Laseerjet 5400 - smears and smudges

You just bought a 5400 LJ on Ebay (described as 'good' State of market). But everything is spread out, as shown below.

This image was scanned at 600 x 600 and has been subjected to much tinkering with ImageMagic to reduce it to a resolution to show here. The original shows much more detail, or of course.

Watch how black areas are stained and more the height of the box, the burrs. In addition, the smears are concentrated into vertical columns (i.e. the effect is worse at some horizontal positions than in others). On the original binding is visible much more down the page, with a very special dose in the last inch of the page. In addition, the original, you can detect that the effect is particularly sensitive in repeated each 31 mm horizontal bands, which could be the circumference of the roller of the developer in the cartridge (unless it's the color cartridges that are supposed to have this circumference - the roller on the black cartridge is supposed to be 37 mm).

But finger certainly points to the black ink cartridge, and in addition a squeegee hacked into the cartridge is a known cause of vertical stripes.

BUT I printed exactly the same model in Magenta, Cyan and yellow (remembered that this printer performs 4 sweeps which color of printing in the order K-M-C-Y). And the model Magenta also showed some burrs (not nearly as much), but with his band vertical exactly in the same places as the black version. If the vertical stripes, at least, are not just the cartridge. Cyan was much better (but which was little was also in the same vertical strips). The yellow, but the yellow also showed a few stains Black on top of the yellow blocks, with hints of repetirion to 31 mm. But how could you possibly get black filed on top of yellow when the black cartridge had been away for the previous 3 rounds, and he had certainly not black and cyan and magenta versions. And all three colors showed additional tasks in the last inch of the page (but always in color printing).

For memory, the printer reports 'Remaining life' of 54% for the transfer kit, 100% for the fuser unit and 40% for the drum. I think we can exonerate the fuser unit. The transfer belt perhaps explain additional tasks at the bottom of the page. Maybe the drum (but how?)

While people recommend I should do? Of course, if I replaced all four cartridges more drum and the transfer belt, it will heal surely it - but it's a lot of money to throw at it all both :-(.

No one answered, but I finally solved the problem myself. Nothing to do with bad defective drum cartridges. I have concluded that it MUST just be mechanical Burr somewhere in the front of fuser paper path, because it appeared that patches of color A were deposited on top of color B lower on the page, even if the color had been printed first (remember that this printer has a carousel of cartridges and cycles 4 times on the same page in the order K-M-C-Y).

Review of the paper path showed no obstruction that might have caused this, I turned my attention to the transfer unit. This opening to the top (just a matter of the cancellation of two screws) revealed a full sheet of already partially printed in crumpled paper (I can't imagine how he could get there, but so must be the mother of all paper jams).

So problem solved! Printer now prints perfectly!

    Hello Steven_29,

In order to use switchable graphics, you will need to go to HP.com and download the driver for Windows 8 if it is available.

If this isn't the case, you may need to go back to win7 to use switchable graphics.

I have the above named printer.  I recently installed a new black ink cartridge.  It works fine, but recently I noticed some smearing and smudges of black ink along the right margin of the book, when I print the documents.  It does the same thing if I make a copy.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

There is a document to print quality for the CM1415fnw located here.

  • A1103 new Ram and HARD drive will not start

    Hello.

I have a Mac mini A1103. When I got there the folder flashing with question mark. I got a macbook earlier where this problem was solved by installing a new hard drive. so I ordered a new 160 GB IDE 2.5 "5400 RPM and 1 GB Corsair Valueselect DDR1 333 MHz hoping that this will help me get the mini running and preforming a little better with 512 MB of Ram.

When I boot the mini after swapping ram and hard drive I always see the same flashing folder. I can reset the NVRAM Boot, enter diskmode target? (I think) and the Boot Manager.

When I enter the Boot Manager I can see the following screen

a few times I get to this screen for Open Firmware screen where I can use certain commands such as vram-reset reset-all rebot and so, but sometimes I'm just stuck on this screen.

Anyone have any suggestions on what is wrong and what I can try next? I do not have the boot original dvd but I have a usb bootable with IOS 10.6 and a dvd with IOS 10.6 (not original) but I can't get botting from any of the devices.

A Mac Mini A1103 has a G4 Power PC processor and cannot be greater than 10.5.8. Superior OSX versions require an Intel processor.

