  • 10 Windows start menu bug-Predator G9-591

    Hello acer community,

I seem to have this bug on my windows 10 pro. It happened when I got home too. Whenever I press the start menu, it shows the normal color, I chose, after I press something on it, as all applications or power, it goes darker. If I move my mouse over the start menu it goes even darker. I tried to restore it and others.

Please y at - it solution

Finally, I found a solution to your problem. No need to reset factory no need to full reinstall. The problem comes from your Intel HD graphics driver, does not solve the problem in my old laptop se I just disabled the 3D settings without knowing this would fix it. As you use the integrated graphics card which means the correction might also work for you also. Go to intel hd graphics control panel and then turn off the 3D settings. I have no graphics built-in so I can't show you which setting, you must turn off exactly, but the first start by disabling all the and if it does start turning on one by one to see exactly one must be turned off.

Also update the Intel HD graphics driver to the latest version.

  • What happened to my show desktop icon in the Quick Start menu when I upgraded to Firefox 4?

I value and often use the button SHOW DESKTOP which has always been in my QUICK START MENU... until I recently upgraded to the latest version of Firefox because he promised to be faster (and my experience online in spite of paying for "high speed" is anything but fast!). I see that the icon was not just moved but DELETED and I'm not at all happy about it. What happened and how I get it back? Thank you. (By the way, I don't want a fancy with a bunch of words irritable instructions. I need the answer in a format that can follow a student of 1st year. (Thank you.)

You can create a new shortcut easily enough. Just drag it into the Quick Launch bar on with the right mouse button and then choose "Create shortcut here" from the menu you get.

  • HP ENVY 17 Leap Motion SE: Dual boot Windows 10 with 8.1 - Start menu screen does not always watch.

I bought the full version of Windows 10 House because I want to keep my factory installed Win 8.1 x 64 and dual boot with the new OS.

Installation went without problems - on a partition separated after the reduction of the C: partition by default, but when I restart my PC, start menu does not always appear for make me decide which system to choose and the computer boots directly to Windows 8.1.  I even turned off "time to display list of operating systems" when Windows 10 is selected by default OS, but when I turn off my PC for a short period and put back on, I am greeted by Windows 8.1

Could be a bios or partition related question? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

The start menu is not displayed, but at least the OS startup time is faster.

    Hello

Thank you for posting this and for letting me know it now works for you (which is acceptable to you).

In fact, what you describe above is not a bug, but it should. This is because Microsoft has changed a bit the boot process and the stop function since Win 8 (which means Windows 8, 8.1 and now 10). Instead of the stop full as in Windows XP, Vista, 7, Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 (when he is chosen to turn off) will stop, but closing them is a kind of hibarnation. For this reason, what describe you above is going on (he begins the latest OS because it was really completely out).  Full done restart restarts and it meets the place where the OS is selected.

    More information-> http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/how-windows-8-hybrid-shutdown-fast-boot-feature-works/

This mode ensures a faster start-up (on cause of so-called half restart).

A workaround for this (works on Win 8, 8.1 and should also work on Win 10):

  • Windows 7 taskbar and start menu large icons are either missing (empty by default) or do not show the right program.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium on an AMD Athlon (TM) II X 4 630 2.80 GHz with 6.0 GB of RAM (64 bit OS). PC is up-to-date with the latest updates and use Norton Anti Virus.

I used this PC for several months with no problems. After doing some research in my menu of the taskbar Windows Explorer and start icons have become corrupted. The links always work but do not show the right program.

I tried several things to fix this. I removed everything in the start menu and taskbar, rebooted, added a few back but the problem still exists. I deleted the icon cache file (renamed to db.old), restarted, problem still exist. I made a recovery of a checkpoint system before the problem was still not fixed. When I go to small icons, the problem disappears. The problem only seems to appear when you use large icons in the bar of tasks and the start menu.

Based on what I've tried so far is there any other suggestions on how to fix this?

This tutorial is to rebuild the icon cache when the cache is corrupt.

    Option One is easier.

  • My Start Menu shows all files, when I click on the button "all folders".

I was recently clean my laptop from programs & I no longer use records & uninstall unused programs. One day, while removing some unnecessary files in the Start Menu, the menu suddenly got rid of all items & records, even the Accessories folder. I tried a system restore to go back & fix the problem, but Windows will not end the function, it says cannot change the files/folders.
My main focus now on what I can't find one of my regular maintenance programs or other programs, such as calculator, which I use daily. Is it possible to restore these files, or possibly be able to find & manually add of these return programmes?

