LaserJet Enterprise M553x: disk / MEM on LaserJet Enterprise M553x - declared incompatible sizes

I am trying to reconcile the various reports, available to the internal hard drive of my LaserJet Enterprise M553x(loan), between them and with the published specification (which indicates a 4 GB drive):

Page of Configuration on the Embedded Web SServer this backup (3688 MB, which is pretty close to 4 GB, has given the 'rounded' usual mechanisms used), but it also indicates thatdisk can not be encrypted"":

But the report file directory Page (one of the reports available from the printer) displays two "peripheral" (each with"device capacity = free space"and with a combined total of 1063 MB):

A PJL INFO FILESYS query generates the following response:

where the specified capacity is (approximately) 614 MB;

The latter figure is the same as the capacity of the storage area of 'user data' in the report from the file directory Page .

This seems to indicate that the filesystem PJL area is in this storage area.

This seems to confirm if a PJL FSMKDIR NAME = "0:\pcl" command is issued to create a new folder at the root of the volume 0:

The new folder appears in the Directory \PDL\pcl (in a new report from the file directory Page ), which means that the volume of filesystem PJL 0: is relative to the \PDL directory in the storage area of 'user data'.

[Either said by the way, note that the new folder disappears once the printer is powered on by bike; [I think it's because (I think) the 'hard drive' is actually a device Embedded MultiMedia Card (MEM), so (at least) the system of files PJL part is volatile, rather than non-volatile stored.]

Can someone explain the above, in particular:

  • Why the Page directory file reports that the capacity of the disk is only 1063 MB, much less than the capacity of the MB 3688 indicated elsewhere?
  • Why the file directory Page report that 'capability of the device = free space' for each of the two storage areas outlined? Is it just that all the mentioned files are currently empty?
  • Is there a documentation, which explains the purpose of each of the storage areas and directories contained in the report of the directory file Page ?
  • PJL FileSystem commands seem to only be able to send the folder \PDL storage of 'user data'; is there anything else that can provide details on what is in the other files (SNMP? PML?); or (perhaps most likely) that information would compromise security?

I can try to shed some light on your comment "Page file directory.

What you see, is how the MEM disk space is partitioned and how much free space on the disk have different partitions, and how they are used.  The device has a client partition and a partition of extensibility that you see.  There are also other partitions where we store data firmware and peripheral.  Data from the device contains settings of the device, usage statistics, tables of colors, the firmware debugging logs, engine data, OCR, font, etc.  So a lot of mem 4 GB space is already set aside for features machine operation, firmware and processing work.  The remaining space is partitioned for scalability or user data.

Hope this helps.

Although I tried to define the preferences/PaperQuality/print size: A4 and this printer for the latest firmware and driver update, there is no change.

Accordingly, the document is only printed in letter size, but not that she was the defined as A4.

Bingo! Uncheck 'Scale content for A4' option in Word format (Option/advanced/printing), it will be resolved.

  • Running out of disk space HARD - Question on the Windows folder size

Hello! I am troubleshooting my HARD drive space. I have a 'C' HDD 16 GB with nearly 0 MB space left (fluctuates probably due to created restore points).

In any case, I discovered that my Windows folder contains about 7.7 GB of files. (I have Win XP Home Ed, 2002, SP3 installed - with MANY updates that have been installed over the years) 7.7 GB seems a lot.  Random check on the web (not sure how reliable replica is) I see less than 2 GB is what should be there.

I don't think that there are many 'other' stuff in there, certainly nothing that I placed there. is there a way to check / clean this folder?

Please do not suggest to re - install Windows as the solution, since at that time, I will buy another computer first.  then put in shape this one. It is clocked at 2.66 GHz Intel Pentium, so not ready to junk food she still.

Thanks for your suggestions. Best regards, Frank V

Your list of the most fragmented files that partially reveals the magnitude of your problem. Note that the list does not display very large files that have less than 797 fragments. There are also many small and medium-sizes of the files fragmented with less than 797 fragments. A notable omission in your list, this is the System Volume Information folder. I can't believe that it is not fragmented, she must be on this part of the list is not displayed.

