  I can't turn on the (failed to start Service ICS) firewall in windows xp sp2 wrote his lack a file "svchost", but there are other services running

  using the same file. It was working until I installed Microsoft Security Essentals

  Requirements for the MSE claim to only have XP SP3 . In the absense of any built-in MSE third firewall really with the Windows Firewall to turn it on, if not already enabled. Time to upgrade to SP3.

  I am running SP3 Windows XP Prof, Firefox 28 and Windows Firewall.

  I recently noticed that Firefox is 'slow' loading and connection to Web sites.

  I checked the 'Exceptions' list in the Windows Firewall, but Mozilla Firefox did not appear. Why Windows Firewall application doesn't have access during the installation of Firefox? Internet Explorer was not either and that my original browser browser and becomes 'slow', that's why I changed to Firefox.

  Moreover, since 'Add' and 'give permission' for Firefox, it runs a lot faster.

  Because of the informative posting, I would say you should ask Microsoft why you aren't able to open the firewall settings.

  If you're ready for a serious debate please let us know which mode of laptop you have, which OS is preinstalled it and which antivir application you use.

• Why my Windows Firewall keep turn off briefly?

  I just launched a recovery on Pavilion Media Center TV m7470n desktop my father, which has restored XP Media Edition 2005 SP2. I then installed SP3 and use Windows Update to get the latest updates. The system now works fine, but from time to time, I get a popup notification that says that the Windows Firewall is disabled. The popup balloon quickly and when I enter the Security Center Windows Firewall appears as on.   Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support.  I understand that you can not connect to web services on your LaserJet Pro M127fw printer.

  Please define Manual of the printer an IP address manually and DNS servers.  The steps on how to proceed can be found as "three Solution: the printer of the assign a static IP address" in the document of printer is not maintaining the wireless connection .  For the DNS primary please use 209.244.0.3 and auxiliary DNS, use 209.244.0.4.  These are public DNS servers of Level3.

  Please let me know the results.

  This is the first time I see that the windows firewall is disabled and when I try to turn the action center it shows like below. then when I click on manual settings it shows as the second screen.

  I tried to install the updates from HP, but it shows again a red alert in the Security State, see below.

  Currently, using Quick heal Total security and it is valid for 3 years.

  4 HP ENVY laptop - operating system: Windows 7 Home Basic 64 - bit Service Pack 1

  As you have difficulties to turn the firewall please find the steps below to resolve this issue.

  Perform the following steps and install automatic updates and then try to turn on the firewall.

  Run an online scan to check any virus or any other malicious software:

  Run as Administrator Security Center;
  http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/understanding-security-and-safe-computing

  Perform the following steps and update the computer:

  1. click on start, type Notepad in the start search box, and then click Notepad in the list programs.

  2 copy the following text, and then paste the text into Notepad:

  start wuauserv sc config = auto

  SC config bits start = auto

  SC config start = auto DcomLaunch

  net stop wuauserv

  net start wuauserv

  net stop bits

  net start bits

  net start DcomLaunch

  Click file, click Save as, and then type Repair.bat.

  3. in the file type box, click all files (*. *).

  4. in the save box, click Desktop, and then click Save.

  5. in the file menu, click on exit.

  6. right - click on the Repair.bat file that you saved in step 5, and then click Run as administrator. This action starts the required services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

  7. try again to install updates. If you install the updates, delete the file Repair.bat. To remove the file Repair.bat, right-click Repair.bat, click on remove and then click Yes.

  ·         Try to activate the firewall after these steps.
