 1, UiEngine.GLOBAL_QUEUE);
    }

    After this code, I add this, but the background application opens instantly, no waiting user click on the ok button:

    UiApplication.getApplication().requestForeground();

    How can I take the app in the foreground after the user clicks the ok button?

  • HowTo send the browser to the background (ApplicationMenuItem)

    I have the following scenario:

    Application screen A, x

    --> called a browser with the URL session where an image is displayed

    works well

    Request A, x screen adds an ApplicationMenuItem in the browser

    to make it easy to open some other URL with other images

    Request A, x display also adds an ApplicationMenuItem in the browser,

    to return directly to the screen X application has

    It is uncomfortable if the user performs a work more in the browser-

    then he also has to use 'switch to the application' or hit the

    'return' of many times

    It works well to return to the Application, screen x

    but then if hit 'return' of the x screen it returns to the browser

    but of course, I want to return to the last screen to request A

    so my question: is it possible to move the browser in the background application

    and remove the battery from the screen?

    answered by myself ;-)

    inside the run() to my ApplicationMenuItem I added:

    ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager().runApplication(mainApplicationDescriptor);

    now the browser passed to my request, and the hiotting going back inside my app now works as expected.

    BTW: to get the handle of my app I used

    ApplicationDescriptor.currentApplicationDescriptor()

  • KeyPress events for background application

    Hi all

    I need to develop the following features:

    When a certain key sequence is pressed [say #data #], an application must be called

    The background application can check for such a sequence and start the event.

    However, the question is, if an application can have access to key events when he is not on top of the stack in the user interface. In addition, such a feature may be possible when another application [say a native application such as Message or address book] is running.

    I personally don't think it is possible, however, if someone met an implementation of the similar device or method to achieve, then it would be really great.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Basilio J V Souza

    This is possible if the user interface for your application is in the foreground.  If this is the case, you can use this technique:

    Use a sequence of backdoor

    I have a revolution with Firefox OS version GeeksPhone: 1.3.0.0 - prerelease. The default calendar app, I searched on the market, but I have not found it.
    I slipped between screens, but there is no calendar icon. It seems if I search "Calendar" in the section "research" of the first screen but I can't go out of the section "research".

    Thank you

    Hi Flops,

    You should not be able to remove an application from system like the calendar in the same way that users can remove applications downloaded on the market.

    After reviewing the information you provided, we believe that the best way to solve this problem would be to reset your device.

    Warning: Resetting your phone will remove all data stored on the device, including applications, data from the calendar, e-mail accounts and settings.

    To reset the device, follow these instructions:

    1. Open the

      Application settings .

    2. Press the button of device information .

  • How do I know what process should run in the background of a HP Pavilion a1020n desktop computer

    There are a lot of processes running in the background of my office, and the amount of memory used varies from 0% to 100%.  Seriously, this affects the performance of my pc, especially if I'm trying to run multiple applications at the same time.  Is there a list of the process 'default' which must be running, and if so, where can I find such a list?

    As I do, that's if you close all the programs that you know how to close there should be only 50-60 process depending on the operating system that you do not specify.

    From there on, organize the task by using the memory manager. Can google those using memory that you want to disable or learn more about.

  • Running the background (sms listening thread) connected to the GUI (another point of entry) application thread

    Hi, I'm new to the development of Blackberry, I read everything on the application running at startup and have a different point of entry for this application. I still need help with my application

    I use BB JDE 4.7

    Simulator: BB 9530 4.7.0

    I'm developing an application of SMS. (extends UiApplication)

    1) there is a thread that listens for incoming messages

    2) there is a wire which is a SMS sender

    3) there is a main screen and two full screens. for example, when the user clicks a button in one of the screens full... I send you a message

    (4) when a message is received, based on the content of the message I push either a full screen

    (5) I have, all the wires and screens as the class internal to the main class that extends from the UiApplication.

    I got the basic features. I need help making that demand the application of autostartup

    (1) I need to start listening to the sms thread when the BB phone starts

    (2) I need to have the application icon in the applications screen as another entry point for the application (only for the GUI), and the listening thread must remain active in the background.

    (3) when an incoming message is detected, the application GUI should be brought to the foreground (if it isn't already forground) after posting a popup (instead of bring the application to the foreground, is it better to display a flashing icon in the status bar of the home screen blackberry and perhaps global popup)

    (4) when the GUI of the application part is closed, I need to stop the sms sending thread, and when the system shuts down, I need to stop the listening thread.

    Please help me guys... I have read many articles and discussions regarding the automatic start-up of applications, another point of entry, the # of background threads...

    but I couldn't find how to implement my needs.