To defragment by using with Windows XP Disk Defragmenter, you need a bit less 15%. Defraggler is my favorite Defragmenter, but I doubt that it will succeed on your C partition. With Defraggler you can defragment single files, except some files, including those related to safety programs. You must try to reach 20% of free disk space.

Your swap file is severely fragmented and illustrated perfectly why the possibility of using the "let Windows manage" is not the best solution if you want the better system performance. Minimum setting fixed maximum = pagefile avoids what you see on your system. Unfortunately with a populated partition, it is very difficult if not impossible to resolve completely without having to reinstall the operating system. However, trying to mitigate the impact of what you see, it's something to watch much later in the restoration, the functioning of your computer.

My previous to Outlook Express references were specifically directed against this program. Outlook is a totally different program and solutions for Outlook Express do not apply to Outlook.

You cannot compact Outlook pst files and archives, except those who created versions of Outlook prior to Outlook 2003. You can empty deleted item folder and you must first check that it is empty. I would then back up your Outlook Archives on an external drive or flash before attempting to move the locations of archive. Once you have moved the archive folders successfully I would then move messages from your current folders to the archive folders. If you archive the current materials first of all you have more to lose if the process of change the default location of the folder goes awry. Then, you can archive your current messages and change the default location of the current file. You can move messages current return from archives as a last step if you feel the need to do so.

I copied a few instructions from an external source on how to change the default locations. I hope you find these useful.

To change the location of database of Microsoft Outlook, the OUTLOOK file. PST is to be moved. In Windows XP, you can find this file in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\loginname\Local Settings\Application application\Microsoft\Outlook\ and in Windows Vista, you can find it in the C:\Users\loginname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\ folder. After Outlook is closed, the OUTLOOK folder. PST can be moved easily using Windows Explorer by cutting (CTRL-X) and paste (CTRL-V) in the personal folder on the partition data (for example D:\loginname\Outlook). Now, the file is deleted from the original location, Outlook will present an error message because the database can not found. Accept the error message, navigate to the new location of the OUTLOOK. PST file and restart Outlook.

ATTENTION: If automatic archiving is enabled, the ARCHIVE file. PST must be moved as well! This file can be moved to the same location as OUTLOOK. PST, following the same procedure.

  • disk C shadow storage: what is the minimum size?

What is memory ghost of minimum size for drive C.  Thank you

The minimum size is zero.  You can disable shadow copies / restoration of the system if you wish:http://www.howtohaven.com/system/turn-off-volume-shadow-copy-vista.shtml.  It does not store any restore point then maintains without shadow.  I do not recommend this - instead, I'd like to keep at least one or two restore points in an emergency - but the decision is yours.

  • Why the hard disk is divided into partitions of two data (C:Vista and E: Data)?

I just started a new A200-1V0 and found that disk space is divided into two partitions of sizes equal 'C:Vista' and ' E: Data "(and a small one EISA).

WHY? What is the logic and purpose? It's not even as if the C:Vista partition is smaller and intended only to the tricks of the 'system' as the root 'Users' (user Documents) is on it also.

This is the default for Vista (my first use of it), if not, who said that Toshiba could do this without asking me?

How can I move the root 'Users' in Vista (in the data partition) - if I have two partitions that I might as well use it?

I can resize partitions in Vista without a utility 3 rd-party (or a complete backup/restore)?

    Thank you

    Hello just YOU

Please don't be offended because there is no reason for this. You bought the new product with the factory settings. Toshiba and other hardware manufacturer do not know every customer personally and, unfortunately, it was not possible to ask YOU how to set up YOUR laptop.

Because of this, there is a recovery of product support that allows to configure the HARD disk according to your wishes and needs.