In this statement "a usb bootable with IOS 10.6 and a dvd with IOS 10.6 (not original)" I think you mean OSX, not of iOS. You must obtain a copy of the original installation disc which was 10.3 or 10.4 or disk to upgrade to 10.4 or 10.5 full retail. Coverall A1103 all three 2005 models of the Mac Mini G4.

You cannot use a grey disc unless it was delivered with your specific Mac.  Native gray disc with Macs and can not e used on the other model of disc.

You can probably call Apple and order a copy of the original disks

My Satellite A350 (PSAL6A) after only 6 months has crashed with a fatal hard drive.

I ve decided to drive that can reach up to the hard to something a bit faster (5400 RPM) and finally get rid of the dreaded Vista.
I m upgrade to Win 7 (64) but I m somewhat suspicious of some of the web sites offering Toshiba drivers
Y at - there a site where I can download all the drivers I need just to Win 7 and not need to sort the hundreds of others who seem to be available.

    Your question confused me completely.
I'm using the Toshiba years download page and find the right drivers is pretty easy. Choose the right portable model and operating system you want and you will have the complete list of all available drivers.
Why is it so hard for you.

Hi, I got the iphone more 6s online a few days back, he had yellowish display problem, so I sent and asked for replacement, they sent me a replacement today, there new series and display is preferable in this case, but what I leave me puzzled, is that when I went for my iphone replaced from their office they handed me the iphone in the box which had been opened, plastic packaging has been removed and the box has been opened, the charger is new, tbe data cable was one that I had sent back with the previous iphone, the protector on the iphone itself was obviously loose and then applied again as it was very dirty, smeared and had a lot of air bubbles , I was told by the type of reception they had opened the box and iphone to check if she had no problem display so that I do not return once again, when I checked the serial number it was original but had been activated, and when I opened the drawer of sim card, he had someone to another sim card what I want to know is if thats how apple deals with the replaced iphones, unbox them, check them, enable themselves before giving to the person, or if they give sealed nine packaged box iphones?  I do not have store nearby, so I can't ask any guy apple apple

Looks like a weird phone store Gamestop-eqse. (Yah know, where they open all the products just because?)

Apple has features of replacement, but nobody has used before, and they should be sealed when you get one. It seems you have a given phone, which as far as I know, Apple does not unless you specifically buy a device renovated on their part.

This laptop is any size 2.5 "hard drive? Dream of a disk of 7 200 > ~ 100 GB or greater. It has only a fairly slow 40 GB 5400 installed at present.
Also, what type is in these L20 PATA or SATA?

    Hello

I studied a bit and it seems that the laptop supports a HARD 40 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB and 100 GB disk size.
I advise to use disks hard speed 5400 RPM and no 7200 RPM due to the temperature of production
Additional cell phone supports a serial ATA (SATA) interface.

    The drives as:
    MHV2100AH 100 GB
    MHV2080AH 80 GB
    MHV2060AH 60 GB

Data transfer is supported by the speed of 475 Mbit/s and a transfer rate of 100 MB/s (Mode Ultra DMA) interface

Hope that my small list of information will help you...

  • System Restore op after failure of HARD drive and replacement

    Hello

I have an old laptop dv9000 with XPPro factory installed SP2, since upgraded to SP3. The hard drive failed (Seagate 80Gig). I checked with the test of the bios Setup, he said "fail" and I checked by booting from the windows installation disc CD player. He said, not found hard drive. SO, I bought a disc bytes of more 1 t (same mfr Seagate, same 5400 RPM) and installed. I have a backup network (Seagate Black armor) drive and I was able to restore the last backup. The booted cd drive the recovery disc for this program, the hard drive light blinking and it seemed to be something for 3 hours, then told it was full.

But the new drive does not start. I've read on this forum and of the joint recommendation was to use the system provided with the laptop recovery disks. I dug through the boxes in the garage and have found the system recovery discs and my 14 cd makes system restore. :-) makes to keep unwanted sometimes. But I tried the system recovery disk and it will not start in the cd player. I get a white screen with the cursor in the left flashing top. I went back to try the recovery of Seagate disk, and now it will not start either. I tried to remove the new HARD drive. with or without a cd in the player it displays the message "No Op sysytem found." SO I think that something touched the CDdrive. But it is interesting with the blinking cursor will restart the machine, then perhaps a part of the op system is loaded.