    (1) should I need to create two different projects (applications [GUI thread, a sender] and one for the listening thread)? or I can achieve in single application?

    (2) should I have to sign in the background thread to the GUI app? If so, how?

    (3) it is necessary to use the RunTimeStore object? If so, I don't know how I can bring to the foreground the application GUI of the background thread.

    (4) if I have to stop the thread of listening by overiding onExit() method, the important question I have is, if the onExit() method is only for applications that extends from the Application class and not for the UiApplication class?

    (5) if I should have two projects (one main and the other as a spare point entry), which project should I do as "autorun at startup" and a "system module".

    As I need to have the background still running thread when the GUI application is active. I don't know how I do.

  • HomeScreen.updateIcon updates the bad background application

    I have an application with two entry points. A single point of entry runs as a background application to listen to calendar changes. When the Exchange Calendar I need to change my icon on the home screen to the GUI of my app app part. However, if I am in another application when the event occurs, the current application has its icon has changed.

    I know that there is another version of updateIcon() in 4.7, but how do I handle this in older versions of the operating system?

    Use a global event to send a message to your Application that the calendar has changed.  Your application can then some he wants, including the amendment of the application icon.

  • When an application is in the background, it can do something? :

    When an application is in the background, he can listen to specific events (i.e. backlightStateChange), but is there a way so that it can proceed with treatment of low priority, or something of the poll?

    For example, if I want to make an app that keeps the backlight on, I can't use backlightStateChange in SystemListener, because it is only triggered after the backlight is turned off - that is to say after this gradual long melted in a recent operating system.  If I wanted to keep on, either, I have to keep the call Backlight.enable (true) - I couldn't not do when the application is in the background - or else I have to predict when it will stop and schedule a timer or invokeLater for just before the time-out period and reset the timer of the backlight.

    What I found is that when an application is in the background, its clocks are frozen - it cannot enforce a TimerTask or a passable invokeLater, at least that's how it seems from what I have to try.  I could do a scheduleApplication, but that only has calendar wave (resolution of 1 minute more or less), so it wouldn't be useful to have an app question something in the system, every 10 seconds or that does not have a specific listener, i.e. in the example of lighting is no listener for an imminent expiration time, that actually happened.

    The BlackBerry is supposed to be multi-tasking, so how to I can not get an application to run at all in the background?  No possible demon?  What did I miss?

    Thank you

    Hello

    I did some experiments with background applications in the emulator. My findings are different from yours.  I'm including them below:

    1. when an application moves in the background, he is able to do the following:

    -Schedule timer jobs that do not access the user interface.

    -o file

    -perform any related processing no UI, including any floating point calculations.

    I have no t try invokeLater Runnable. But I think I know it shouldn't work since

    the object to be executed in case of thread, this method calls annexes.  When an application is in the background, it doesn't have access to the user interface. Thus, invokeLater.Runnable is a no-op for her.

  • Lag when another application is running in the background

    Hello

    IM, building an application with Flash which strongly relies on the transformation of 3DMatrix

    My application runs smooth and hits a framerate of 30 frames per second, so this isn't the problem.

    The problem is that when I switch to another application, Angry Birds for example, and then switch back, my application gets horrible lag.

    The only thing that helps is to kill the other application that is running in the background.

    I use Air 2.6, but the same thing happened when I was using the REIT

    Did anyone here know how to solve this problem, or why this happens?

    Thank you!

    -Edit - it's on iPad

    Hey there all,

    If I had tried all week with 2.6 and thought I understood, but this discussion completely helped.

    I had been cacheAsBitmap parameter to true for items in my screen and saw some gains performance - 20 fps at 27, my FPS is set to 30). the problem was that all the background apps caused late major development of animation during the test on the ipad. LOW quality setting back me at 30 fps (even 60 fps), but some of my rotated bimtaps suffered in Visual quality.

    I just went back inside and cacheAsBitmap set to false for all the items on the screen that I have tested and while the performance returned to 20 fps max, it is very regular and don't lag when other applications are in the background. I noticed that even if I only hide the context item, I start to see stuttering if there are background running applications.

    It seems as if you are not dynamically bitmaps, and you use just bitmaps, then by setting quality step to LOW and not cached anything (no cacheAsBitmap or cacheAsBitmapMatrix) you can get a solid 60 fps without lag, even when there is background applications.

    you will see also much faster additions of items to the list of display when caching is not enabled.

    for 3d, is the only thing I can think is that you cannot forcibly turn off cachAsBitmap, then you could try making it to an another bitmap and use this new bitmap to the screen. I think that as long as you don't add all cached items to the display list, you can see the performance you want.