Please use this DVD and install OS how you want it to be. What recovery procedure starts, you will see CONFIGURATION option on the right side. Click on it and choose the right option.

Reinstall the OS and enjoy your life. Really, I don't have the time to write on the floors of two partitions, because this is basic stuff and you probably don't want to waste your time to read this.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Windows vista disk seems to not work

I'm trying to reformat my computer, but when I try to boot from my 64 bit vista family drive premium without options appear. The disc spins, but it just shows the blue backscreen and does not run the usual options. I've only used the disc a couple of times before and it doesn't seem like scratches on it.

If the problem is with the disc itself and I need to download files, how can I get it to load in the start?

You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

There is no place to download a legal copy of the installtaion disc.  Here is Microsoft's policy on replacing lost or defective software: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246.  You can always borrow a disk for Installation of Vista on the same size of the bit ANYONE and use if, for installation with your product key.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows 7 disk management utility does not allow for creating simple volume: maximum number of partitions exceeded error

I am trying to create a new partition in Win7 using the disk management utility. Shrank lecteurC existing to create unallocated space. Am not able to create a simple volume with this space unallocated due to the following error message.

"You cannot create a new volume in this unallocated space because the disk already contains the maximum number of partitions".

How to fix this or go around with another method to create partitions?

    Hello

You will need to convert the dynamic disk before creating the extra partition. To do this in disk management:

-Right-click the disk 0 (gray area) which indicates the total size of your hard drive

    -Select 'convert to dynamic disk.

Once you have converted to dynamic disk, you will be able to go and create the new simple partition.

    I hope this helps.

Regarding the first part of your question, yes the RAID 1 will be re - build the table on the new hard drive.  However, the second part of your question was not considered, as we apply this method of replacement of hard drives in the case of a hard drive, otherwise, so I recommend that you back up all data before you try this.

  • Failure hard drive replaced by larger windows disk hard recovery 7 starter will not work

The Emachines Nav51 of Netbook had a hard drive fail completely. WD 160 GB instead of replacing the drive with the same size of the extra couple of dollars so I installed a 320 GB WD drive. Had a set of recovery disks shipped from Emachines, but due to the size of the disc it does not recognize the correct system.
But then installed on setup Windows installs the services that it stops and an error box goes up requiring you to restart the installation from scratch. But then runs into an endless loop does the same thing over and over again.
How to get windows 7 edition starter on this system.

    Hi Dave,.

    Thanks for the updates.

I wish to inform you that there is a difference between the installation disc and disc upgrade.

However, there is a solution that will allow you to install Windows 7 on the computer.

Step 1: during the installation, when you get to the window where you enter the product key, uncheck the option that requires the product at the bottom of the window key. You can use the same disc of Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade.

This will install Windows 7 without product key, you must activate it later.

    Step 2: Activate the phone.

Check out the following link and follow the instructions in the section: Activate by using the telephone.

Activate Windows 7 on this computer

Please let us know the status of the issue.

My udev rules are quite simple and readable by the user of network:

  • Confusion of thin or thick disk

    Hi all

    I have a strange problem.

We have a several s vm disk who told me are thick, but all I can see suggests that they are thin.

In the data of one of the disks store, it says the following: size and put into service, which shows me the disc is thin.

    disk.JPG

Do not know why the size shows still as provisioned, while the Linux operating system is no indication that 52 GB is used out of the 100 GB provisioned

When your right click on the vmdk, you have the ability to inflate the disc, this also highlights the disc being thin provisioned.

According to my understanding, the inflation option should be grayed out, be they vmdk is supplied thickness.

When you right-click the virtual machine, select edit it also shows the drive as being thin

Someone has seen a question similar to this one before or can help clarify if my argument of the disk being thin is correct or not.

    Thank you

According to your screenshots, discs are THIN provisioned. If the disk is THICK you get a column 'Provisioned size' (screenshot Ref first). I assume you are using the VI client.

Also you don't get not "inflate the option" If the disk is THICK. You are right.
