L50-B-1NL satellite keyboard backlight

Hello

I just got this laptop for Christmas, and I'm unable to turn on the backlight for the keyboard? I tried Google, which plans to use the FN key, but it does not work for me.

This model offers backlit keyboards, and if so, how do I turn it on?

Thank you very much

Ian

Hello

I m not 100% sure, but I think that your laptop is not lighting of keyboard. Each notebook with a symbol keyboard light keyboard on the Z key. You can see on your machine?

Machines with lighting of keyboard have ON / OFF option in the BIOS and the utility function of the key.
Check it out.

Turn on the device, press F12
Now you should see a Start Menu screen.

Access the HARD drive recovery menu and choose troubleshoot
Then Advanced Options and auto repair

If that doesn't work, reset the PC (will remove all files and set the notebook to factory settings)

  • Satellite U940 - backlight on the keyboard in Linux

In addition to Windows 8, I installed Linux Mint 14 cinnamon on my Satellite U940-101 (now I have a sort of dual boot by activating the UEFI option in Bios power switch). Everything works fine, except for the lighting of the keyboard under Linux.

According to other forums, the only possibility to activate the backlight is to disable ACPI in the Bios. The problem is that in the Bios of the U940-101 (Bios Version 1.20), there is no option, at least I'm not and there is also that no Bios update available yet.
Does anyone know how to activate the backlight of the keyboard in these circumstances?

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, keyboard backlight is controlled by the specific tool of Toshiba and it is designed for Windows operating system only, so I put t think that the BIOS update will or can help you with this.

  • Upgrade memory on Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1NL

Yesterday, I bought the Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1NL of argos. It came with 4 GB of RAM. I want to upgrade to 8 GB. Does anyone can help with the upgrade process. Will also be empty RAM level warranty.

    Concerning
    SD

I m not L50 - B owner but I guess that there is no separate access to the modules of memory at the bottom of the unit.
    Right?

In this case its necessary to remove the plastic cover of the bottom and this will definitely void the warranty!

If you want to keep the warranty valid, don t update the RAM yourself.
This must be done by an authorized technician.

    Hello

    You should check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=233069

You will find great shots of keyboard backlight and some information
You should check if the motherboard supports an additional connector called JBLG and is located on the right side of the connector of the main keyboard.
If it is available, then you can update the device with a supported keyboard backlight.

Hope I could help a little

  • Satellite P500-12D - keyboard backlight?

Hi there recently bought by Satellite P500-12D and thought he had a backlit keyboard.

I know that the touch screen on the left turns, but on all comments, images, and videos I've seen of this laptop keyboard has the function to be light from below with the same white color as the other witnesses on the laptop.

Unfortunately, I do not know how to turn it on?
So either I am wrong and it doesn't have a backlit keyboard or im just unable to find.

Could someone tell me please how to activate this feature.
    Any help is very appreciated,

    Thank you.

    Hello

Not all laptops the keyboard backlight feature supported.

If your keyboard would support the backlight then you should see a tiny keyboard sign Z button.

Then you may activate it using the FN + Z button.

But if there is no keyboard icon and then the keyboard does not support the backlight.

  • SATA on Satellite L50-B-1NL speed

I would like to replace the 1 TB of HARD drive on my Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1NL with an SSD. How fast is the SATA interface?

It will use most of the SATA 3?
    Thank you

I think that the laptop supports the HM86 Chipset Mobile Intel as well as Intel Core i3 4005U processor
    Could you confirm this?

According to the Intel ARK page, the chipset supports 4-port SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA 3).
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/75531

I think that the HARD disk controller should support the SATA 3
Anyway, you can check this by using a tool like Sisoft SANDRA or Everest Home Edition freeware

  • Satellite L50-B-1NL - how to disable tap-to-click on the touchpad?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1NL running on Windows 8.1. I am trying to turn off the tap to click on the touchpad, option I think it's way of sensitive causes increased frustration.

I searched on Google and it says there is an option to turn of the touchpad, but when I go in my option to disable settings, it is the only one missing? Is there a way I can turn off the tap to click as it makes me mental.

If I understand you well want to disable touchpad, right.
You can do this using the combination of keys FN + F5 or F5 key only.

Please open the operating manuals and page 58. It you and find information very useful on the use of the F-keys.

  • Satellite U500-1FN: would like to have a keyboard backlight

    Hello

I have this model u500-1fn without keyboard backlight...
If I buy a keyboard backlight for u500 will work?

Hmm, the laptop must support the backlight for the keyboard if you want to use this keyboard.
Under the keyboard there should be a slot in order to attach the cable from the keyboard backlight.
If it is available then you should be able to use this theory

But I read also some threads here in the forum and in many cases this didn t work even as the keyboard backlight backlight was used

What did you do exactly? Have you installed original Toshiba recovery image?

Anyway, if I m remembering well the option for keyboard backlight is available in Toshiba HWsetup Toshiba HWsetup tool and check all tabs. One of them must be for lighting.