Check the Recycle Bin to see if the folders are there - then you can add them to C:\Users\\Start Menu.  Another option is to add in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu for C:\Users\\Start Menu and who should fill up your Start menu.  If the Start Menu folder is already filled, then see the next paragraph.  But I think this process works in your situation and I would give it a try.  C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start menu is empty if you really have a problem (I don't know how you would have deleted this file in the start - menu which should not be possible) and you will have to do it manually as described in paragraph 3 below.

If the records are not in the trash, try to connect as a different user and see if you can get a start menu.  If you can, treat this situation as a corrupt user profile.  To fix this use http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile.  If that is the only available Administrator Profile and you can't use it to do this (you need to be an administrator to fix this), enable the Hidden Administrator Account (HAA) using http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords&p=1&tid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055&mid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055.  If you don't remember the password, try nothing because that's probably what you (or seller) did during the installation.  Once that is done, don't forget to disable the HAA to save it in case it is necessary once again and for safety reasons (since people often try to hack into systems using this account).  Do NOT use the HAA as your administrator account because if you lose the only administrator on the system account or it is damaged again, then you're watered.

Of course, you can always add them manually to C:\Users\\Start Menu by searching the executable files for the programs that you want in the start menu (it is true that a daunting task as they could be almost anywhere, and it is difficult to remember all of the programs that you have installed).  Unfortunately, if you deleted the main folder of the Menu start then there is really no choice other than a facility repair/upgrade of the system (which can give you the icons associated with Windows, but probably not the ones you have installed).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work (at least partially).  He should at least bring your Accessories folder.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

    I hope this helps.  Good luck! Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

  • HP Pavilion 6510: Start Menu Shut Down tab always indicates that the updates are available

The Shut Down on the start menu tab always indicates that there ae updates available.  This persists even after manually searching for and downloading updates.

Then Microsoft Fixit has been executed, the computer has restarted, and 5 updates have been installed.  But the start menu still indicates that there are updates available.

    This could be the cause?

How this should be dealt with?

  • Cannot restore my laptop-"Repair my computer" not appearing is not in the start menu

Once or twice in the past had to get my phone and it was an easy process thanks to the construction recovery option (computer repair) in the start menu (when you press F8 on the Toshiba screen), but now when I press F8 during the Toshiba screen and go to the boot options, there is no option to fix my computer. Fix my computer is usually the first option, but the first option is now "Start Windows in safe mode". Fix my computer disappeared! :(

I think that the cause of my problem is that I started my laptop using my friend's windows startup disk when my computer would not start a month back. In fact, he got my laptop going again, but after starting my laptop, he told me that there is a problem with the start and he asked if I would like to repair and restart, I did. In addition, the windows startup disk, I used to start my laptop computer is a 64-bit version and my laptop has a 32-bit operating system. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Could someone please help me by letting me know if there is anything I can do to get "Repair my computer" back. It is handy recover my computer when I want to just go back and get my laptop clocked in so it is better again.

    Short answer:
There is nothing you can do about it except to include adjustments to plant again. I'm sorry. :(

    Hello

    1. what changes have been made to your computer before the problem?

Follow these steps and check if they help.

    Step 1:

I would say you rebuild the icon cache and check if the problem persists.

    a. press the keyboard Windows logo key combination + R to bring up the Run dialog box.
    b. type cmd and press ENTER to open the command prompt window.
    c. in the command prompt window, type the following commands pressing ENTER after each line:
    Taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
    attrib-h "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\IconCache.db.
    del "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\IconCache.db.
    Explorer.exe

    d. this restart Windows Explorer and rebuild the cache icons as needed.

    Step 2:

Test the issue in a new user account.

An unknown error during system restore 0 x 80070002 (used a different restore point and it worked)

BIOHD 4 error code (this appeared on two occasions however, the computer starts with F4 in the start menu)

There were no additions to the computer for several months, however there was a power outage that shut down computer just before it started.

When the computer starts up goes to the first blue screen when you can press Esc for boot menu, F9 for diagnosis, etc..  The boot then fails and requires a boot disk.

To fix this problem, I used the repair disc and or F8 to access different repair options.  I used the Startup Repair, System Restore, as well as the bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /fixmbr commands.  They have worked to get the computer to start, however, when it came to a reboot I was at square one.  When you use the Startup Repair disk and HD, there would be a report that there are no startup issues or questions start had been repaired but sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldn't.

If the safe is a restart then most of the time it will restart correctly.  However if the computer is stopped for more than a minute it will not start.

I now start the computer by using the ESC key at startup to the top and enter the boot menu. I then use the F4 key to reset the default start menu and the PC starts and works well. The start menu lists first, second HD DVD and the Real tek DXEB03 D00 as third. (Don't know what this is.)

Any helps resolve this, so I don't have to reset the default start at each start menu would be appreciated.