It is an old machine, the old system of the op. I shopped Hp store and only Windows8 available now. SO I am forced either on the cutting edge with all new bugs and learning curve, or I'm trying to get this old lady will machine. Other things I've linked, hard reset, restore the default bios.

Ideas that you may have will be appreciated.

    Hello

The laptop is back running with the new hard drive, Yay! and a new cd player.

Here's what he had to, for anyone who has ever has the same problem:

The CD player was bad. The nearest local supplier on the list for assistance parts hp gave me was a suitable replacement. I installed, and the system restore disc started and ran immediately.  I decided to check and see if the windows install disc would go and restore the sytem since I thought that I had already restored the entire C: partition. He started, but did not find the hard drive. He gave an eror message that does no drive found.  I went to the hp system restore disc and running. It took several hours reformatted the drive (by removing everything I'd put) and rebooted several times. Eventually, he came with a windows desktop computer. This is the factory installed there are over 5 years old. I installed the Seagate backup software and running. He seemed to have more options running in windows he did directly from the boot cd. One of the options was to restore the MBR. I had to find out what it was, Master Boot Record. I thought that it should be restored. The full restoration of the backup process C: took another few hours, but he finished and gave a message of the operation successfully.

Then I rebooted and got windows, connected and got my office logon screen as it was at the time of the backup. Success.

In the future, I'll watch that restore MBR, maybe it's there, and I missed it the first time. I have a slight nagging worry that maybe something else caused both drives to fail almost at the same time. But I'm not going to fuss with it. I hope that the machine works well for a little longer.

Thanks to those who have tried to help.

    Later,.

  • HP Envy 17-184na and Envy 17-141na

I was comparing prices from different stores on a laptop computer called the

HP Envy 17-j184na and found one called the HP Envy 17-j141na. Both laptops I found have model names different but seem exactly the same for me, so my question is:

What is the difference between the Envy 17-j184na and 17-j141na?

    j 184na:

    http://WWW8.HP.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?DocName=c04332225

    j 141na:

Only quickly obvious difference is the hard drive. The ordinary reader with 141 5400 RPM and 184 has a hybrid drive with a 8GB flash cache which should improve performance a bit.

  • Larger and faster hard drive model T61 6458-CTO

6i would like to know which is the hard drive bigger and faster that I can buy for a T61 (6458-CTO).

It has a 80 GB hard drive, 5400 RPM and SATA interface (1.5 Gb/s).

Can I buy a SATA II (3 Gb/s, 500 GB and 7200 RPM) for this computer?

    Thank you.

    Jon

    > Buy a SATA II (3 Gb/s and 500 GB 7200 RPM) for this computer?

Yes, you can, however, due to limitations in the T61, there only a SATA I interface. This isn't really a problem because the drive itself is unable to transfer data at the maximum speed of the interface.

  • New HDD in my Dell INSPIRON N5010 laptop, will I go to 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM HARD drive

I bought the DELL N5010 laptop about 4 years back, and currently it is more under warranty.
2 days back my hard drive crashed and could not start or install the OS as there are bad sectors on the hard drive has. I plan to buy a new hard drive.

Which one should I go for a 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM. I would go to 7200 RPM, as it is faster, but I read on the internet that the 7200 RPM generates more heat then 5400 RPM and my laptop is already facing heating problem. I had replaced the fan about 2 months as my laptop used to close because of the heat. The problem of heating has not changed, but laptop does not stop :)

Anyone using the DELL N5010 laptop with a 7200 RPM HARD drive and he's fine?

Any kind of recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Sach

Thanks for the recommendation. The sales in the shop man also recommended the same thing. I bought Seagate 5200 SSHD(Solid State Hybrid Drives) which is still better than the conventional hard drive. :)

Did the removal and easy replacement? Are there instructions please?
I have a horrible feeling that there may be data recovery for the operating system on a hidden in the drive partition.

Is this correct? May only be transferred to a new hard drive?

Satellite M50-130 has been delivered with the 2.5 "60 GB HARD drive.
This HARD disk supports a rotational speed of 5400 RPM and it supports an improved IDE (ATA 6) interface.
